THIngs I wish my Iphone could do

Well I have had my iphone for a week now and so far pretty good.
My wish list of things I want my iphone to do...(if anyone knows how to do it would be great)
1 send pictures via text messaging and also email (I loved this option on my palm)
2 be able to download my programs that i had on my palm onto my phone. ( I use medical software like medical formulary that I would love to have on my iphone that way would be truly intagrated).
3 Use voice recognition for phone calls so did not have to go into phone then into favorites or contact or keypad to make a call, also great for 911 emergencies
4 Something that is really getting on my nerves is when you are on a call and you want to hang up the screen is blank you have to touch the screen to end the call and sometimes i accidently hit 3 way calling or whatever icons are avaialbe.
5. I hate the way the ignore phone call works, i will be on another call and hit ignore and I will accidently drop my current call somehow. This is something that is really getting on my nerves.
I do love the phone, the itunes features are great:) The phone component is something that i think apple should have investiagted a little more. OH and the gps and interenet are really cool also.

  • Basic things I wish my iPod could do...

OK, here's my wish list. These are the features I wish I had on my iPod. They're small things. I'm hoping they will change some of these features in future updates.
1 - Why does shuffle mode have to be universal? I have some playlists that are just designed to listen to in shuffle mode. (Example: a smart playlist with all songs from one genre where My Rating is greater than two stars). I hate that every time I start that playlist I have to hit the Menu button three times, scroll down to Settings, scroll down to shuffle, and select Songs. Then, later if I want to listen to an album, I go all the way back out to the main menu to change the shuffle setting back to Off. Not all playlists should shuffle, though, so I should be able to set it for each playlist individually.
My wish: LET ME DEFINE A PLAYLIST AS A "SHUFFLE LIST" SO THAT WHEN I PLAY THAT PLAYLIST IT JUMPS INTO SHUFFLE MODE WITHOUT MY HAVING TO CHANGE THE SETTINGS MANUALLY EVERY TIME AND THEN CHANGE BACK WHEN I'M DONE.
2 - Why are audiobooks such a pain? If I take one of my books on CD and want to put it on my iPod, it's this long process where I change the file type I import as, and I merge the files together, and I run a little utility and change the file type. That kind of user-unfriendliness is very non-Apple, and does not fit with the kind of great design and interface I've come to expect.
My wish: LET ME IMPORT THE CD'S JUST THE WAY THEY ARE WITH ALL THEIR MULTIPLE TRACKS, THEN LET ME HIGHLIGHT ALL OF THEM AT ONCE AND GIVE ME A CHECKBOX IN THE INFO SCREEN THAT WILL DEFINE THEM AS ONE AUDIOBOOK.
3 - Audiobook pain, continued. Why does my iPod only keep track of where I left off in an audiobook if the audio file is one long, merged AAC? Since I can already set my audio files to "Remember Playback Position" regardless of their file type, how much harder would it be to have the iPod keep track of what chapter I'm in of my audiobook?
My wish: LET ME DEFINE AUDIOBOOKS OF ALL FILE TYPES TO REMEMBER WHICH TRACK I WAS IN, AS WELL AS THE PLAYBACK POSITION WITHIN THAT TRACK.

The error message you are getting sounds like you have jailbroken your iPhone or have updated to iPhone OS 4.0 Beta.
Eitherway, I would follow http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275 for a possible solution as these steps may not work.

  • ITunes cannot sync... apps installed on the iPhone could not be determined.

