TFTP Server Setting

Folks,
This is driving me crazy. I'm trying to set up a tftp server on Solaris 9 Ultra 30. Followed the steps in creating a /tftpboot directory, and chowned it root, with read access to others. Removed the # sign from the /etc/inetd.conf file. And left every thing the same except for the tftpd with -d option and restarted /etc/init.d/inetsvc. To test this, I try tftp on the same serve, it time out when I try to get a file. From anther machine, the server would send "icmp destination unfreachable (udp port 69 unreachable). I the port is for tftp and it's listed in the /etc/services file. I don't get it why inetd claims it's not avaialble. Also, the -d option in the /etc/inetd.conf for the tftpd does not display any messages on the console. Can any one help please?
Thx,
Alex

Instead of "restarting inetsvc" it is easier to send the HUP signal to inetd.
pkill -HUP inetd
If you kill it and restart it, then be aware that it will inherit the environment
variables from your SHELL. See inetd(1m) for more info.

    thanks,

You want to send the logs to the Syslog server..right? Use the logging command to do it.
    logging x.x.x.x is the command.
Use the logging trap command to set the level of logging.
    Router(config)#logging trap ?

  • Cisco Prime TFTP Server Question

Our organization recently installed Cisco Prime 1.3 on a Linux box.  I am used to using the older WCS which also had a built in TFTP server.  The old WCS was installed on a Windows Box and thus I was able to navigate to the TFTP server using Windows Explorer and the UNC path.  However, I cannot seem to access the TFTP server on the new Prime 1.3 server via that method.  I have verified that the TFTP and FTP servers are both enabled in Prime server settings and I have also verified that I can access the FTP port via a PC on the network and that the WLCs on the network are sucessfully backing up to the Prime TFTP server each night.
How can I access the TFTP server to retrieve these WLC backups if needed?

you need to enable root access.  then you can scp the files out of the directory easily enough.
    from cli
    root_enable
    follow prompts
    root
    psswd - set password
should be abel to ssh as root at that point, if you can want to say it's /localdisk/tftp, or just ls /localdisk

  • Xmodem I/O error when copy IOS from tftp server

After I formatted the flash I am trying to copy the IOS from tftp server using "copy xmodem: flash:c3550-ipbasek9-mz.122-44.SE6.bin" command, in rommon mode. I am getting the I/O error message.
I did try to boot from tftp using the "set BOOT tftp:c3550-ipbasek9-mz.122-44.SE6.bin" command and then "boot" command and I get an "error loading tftp:" and  "permission denied" message.
The tftp server is active; I did copy the old IOS before.
Here is the output from my switch:

    Help would be really apreciated.
    Thank you.
    Marius.

I am using Hyperterminal and a regular serial cable. Right now I am working on a 2950 Cisco Switch
At the switch: prompt, I typed:
    copy xmodem: flash:filename.bin    [ENTER]
As soon as you see CCCCC   in the terminal window.....
In Hyperterminal, from the tool bar, select Transfer -> Send File
Browse to the file, select Xmodem from the dropdown menu and select SEND
After the process has finished, type en and then boot flash:filename.bin
This will boot the .bin in your flash directory. The previous post only boots the switch that one time until it turns off. It does not put the image in the flash directory.
-->I dont know why it has to be done this way, but this was a bare to figure out. Nothing works like its suppose to though.
-This process will take a long time.  Couldnt get a faster speed then 9600

  • TFTP server on 2691 router

    Dear Cisco techs,
Can someone please guide me to link on how to set up TFTP on 2691 router
    When I type conf t.
    tttp-server flash: is does nothing
    Or tftp-server gives unrecognized command
Have searched quite a few places. Leads to various links but nothing conclusive. One directed me to a tftpdnld command but is for ios image updating only.
Want to update flash: with more files for ip phone
Why does cisco make this so difficult?
    Thanks again :)

Thanks Leo. I wasn't in global config mode. All this cisco stuff is very interesting and at time challenging. LUV IT
One more question if I may.
Sh clock keep referring back to year 2002 after being updated. I unplug router. Goes back to 2002. How can I keep it as current date?
NTP server has been set but not synchronised.
Does NTP server control the sh clock command output?

