"The root activity type is invalid" while importing a xoml generated by sharepoint designer in visual studio

I am facing a problem with Visual Studio. Following what I did:
Copy and modify a workflow in sharepoint designer 2013
Import the generated files (xoml, rules, config) in a Visual Studio 2012 module
Build
I cannot build nor package the solution, getting the "The root activity type is invalid" error.
I read a lot of forum but I didn't figure out how to solve the issue.
Any help is really appreciated.

Hi Dario,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you imported SharePoint Designer reusable workflow into Visual Studio 2012.
Please check your process per the article below, compare the result.

COBL-LSTAR Activity type
   In cac1 'cost accounting variant' is set to 'Assignment of personnel costs to master cost center'. In this case, the cost center is not transferred to HR. Activity allocation is done directly from cats through the other (non-hr) components. Check for 'activity allocation' in the online documentation.
the cost assignment variant 'B' (Assignment of personal costs to sender) needs a receiving accounting object.
If there is no receiving object the cost assignment variant changes to '0'.

"could not save list changes to the server" while creating a new form in SharePoint Designer - custom content type

i am getting "could not save list changes to the server" while creating a new form in SharePoint Designer.
Actually the list was created with a custom content type. When i try to create a new form from the custom content type, it fails.
However, when i try to create a form using item content type, it creates a form successfully.
Could you please let me know hte workaroud for this.

Not able to import visio 2013 workflow in sharepoint designer 2013

Hi,
I have installed SharePoint 2013 trial version. I have designed a workflow in Visio 2013. Now trying to import that Visio workflow in Sharepoint Designer, but import option is only enable for 2010 Visio workflow. I have installed workflow Manager 1.0
and Bus services also, but it is not working.

Dear Ram Nath,
It may be late but it will be use full to others.
I faced similar issue and solved it by commenting the 5th line of DFACT.SQL file.
The issue was with the indexes not being generated properly to avoid such issues we must ensure to implement SAP note 1991576 in prior, if not we can comment the 5th line.
Below is the corrected file in my case

ORA- 31684 Object type already exists while import

Hi All,
I wrongly imported a user schema "AP_PD@SRV01" to user "A_IT@SRV02" (Instead of "AP_IT@SRV02").
User AP_IT and Tablespaces are already exists and used remap option while import.
remap_schema=AP_PD:A_IT (instead of mapping to user AP_IT, I misspelled as A_IT)
remap_tablespace=AP_PD_DATA:AP_IT_DATA remap_tablespace=AP_PD_INDEX:AP_IT_INDEX
After successful import to "A_IT@SRV02", I deleted the user "A_IT"
SQL> DROP USER A_IT CASCADE;
I restarted the import to the correct user schema .. i.e AP_IT@SRV02
remap_schema=AP_PD:AP_IT remap_tablespace=AP_PD_DATA:AP_IT_DATA remap_tablespace=AP_PD_INDEX:AP_IT_INDEX
and import was completed with the following errors
Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/USER
ORA-31684: Object type USER:"AP_IT" already exists
Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/PACKAGE/PACKAGE_SPEC

Thanks.You mentioned AP_IT schema and tablespaces already exist before doing first import itself.
Did you check the list of objects in AP_IT schema before performing import?
The following error is just an informational message and can be ignored:
ORA-31684: Object type USER:"AP_IT" already exists
But, the other 2 errors which says that package +"AP_IT"."DBMS_NUMSYSTEM" already exists+ means you have package in AP_IT schema and it wasn't replaced from the dump you imported. If you need the package from the dumpfile, you can drop the package and can import PACKAGE alone.

Hi Vijay,
The problem is as expected by me it is due to assignment and acitivty price details missing. This needs to be created in KP26.
Once you enter txn KP26 you need to type active version generally "0", then enter period 1 to 12, Fiscal Year "2007" and populate field "Cost Center" and "Activity type" now use "F5".
In the overview screen populate the value "Fixed Price" and "Variable Price" and save the transaction. (We are entering price for individual period but same across all period)
Now try creating Workcenter and assigning the Cost Center and Activity type. It should work.

