Translating ACCOUNT at Historical Rate

Hi all,
Can someone please help because there does not seem to be anything in the documentation regarding this or I must be missing it?
I have several ACCOUNTs that need to be translated at historical rates.  In other words, users will enter the Local Currency amounts and the corresponding Translated Currency amounts for these ACCOUNTs in an input template.  However, the translated currency amounts get re-translated at some other exchange rates when I run the FX Restatement package.
I need to tell the application to ignore re-translating the translated currency amounts for these certain ACCOUNTs and just leave the translated currency amounts entered by the users alone as they are.  Can this be done in SAP BPC?
Thank you.
Regards.

Hi Joost,
Thanks for the tips.
I suppose that the values I specify in the dimension prompts in FX Restatement SSIS package will define or delimit the scope that the stored proc SPRUNCONVERSION will process, in terms of which dimension members to process.
If you don't mind, just a few more things to cement my understanding.
Is the parameters list for SPCONVERSION fixed in terms of the dimension types I can pass into the stored proc? Also, must I specify the dimesions in a particular order (e.g. can %CATEGORY_SET% be placed before %APP%) or can I enter any parameters in any order that I like?  Does this also hold true for all other stored procedures?  Is there any official documentation on this?
Secondly, the FX Restatement SSIS package asks users to select the value of 3 dimensions: CATEGORY, ENTITY and TIME, which I select using a drop down list.  I guess other dimensions not specifically asked for will be taken from the Current View settings.
However, the SPRUNCONVERSION is written as:
*RUN_STORED_PROCEDURE=SPRUNCONVERSION('%APP%','%CATEGORY_SET%','','GLOBAL','%SCOPETABLE%','%LOGTABLE%')
In contrast to the FX Restatement SSIS package, the member for TIME and ENTITY is not specifically fed into SPRUNCONVERSION.  May I know how I should reconcile this or should I not be bothering about this in the first place?
Thank you very much.
Regards.

  • Translating equity at the historic rate (BPC 7.5 NW)

    Hello,
For group reporting purposes, our accounting policy is to state our consolidated equity at historic rates. That means that net assets of all subsidiaries are translated to GBP at the closing rate and the income statememt of all non-GBP subsidiaries are translated at the yearly average rate. The equity for all non-GBP is not re-translated but the difference between the equity at the closing rate and the equity at the historic rate is posted to FCTR in reserves.
Anyone has any idea how to implement this in BPC?
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Thanks for your response. I would really appreciate if you could expand on your comment above, as the rule needs to do several things:
-The opening balance of equity (in any particular BPC account code) needs to be at the previous period's closing rate.
-The movement during the period in the account needs to be at the average rate.
-FCTR needs to be calculated, which is the difference between the LC at closing rate, less the amounts mentioned above. But the FX will be posted to a different account.
    Thank you very much again.

  • Currency Translation at Historical Rates

    Hi,
We wish to translate Retained Earnings, Equity and Investment FS Items at historical rates. I wish to understand the following -
    1) For equity and investment line items the system should refer the Additional Financial Data for GC value. However in our case we found that the same does not happen everything (even though parameters such as profit center, partner profit center and partner unit match)..
    2) I wish to understand how the system translates retained earnings.
We are implementing SEM-BCS at a client site and hence we wish to migrate historical data.
    Regards,
    Shibu

    1) Can you please provide a detailed example of AFD vs. Totals and the resulting translations, as well as how translation is configured for the example, for us to assess what is actually occuring?
    2) Because there are many options with respect to transaltion in BCS it would be helpful for us to know how retained earnings should be translated in order to provide suggestions. For US GAAP, it is typical to translate RE on a periodic basis at the month's avg. rate in order to coincide with the corresponding earnings/losses.

  • Period Rate & Historical Rate?

