Top Level VI could not be opened
Hello.
I've got a problem building an application from my VI. I have a project consisting of a few classes. Lets call the main class TEST1. I can make different tests using the TEST1 members, create exe files and run them on different PCs in our LAB. I decided to make a new branch from my TEST1 class. I created a copy of this class say TEST2 in the same project, changed class members and the main test VI as I wanted. It works well if start it from labview. But when I created and exe file and tried to run it i got a message:"Top level VI(s) could not be opened". OK! I made very simple VI (member of my Test class) with just a while loop and a button, created exe and got the same message.
Does anybody know what should I check to find a problem? I can easily create new VIs in TEST1 class, make exe file and everything works, but I can not run exe files built from TEST2 VIs.
One more. When I made a simple VI with just a while loop I found that output folder contains not only simple exe file but all VIs and dlls which are used by the other TEST2 class members. Is this normal?
I get this error when I accidently click "Add Dynamic VI" instead of "Add Top Level VI" in the application builder.

Allright, here comes The Learning Curve.... just downloaded the trial version (CD on order)after using beta 4.1 for awhile. Though I removed the beta version via "add/remove programs", LR 1.0 automatically repopulated the previous images, and now, as I try to use the Develop module, a number of those images come tagged with an edit across the top "The file could not be opened", which inactivates the Develop tools.
This also happened with some of the images that were newly imported into LR 1.0. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?You have to repoint LR to where you moved them. Next time move them in LR, not in Explorer. They probably show a ? on the Grid thumnbail cell. Click it for one and navigate to show Lr where it is and LR should find the others.

On our build system, we use the global setting to code analyze all projects. One of our projects is a C# WIX custom action. This projects causes the build to fail with:
EACustomInstallActions.CA.dll' could not be opened -- 'An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
The ...CA.Dll target seems to be created by a WIX custom action. Does anybody have already encountered this issue and found a workaround?

</target>This problem appears to be ongoing 5 years after this thread was started. I have just run into it.
When WiX builds a custom action, the build proceeds as normal and produces a managed code output, say MyCustomActions.dll. Windows Installer doesn't support managed code in custom actions, so the managed code has to be wrapped in an unmanaged native code
wrapper, so in a post-build step, it injects the managed output into the unmanaged wrapper and _that_ then becomes the project's build output and will be named MyCustomActions.CA.dll. I believe that Code Contracts may be trying to open the unmanaged wrapper
file and discovering that it is not managed code ("invalid format").
In order for CCRewrite to work here, it would need to run on the managed code _before_ it gets wrapped in the unmanaged wrapper. I am not sure how we can hook into the build process to get that to happen.
It might be possible to somehow make a WiX Custom Action project by creating a standard C# class library, which would work correctly with CCRewrite, then somehow performing the WiX packaging as a post-build step. I'm not sure what is required though, exactly.

I close the textedit programme , open Pages, click on the 09 pages file to be opened and the message "The document “7-09 receipts” could not be opened. TextEdit cannot open files in the “Pages document”

You have tried to open a .pages document in TextEdit which can't read them.
If you are confused which program you are in look to the top left of the menu.
You can either drag the .pages file onto the Pages icon on the Dock, open it from within Pages' Open dialog, double click on it or right mouse click > open with.

"1250737 - SMMS: Trace file dev_ms could not be opened"
I have this error in smms on a CRM 7.0 W2k8 Failover Cluster, but the snote does not apply due to the version. Everything works, so I think it's not Security related.
Could you please help me in finding the root cause for the above error.

according to smms (goto/Trace level/increase, decrease) it seems, that he trace level could be changed in every combination where CI/DI/ASCS are running (see investigations below):
But by chance I found the following (1.):
1. If only DI is started I can read the dev_ms via smms, when ASCS was on the "DI"-Node -> neither (I)* nor (II)*
- Moving ASCS to the "CI"-Node, ms_dev was not found -> (II)*
*Compared with Note 1250737:
(I) using CI -> dev_ms could not be opened (due to M in CI "dev_ms on C":)
(II) using Application-Server not on the "ASCS-Node" -> dev_ms not found (absolute Path used instead of share)
2. If only CI was started, dev_ms could not be opened, regardless where the ASCS is running -> (I)
3. Both Application-Server running and ASCS on "CI"-Node:
- logged on DI for smms trying reading dev_ms via DI -> dev_ms not found (II)
(logged on DI for smms trying reading dev_ms via CI -> dev_ms not found (II))
- logged on CI for smms trying reading dev_ms via DI -> dev_ms could not be opened (I)

When I try to share a project to theater I get the message Your Theater could not be opened.There was a problem reading your movies from iCloud and the project does not share. Can anyone help?

Clips were fine, now say "Codec could not be opened"??