I am trying to activate an original iPhone.  I keep running into issues (partially because the rest of the world is activating 4Gs phones).  I would appreciate any help that is available.
I am working on a MacBook running OSX 10.5.8.  My iTunes has been updated- 10.5.
I am currently getting a message- iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPhone “MRL iphone” because the apps installed on the iPhone could not be determined. The iphone screen shows the usb cord/plug pointing to the itunes logo whether attached to a computer or not.  And says slide for emergency use.
-I have restored to factory settings several times both from a previous backup and set up as new phone.
-I have even attempted to use another Mac and a family member's windows machine with similar results on all.
-I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes
-I have put the phone into the recovery mode and restored from there
-I have restarted both the computer and phone numerous times
-I have replace the SIM card with a new card from the provider
-I have received an email saying the phone was activated (and have called to verify with the service provider)
I'm sure there are other things I have tried as well that I am forgetting, as I have been at this now for about 3days.  There have been times when I got nothing but a breif "accessing iTunes store" and then a white screen with the grey word iPhone in the middle.  At least now I have the normal summary screen when clicking on the device.  Unfortunately I am still getting an error "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPhone “MRL iphone” because the apps installed on the iPhone could not be determined." I am not attempting to sync apps, just sync the phone to get a current/clean backup.  I will want to sync the apps, just haven't been able to get that far.
By the way, prior to starting this process the iphone worked perfectly- no issues.  This just seems to have become an issue when I attempted to restore to factory settings for a clean start with the new line.
This is the furthest I have been able to get in the process.  I really need to get this up and running soon as I will need the phone for the work week.
    Please help!

Not sure if this is a solution or not but it seemed to work for me.  Simply restart your iphone.
    From the iphone troubleshooting page
To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

  • The Iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (26)

    Hello There,
My iPhone 4s as of Saturday as been giving me this error. I attempted to re-charge it in the USB Port on my XBox 360, as I always do, and then this is what has been showing on my screen for several days now.
I have attempted to charge it via a Computer, and iTunes let's me know 'The iPhone is in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored so that I can use it with iTunes'. Half way into the download, this error pops up 'The iPhone could not be Restored. An Unknown Error has Ocurred (26)'. I looked up online and could not find this specific Error Code, so I upgraded to the Newest Version of iTunes and tried once more, and to no avail.
What can I do to rectify this problem? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thank You

I've only found 2 things that can cause this specific error. Are to phones that have been jailbroken. Are you absolutely positive you never jailbroke it?
If you're absolutely positive that it was never jailbroken, then you've hit a wall. The Flash chip that the phone uses to boot from is either physically damaged or has been so badly corrupted it's unwritable. Either way, there is no way to fix it.

  • HT201210 I did everything on the list above, and am still getting the "...iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1). Now what?

Tried to run the iPhone update on my iPhone 4. After an interminable amount of time (4+ hours) the screen remained black. I unplugged it from the computer. Still black (as if off). I hit the round button twice, and got the USB > iTunes image on the screen. When I plugged it in, it said I had to restore it. (why??) So, I gave up and hit "restore." Two hours later, got an error message, "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)." I hit "more information" and went through the list of things to do, did them all. Then ran Restore again and got the same message.
Now what? Helpful info would be much appreciated.

  • The iPhone could not be restored. There is not enough memory available.

    Hi guys,
you all seem the be fairly acquainted with all possible iPhone problems. I was searching this forum for an answer to my problem. iTunes won't restore my iPhone because of an error mentioned in the title of this topic - The iPhone could not be restored. There is not enough memory available. I haven't found anything on the net that I haven't tried yet.
Am using Windows XP, iTunes 7.4.3 and the iPhone used to be on the firmware 1.0.2. I was trying to do the restore but it gave me that error message. I tryed uninstalling everything with WinASO registry cleaner, iTunes, apple device thing(or whatever), installed it 3 times, tried to force the previous firmware with Shift+restore, but nothing. I also tried to switch USB ports. I followed the instruction on how to remove iTunes exactly like it was described in another thread - no success.
Is there any help you can maybe provide, but don't tell me to go/send it to an Apple Store, since I live in Europe, where there is no official iPhone yet.
    PLease help

    Hi,
is there a newer version of iTunes than 7.4.3, which I am already using ?
    I don't think so.
And no, the iPhone has not been hacked before, I was using it like iPod, internet browser and stuff. But no calls.
My version of iTunes say 7.4.3.1.
I assume that by saying that your iPhone has not been hacked before means "it has never been hacked."
Are you paying AT&T for monthly service?
I would still try to download a fresh copy of iTunes if possible.
If it does not work, I think that you need to take the iPhone back to the Apple Store or call AppleCare for assistance. The store, and AppleCare, has a number of software tools to potentially diagnose the problems you are encountering.