    Dear all,
    1) To define "Period Rate" is for translation purpose, am I right?
    2) I define a new responsibility for a company only allow them to entering GL, if I need to performing translation, I need to enter historical rates only for owner’s equity accounts ( I mean the balance) only for the first month, no need afterwards?
    Please advice,
    Amy

    Dear Jogendra,
I have followings question from your reply:
    1) Why the historical rates should be defined for all
the periods if it is different in different periods? When we run translation, historical rate defined for code combinations looks for immediate period in which the rate is defined. So,if the historical rates are not same from one period to another due to business reason and the rates are not defined in the immediately preceding period then the code combination would look for earliest period available for translation. So,we should define for all the period.
    >
    2) What is your meaning of "Other rates defined for a
code combination"? What rates I need to define in
code combination?Other rates means period rates defined for a period for all the code combinations other than owner's equity accounts.
Except in case of historical rates for owner's equity, there is no need to defined any rate for each code combination.

  • SEM 4.0 - BPS Planning Function - Currency Translation (Account Based) !

    Hi,
Currently we are migrating from SEM 3.1 to SEM 4.0  and we are using Currency Translation (Account Based)and would like to use the same functionality, but for some reason the CT functionality is not working properly.  It is throwing garbage numbers in SEM 4.0.
Is anyone out there facing similar problem on the Currency Translation (Account Based) functionality on SEM 4.0.  Appreciate your help.
    Thx,
    Jay

    Hi,
We are working on Integrated Planning(IP). We are currently using a key figure based model, where in we have 0amount, 0amocac and 0amoccc for transactional currency, controllling area currency and object currency amounts.
If we go with account based model for keyfigures, i.e by taking currency type as 00, 20, 10 , we have a problem with the currency translation functions.
Could you please let us know, how we can handle currency translation with the account based model?
    Thanks,

When we try to clear the vendor through F110 we are facing error. Document posted with SDRU currency. It is expiry currency. It need to clear through USD . Vendor contain customer in the master data. But we are unable post in System No 1
Another system we are able to post. It is automatically taking GL accounts for rate difference accounts for sales and purchase accounts.
Here the entry is like below

    002 25      Customer                   488,98

We want to compare both systems to find out the reason why it is not posing in one system

But we are unable to find the Gl account Rate difference for sales a/c where it is assigned.
We have seen OBKP, VKOA, OBA1 . Please let us know where this Rate difference for sales a/c may be assigned
Please let us know Default account assignment for Rate difference for sales a/c

    Hi,
Regarding the rate differences. These accounts come from OB09 where it is defined for the Reconcilliation account in the customer/ Vendor.
The account "Rate difference for purchases" is coming from OB09 , it is not from OBYC-KDB in this case.
    Kind regards

  • Aleternative account no historical information

We have Alternative Accounts defined at Chart of account level ( COA A). These
alternative accounts, have been assigned to our operating GL accounts
defined under Operative Chart of Accounts ( COA B).
Our Cleint is expected to see the Line item information at Alternative
Account level historically. This means, Alternative accounts assigned
recently ( mid of the year) for the GL accounts where transactional data already posted in
    the past.
Is there any correction programs or notes, that
writes information on Alternative Accounts for the documents posted in
    the past in GL accounts.
    Appreciate your suggestions and help

  • In FBl5n (after accounting process) exchange rate gets change

    Dear Experts ,
    I am  facing
issue regarding in FBl5n (after accounting process) exchange rate
    gets change.
Due to this, there is a difference in billing
    amount.
According to the KBA 1481328, If there is a manual entry in
the sales order field VBKD-KURRF (Goto -> Header -> Accounting),
then it is copied into VBRK-KURRF. Otherwise VBRK-KURRF is determined during
invoice creation from the currency tables (Transactions: OB08, OB07 and
OB22) according to the billing date.
It is supposed that manual entry has higher priority.
    Why system is
fetching the exchange rate from OB08 when manual entry has first priority?
    Kindly Advice.
    Regards,
    Shachi

First of all, you got the KBA number wrong. It is a KBA 1481238 - How are different exchange rates (Price, FI postings and Conditions) determined in billing documents, not SAP Note 1481328.
Now, if you manually change the exchange rate in sales order(SO - Goto - Header - Accounting), as per standard this will not be able impact your pricing. As the system always uses the local currency to convert currencies.
For further detail refer SAP Note 123298 - Euro: Conversion of document currency in sales&distribution. That can be helpful in understanding the standard behaviour and solution to the same.
In addition to that from Sales Order to Billing, we have copying control field for "Price Exchange Rate Type" which can impact the result for exchange rate determination. Where the option available are:
A - Copy from sales order
B - Price exchange rate = Accounting rate
C - Exchange rate determination according to billing date
D - Exchange rate determination according to pricing date
E - Exchange rate determination according to current date
    F - Exch.rate determination accord.to date of services rendered
    Thanks, JP

