Trouble compressing Qtime to mp4.zip

Hello out there,
Ihave a Qtime movie 16.3MB and need to compress for email. I Control-clickd the file and selected "create archive of..." and created the mp4.zip file. The problem is the file did not compress. It remains at 16.3MB which exceeds the 10MB limit on the size of email files which can be sent through my yahoo acct.
Thanks

Don't know what settings you used in the file that could have made it larger in size. No matter.
I use my iDisk to send large files (just email a link to it).
You can also send files using iChat (no file size limit).
Last, there are dozens of servers that allow upload/download of "private" files. Their limits go up to GB's and usually small files like yours are free.
Sorry I don't have any names or links of these services as I don't use them.

  • Reading a Compressed File from a ZIP File, which is an entry of ZIP File

    Hello, Experts,
Would it be possible somebody to help me with code example for the following problem?
I want to read a compressed file from a ZIP file, which is an entry of ZIP File, without extacting/writing files on file system. Is this possible?
Lets say we have a ZipFile1. There is ZipFile2 inside ZipFile1. And inside ZipFile2 is FileA. The scenario is reading FileA without extracting on file system.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Cheers
    RADY

The classes you want to be using are java.util.zip.ZipInputStream and and ZipEntry from the same package. Construct the ZipInputStream with the input you have for the outer zip. Loop with ZipInputStream.getNextEntry until you find the inner zip you're looking for - that method returns a ZipEntry, and you get the name of the zip entry with ZipEntry.getName. Read the ZipInputStream from that point into some buffer, and read that buffer into a new ZipInputStream - rinse and repeat until you have the contents of the file in the zip in the zip...

  • Can I delete files once I compress them into a zip file?

I am trying to get more space in my hard drive. One of the suggestions is to compress files I don't use. Once I compress them into an archive zip file, it looks like the files are still there.  I'm thinking that I should delete the original files but am afraid to do so. What percentage space do I save when I compress?

What percentage space do I save when I compress?
That depends on the type of file. Files that are already compressed, such as most media files, won't get smaller, and they may get larger. Text files will compress by about half, on average, but that will probably save a negligible amount of space.
The right solution to your problem is to move the files you don't often need to an external hard drive. That drive must be backed up along with the internal one.

  • Compressing a folder of zip files how small does it make it

    Hello,
I'm trying to put a lot of files on two DVDs and it would help me to know if I zip each file in the folder then zip the folder who small can it get.  Right now my folder size will reduce by 2 megabytes 7.17 GB TO 7.15 GB

You can try using gzip in Terminal with the highest compression ratio (9), but you will not squeeze that much more, and will take longer to compress.
    Consider using DL DVDs

  • Compressing .mov to mp4 comes out in Slow Motion!

I have Compressor version 3.5.3 but I don't think that's what the problem is.  I'm trying to compress an 11GB Quicktime file down to a couple of GB.
    It's a PAL .mov file, 1920x1080, 25fps, 48000kHz/16.
These are the Settings I chose :
    Video: Encoder MPEG4, 1920x1080, 25fps,
Key Frame interval:  I change 15 to 25.  Is that wrong?
    Bit rate: medium VBR
Audio:  Mono because Stereo greyed out 48000kHz.
Bit rate 64kbps is what comes up with 48000kHz.  (When I changed it to 16bit it brought 22000kHz)
Frame Controls Option is off.  Is that correct?
The result was a clip in Slow Motion Video and Audio alike.
What did I do wrong?  Is there an incompatibility somewhere?  I'd be most grateful for any suggestion.  Thank you,

Hello Russ, these are the 3 Inspector screenshots you requested:
    1)  Inspector for the Quicktime file to be compressed:
    2)  Inspector Summary 1
    3)  Inspector Summary 2
    4)  Inspector Encoder 1
    5)  Inspector Encoder 2
That's how I ended up with slow motion in the converted mp4 file.  What do you make of it?
Many thanks in advance for any light you could throw on this.

