Template compatibility - DW 8 & MX

I'm just wondering about backwards compatibility with regards
to templates made in DW 8 and then used in MX 2004-- is there any
reason why this could present a problem? i.e. taking a template
made in DW 8, with all it's child files, and then using them in MX
2004

No.

• Compatibility when using nested classes an templates

We hit this problem when upgrading to from Workshop 4.2 to Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 C++ 5.3. This code compiles with 4.2 and MSVC6, but does not compile with 5.3. The compiler seems to get confused between the nested class typedef and template parameters. Renaming either T avoids the problem. Similar code caused a clash between omniORB 3.0.2 with ObjectSpace 2.1.
Are there any compatibility compiler options that we are missing here? Otherwise we are forced to modify our ORB.
// Compile with: CC -g -xs -xtarget=ultra -mt -PIC -compat -c CompilerBug.cpp
class A { // A could also have been a namespace
public:
class B {
class C {
typedef B T; // will compile when typedef is renamed
template< class T >
inline void Foo( T * p) {
p->~T(); // Error: The destructor name must match the class name
void CompilerBug() {
A::C * p = new A::C();
Foo< A::C >(p);

Use a server-side include for the menu on each page, give
each button a
unique ID, and use a page-specific stylesheet (either linked
or embedded) to
change the style values for the selected button.

• Using the Standard Template Library with 5.0 using 4.2 compatibility mode

Has anyone used the Standard Template Library with the 5.0 release of the complier using the -compat=4 flag ?

It's not your system, unfortunately. It's iTunes 5.0. I have XP, a brand new drive and Nero. I can burn all sorts of CDs, just none from iTunes.
I have gotten several emails from Apple regarding this issue, none of which helped. The last response I got said they were working on my problem. Right now, the best solution that I can come up with, although I'm not sure how to do it, is back up your songs as a data CD, uninstall 5.0 and reinstall version 4.9.
If you go back a few days (or maybe a week) in the discussions, someone posted a link for 4.9. If you can do this and successfully install 4.9 you will have no problem burning CDs. I just haven't had any luck burning my songs as data. I have 4.9 on an older computer and can burn CDs for days. So all I have to do is get my songs to the old PC and I'll be in business.

• Found 1 web using missing web template 14001 (lcid: 1033) with compatibility level 14

Hi,
I am receiving the following error when I try to upgrade an SP 2010 content database to SP2013: "Found 1 web using missing web template 14001 (lcid: 1033) with compatibility level 14".
How do I find out what that web template is? Or, how do I move all of the web templates from the old sp to the new sp?
thanks,

• Compatibility of Windows 8.1 ADMX templates with earlier versions of Windows clients

If I install the ADMX templates for Windows 8.1 into the central store in Active Directory, will they impact Windows 8.0 and below clients that are already using earlier ADMX templates? What about Windows XP clients, will they still work with their normal
templates?

> No impact.
With ONE exception: Win7/2008R2 introduced the capability to maintain
REG_MULTI_SZ (element "multiText"). ADMX templates using this capability
will fail to load on Vista/2008:
---------- FILEREVOCATION.ADMX
---------- SRM-FCI.ADMX
---------- TERMINALSERVER-SERVER.ADMX
---------- VOLUMEENCRYPTION.ADMX

• Template is nested inside itself (directly or indirectly)

Hello helpful folks of the Forum.
I had a template (test.dwt) based on which 60 of my pages are built and I dont know what happened now that whenever I try to update, all the editable contents of the 60 pages gets deleted. I was getting an error "template is nested inside itself (directly or indirectly)
Can someone please take a look at the template and let me know what is wrong and how I can fix it. If I create a similar tempalte and name it test.dwt, will it work ? Thanks for your help.

This will happen if you mistakenly save a Child page as a Template.dwt and overwrite your original Template file. Do you have a backup of your original Template stored some place safe?

