Trouble getting internet route table distributet in a VRF

Hi every one ..
I'm have some trouble getting distributed the internet routing table between PE routers ...
CE1 og PE1 works fine, BGP routes all internet routes are shown i en route table, but distributing between PE1 and PE2 is now working .. any one having a clue !!.
My gold is to move internet access into it's oven VRF, and away from the global routing table
In the MPLS core aim running the same AS number as our official AS, that we use for peering to the internet..

For VPN routes to be exchanged between the two PEs, you first need to configure VPNv4 address family on each one of the PEs.
Carrying the full Internet routing table over VPNv4 will work but it is not very scalable since all PE routers have to hold the full Internet routing table in the VRF context in addition to potentially full Internet routing table in the global routing table. If you want to exchange full Internet routing table between the two CEs, it would be preferable to use something Carrier Supporting Carrier (CSC).

    I have been challenged with the task of putting together a 15-20 minute presentation of how I might go about solving the problem of the growth of the internet routing table.
    If I am understanding the question correctly - as the internet grows so will the number of IPv4 and (moreso) IPv6 prefixes that appear in the global internet routing table. This will mean that the PE and P routers in a Service Provider network will find themselves having to deal with more prefixes that will in turn increase the possibility of bogons interferring with proper routing and increase the load on the routers themselves.

    > Spend Money and upgrading existing routers to handle the load
    Obviously with only a 20 minute window I cannot talk about much and I would like the options to be innnovative and interesting. LISP seems like an interesting option and I would like to learn about it - however I am having trouble tracking down resources that give a basic introduction to exactly what and how LISP works (every time I try and search for it a get pushed to sites talking about the programming language ).
    So this leads me to two questions:
    1. Is there anything important, vital or interesting that I have not included in my quickly put together list above.
    2. Is anyone aware for a good site/resource that explains LISP from a beginners/tutorial-type perspective.

  • Trouble getting internet access

    I'm having trouble getting the internet to open up using SAFARI when my MAC wakes up.
    When I try to bring it up I get the following message "Redirect Server: Rapid Logic/1.1 MIME-version: 1.0 Connection: close Content-Type: text/html Location:http://launchmodem/redirectBS.htm"
    The only way I get it to work is to type in "http://launchmodem/redirectBS.htm"
    and I get this message "WARNING!
    Unable to resolve your redirection DNS entry
    Please clear browser cache close and then reopen it to try again"
    Then I hit ok and it works.
    Any ideas on why this happens and how to fix it?

    Forgot to mention that I am I am using a wireless router to connect if that is important.

  • Phone unable to get Host Routing Tables

    Hey,
    I've been on with Rogers tech support for sometime today.
    My originating issue was wireless wouldn't work and everytime i tried to scan for networks the bb would freeze and auto restart. I did a backup and wiped the device and wireless was working yet again.
    But now i'm unable to get data services at all, apparently with rogers you're supposed to get EDGE and not edge. You're also supposed to have 8 entries in the Host Routing Table and i have none.
    Rogers has wiped the handheld, reloaded all applications to barebones and still the issue persists. 
    Whenever i try to do a full restore it errors out at reloading WLAN Profiles and options.
    Before all this started and it was wiped trying to view WIFI Options an error popped up "Uncaught Exception: padded byte out of range" now i remembered that from memory so the Uncaught part maybe wrong.
    Really don't want to drop another $500 on a phone literally 2 years after i spent $400 for this thing.

  • Having trouble getting ethernet router off computer to use local wifi

    My daughters touchscreen laptop was used on an ethernet router at college.  She is now home and we use an AT&T elevate hot spot.   The laptop will not let her online due to  looking for router.  How can we get the router off and get our internet in?

    This is answer may seem counter-intuitive to your question:
    How to Assign a Static IP Address in Windows 7, 8, XP, or Vista
    The computer may be set up to use a Static IP address and / or it is set up to look for a particular Internet Service Provider -- (DNS Server), that is, the provider at the school.
    You might go in and check the Network setup.
    You may need to do this in the WiFi and Lan Network Adapter settings if such are available.
    If your computer is set up as shown in the directions in the Link -- then you want to make the following changes to remove that static IP setup and allow your computer to be "free" to select your home Wifi network.
    Local Area Connection Properties window:
    Where it suggests in the directions that you Select
    "Use the following IP address"
    and
    "Use the folling DNS Server Address"
    on your computer:
    You confirm / Select "Obtain a IP Address automatically"
    and
    You confirm / Select "Obtain DNS Server address automatically"

  • Trouble getting BGP route to be primary

    We have an MPLS network between locations using BGP. Several locations have a VPN connection as a backup and use OSPF for those routes.
    When an MPLS link goes down, the traffic switches over to the VPN connection just fine. But when the MPLS link comes back up, the OSPF route is still overriding the BGP route.  I've changed the weights for both BGP & OSPF but still can't get the BGP route to override the OSPF route.
    Any ideas as to what I'm missing?