  • TS3694 "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (3194)." Troubleshooting reveals no problems

I'm trying to restore an iphone 3GS before selling it. I've already erased everything by going into settings and clicking on erase and restore. The phone says to connect to iTunes and iTunes says "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (3194)." It is not jailbroken and all of the apps were deleted when I erased the phone. How can I get the phone ready for sale? Appreciate any advice you can give to this iPhone newb, please and thanks!
    Things I've done:
    - updated itunes software
    - force restart on iphone by holding the home and the power buttons
    - ran windows troubleshooter- no problems detected.

  • The iphone could not be restored an unknown error occurred 1013 ATTt iPhone

    AT&T iPhone 4
Last night when I plugged my phone in to iTunes, it told me I needed to update my phone. So I tried to do it. Then it said I need to restore it. So I pressed the "restore button". After several minutes, I get a pop-up error box stating "the iphone "iPhone" could not be restored an unknown error occurred 1013". I've read other discussions with the same issue, but none of the solutions work.
    Please help.

Exact same thing happened to me. I took it to a local Apple Store and they told me the port was corroded and so they replaced the phone. I took the phone back home, plugged it into itunes, told it to restore my old contacts, and BOOM same error. Iphone could not be restored an unknown error occurred 1013.
Seeing as how the nearest Apple Store is a two hour round trip from here, I'm very upset. What is up with this last update?

  • The iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occurred 1015

    Hello everyone,
After upgrading to ios 4, my iPhone 3GS is stuck recovery and I am asked to restore it. However the operation cannot complete since at the end I get an error message that " the iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occurred 1015". What should I do? I am not close to any apple store and I cannot go there? Also, does the warranty allows me to get this fixed?
    Thanks in advance

So that means that there is no way this thing can get fixed? How about degrading the ios 4.3 to 4.2? Is there any legal way to do that? Any comment/help is appreciated
P.S: I was thinking about jail breaking it since it is the only way that Google is suggesting. Would that be a better approach since I am tired of living with out a phone?

  • Error at tend of 2.0 Update "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored.

    Hi,
I updated to iTunes 7.7 last night. Got the 2.0 download and install from iTunes this morning. I started the install and walked away. Came back about 20 minutes later and the following error popped up from iTunes:
"The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1014)."
On the screen of the iPhone, it shows the USB cord with an arrow pointing at the iTunes icon.
Anyone know what gives? I'm tempted to start over, but did I just loose all of my data?
    Please help!

Restoring your iPhone will not solve your problem. The problem is not your phone or the software but Apple's Servers. I have your exact problem. The bad news is you won't be able to fix your situation until enough traffic is off of Apple's servers. Apple is not sure when these issues will be resolved.
I actually got through to Apple tech support earlier today and was advised not to try to update my phone till Saturday or Sunday at the earliest. They were very, very apologetic but Apple took on to much by launching the new iPhone and 2.0 software update worldwide all on the same day.
Right now my phone is useless but things will be better soon.

  • 'iPhone 5 could not be synced as it iPhone could not be found on network'?

Just set up iPhone 5 today - connected via cable to computer to get things up and running. All is fine except when I try to sync the phone over my home wi-fi network (which the phone is happily using to do all sorts of other things) I get the following pop up window in iTunes - 'iPhone 5 could not be synced as the iPhone could not be found on network'. So am a bit confused as to what to do get this to work.
    Any suggestions you clever people?
    Thanks.

I have the same problem after installing iTunes 11.1.4.62.  i cant believe there is no answer for this.  Worked fine old version iTunes.  I plug it in with cable, it sees it and some times it even syncs and sometimes it just drops the connection to iTunes and tells me phone cannot be found yet it is still connected and I see the Appli iPhone Drive  on the File Explorer.  I have been fighting this all morning.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  I did not save the old version in my downloads so guess i am out of luck.  If you have any ideas i would appreciate you help.  I am so dang frustrated.  I connect iPhone 5 to the cable and instantly recognizes it and I sell SN number and all.  Yet if try to backup it drops the phone or just sits there.  HELP PLEASE.

    Hi Peter,
Thank you for the note - I have seen similar replies on other posting errors and I see how that could make sense. The thing is, my iPhone is not jailbroken - it is from an authorized distributor. However, when I told them about the "no service" problem on the sim, they were unable to assist. Then my phone messaged that an itunes restore was required - so I did that, several times, to the error message now noted on my post. I wonder if there is some other way to over-write this message? Thanks very much.