• Access to customizing default: report templates

I seem to remember far back in the corners of my memory, someone here on the forum mentioning that although we didn't have access at the time (probably back at HTMLDB 2.0) to customize the default report templates, that there were plans to make this an option in a future version of Apex. Does anyone have any idea if this is something that is being planned, or better yet, available today?
If you're not sure what I'm talking about I'm referring to the field that says 'Report Template' in the 'Layout and Pagination' section of the 'Report Attributes' page in the application builder.
The problem I'm having is that I'm using the 'default: vertical report, look 2 (show null columns)' report template and I've got some long column headings that I want to include a line break between each word of the heading, so they're stacked vertical instead of wide horizontally. I've add HTML break tags to the headings but they're disappearing when the page is rendered.
I've made sure to set the 'Strip HTML' setting to 'No', but whether it's set to yes or no doesn't matter, the headings display the same either way.
BTW, doing the same thing in a template based multi-row report seems to work fine. However, trying to use/apply the 'Value Attribute Pairs' report template yields the same result as the default vertical look template.
So I have 2 questions:
1) anyone know how I can make these heading words stack up vertically, one word to a line?
2) are we going to get access to customize the default report templates?
Earl

Hello,
1) anyone know how I can make these heading wordsstack up vertically, one word to a line?
Probably the best way to do this is to just hard code
a <br /> between your words. That's exactly what I'm doing (and what I said in my original post), however those breaks are disappearing during page rendering when I choose the report templates I mentioned.
I don't understand why this technique works in the multi-row report templates and not in these vertically oriented value/attribute report layouts.
2) are we going to get access to customize thedefault report templates?
No, you should just use a regular theme based
template, the default report templates are there for
backwards compatibility and well basically for people
that don't care about the UI. Since your at the point
it seems you do care about UI the proper thing to do
is to move to a standard report template that you
have full control over.Fair enough. I'll look into that, but I think there's still an open question here as to why the HTML breaks aren't being returned in the page markup for these report layouts.

• "Error -2147352573 occured at Member not found" when trying to open an excel template

I'm trying to open an excel document as a template using the report generation tools but coming up with this error. I've traced the error to NI_ReportGenerationToolkit.lvlib:Excel_Open_Workbook.vi but have to idea why it's happening. The document seems to be fine as I can open and edit it in Excel. Has anyone else seen this? I'm using Labview 8.6 and Excel 2000. I've attached an image of the error and it's source. Thanks.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for pointing out the compatibility issue. I got the error with version 1.1.3 and therefore upgraded to 1.1.4 - after taking a glance at the readme document. I guess that I was mistaking the supported OS version ("Windows Vista/XP/2000") with the supported version of MS Office ("2007/2003/XP").
I originally received the error when running an executable on a Office 2000 machine. The executable was built on a Office 2003 machine since I have previously been able to build on Office 2003 and run on 2000. I'm not sure what was different with this executable. Anyway, after installing the LV development system on the Office 2000 machine, the issue turned out to be that some ActiveX methods had been disconnected. All I had to do was re-point the Invoke Nodes to the appropriate ActiveX methods.
Please note that my application in this case is very simple and therefore only exposes a small part of the Office 2000 ActiveX API. I'm sure that I would run into a non-compatibility wall if I were to implement more Office 2000 functions with RGT 1.1.4.

• How To turnoff compatibility mode settings in IE 10

Hi,
I have Domain and Forest Functional level is 2008 R2.
I got a requirement from a project to turnoff IE10 compatibility mode for windows 7.
Can anyone help me with an ADMS template which I can import to view settings in GPO.
Regards,
Deepak

Hi Deepak,
To turn off Compatibility View, enable the following setting:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Compatibility View\Turn off Compatibility View
Regarding ADMX files for IE 10, if we have installed it on our DC, we don’t need to download it. If not, we can visit the following website to download it.
Administrative Templates for Windows Internet Explorer 10
http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=37009
Hope it helps.

• Many-to-many Performance Problem (Using FAQ Template)

Having read "HOW TO: Post a SQL statement tuning request - template posting" I have gathered:
I have included some background information at the bottom of the post
The following SQL statement has been identified as performing poorly. It takes ~160 seconds to execute, but similar (shown below first statement) SQL statements executes in ~1 second.
SQL taking 160 seconds:
SELECT
a.*
FROM
table_a a
INNER JOIN table_a_b ab ON a.id = ab.media_fk

ab.channel_fk IN (7, 1);SQL taking ~1 second or less
ab.channel_fk IN (7);Or even:
ab.channel_fk IN (6, 9, 170, 89);The purpose of the SQL is to return rows from table_a that are associated with table_b (not in SQL) through the junction table table_a_b.

