Thanks for that 'sberman' - because my iPhone is backed-up to my work computer (only at this stage) I have had to call our IT Department in Adleaide. (4 times this morning). The last guy managed to get the phone into 'DFU Mode' - no more recovery mode screen - (kind of 'asleep' perhaps) from my understanding of same. I am awaiting a call again from IT so they can get my computer to actually recognise my iPhone on the C Drive. This also happened to  one of my colleagues in Newman (WA). She got so frustrated with the whole process that she bought another phone the next time she was in 'civilisation.' She hasn't had any problems since. (Cross fingers).
    Thanks again, Sandra2474.

  • I forgot the passcode for my iphone 4s, how do i get it back without losing all data on the phone?

I forgot the passcod on my iphone4s, how do I get it back without losing all the data on the phone?

You can't unless you have backups.
Locked Out, Forgot Lock or Restrictions Passcode, or Need to Restore Your Device: Several Alternative Solutions
    1. iOS- Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
    3. Restoring iPod touch after forgotten passcode
    4. What to Do If You've Forgotten Your iPhone's Passcode

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • Just downloaded update for my iphone and now it wont turn back on and all it shows on the screen is the usb plug with an arrow pointed at itunes

    what do i do

Why did you disconnect it when it showed that screen? That is just one step in the update process. You need to complete the update; that is what that screen says. Just plug it in and let it finish. If it doesn't see this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • Everytime i try to download iso5 update for my iphone 4  i keep getting an error and it says if i proceed to update i will lose all contents in my phone?

im having trouble downloading the new update iso5 .  . . . everytime it is almost to the end of downloading an error will pop up...? help please

What exactly does the error say?
Updating to iphone 5 does indeed erase your iphone, then it restores the data (assuming you have made sure that everything on your iphone is on your computer first).

  • Firefox was working, then when I clicked the icon to open, it said it needed to restart to complete a previous installation. After restart, it will not start at all, goes straight to crash report in regular and safe mode.

The only recent changes to the PC are:
    Ran latest Microsoft updates.
Installed Halo2, F1 and TinTin games (all purchased from store, installed off original CD)
    Installed DirectX
Installed Microsoft Games for Windows Live and reditributable
    Installed Visual C++ 2005 redistributable.
Have tried new installation of FF, won't install, repeats dialog about needing to restart to complete a previous installation (see question above)

Below KB describes the article that also helps:

To increase the timeout value in the registry, follow these steps:
    Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
To change the value data for the ServicesPipeTimeout DWORD value to 60000 in the Control key, follow these steps:
Locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
    Click the Control subkey
Right-click the ServicesPipeTimeout DWORD value, and then click Modify.
    Click Decimal.
Type 60000, and then click OK.
If the ServicesPipeTimeout value is not available, add the new DWORD value, and then set its value data to 60000 in the Control key. To do so, follow these steps:
Locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
    Click the Control subkey.
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type ServicesPipeTimeout, and then press ENTER.
Right-click the ServicesPipeTimeout DWORD value, and then click Modify.
    Click Decimal.
Type a value of 60000, and then click OK.
The value is 60000 milliseconds and is equivalent to 60 seconds or to one minute.
Note This change does not take effect until the computer is restarted

Hi Jen.  My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse.  Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too.  Now to the problem at hand.  I have the same problem.  I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade.  Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade.  But I'm sure other factors are involved.  Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem:  What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it.  Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade.  Hope this works.   Charlie

  • Hey guyz.. i wanna ask if i get an updated version from itunes when i plug my iPhone into the Pc, i get a letter tells me that there is an update for your iPhone ... i wanna ask is it safe to download ?? and does it make any side effects on longTerm using

It is safe to download if your phone is not jailbroken. Before you download it, however, take some precautions:
    Reboot your computer
    Disable your antivirus and firewall
Connect the phone cable to a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub
Before updating right click on the name of the phone in iTunes and choose "Backup"
When you are given the choice choose "Download only", not "Download and Update"
After the download completes successfully click the Update button to install it.
Most of these steps are just being overly cautious, as most people ignore them and have no problems. But occasionally the extra steps save grief.

  • I just downloaded the new update for my iphone

just downloaded a new update for my iphone and now all i get when i try to power the phone back on is a itunes logo a aarow pointing up and what looks like a charger below that... is it telling me to connect to itunes?? is there a problem with my phone?? someone please help i am out of town and need my phone

That's telling you your phone is in "Recovery Mode", & needs to be restored. You'll need a computer to do so:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If you don't have a current backup to restore from, any data on your phone will be lost.

  • I've downloaded the past 2 updates for my iphone 5s and now it keeps asking me to trust my own computer and it wont even connect to itunes!

I've downloaded the past 2 updates for my iphone 5s and now it keeps asking me to trust my own computer and it wont even connect to itunes! I am current with software on both my computer and my iphone 5s.  Now when I hook it up to my computer it still keeps asking me if I trust the computer and it won't connect to Itunes?

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Have you ever jailbroken your iPhone with tether? Because if you have the jailbreak keeps a file on your phone making it so you can't update. To solve this problem your going to have to reset your phone.
