TS4036 I need to restore my iphone 5. Yesterday there was an icloud backup dated 4/1/14. Today I only see a backup with the lost data from 4/4/14. Itunes will not recognize my device, yet it is charging and importing pictures. Any suggestions?
Yesterday my autistic daughter was using my phone, as she often does. Some things got deleted. I went to do a restore and it showed the last backup was 4/1/14. My phone auto synced at 10:51 AM on 4/3/14. I had to leave, and when I came back itunes no longer recognized my phone. Its charging, it can import pictures, but nothing on itunes works. I wanted to do a restore, but now I only see the 10:51 backup, which is after selected items were deleted.
My questions: How can I make Itunes recognize my iphone (running windows 8) How can I find the backup from 4/1/14, as it has the most current information?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 13 inch MBP. I had to log out. It would not let me restart or shut down unless iTunes was closed. And, iTunes was not responding to the FORCE QUIT option. It would quit, then reappear. Hope this helps.

I got my iPhone 4 wet and it shut down and I am tryiny to restore it but iTunes on my iMac mid 2010 does not recognize my device. Help....It is charging and tells me to restore it using iTunes. I do not know if it is a CDMA or GSM. It tells me i cannot make calls with it till it is restored.
Try to put it in DFU Mode and see if it'll detect it that way:
-Plug your phone into the computer and open iTunes
-Hold down Power for 3 sec.
-Continue holding Power and press/hold down Home for 10 sec.
-Release Power and continue holding Home for another 8-10 sec.
ITunes will detect your phone is in DFU Mode and ask you to restore.
***FYI, In DFU Mode, your screen will be black. It is not the same as the Restore Image (iTunes w/ plug).

So you connect the iPod containing a hard drive. I would guess you are using USB, right? Then Windows opens a window (wow, that's repetative) that identifies this as a USB hard drive.
Am I close?
It sounds like you've told the iPod to act in Disk Mode. On the same preferences pane that you are telling iTunes to open, uncheck the box for enable disk mode. the mini should stop telling your computer it is a hard drive. -
Just downloaded 7.2 into my Iphone 5 what a mess. Dropped called no audible notifications for email or text messages. Went to the apple store and reset phone to original specs. I've done all of these, even trying a different USB port, and still, nothing. This is really confusing. Windows 8.1 said something to do with USB malfunction or something and nothing works. I need to restore my iPhone quickly and nothing has happened. My cable is not genuine Apple product. iTunes makes the noise that it makes when I connect the device, but it doesn't say 'iPhone is in recovery mode' or even say 'iPhone' in the corner. Whenever I update from Windows 7 get error 1602, iPod shows USB connection to iTunes, but iTunes will not recognize the device. None of the Apple documentation helps. The Apple Mobile Device driver is loaded and operating. The anti-virus software and firewall are not at fault (were uninstalled, and made no difference). The iTunes on my older machine running Vista does recognize the inoperative iPod (iTunes has detetced an iPod in recovery mode) and allows me to restore the device. Can anyone help to resolve this problem on the Windows 7 PC?
So yu tried all of this:
Error 1600, 1601, 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

Forgot the passcode to my ipad. When I went to restore it, it asked me if I wanted to update the software so I said yes. It then went into recovery mode, I'm guessing, with the connect to iTunes showing on the screen. Now iTunes will not recognize it so I have no idea how to get it back! Help!!

Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