h3. Backgroud
Many years ago my company made the decision to store many-to-many relationships in our database using pipe delimited fields. An example field value:
'|ABC|XYZ|VTR|DVD|'Each delimited value refers to a unique 'short code' in TABLE_B (There is also a true numeric foreign key in TABLE_B which is what I'm using in the junction table). We regularly search using these column with the following style SQL:
WHERE
INSTR(pipedcolumn, '|ABC|') > 0
OR INSTR(pipedcolumn, '|XYZ|' > 0
...Appropriate indexes have been created over the years to make this process as fast a possible.
We now have an opportunity to fix some of these design mistakes and implement junction tables to replace the piped field. Before this we decided to take a copy of a database from a customer with the largest record set and test. I created a new junction table:
TABLE_A_B DDL:
CREATE TABLE TABLE_A_B (
media_fk NUMBER,
channel_fk NUMBER,
PRIMARY KEY (media_fk, channel_fk),
FOREIGN KEY (media_fk) REFERENCES TABLE_A (ID),
FOREIGN KEY (channel_fk) REFERENCES TABLE_B (ID)
) ORGANIZATION INDEX COMPRESS;
CREATE INDEX C_M_INDEX ON TABLE_A_B (channel_fk, media_fk) COMPRESS;And parsing out a pipe delimited field, populated this new table.
I then compared the performance of the following SQL:
SELECT
a.*
FROM
table_a a
INNER JOIN table_a_b ab ON a.id = ab.media_fk
WHERE
ab.channel_fk IN (x, y, n); -- Can be Many Minutes
--vs.
SELECT
a.*
FROM
table_a a
WHERE
INSTR(OWNERS,'|x|') >0
OR INSTR(OWNERS,'|y|') >0
OR INSTR(OWNERS,'|n|') >0; -- About 1 second seemingly regardlessWhen x, y, n are values that occur less frequently in TABLE_A_B.CHANNEL_FK the performance is comparable. However once the frequency of x, y, n increases the performance suffers. Here is a summary of the CHANNEL_FK data in TABLE_A_B:
--SQL For Summary Data
SELECT channel_fk, count(channel_fk) FROM table_a_b GROUP BY channel_fk ORDER BY COUNT(channel_fk) DESC;
CHANNEL_FK COUNT(CHANNEL_FK)
7 780741
1 555407
2 422493
3 189493
169 144663
9 79457
6 53051
171 28401
170 19857
49 12603
...I've noticed that once I use any combination of values which occur more than about 800,000 times (i.e. IN (7, 1) = 780741 + 555407 = 1336148) then I get performance issues.
I'm finding it very difficult to accept that the old pipe delimited fields are a better solution (ignoring everything other than this search criteria!).
Thank you for reading this far. I truly look forward to suggestions on how to improve the performance of this statement.

Renamed link table in DDL.

Possibly not, I followed the instructions as best as I could but may have missed things.
h5. 1. DDL for all tables and indexes?
h6. - TABLE_A_B is described above and has a total of 2,304,642 rows. TABLE_A and TABLE_B are described below.
h5. 2. row counts for all tables?
h6. - See below
h5. 3. row counts for the predicates involved?
h6. - Not sure what your asking for, I have a summary of data in TABLE_A_B above. Could you clarify please?
h5. 4. Method and command used to collect stats on the tables and indexes?
h6. - For the stats I collected above I have included the command used to collect the data. If you are asking for further data I am happy to provide it but need more information. Thanks.

• Error while creating template from win 8.1 VM

hello Experts,
I have a SCVMM 2012 R2 with Hyper-V host on Windows server 2008 R2 sp1 .
Next I have create a Windows 8.1 VM on Hyper-v Host machine then created a clone of this VM. It created successfully, but when i i tried to create a template from any of these windows 8.1 VM and its Clone VM. it have got failed with error as below:
Error (2916)
VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the agent host1.aaa.com was lost.
WinRM: URL: [http://host.aaa.com:5985], Verb: [ENUMERATE], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/microsoft/bits/BitsCompactServerUrlGroup], Filter: [select * from BitsCompactServerUrlGroup where UrlGroup="none"]
Unknown error (0x80338126)
Recommended Action
Ensure that the Windows Remote Management (WinRM) service and the VMM agent are installed and running and that a firewall is not blocking HTTP/HTTPS traffic. Ensure that VMM server is able to communicate with host.aaa.com over WinRM by successfully running
the following command:
winrm id –r:host.aaa.com
This problem can also be caused by a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service crash. If the server is running Windows Server 2008 R2, ensure that KB 982293 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982293) is installed on it.
If the error persists, restart thost.aaa.com and then try the operation again. /nRefer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details.
I have removed the hyper-v then re-added host on scvmm ,Ensured that Windows Remote Management service is running.
I don't have idea exact reason for this....is there is compatibility issue win 8.1 ?

