Test the DST patch

Is there a way to test the DST patches I just applied?

I think it 's going to work, especially after looking at the zdump.
This is what I ended up getting:
env | grep TZ
TZ=US/Eastern
zdump -v $TZ | grep 2007

crystl32.ocx was retired in version 8.5 - almost ten years ago... Only reason I mention this is that if MS added something to oledlg.dll that makes the ocx not work, there is absolutely nothing that can be done in terms of fixes.
Now, to try to address the issue, you will have to provide more information:
    1) What version of CR are you using?
    2) What is the OS you are on?
    3) What is the actual error message?
    4) Can you duplicate the error on any computer that has the MS patch installed?
    5) What message do you get when you try to manually register the ocx?
    6) Do you have the latest patches for your version of CR?

  • DST Patch

    Hi All,
We are having 1600 Servers for our organization, there is a DST time change on 27 April 2014 for
Chilli \ LATAM region, we have already applied the DST patch in the month of March 2014, could you please advice me if we need to reapply this patch on our servers to maintain a time sync between the NTP servers, DC's and member servers.
All the desktops, DC's , NTP servers and member servers were patched during the release of the patch
in the month of March. We had applied the following KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2935092/en-us
Please confirm. Do let me know if any more information is required.

This isn't really a security issue which is the purpose of this forum.
Why would you think that you'd need to reapply the patch if you've already
    done so?

  • 10.3.9 Daylight Savings Time Problem (DST Patch applied), it was working

We have about 30 Macs running 10.3.9, all of which were patched last year with the DST patch (2007). They are all configured to set the date and time automatically using time.apple.com. The user account used by the people using them is a non-administrator account.
Since Daylight Savings Time changed in March 9, 2008, they correctly changed their time until late last week (end of March), when several of them went back to the old time. If I open the Date & Time System Preference Pane and authenticate, the clock changes to the correct time, without any further input from me other than authenticating as the admin. Once changed, some but not all go back to the incorrect time about a day later.
Any ideas? I am trying to see if there is a simpler solution that resetting PRAM, throwing away cache files, etc.
Other machines running newer versions of the OS don't have the issue.
Thanks in advance for any input and/or advice.

  • EBS 11g upgrade and DST patches

    OS: Linux X86
    EBS: 11.5.10.2
    DB upgrade: 10.2.0.4 -> 11.2.0.3
I am trying to figure out the process for updating the DST version. Our current version is 4 and we'd like to go to 17.
I am following the following MOS note trail:
    1) Interoperability Notes Oracle EBS 11i with Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2.0) [ID 881505.1]
    2) --> Complying with Daylight Saving Time (DST) and Time Zone Rule Changes in E-Business Suite 11i [ID 458452.1]
    3) ----> Applying the DSTv17 update for the Oracle Database [ID 1362718.1]
    4) ------> Updating the RDBMS DST version in 11gR2 (11.2.0.1 and up) using DBMS_DST [ID 977512.1]
Regarding the DST DB patches, it seems to me that there is nothing to do "before" the upgrade and that the key steps are in MOS Note 977512.1 sections 3 and 4 and are done "after" the DB upgrade to 11.2.0.3.
But, MOS note 458452.1 says to do the DB DST patches before the Application Tier and EBS DST patches.
So, could I plan the DST patches as follows?
    1) Upgrade the DB to 11.2.0.3 (no DST DB patching done to the 10.2.0.4 DB)
    2) Apply DB DST patches
    3) Apply Application Tier DST patches
    4) Apply EBS DST patches
    Thanks!