You can do it one of two ways:
1. Change the rule of the top level to deny everything.
or
2. Add a rule below your "map C to Z" to deny everything.
The way it works is that when SGD finds a local drive, it'll try find a matching rule. If it doesn't find it, it'll go up the datastore structure and check for rules. And the first rule that applies, it'll use that rule. So, in your case, when SGD sees drive A (for example), it looks at the rule of the person (or profile) object and it does not find a matching rule since you only have one rule (map C to Z), so it goes up the datastore structure, and try finding a matching rule. Since you have no other rules in between, it goes all the way to the top and try to map drive A to "U" (default first drive letter).

I am creating provider hosted app in visual studio 2012 using app scoped external content type having OData with Northwind url
App manifest start page url :

In XML it is:

When i am deploying app pressing F5 the app gets deployed successfully....
Now i am changing my start page url in Appmanifest like this:

When i am deploying app pressing F5 the app..
Getting register SOD error.....
I have followed all the steps like:
1)Creating app domain
2)Starting all the required services
3)Creating root site collection
But still no success.. Please help me on this.... I am struggling with this from two weeks...

Have you set up a wildcard DNS entry for the spapps.com domain?
Also if you're trying to connect from the server you might be hitting loop back check issues.

Using the dataset designer in visual studio with ODP

I can connect to our Oracle database and pull back data using code, this is connection string which works: -

I don't have Oracle Database Server or Oracle Database which I assume is Microsoft's offering and not ODP.NET.

I have created SPD workflow and imported in visual studio. When I deploy imported Workflow using visual studio feature I found that Setting Workflow Status action is not working. Do I need to change Set Workflow status activity in Visual studio to make it

According to your post, my understanding is that Setting Workflow status did not work in imported workflow from SharePoint Designer to Visual Studio.
I try to reproduce the issue and the result is the same as yours.
After I import the workflow, choose the .xoml file, the view is as below:
To troubleshooting the issue, I add a new item to the project and select “Sequential Workflow” in the template.
After I click the Tool, I find that there don’t have the “SetCustomWorkflowStatus1” activity.
To set the status of the state, we need to use the “Set State” Activity in the “SharePoint Workflow” toolbar.
That is the reason why the “SetCustomWorkflowStatus1” activity does no work.

CATS Problem with Activity types, it takes the first 6 digits of PERNR

Hello Gurus!
I have configured cats and maintained infotype 0315. When i go to CAT2, i dont see any default values on the screen from 315. When i try to call the cost center and activity type,. enter the times and hit enter, it hits an error saying: Activity type 001131is invalid for 00113199. It doesnt speak abt the activity type i assigned, it probably takes the first 6 digits of personal number as the activity type and throws an error.
Please help me what to do with this... its very urgent..

Which version of SAP are u using. I don't see any message with your description in the message class.
I think the values on CATS are only defaulted when u give the WBS element and hrs and press ENTER. Try this and u should be able to get the values defaulted from 315 assuming you have set the default values in CAC1 and also please check the settings in the Initial screen of CAT2 if any other values are getting defaulted in Persons tab and also check ur activity type has the valid Controlling area.

IW41: automatic update of activity type when changing the work center?

Hello colleagues,
when doing a time confirmation with IW41, we have following problem:
In the PM order the operations are assigned to a neutral executing work center, as it not known which individual technician is completing the operation later on.
Now when the individual technician is entering the time confirmation with IW41, system is proposing the work center indicated in the operation from the PM order, then technician is overwriting the work center proposal with his own individual work center ID (and pressing Enter), but the activity type is not getting updated automatically. So the technician must jump to field "activity type" and choose the correct activity type.
Is there any solution (hopefully with user exits!) to have the field "activity type" automatically updated with the one indicated in the work center, which was entered manually?

yes, as usual all PM work centers have only 1 activity type assigned in the costing tab.
We also checked the settings of the activity type (KL03), but we just found one difference: the price indicator was set on 3 "Determined manually" - we've changed to 1 "Plan price, automatically based on activity" (..same setting as for the act. type of the work center with working update of act.type).
We tested already all possible constellations and scenarios, but we have not found any good reason for the behaviour.
