The infamous white background...HELP!

I am creating a little rpg game, and the sprites i use always seem to have a white background, that isnt transparent.
even if i set the background color of the JPanel to clear, there is still the white background of the picture itself that always gets in the way.
is there any way to make the background of the actual picture clear, and make it stay clear when making it an ImageIcon?

it turns out i was using a Panel.
No matter what i try, i cant set the background of the panel to transparent.
even
setBackgrond(new Color(255,255,255,0));
doesnt work for some reason.
i dont want to use JPanel because it flickers.

  • Any way to get rid of the awful white background in grid view?

The old dark background was infinitely easier on the eyes, and more attractive. When I look at stuff in grid view now it gives me a headache. Any chance of changing this back via terminal or something?

I would also like to know how to get rid of ugly *** white background. It ****** me off every time I have to look at it. There is nothing that I see here as being an improvement over the last itunes.

  • The infamous white screen - can you help?

A friend edited a video with Final Cut Pro and then exported to Quicktime format so that I could watch it on my laptop. But when I play it in Quicktime, I can hear the sound but only see a white screen. When I double click the file, Quicktime opens and up pops a message:
"Some necessary Quicktime software is missing. etc etc"
But once I am taken to the Apple site, I have no idea which of those codecs I need to download.
If it helps, the clip I'm trying to watch is 1920x1080 and under 'codecs', the following are listed - HDV 1080i50, Integer (Little Endian), Timecode.
Any advice as to how I can watch this clip in Quicktime?
    Powerbook G4 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Quicktime 7.1.6

The FCP export used video codecs not supported outside that app. Meant for one FCP user to another.
They should export using H.264 Video codec so any version 7 user could view the file in QuickTime.

  • White background before pushing play and then the menu comes up

After I drag the template and set the buttons, when I burn it and
put the DVD in...the first thing that comes up is the a white background
underneath the buttons. Then when I push play, my template background
shows up before the movies starts.

    Hi
Try in DVDSP Prefrences changing your MEnu Encoding settings from Hardware to Software based, or vice vers, depending what you have selected now.
Build again and try !! That used to solve that problem.
    Hope that helps !

  • How to insert cropped images from photoshop without the white background

Basically all I want to do is take a peice of writing from a video and insert it into another video. To do this I've took a screenshot of the font from the video and imported it into photoshop. I've then cropped/cut/took the the peice of writing I want, letter by letter. I want to be able to insert it into another video, but whenever I attempt to do it, I have the default white background of photoshop. Is there anyway to insert an image from photoshop, without taking the background with it, or even insert a layer from photoshop straight into final cut pro? Sorry if this is confusing.

I don't think so. I cropped the letters, put them each an individual file, removed the background, saved them as a TIF then tried to import them onto Final Cut Pro, but a white background still appeared in the TIF file. Basically I just want to make the background transparent I believe.

  • How do i change the white background with the new ios7?

I just upgraded my iPad mini to iOS7 and now my videos are not titled, or the letters are white and are invisible against the new white background. How can I change this??

    It is rediculous,
up to IOS6 the iPhone was a perfect device for someone with low vision, well structured, good contrast and readable fonts.
But things got "improved". What a pitty that Apple has given away that benefit for a lightweight design which reduces ergonomics drastically. Now IOS is SW where design dominates usability.
Yes, you can use larger fonts, yes, you can use fat fonts but that does not change the keyboard layout.
It startet in IOS6 with the update of the keypad for the phone application (thin black keys on a flashing white background) and is continued with the vision unfriendly design from IOS7.
Please, have the flashing white background configurable so a structuring reappears or have the background configurable to white or black.

  • Help  brightening a white background

I took some portraits of my son against a white background, but in the photos the background has a blueish/grayish cast. To get a brighter white background, a friend of mine with PSCS2 suggested creating a duplicate layer and setting it to screen, then selecting my son and applying a layer mask to get the desired effect (my son as in the original, against the brighter white background of the screen layer). Except of course PSE 5.0 (which is what I'm using) doesn't do layer masks...
So how can I get the desired area of the old image (my son) to show through the new layer with the brighter white background? Or is there another, better way to do this in PSE? Thanks!