  • DST Patch Prerequisites and Software Updates

Mixed environment with PowerMac G5 PPC that are running Tiger 10.4.2 and some 10.4.6. Want to make sure that these machines are updated correctly with the Daylight Saving Time changes in 2007 without impacting customers.
Will have to be accomplished manually, (still in the process of obtaining Apple Remote Desktop)
Would probably prefer manual updates at this time due to Prerequisites and without impacting production.
Questions are mixed and confirmation is needed:
    # 1) Apple is indicating that the Daylight Saving Time Update (Tiger)Post Date: February 15, 2007, has a system requirement Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Client or Server). Does this mean that OSX needs to be updated to v 10.4.8 in order for the manual DST patch to work?
    # 2) Seems to be a contradiction regarding if the DST patch is and was implemented with various updates up to 10.4.8. Again according to Apple the DST rule changes for the United States and most of Canada are already available in Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later. Since I have around 70% of PPC already updated to 10.4.6 is the DST needed?
    # 3) The remaining G5 PPC that currently are running 10.4.2 based on above will have to be updated with the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) I am pretty nervous based on this update being successful, even with permission repair prior to update etc....
    The Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) updates Mac OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3, 10.4.4, 10.4.5, 10.4.6, or 10.4.7 to version 10.4.8 on both Intel-based Macs and PowerPC-based Macs.
    # 4) Do all current Tiger OS version need to be updated to 10.4.8 to assure that DST patch is installed?
Confirmation - Information or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
    PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   Mixed PPC 10.4.2 & 10.4.6
    PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Brian--
Since the 10.4.6 update as you indicate above fixes
the DST problem for US locations that affects my
    customers
(We are in the US) and our time zone. There would be
no reason to update these machines to 10.4.8 since
they already are updated to 10.4.6 and addresses my
immediate concern which is the DST issue.
Well, if you only deal with local time on your computers, it probably won't make a difference. It's when you're trying to calculate times in different time zones where the times could get off. So email headers and downloaded files might have strange time stamps off by an hour in some cases. Those are the kinds of non-obvious activities that could be affected.
" Updating to 10.4.8 alone won't do it, obviously,
    you'd need the DST patch"
Now I am really confused since this URL and your
comments contradict this documentation for Apple. If
having the 10.4.6 version of Tiger and it already has
the DST patch why are you saying that 10.4.8 alone
    won't do it??
Well, there are really two issues: Apple updated the US time zone files and most of Canada in 10.4.5. So if you update to 10.4.5 or later, you'd get these changes. However, one location that didn't get updated was Vancouver. You can check it from the Terminal app like this:
    <pre class="command">zdump -v /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver | grep 2007</pre>If you have 10.4.8 with the extra DST update, you'll see the following:
    <pre class="command">/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 09:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 01:59:59 2007 PST isdst=0
    /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 10:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 2007 PDT isdst=1
    /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 08:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:59:59 2007 PDT isdst=1
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 09:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:00:00 2007 PST isdst=0</pre>If you just have 10.4.5 or later, but no DST update, the spring times will be three weeks later (Apr 1, I think), and the fall ones will be a week earlier. And it's the same for a few other locations and time zones in Canada and around the world.
Maybe I am reading into this but there seems to be
    conflicting documentation here.
Well, I can see where that page might be kind of confusing, but, in a nutshell, it says that if you have 10.4.5 or later, you have some, but not all, of the DST changes for 2007 installed on your system. If you follow the link at the end of the Mac OS X 10.4 and Mac OS X Server 10.4 Tiger section, it links to a page that has a bit more information on the February 2007 DST update. That update has all the changes as of January 8, 2007.

  • DST patches

I need help regarding DST patch installation.
Can any body give the details of this process and provide the steps to be followed.

I would like clarification on whether the DST patch needs to be installed.
For sites with a 10.1.2 Enterprise Database and Oracle App Server Forms
application only used by local personnel, is the DST patch necessary? We do not
use any of the Timezone functionality and only use sysdate to record audit
    information.
Prior to this Oracle NOTE, we suggested sites update their Windows or SUN
machines, or by Network update, and restart the databases and application server.
Are there other reasons to do the patch to a database? Would it have to be done
to App Server Infrastructure databases as well?
On a side note, when the older DST event occurs for OS on a PC or Network,
will sites not need to restart their database and web servers as well to keep it
    from a second change?