  • Translating accounts of type BalanceRecurring

    Hi,
I am trying to find a way to translate accounts of type BalanceRecurring.
For Treasury we have set up a load of current Cash Balances at banks worldwide on a day-to-day basis with FDM.
However we cannot trust that all banks have a reported balance each day, and thus I would like to keep the balance from the day before in the system.
This I can achieve by changing the account to type "BalanceRecurring" however this account-type will not translate in to Application default currency.
Is there a "standard" translate rule that will achieve this ?

    Søren Blak

BalanceRecurring accounts don't translate by design. You could overwrite the default translation logic or copy the amount in the BalanceRecurring account into another account with a different account type.

Isn't posting date available in cube ??
0FISCPER3 to date is not possible.Instead use posting date in your query.

  • Exchange rate fetched while calculating depreciation is historical rate

    Hello All,
    Following is the issue:
As part of depreciation process, SAP posts amount in local and group currency. SAP while converting local currency depreciation value into group currency (USD) isnu2019t able to pick up right foreign currency rate i.e average rate for that month. Instead SAP chooses historical exchange rate which existed at the time of capitalization and converts the depreciation value.
Exchange rates for both historical and average are maintained in OB08.
I would like to know whether any more configuration is required or should i do a debug and understand why historical rate is fetched instead of Average rate
    Appreciate an early reply
    Best regards,
    Sundar

    Hello Srinu,
Does ECC 6.0 allows any tweaking in configuration or in the depreciation program to fetch average exchange rate for depreciation?
    Appreciate your time!

  • Example of hedge accounting for interest rate risk

    Hello
Can anyoe give an example of hedge accounting for interest rate risk with values using a variable interest rate bond and a interest rate swap where a prospective and retrospective effectiveness test would be positive?
    Thanks,
    Arjan

not precisely - the respective flow is still in status 'S' @ TPM13, so in this sense it looks consistent. what is though strange that if you look into the tab 'Cash flow' in the Posting view, you can see a status 'Interest rate not adjusted for flow', though there is interest adjustment executed as per the screenshot attached.

  • BILLING TO ACCOUNTING - FOREIGN EXCHANGE RATE IN THE PAST

    Hi All,
    1.     In FI, we are maintaining translation rates on regular basis and the translation (FI)/ pricing (SD) date is our reference in SD transactions from Contract to Billing.
    2.     In Contract, we maintain foreign currency, exchange rate, and pricing date.  Here in the contract, we are currently billing an item in the past using exchange rate in the past as well.
    3.             However, when we pass this to billing, pricing date is updated on its current date.
    4.             Because of this, accounting entry that was recognized was also translated on current date.
Is there any way that we can change the pricing date to the Billing Document so that the accounting entries will pick up translation rates maintained in the past.  Please advise.

The issue was resolved by also maintaining exhange rate inside SO/Contract in "Exchange-Rate Accounting" field.

  • Translation date for exchange rate type 'M'

    Hello friends,
How do I change the translation date for an exchange rate type, for a particular company code?
My client wants the translation date for the exchange rate type 'M' to be document date instead of posting date. It is required as per Romanian Law of land.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Mike,
I assumed your question is for an additional local currency for a company code (this can be changed in OB22).  For the first local currency, the translation date type in OB22 is always set to 3 (Translation Date) and cannot be changed (hence, greyed out).  Following that, in accounting entry transactions (for example FB01), you will see a field (Translation Date) where you can specify a date for which you want the system to fetch exch. rate from the exch. rate table.  In your situation, you will have to enter 'document date' there.
PS: The reply above by Ravi applies only to tax items' translation, not for all items.  He is basically talking about the indicator that you see in OBY6.