  • TFTP Server?

    All,
Two years ago, our school purchased a new Avaya telephone system. At the time, I was running OS 10.3 and 10.4 servers, and we were told that they could not do TFTP so we set up an old Windows NT server to act as our DHCP/TFTP server. Everything has been working well for years but the 10 year old box is showing signs of dying. I rather put these services on a Mac server so I don't have to pay for all of the client licensing. Will 10.5 or 106 server handle TFTP, and DHCP for several VLAN's?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

There is also a new tftp server that you can run on your iPad or iPhone. There is even a free version:

  • Copy IOS .tar to a tftp server

I'm unable to copy a Cisco WS-C3750G-12S IOS to a tftp server. The IOS is a directory but is there anyway of copying the .bin IOS. The current IOS is a .tar IOS which is a directory. Below is a copy of the sh boot.
    Sh ver
    BOOT path-list: flash:c3750-advipservicesk9-mz.122-25.SEE4/c3750-advipservicesk9-mz.122-25.SEE4.bin

You can copy your switch's current TAR IOS file to TFTP.
You can use tftpd32 v3.3 and set some parameters so file can be copied .
    tftpd32 - > Settings -> TFTP Configurations
    timeout (seconds) - 1200
    Max Transmite - 100000
Type command on Switch (privileged EXEC mode)
    Switch(2960-X)#
    Switch(2960-X)#archive upload-sw tftp://tftp -server-ipaddress/ios file name
    Switch(2960-X)#archive upload-sw tftp://172.20.100.100/c2960x-universalk9-mz.150-2.EX5
if TFTP server is directly connected to switch than it will be good so packets will not be drop.

  • Recovery image. Topology 3602i thru 2504 controller from TFTP Server

Hi everyone! Here is my topology and I need to perform image recovery for my 3602.
3602 can be connected and powered only by 2504 controller.
How I need to configure controller to allow communication from 3602 and TFTP server???
Does all ports on controller L3 and I need to make Routing thru 2921 Router?
Or no needs to configure  IP ports interfaces on controller and it will work on L2.
Please give me direction to follow and recover IMAGE.

    Alright! Image finally loaded!
I think it was very helpfull: Step 3 Set the timeout value on the TFTP server to 30 seconds
    But image failed to boot.
    But image failed to boot.

  • TFTP server in LMS3.2

Is there an integrated TFTP server in LMS 3.2? where can I enable it? otherwise, if I set an external TFTP server, how can I link LMS to it?

I tested with a third party TFTP server, and it worked. Yet TFTP server of CWLMS does not work.
    with CWLMS TFTP server:
    TNRTAGCS00003#
    TNRTAGCS00003#copy run tftp://172.16.10.3
Address or name of remote host [172.16.10.3]?

    %Error opening tftp://172.16.10.3/tnrtagcs00003-confg (Permission denied)
    with third-party TFTP server:

    TNRTAGCS00003#copy run tftp://172.16.10.3
Address or name of remote host [172.16.10.3]?
    Destination filename [tnrtagcs00003-confg]?

I guess the cause is the TFTP server of CWLMS. I restarted it with no success.

    Hello,
how can I get the IP for a device that does not have a OS flashed onto it? I mean, I can't use

    and using
    # arp-scan --interface=eth0 --localnet
on my Linux box does not return the device which IP I need.
    Suggestions?

Apparently no IP is allocated by thre DHCP server. I think it is maybe because only the bootloader starts; I miss a OS an that device.
It is an embedded device, I can't use a live CD.
What I need to do is booting my embedded, then fetching an instance of OpenWrt via a TFTP server that's running on my linux box. But for fetching the OpenWrt img I need the IP of server and client both.

  • TFTP server in Jabber for Windows

    Hi All,
I am attempting to setup Cisco Jabber for windows in an CUCM 8.6.2 SU1 environment with Windows client 9.1.1
I am reading the documentation about setting up the environment for On premise.
The document refers to setting up your TFTP server for the Windows Jabber client.
Is it possible to use the tftp server on CUCM for this purpose or do we need to run a seperate TFTP server for the windows jabber client to get their configurations from?
Thanks very much for any help.
    Regards
    alalli

Yes, you can use the tftp server on CUCM.