  • Testing the Patch

    Hi Frineds,
We have update new patch in the Developing system....i have to test the Patch in the Development System and once it is OK in the Development system....we have to transport it to Quality.
My question is What the area and Object we have to test to  ensure the Patch is working fine.
And what is the Peocedure we have tpo folliow to test the patch.
    Thanks&Regards
    Revathi

First you have to clear with this point.. for what purpose you have updated the patch in development server.?
Then you have to check the functional and technical aspects of your server and the objects created. And you have to verify that server is compatible with the patches applied.
After that only you can goahead with the transport.
    Hope this would help you.

  • How to deal with the depth testing of Iterator Patch?

Recently I use Iterator Path to make my effect. I met some problem. I couldn't deal with the Sprite depth testing. I found it useless to set depth testing of the Sprite Patch. And also I don't know how to deal with the layer of the subpatch in Iterator.

In most cases, simply letting things go out of scope when the method that uses them ends is sufficient. About the only time you need to explicitly set something to null like this is, for example, if you're implementing a collection class and you want to remove an entry.

  • Possible bug in DST patches

    I am running Trusted Solaris 8 12/02 x86
I have installed patches 125235-01 and 125237-01. It appears the spring forward time change works however the fall back time change does not seem to be losing an hour. I performed the following steps to test the time changes.
    Spring forward time change:
    1. Set the time using date 031101592007 which sets the time to Sun Mar 11 01:59:00 CST 2007
    2. Using the date command I verified the time springs ahead and changes to Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 CST 2007 skipping the 2 am hour.
This tells me the spring forward worked.
    Fall back time change:
    1. Set the time using data 110401592007 to set the time to Sun Nov 4 01:59:00 CST 2007
    2. Using the date command I tried to verify that the time would fall back and count the 1 am hour again but it did not. The date continued into the 2 am hour normally.
Because of this I am gussing there may be a bug in the patches.
If I am doing something wrong or if there is a better way to test the time change please let me know. Thanks
    Josh

OK. I think I see what you are saying. First I want
to make sure we are both talking about 24 hour time
and not 12 hour time. In 24 hour time I understand
the 0100 hour would occur twice; The first in DST and
the second pass not in DST. I am not sure which time
the 'date 110401592007' command I ran set the time
    in. The second.
Does the OS automatically put the new date in the
second pass through of the 0100 hour?Apparently.
    If so there may
not be a bug at all but if that was the case how
could the fall back time be tested?Run
perl -le 'print scalar localtime 1143504000' and
perl -le 'print scalar localtime 1175040000'
If you're in a US timezone that follows Daylight Saving time, the first will show a time on March 27 2006 (Standard time) and the second a year later on March 27 2007 (Daylight Saving Time). The two should have local times one hour apart. If they do not, then you're probably not ready.
An alternative is to simply ask zdump for information about your particular tiemzone.
zdump -v $TZ | grep 2007. You should see the correct transition dates for 2007.
Alternatively, if you really want to change the clock on the computer, don't change it by specifying a local time (which as you've seen is ambiguous). Change it by specifying a UTC time and the -u flag. That's unambiguous.

  • Calendar object with Microsoft DST patch

We have been testing changes to the 2007 daylight saving time. We applied Microsoft DST patch to Windows 2000 with Java 1.3.1_18 and Windows 2003 with Java 5.0 Update 8. On both systems the calendar object return time zone of GMT although the system clock is set for Eastern.
If the Microsoft patch is removed, the correct time zone is again returned. Has anyone else seen this behavior when Windows OS patch is applied?

    > Does anyone know exactly what the problem is (what has Microsoft changed) ?
    a) Go to <http://www.ciac.org/ciac/bulletins/p-006.shtml> and search for the "CAN-" links. Each component has a one paragraph description.
    b) According to <http://patch-info.de/IE/2004/10/12/20-35-16.html> it contains:
    mshtml.dll (6,0,2800,1476 - 29,09,2004)
    urlmon.dll (6,0,2800,1474 - 23,09,2004)
    shdocvw.dll (6,0,2800,1584 - 27,08,2004)