    Hi,
    IMHO, you should use the same Weight for both the BGP prefix redistributed from OSPF and received from the BGP neighbor.
    And set other attribute (Local Preference, e.g.) to make the prefix received from the BGP neighbor to win when the MPLS interface goes Up again.
    Another issue might be though:
    When the MPLS interface is Down, you get the OSPF prefix redistributed to your BGP table, And when the MPLS interface goes Up again, you might be advertising this prefix to the backbone. And it can beat the prefix advertised from the remote site. If it's your case, I'd also try to prepend your AS number several times to the prefix advertised from your router to make it less preferred within the backbone comparing to the original BGP prefix.

  • Trouble getting internet connection

    Hi, lately, I've been having trouble connecting to the internet. What will happen is, it will only read the network on and off (sometimes it reads it, sometimes it doesn't), and when I do get a signal, it's pretty weak. Even if I click linksys from the top bar, it will try to connect for a few seconds, then just stop trying and now connect. However, when I'm closer to the router, it works fine.
    It's almost as if the signal is just barely reaching my computer, but I know that isn't the case because my PS3 gets perfect internet connection at both of my houses in the same location as my computer, so it must be the computer.
    Any ideas on how to fix it?

    I haven't tried anything really, except for powering everything down and back up.
    But like I said, I've had the exact same problems at different locations with different routers. It's not the router(s), it's my computer, it's the exact same problem no matter where I try it, I'm also not getting a signal from next door (which I always get) unless I go outside near the next door neighbor's house. Unless I'm extremely close to a base, I usually won't pick up a signal, although sometimes I randomly will for a few minutes.

  • Trouble getting internet through Airport Express

    I am trying to set up the most basic wireless network with a cable modem, Airport Express and G4 Powerbook running 10.4.6. I have went through all the steps of setting up the modem then the Airport Express and configuring it with Airport Admin. and all that. I get perfect signal from the express but when I open Safari it doesn't do anything. It doesn't come up with the network diagnostic "Not Connected to the Internet" screen or anything. When I plug my modem directly into the Powerbook through ethernet it works fine.
    It seems as though I am just missing a step or an option or something like that.
    I have also tried to use my roomates old Motorola WA480G wireless router with similar results. I can get Wi-Fi signal through the Airport card but Safari brings up the network diagnostic screen.

    I am having this exact same problem, only using a Dell laptop with Windows XP instead of a Mac. I had my Airport Express set up on a LAN at work a couple of months ago and it worked perfectly. It's been in storage for a couple of months, and now that I am trying to set it up at home with my cable modem, I can't get it to connect to the internet.
    When I plug the modem in with an ethernet cable everything works perfectly. But when I plug it into the airport (after doing the power down/power up process) the LED goes solid green, but nothing will load in my browser. I can use other wireless networks without problem.
    I also can't get it to print anymore. When I plug the printer directly into my computer it prints just fine. But when I plug it into the airport, it won't print. I've set the printer up using Bonjour, and the Airport Admin utility detects the printer. But when I print I get an error message saying that the printer failed to print the document.
    Any ideas?

  • Trouble getting Internet Snow Dual Ethernet

    I'm connected to my Snow base station--when I go into diagnostics, I have GREEN lights for:
    Airport
    Airport Settings
    Network Settings
    ISP
    But RED lights for:
    Internet
    Server
    I've tried restarting everything to no avail. The modem is working and the lights are flashing on the base station indicating a connection, but it's not reaching my computer.
    I have a feeling it's the internet settings (address/DHCP and all that other stuff I don't understand).
    Thoughts?

    Launch Network Utility, select the "Ping" tab, enter "discussions.apple.com" (without the quotes) and click the "Ping" button. If the result is 100% packet loss, change the address to "207.246.192.8" (also without the quotes). If the result is "0% packet loss", then there's something wrong with your DSN settings. In AirPort Utility check those settings in the Internet/Internet Connection panel. In System Preferences select the "Network" panel, then the AirPort connection item, click on the "Advanced" button and select the "DNS" tab.

    Got a really strange issue which I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for. Facts of the issue:
    - Some customers, all with a specific ISP, cannot access a hosted service we host internally
    - External user can reach service but never gets a response - hence focussing on reachability of their public IP
    - Cisco 3845 router used, peers with service provider over BGP - receives full internet routing tables
    - All affected customers receive dynamic IP addresses within the same /10 public IP range
    I received an example IP address and when doing "show ip route x.x.x.x" for this IP, the router responds "Subnet not in table". When trying to traceroute to the IP, the router doesnt even go to the next hop. However, the subnet is definitely in the routing table with the correct next hop (and, for complete information, is also within the BGP updates). Before anyone asks the question :) - yes I have definitely verified that the hosts are within this subnet.
    If I put a static /32 route in for this specific IP address, everything works fine - then fails again once its taken out.
    I literally cannot understand why the router is not correctly performing the lookup for the hosts within this subnet. I can understand a lot of potential reasons why the BGP received route wouldnt be placed in the routing table, but that is not the case here. 
    Some other factors (if applicable):
    - Nothing showing in the logs
    - Plenty memory available (despite the high number of routes)
    - Plenty CPU resource available
    - No default route is ran
    I am going to restart the router and really expect this to resolve the issue (would log a TAC but this one is a bit time precious) - but it is frankly doing my head in and I assume I am missing something!
    Any help or guidance would be appreciated!

