Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

If not successful, try the remainder of:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You might have to place it in Recovery Mode while connected to iTunes. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

  • IPod touch won't sync or acknowledge connection

Hi -- this seems to be a somewhat common problem but nothing I've tried has worked. My iPod touch 3rd Gen won't show up in iTunes or charge when I connect via USB; actually, it claims it isn't charging but I've noticed if I leave it attached to my MacBook Pro overnight it does actually charge very slowly... although the battery still doesn't show a full charge, but it's closer than before.
I've tried two different MacBook Pros, different USB ports, and several different USB cables. Occasionally it acknowledges the connection very briefly, then appears to be disconnected again.
I've reset the iPod several times but that doesn't make a difference.
I can't restore the iPod because it won't show up in iTunes. I tried to force a restore by holding in the Home button while connecting via USB. But it doesn't matter how long I hold the Home button -- eventually it just asks for my password. It never shows the restore/connect screen.
The pin connection looks OK, but all I can figure is that there is some hardware connection problem with the pins. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
    Thanks.

Thanks, I figured that was my next move -- actually, I'm living in a country without real Apple stores or Genius Bars, but I can take it to an authorized Apple service center. I'll report back if they figure it out. But if anyone has any other suggestions to try I'm all ears.

  • I'm updating my iPod Touch 5th Gen and it says "Connect to iTunes" and I have, but nothing happens.

Okay, so, I unlocked my iPod and it said an update was available, so I tapped install. It wasn't connected to a power source, and I didn't think it'd make any difference if I was or not. So, I tapped it, blah, blah, blah, and then it said to connect to iTunes. So, I did, but my laptop didn't make the noise it usually does when I plug in the USB cable, so I tried it over and over again, but still the same result. I've updated iTunes to the newest version, and nothing happened still. So I decided to just cancel the update. But, now, "Connect to iTunes" will not go away from my screen no matter what I try. I've tried looking for solutions online, but none help. So, if someone could PLEASE help me fix this.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • My daughter's iPod touch is disabled and I cannot connect to iTunes

My daughter's iPod went crazy the other day making noises (she was no where around) and when I found it the message said that the iPod was Disabled and that it should be connected to iTunes.I tried this and it said that it might need an upgrade and possibly to be restored. I clicked ok but it only got so far through the software upload before it returned to Disabled. I did a little searching and tried the connect while holding the home button thinking this would work but alas - no joy! I've repeated this and gone in circles looking at discussions and now discovered that I cannot even turn off the iPod (with the slider) I held done the home button and on/off, restarted and then... you guessed it, disabled. Any help?

Have you tried following the recovery mode instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 and summarized as:

  • My daughter's ipod touch is disabled and says to connect to itunes becasue she forgot her password. she hasnt synced in  a long time so I cant even go onto itunes (it does not recognize the device) how do I reset her password?

we have had to reset our computer so any info on there is also erased. my daughter is in tears and I am frustrated. I have tried the basic technical support of resetting (holding the power button and the home key for 10 seconds, etc) nothing is working and we can not connect to itunes.

Here are Apple's instructions for placing the iPod in recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
You will have to restore to factory defaults/new iPod since yu do not have a backup. Yu can redownload some iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • 3rd generation ipod touch is locked and says to connect to itunes.  It will not connect to itunes because it is locked.  What do I do?

My son has a 3rd generation ipod touch.  He couldn't remember the passcode and locked it up.  It is saying that you have to connect it to Itunes to unlock it.  However, when I hook it up to Itunes, it says that you have to unlock it first.  I need help in getting it unlocked!  Someone please help me???

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it.  If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.
iOS: Unable to update or restore
If recovery mode doesn't work, try DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode instead using the instructions in this article.