Hello Srinivasa,
The WWI folder in program files of C drive has definitely been played with. Try installing SAP GUI again on your machine.
Also, please check for WWI installation as follows
1.If you have done local installation, please try installing again by following steps mentioned below:
Open any Word document .docx
click on "office button"
click on "word options"
click on "advanced"
click on "file locations"
select "user templates"
click on "modify"
look in " C> program files>SAP> front end> SAP Gui-->wwi". click on "Ok"
2.If you have MS word 2003, go to tools> options>advanced..Then follow the above steps.
Hope this solves your problem.
Regards
Pavan

• Office 2007 + Custom template (dot/dotm files) on terminal server -- issues

We are trying to transition to a terminal server + thin-client setup.
The TS runs Server 2008 R2, and the Office version is 2007 (for compatibility reasons -- we have a lot of macros etc that won't run with Office 2010).
The normal.dotm for Office, Excel & Word are customised in order to insert custom macros, font styling etc. A batch file runs on logon, copying the custom normal.dotm files from a network share to the local computer's C: drive in a folder called "Templates".
So it'd copy the data from "\\SERVER1\share\normal.dotm" to "C:\templates\" on the machine.
Then, a GPO would re-direct the location for the normal.dotm file from the default location to the new location (i.e. C:\Templates\) from above. This allowed updating of custom macros etc to all computers on the net. It was messy, but it worked.
Now that we're wanting to transition to terminal server, we're having an issue where the script still works, however when closing Outlook / Excel / Word, users are receiving a message stating "The file normal.dotm is in use".
I'm guessing what's happening is, the first person to log on to the Terminal Server and launch their instance of Outlook/Word/Excel is getting an exclusive handle to this file; And subsequently launched instances get this error.
There is nothing _wrong_ with the system per se -- everything works, however every time an Office app is closed, the user gets the annoying message.
What is the correct solution to this? Is there a cleaner way to deploy macros/styling settings rather than modifying normal.dotm? Another solution I can think of is to create a copy of the templates/normal.dotm for every single user in their %AppData% folder
and tell Office to use the %AppData% copy -- but this would mean as many copies of the templates as there are users which doesn't seem like a very clean solution.
I'm open to suggestions and insights on the cleanest and most efficient way to solve this problem.

Hi
update to this issue from my side:
We opened a Support call for this issue and got it solved.
The SQL script to recreate a fresh Enterprise Global (eglobal.SQL) does not exist for Project Server 2013 currently. But the support created one for us. So if someone has this issue, contact Microsoft Support, they will provide you the script.
Kind regards

• Microsoft Office Excel - compatibility Checker message in BPC 7.5

Hello Experts,
We are using BPC 7.5 M with Office 2007 on Application Server, we have upgraded from BPC 5.1 with Office 2003 where Dimension were of .xls and templates & Reports were of .xlt (office 2003 format) , After upgrade we have not done any changes in Dimension, Templates, reports version and they all are in .xls (Dimension) & .xlt (templates & reports) version
We are getting a error while saving a dimension in Admin module (by clicking on "Save to Server" link):
Microsoft Office Excel - compatibility Checker
Significant loss of functionality
Some cells have overlapping conditional formatting ranges.
Earlier version of Excel will not evaluate all of the conditional
formatting rules on the overlapping cells. The overlapping
cells will show different conditional formatting.
Do we need to convert the dimension files in 2007 format (.xlsx) or how to avoid the above told message while saving dimension file.
Thanks,
Rohit

Hi Rohit Khatak,
Could you solve your problem? I'm having this issue while processing ACCOUNT dimension (and only ACCOUNT) on Development environment, and nothing was changed at the server.
Every time I try to save, I receive this compatibility error, and when I press "Continue", the file gets with a strange format. If I press the save again, it stil gives me the same error.
I already tryed to process the dimension, to Refresh Dimension Members, and the error persists.
Is there a way to solve this problem at BW side? On RSD1 maybe?
Thanks in advance.
Yours,
Adriano