I brought some .avi clips into FCE 4 and they were fine during the whole editing process but then a friend was giving us some training and adjusted the audio levels of a few of the clips (by dragging the clips' gray bar) and now the clips say "Codec could not be opened." He even command-z'd everything he'd done (or so we thought). It's also possible that he adjusted more than I thought.
When you play the clips you can hear the audio but the Canvas says "unrendered." I tried to render them but got a message "Codec not found. You may be using a compression type with the corresponding hardware card" and the Canvas and Viewer say "Codec could not be opened."

I don't know what this means, but there is nothing that can done within the application that will change the codec or alter the media in any way. The only way for this to happen to change something on the computer itself, something in QuickTime, or changing the location of something.
Look at item properties for the AVIs in FCE and see exactly what it says. See if you can open the AVI media into the QuickTime player and get movie info there to see what QT says about it. Where did you get these files BTW? FCE does not work well with AVIs at all.
The first thing I suggest doing is to trash your preferences and repair permissions.

JRE Package could not be opened.
I am trying to update my java because pogo wont work without me doing so. when i try to install jre version 5 a message pops up saying 'this installation package could not be opened. verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package.'
Please help me as this is very annoying!!!I have removed and Re-downloaded java several times today. I can not even get java to open in tool bar. Goes straight to Desk Top. It was telling me that Hotspot was causing a Thread error. Then the Virtual Machine was causing errors. I went to upgrade several times today and site was temporarily down. I need java for Pogo and I get half way through a pogo log in and it takes me to Desk top again. I see I am not the only one having the same problem. Can you tell me what to do? I have tried everything to correct this headache.

"The file could not be opened" message
I'm a windows pc user with Lightroom 1.1. Today for the first time some of my library folders are in red font, and when I try to work on other images in develop mode I get a "The file could not be opened" message over the image.
I recently exported many of these images and then renamed some of the jpegs. But some that are inaccesable in lightroom I haven't exported or renamed.
Why did this occur and how can I get the files to open again so I can continue working on them?
Thank you!If the folders show in red, it means that they have been moved or renamed outside of Lightroom. If this is the case right-click on the red folder name and choose "Locate missing Folder". You can then browse to the folder.
If a file has been moved/renamed outside of Lightroom, the frame around the thumbnail will show a "?" at top right. Click on the "?" and click locate on the screen that pops-up.

Error: File could not be opened.
When managing the following and clicking on "Export To Excel", the following error occurs:
"Error: File could not be opened."
The same error occurs when doing the following:
- Trying to export Control Tables
- Trying to export Import Formats
- Trying to export Import Groups
- Trying to export Logic Accounts
- Trying to export Logic Groups
Does anyone please have any suggestions on how to fix this? The odd thing is that these files are actually created and can be opened fine!

- MS Office Excel 2007 SP3 is installed on the server. The Excel files are created and can be opened manually fine on the server (by going to C:\FDMData\Outbox\ExcelFiles). But FDM raises the above error whenever one clicks on the "Export To Excel" button and does nothing more.
- The admins here have apparently now added the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop folder (the FDM app server is 64-bit) but it does not appear to have made a difference. Will the FDM service account need privileges to this location?
- Apparently the FDM service account has privileges to the FDMData\Outbox\ExcelFiles location, but I will double check this... -

Hello everybody.
I have a problem with my premiere C6. Whenever I tried to open a specific project (the one I am working on), the follow message pops up and I cannot access the project. Even when I open premiere and "open recent"
Here's the message:
"This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
I don't know what to do. One day everything is fine, the next one I can't work.
Please help.

When opening a CS6 file in CC2014, I received this alert:
"The preset used by one or more sequences in this project requires third-party components that could not be located. These sequences will be modified to use a custom setting instead..."
The file would open and I was able to make changes and even save seemingly without any issues. However, when I attempted to open the file again, I was given the alert that you posted here:
"This Project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
The problem seemed to originate when a "custom setting" was generated for CC2014 to open the project.
What I did to fix the issue was AS SOON AS I OPENED the older version in Premiere CC, I would immediately go to the Sequence Settings for EVERY sequence in the file and create my own custom settings based on my project. Once that was done, I could begin working on the project and it would save and open without issue. This only needs to be done the first time you open an older version of your project before making any changes or saving the file.
I discovered that the "Custom Setting" that is originally generated when converting the older version to the new, created a funky "Video Preview" size of 16x16 pixels. Once I put all the settings in order, Premiere CC was happy again.
Still haven't figured out a fix for the random crash during operation and the almost guaranteed crash when quitting Premiere from the top menu bar.
PS Mark Mapes, I did try the fixed that you linked to in your post but they did not do the trick for me. Is there any updated you know of on the horizon? Thanks. -
I am trying to open my iTunes on a Windows XP laptop and get the error message 42404 "iTunes application could not be opened. Please repair or reinstall QuickTime". I did that and it did not help. Any ideas?