    Amy,
Another option is to "borrow" a mask from an adjustment layer, i.e. Levels.
Duplicate the Background layer, set it to Screen. Place a Levels Adjustment
layer between Background and Screen layer (no changes on it, just go OK),
group the Screen layer with the Levels layer (Ctrl-G). Click on the
layermask thumbnail and start painting on the image. White reveals the
    upper layer, black conceals it.

  • White background colour in Iframe?

    Hi everyone
I hope you are able to help me with this problem I am having:
I am working with an Iframe, where I would like the
background colour to be a specific colour, relating to the colour
    next to the Iframe.
The colour sorounding the Iframe is this #E6E3D2, the
background colour of the html-page to which I am linking in the
Iframe is the same colour, but nonetheless, the Iframe keeps
providing a white frame surrounding the content-html-page.
I have tried to make the Iframe and content.html page the
exact same width, but that just give me a vertical scroller + the
    white frame.
    This is what I mean:
    http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/GD-Klubben/Example.jpg
Are there anyone out there, who can explane to me (in very
slow and easily understanding phrases ;o)) how I can get rid of the
    annoying white background colour?

No, I haven't uploaded it anywhere yet. Not before I can
    solve the problem.

  • White background of image created in Photoshop prints as grey through iPhoto postal ordering service.

I have created an image in Photoshop with a white background (I stuck with the default white background that the new image gave me). Over the top of this, I placed some images, saved it as a JPG, imported it into iPhoto and ordered it as a postcard-sized picture.
When I received it in the post, the whole image had printed with a grey overtone: the white background was in fact grey, and the pictures over the top were darker.
How can I resolve this to print my image with a truly white background through iPhoto's ordering service?
    Many thanks,
    Adam

If unchecking the scene-referred profiles box clears the display problem in Photoshop, you most likely have hit a known bug with defective monitor profiling packages building defective monitor profiles that affect Photoshop and After Effects — specifically, the defective profile is erroneously marked as "scene referred."
Version 4 ICC Profiles: If your are using v4 printing profiles, try Googling for more information...some symptoms of this bug are Photoshop prints a light cyan or blue in the page white areas. The Fix is to use Version 2 printer profiles.
there is another old known issue that has to do with trying to Hard Proof simulate press conditions (printing cyan in whites) but i am not sure what you are trying and i can't recall it right now
if those aren't it upload these screenshots of your workflow:

  • Photoshop CS5 - get rid of scanned white background

    Hello
I scanned a colored logo I did by hand. The scanned white background shows up when I print. How do you get rid of that? I don't want to play with the levels because I like the color of the logo. Do you use the alpha channel and create a mask? If so, what are the steps?
    Thanks in advance.

select the background with the magic wand tool
do a feather selection of a few pixels if your selection looks rough
then do a levels choose the set white point brush and click on what you want to be white
The levels will only adjust your background to white then.

  • HT1414 There's no question IOS7 is advanced but the bright white back ground is a step backwards. It makes the iPhone harder to read.

There's no question IOS7 is advanced but the bright white back ground is a step backwards. It makes the iPhone harder to read.
In particular all photos or any slide show since the beginning of time have always had a black background. Not white. At the very least, the viewing of pictures should have a black back ground. I hope maybe you can introduce some gadgets or an upgrade that lets us choose something other than the bright white background. The accessibility option to inverse the video is awful. All your pics are negatives. I would hope you are hearing many similar comments and I look forward to an upgrade soon that gives us options to change that bright white.  If I could I would set my iPhone back to IOS6.
The new IOS also kills your battery no matter it seems how many location services and other apps you disable.

For some people. I find it easier to read.