  • VRF Best Practice: LAN only VRF, Mgmt VRF, Global Routing table or VRF?

    I am setting up a routed LAN (not a WAN) environment on two 6500 switches (sup-720). My goal is to create 32 routed environments separated by logical firewalls (multi-context ASA's). So I want a “core” router in each environment, and don't want to buy 32 pairs of 6500's-sorry Cisco.
    Each of these environments are tied together by a core routing environment, running on the same pair of 6500's. No WAN MPLS is going on and I am trying to use VRF for each of the routed environments core router. The management functions of the 6500 shall run off the VRF Core router and ip range (the one that ties all the other VRF's together. Here is a simple diagram:

    ||

    ||
    VRF2
    So to go from VRF1 to VRF2, you traverse two firewalls and VRFCOR.
    Several questions related to this design:
    1) Am I nuts to use VRF's in this application?
    2) Is there a better choice than VRF's to do what I want?
    3) Should VRFCOR be the global routing table (IOW, not a VRF)? Or should be its own VRF? Another way to ask this is: Shall a router ever run entirely in VRF tables, or should there be at least one global table in use?
    4) Are there problems with any management protocols on a VRF, such as NTP, AAA, SNMP, LOGGING, TELNET? Or have all those been worked out?
    5) Any other suggestions?

  • ISCSI boot with Intel NICs added to windows 2008 r2 routing table causes non iscsi traffic to attempt default routes on iscsi networks

    I have a server with Intel 82576 Gigabit Dual Port Nics.  I have configured them to use iSCSI boot the primary looks to 10.0.0.1/24 and the secondary looks to 10.0.1.1/24.  The target is configured correctly.  Everything boots as expected.
     I have added the MPIO feature and configured MPIO for the iscsi initiator as per: http://blogs.technet.com/b/migreene/archive/2009/08/29/3277914.aspx.
     My issue is that the iSCSI networks show up in the routing table like so:
    I did not configure a default route in the Intel setup utility:
    I tried to explicitly remove the 0.0.0.0 entry and leave blank, with no change.  As you can see with the above routing table traffic attempts to travel over these routes:

    A ping to the outside world first attempts on 10.0.0.x/24 network, then on 10.0.1.x/24 network and then finally on the network the traffic should go over.  I don't want my iSCSI traffic to ever show up with a default route.  How do I get rid of it?

    route delete 0.0.0.0 deletes all default routes, then I have to add back in the "valid default route" of 192.168.100.6.
    I would like to not have to do a route delete though.

    So I've sort of given up on fixing the gateway assignment in the route for iSCSI boot.  I configured a DHCP server to give out the information required by iSCSI boot and configured the network cards to use DHCP for their configuration.  I insured
    that my DHCP server gave out no default gateway entry.  However, I still got the undesired routes in the routing table.  This makes me assume that there isn't a "fix" for it, only the workaround.
    Here is the script I run on each iSCSI Boot initiator (you would obviously change the ip number to suit your environment):

    Then I added a task in “task scheduler” of "administrative tools"  that ran as the user “system” “when the computer starts” that runs this script.

  • Full internet routing in an internet MPLS VPN

    Is it possible and advisable to run the full internet routing table in a seperate MPLS VRF. A default route is not an option

    It is not advisable to have full Internet Routing table in a vrf.It is possible that you may run out of memory since different routers have different vrf routes holding capacity.e.g if you are using 12000 series and you have only one vrf configured then you can hold the entire Internet routing table in one vrf.
    Which router you have ? Is it 12000 ?How many vrfs you have ? How many routes have you per vrf ?
    You need to consider the above questions before making the decision.

  • Im having trouble getting my wifi, it connects to the router but isnt getting internet.  My room mates and I can connect our iphones and other devices just fine, help would be appriciated

    You will find the AirPort icon (looks like this ) on the OS X menu bar. Option (or right) click the icon, and you should be greeted with a drop-down menu. All of the parameters I mentioned should now appear after the name of your Wi-Fi network.
    The meaning of each of the values are as follows:
    PHY Mode = The radio mode that your Mac Pro is connecting with.
    Channel = The radio channel the Mac Pro is connected to.
    RSSI = Received Signal Strength Indication. It's an indication of the power level of the signal as preceived by the Mac Pro's internal Wi-Fi antenna. Typically the higher the RSSI number the stronger the signal. RSSI is measured in arbitrary units. Some manufacterers use a positive scale, others like Apple, use a negative (0 to -100) instead. For the AirPorts, the less negative the better.
    Transmit Rate = Instantaneous maximum date transfer rate of the connection in Mbps (Megabits per second)
    MCX Index = Modulation and Coding Scheme. The MCS value identifies a number of things, including the number of spatial streams used in the Wi-Fi connection between the Mac Pro and the AirPort router. A larger or smaller MCS value is meaningless. Instead, it defines the actual connection type. In turn, the type can play a significantly on the potential bandwidth performance.