    browseui.dll (6,0,2800,1584 - 22,08,2004)
    shlwapi.dll (6,0,2800,1584 - 20,08,2004)
    c) Some of the things that could be breaking are DOM references and DHTML, which are advanced features that not every application uses.
    From <http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-038.mspx>:
"Caveats: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 834707 <http://support.microsoft.com/?id=834707> documents the currently known issues that customers may experience when they install this security update. The article also documents recommended solutions for these issues."
Among other issues, that page says [<b>emphasis</b> added]:
    - After you install the MS04-038 security updates for Internet Explorer, some dynamic HTML (DHTML) <b>drag-and-drop operations are blocked</b> by Internet Explorer.
    - Security update 834707 includes a change to the way that Internet Explorer handles function pointers. This change in functionality occurs when an event handler points directly to a Document Object Model (DOM) function [...] Change in Internet Explorer function pointer behavior <b>causes code to not be executed</b> when an event handler is set to directly reference a DOM function after installing MS04-038 security updates.
BTW, Note 785308 has been updated with a workaround.

  • How to tell what was the latest patch installed on VMware ESX Server 3i, 3.5.0, 207095

    Hello Guys,
I have been running an old server that was installed as a test system on a DELL workstation - Optiplex GX620 (32 bit).
During the installation I had to confirgure the file: /usr/lib/vmware/installer/Core/TargetFilter.py to change the following line:
    "return interface.GetInterfaceType() == ScsiInterface.SCSI_IFACE_TYPE_IDE" to read:
"return interface.GetInterfaceType() == ScsiInterface.SCSI_IFACE_TYPE_ISCSI" this made it worked and I have been using it for 3 years now. However, at this time I was hoping to update it with the latest patches and updates and I cannot figure out if I have ESXi or just ESX, nor what was my last update and what is required next.
I have used this command to get the following output:
    # vmware -v
    VMware ESX Server 3i 3.5.0 build-207095
... I believe the 3i indicates that I have an ESXi 3.5.0 but is build-207095 the same buid as ESXi 3.5.0 Update 5?
If not, how do I go about updating it? What is the KB # I should download?
I can manage it using vSphere Client 5.5 and I can SSH into it using Putty.
Note: When I run... "# esxupdate --bundle=ESXe350-201302401-I-SG.zip update" from within the folder where its at in the datastore, nothing happens... just a new line is scrolled.
    Also...

... is there any further update for this system? I believe so as the Heartbleed patch etc. was not around when I was installing this server back in 2010.

    Hello Richardson Porto,
I wanted to tell you that I appreciate the help so far.
Also wanted to point out to you, that the KB indicated above is older than Update 5, which from your instructions is what I have installed. That KB is for U2.
Now, the document definitely has step by step instructions on installing, querying etc. But my problem is ... NOT ALL COMMANDS WORK FOR ME!
This is why I am here because all the instructions I have been reading does not work with my flavor of ESX 3.5.0, 207095... WHY? It has me stumped.
For example, here are some commands the doc asked me to do and they failed: (Note that I had to unzip the folder on my windows box and upload it to /tmp using vSphere Client)
    /tmp # ls
    ESX350-201302402-BG      ESX350-201302402-BG.zip  vmhsdaemon-0
    /tmp # unzip ESX350-201302402-BG.zip
-ash: unzip: not found                                                                                          -----------------------THIS COMMAND WAS NOT FOUND ?
    /tmp # cd ESX350-201302402-BG
    /tmp/ESX350-201302402-BG # esxupdate info
Invalid command info                                                                                          -----------------------THIS COMMAND WAS INVALID ?
/tmp/ESX350-201302402-BG # esxupdate update                                       -----------------------NOTHING HAPPENED HERE ?
    /tmp/ESX350-201302402-BG # ls -lh

    /tmp/ESX350-201302402-BG #
NOTE: All these commands were run sequentially and I just copied and paste it from my SSH Client (PuTTy.exe)
Is there a toolkit I need to install to have these commands or what really am I missing here? Host is in Maintenance Mode and the 1 VM that's on it is off!
I am going to start a new discussion with this NEW ISSUE, since the Heading of this DISCUSSION has already been SOLVED! Thanks again!