  • Trouble Backing up Files to Zip or Thumb.  Error "Item .. already exists"

After years of trouble free backup, today when I tried to back up my files to a Zip and to a Thumb drive, every now and then I get the following error message " The item ___ cannot be written because an item with that name already exist. Do you want to stop/continue" Then no matter if I hit stop or continue, the backup just stops at that point. Any ideas?

    Hello bneck,
First....welcome to the discussions area. When I get odd problems like this, I look for easy solutions first.
This is what I would do:
    1. - Check to be sure that a file with at name is not already on the target disc (Zip or flash)
    2. - I would rebuild the desktop file of the main computer.
(Look under the help menu, you hold down the apple and option keys <2 keys> at start-up.
    3. - I would rebuild the desktop file of the disk you want to save to. To do this, hold down the apple and option keys when inserting zip or plugging in flash.. This will allow you to rebuild the desktop file of the target device.
    4. - If these tips don't work another work around is to open the file you are having trouble with.....then do a save as and select the zip or flash.
I suspect that one of the above solutions will do the trick.........HTH.........mGb.........Jim

  • Having trouble compressing/burning  16:9 HD HELP!!!

    Hello,
I have a sequence that I'm trying to export using compressor, to import into DVD SP and burn. The footage was primarily shot on 16mm and P2. There was also some footage shot on one of those high-speed(nano-sec cams- about 1200fps). I'm pretty sure everything was captured @ 720P60. My timeline settings are @ 720P60 16:9HD When I preview in Compressor, it defaults to a 4:3 aspect ratio. When I toggle the preview window to 16:9 I see moire effects.
I've also got questions about workflow--
I've read some posts that mention capturing in (AIC),
converting HD-to-SD then letterboxing in DVDSP...
Idon't have time to recapture everthing but was wondering if anyone could please help, get the aspect ratio that I'm seeing on my HD monitor to look as good compressed and burned without the jaggies!!!!!
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    thanks guys

moire is definitely not in the original recording
All film was converted to DVCPRO HD tape, P2 was imported via "P2 import"
It was captured at 720p59.94 frame size is 960x720. no field dominance.
Yes, we need to play in standard DVD player. Do I have to convert to SD(4:3) before exporting? then letterboxing 16:9 in DVD SP?
    Thanks again!

  • Compressing PDFs into a zipped file I can email to a coworker

How can I compress a bunch of PDF documents that can be emailed to a coworker that probably has a PC?

Hi keelyindra: Quite easy actually. If the files are not in a common folder, highlight as many files as you need right click (Control) Click and from the resulting menu items, select "compress items". If they are all contained in one folder, simply right click on the folder and select compress.
    Hope this helps

  • Video Trouble-Won't encode .mp4's to Ipod

I just bought Quicktime 7 pro for 1 purpose only, to encode movie formats into a format that Ipod can understand. However when I open a .mp4 movie into Quicktime 7 pro and click export into Ipod format, the application starts normal and then EVERYTIME it hits 8% complete the application stalls out? What's going on? The movie will play fully in quicktime 7, so there is no data flaws on my end, how do I fix this - or get my money back?

H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats.

You may have to either adjust the dimensions or lower the data rates to get your .mp4 file to the iPod video settings.

  • I'm having trouble excluding iPhoto from a zip backup

I'm backing-up my son's MacBook Pro and I've been able to zip all of his data, but the resulting zip file is very, very large. I'd like to exclude iPhoto from the backup, but cannot figure out the correct sequence of characters to get the exclude to work. The beginning part of the command works: zip -r  -v  -9 Backups/KevDocs00 Pictures/*
It's the extra piece of the command I cannot figure out.  I've tried:
    -x”*/Pictures/iPhoto Library/”
    -x"/Pictures/iPhoto Library/*”
    -x"Pictures/iPhoto Library/*”
    -x”*/Users/username/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/”
    -x”*/\Users/username/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/”
    -x”/Users/username/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/*”
    -x”*/\Users/username/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/”
    HELP!

    I don't really understand your question/statement.
I zipping a few folders on my sons MacBookPro, then my desktop will copy that zip file to my desktop where it will be part of my usualy backup process.