  • TFTP Server in Snow Leopard

Running a MacBook Pro unibody here. Posted this in the regular Snow Leopard forums, and it was suggested I post here as well. In 10.5.8, I was using TFTP Server (v3.2.1) to configure and start OS X TFTP server. It worked pretty well, and gave a nice GUI interface for configuring. In 10.6, the program still works, but I cannot seem to start the tftp server. I've gone into Terminal and have tried various methods of starting tftpd there, and while the command runs, I get a "tftpd failed to start". I know enough about CLI/Unix/Linux to be dangerous, but am by no means a guru. Anybody else seen this? Suggestions? I'm OK if I need to start the service via terminal until the developer can fix TFTP Server, but at this point, it looks like something has changed in this regard on Snow Leopard.
    Thanks!
    Barry

I have the same problem, and another with pureftpd. The logs don't show much except that for ftp they say the port is already in use.

  • Home Server Set Up - DNS, DHCP etc

    Hi
I'm looking to set up a Mountain Lion Server at home.
I have a Lion Server but I think I will wipe it and start again, mainly because I didn't use a particularly good name to begin with. I've read the We Got Served Mountain Lion Server book, Mountain Lion Server for Dummies and Apples Documentation.
I am planning to set up in the following way:
Turn my Virgin Media router 'Modem Only' mode on.
Turn on my AirPort Extreme and set it up as the DHCP server.
I will set up a pool of IP addresses.
Question 1 - I think the best way is to make a reserved IP address for my server within this pool rather than a static IP address outside of the pool (but within the subnet).  Any comments on this?
Question 2 - I need to boot my Lion Server to get the MAC address for the reservation.  Should I set the reservation IP as the IP the DHCP server provides or set it up to an unused IP address? I will set up DHCP to distribute DNS server names.
Question 3 - Because I want my Mountain Lion Server to provide Directory Services I need to set up the Mountain Lion Server as a DNS server.  Is this correct?
The DNS servers I will get the DHCP server to provide in the following order:
    1 My Mountain Lion Server
2 My 1st Virgin Media DNS Server
3 My 2nd Virgin Media DNS Server (not sure I can set up a 3rd DNS server)
I am not going to use a Google DNS or another open DNS because they are located in the US and this affects caching of internet content.
When I set up my Mountain Lion Server I am in two minds about going for a public internet registered domain or a private domain.
Question 4 - Are there any limitations in using the registered public domain as opposed to a private domain with VPN.  If I need access to any of my machines remotely I tend to use LogMeIn form my iPad.  But I am tempted (just because its there) to set up a public internet address and using it. If I did go for the public domain I would need to use a dynamic DNS service (like Dyn.com) because I don't have a static IP.  However if I didn't I would only need to change my public DNS entry if I rebooted my router (and I may not even then as its IP address may not be reassigned).
If I don’t need remote access to my server very often then this would be acceptable.
Question 5 - If I did go the full internet way (as opposed to the .private domain) what do I register at dyn.com?  Just my domain, then add a record for the server.
    1. Register ‘example.com’
    2. Add a record at Dyn.com for ‘server.example.com’.
    3. On my server set up put ‘server’ in the Computer Name field
    4. On the ‘Host Name’ field enter ‘server.example.com’.
Question 6 – Bonjour and DNS.  Aside from whether I go for a public registered domain or a private domain (and access via VPN or LogMeIn) how do these settings affect the Bonjour set up?  My understanding is the Bonjour uses .local.  So what is the resolution path?  If I set up a DNS server on my Mountain Lion Server do I need to enter a record for each local laptop in the house or can I leave that to Bonjour?  My understanding is the Bonjour will continue for all local address resolution and the Mountain Lion DNS will take care of resolving the server name (for Directory Services and any other services).  Is this right will DNS be used for file and print services on the server?
    Any thoughts/answers/comments/casual abuse welcome.
    Thanks

    Thanks