  • Trouble compressing with Chapter Markers

I have a very large (136 gigs) 10 bit uncompressed quicktime of a 17 minute movie. Knowing that DVD Studio Pro will only let me place chapter markers on I frames, I brought my quicktime into final cut and placed 5 chapter markers exactly where I want them. I've now tried to export that quicktime with DVD Studio Pro markers and then compress into an MPEG-2 in Compressor. I've also exported with chapter markers and then compressed into an MPEG-2. I've also tried sending my sequence straight to Compressor and, using one of the tabs, "maintained DVD Studio Pro meta-data." No matter what, every time that I bring my final compressed MPEG-2 into DVD Studio Pro, the chapter markers do not appear. Any thoughts? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Welcome to the Boards
When you open the movie in QuickTime are you seeing the markers? Have you tired using Export -> Chapter Markers (not DVD SP Markers?)
Take a look here shows selection of Chapter Markers on export

  • Trouble compressing 30p for 24p sequence

    Hi everybody. Here's my situation:
I'm editing a video shot with two Canon XH A1 cameras shooting in HDV 1080 24P and one Canon MK2 shooting in H.264 1080 30p.
The frame rate for the bulk of the footage -- i.e. from the HX A1 is 23.98.
I converted the MK2 footage using compressor to HDV 1080p24, with a frame rate of 24. Compressor doesn't give an option for 23.98 (or am I not seeing?). The converted footage looks good and requires no rendering in a 1080p24 Final Cut timeline. But when I use large chunks of it (more than a minute or so), it gradually goes out of sync (with audio from the other cameras). I was able to compensate for this in the edit, but when I exported the video from final cut, the video -- made up of both MK2 and XH A1 footage -- became gradually out of sync, so that by the end of the 77 minute movie, the video and picture were off by 81 frames.
Any suggestions on fixing this will be most appreciated. I assume it has to do with mixing footage with 23.98 and 24 frame rates.

While this doesn't directly address your sync problems, you can convert to 23.98 fps with Compressor.
The key step, in case you've yet to try it, is to manually input the frame rate (select Custom, then enter 23.98) in your target's Video settings (the QT-like window). (That drop-down box does not give you a selection for 23.98, and I'm guessing that's why you went 24 fps exactly, right?). After that, proceed as you were (with Frame Controls 'n whatnot).
That said, I'm not 100% confident this will fix your sync issues -- because sync issues can be caused by any number of things, including sequence/project corruption, in my experience -- but it's worth a shot.

  • How do I ZIP compress existing TIFF tiles in Lightroom 3?

I have imported about 1000 .tif files into Lightroom and done some cropping and basic editing to them. They are 8bit uncompressed tiff files in Adobe1998 color space. I am trying to find a way to compress the original tiff files with ZIP compression in Lightroom. I don't want to export them because I want to save the original files and their edit history. I don't want to loose the original files before I cropped or color corrected them. I just want to reduce file sizes. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks so much for your help!

You can´t compress original files into zipped files within Lightroom.  If you are not actively using these images in LR, you may wish to zip them all up outside LR and then delete the originals. LR will then show them as missing, but will keep the metadata, including editing history, in the catalog.  You could write the metadata to xmp files before you zip up your originals, and include these xmp files with the originals in the zipped folder, if you want to play it really safe.  It is not necessary to keep the originals around as such.  LR keeps track of what they were and what had been done to them internally, even if they are missing.  When you need to work with these files again in LR, you can unzip them and show LR where they are.

  • Download report as compressed/zip file

    Hi,
i was wondering if it is possible to download a report compresed/(zip file). Some reports are more then 10MB and it's sometimes timeconsuming to download it to you local machine via a slow internet connection. If this is possible.. Is it then also possible to create an Ibot to sent a zipped report to mail :)
    regards,
    Osman

I don't think you can compress a file or zip it and then download it. But you can schedule an ibot to download the file to a local drive using javascripts at night when no one is around and it doesn't matter how long it takes. Then, if you need to email them out, you can zip them there and email them. Here are some links that will help you with the javascripting:
