Tutorials/publications for Widget construction

Does anyone have any recommendations for tutorials or publications that focus on widget construction for Captivate 4?
I'd like to construct some simple widgets that manipulate and display Captivate frames, count the time a user is in a lesson, etc. Preferably I want to build a library of FLA files that I can periodically alter to suit my design needs.
If someone knows of any .fla source files that were constructed for Captivate 4, that would be helpful.

I don't know of any right now. I've thought of writing one, though my Widget chops are still pretty primitive. I learned what I know about it by parsing through the documentation for Tristan's Widget Factory API, and through trial and error, of course:

You can also parse through the FLA files for the widgets are are included with Captivate. But those are coded quite differently.

Is it possible for widgets in dashboard to float over other windows?

I'm trying to assess features in Mavericks in comparison to Snow Leopard (the OS I'm most familiar with). I usually read the Missing Manual for the new OSes, but haven't gotten to all areas yet - it's a big book!
Is it possible for widgets in dashboard to float over other windows?
I want to be able to see the calculator widget for example while I'm also working in a Bills template document in Word, or over my back account page while viewing in Safari. Or look at words in Thesaurus while viewing a document I'm writing in Word, or even an email in Mail. In OS 10.6 widgets on the dashboard float above the other windows, but I can see them both at the same time. It looks like Dashboard is all by itself in Mavericks. Is this the case and the only way to view widgets now, is by themselves in their own isolated environment? Any work around?

You can assign a "hot corner" with System preferences > Mission Control > Hot corners to bring up your dashboard anytime you want quickly by moving the mouse to the corner. Works really well.

Implementation of SAP Business One for a construction Company

Hello Everyone,
This is Anuradha, we are going to implement B1 for a construction company for the first time.The Client requirement is as follows: " There are four branches under a Head office, the Board of Directors who are at the HO should be able to access the consolidated reports of all the Branches(which hold the different construction projects)...How to configure this so that all the consolidated reports to be viewed by the HO at the end of the day ...

Anuradha,
You should look at the option of creating Segmented Accounts. Segmentation facilitates defining branches and without any additional effort, the Directors of the copy would be able to run any Accounting / Financial Report which would show the consolidated results.
Unless, you are planning to setup 4 different company database for each branch where the scenario is much different and will require consolidation.

Hi.
I would know if there is publication similar to Customer & Prospects (by Employee), but i'd like by salesrep.
I see replication object CAPGEN_OBJ_WRITE, and table smokvbez6 (Interlinkage Cust Cust. AND -Cust - Cont.Pers.). But i don't know if exist and publication for this, o i have to create a new.

Hi,
segment field SFAKNA2 is already defined as potential criteria field as you might see when checking the replication object CAPGEN_OBJ_WRITE. It is used for the interlinkage CAP-CON (partners are following the BP).
You might add another criteria field (SFAKNA2 with type D instead of I) to this replication object but I would suggest to use the fields RELTYP and PARTNER2 because then this would be a little bit more generic and especially you won't need to retrieve the SFA guids for all of your sales reps from the database but can use the partner numbers.

HT2492 unable to swipe for widgets

My Mac's function of swiping left for widgets has stopped working. I have check & make sure "Show Dashboard as a space" is checked in Mission Control preferences...help!!!

The control and left/right arrow keys will move you to the various desktops. I didn't see a way to configue the trackpad to swipe between desktops in System Preferences.

I have Verizon FiOS service for phone, internet and TV but I only have one TV hooked up for it for just basic cable service with no DVR and no need for widgets. Can I use an Airport Extreme as my router and not use the FiOs router?

I want to use an Airport Extreme as my router. I currently have a Verizon FiOS router. I have Verizon for phone, internet and TV. However, TV-wise, I just have a basic service for one TV with just a regular box. No HD, no DVR. Don't need access to a menu, widgets, on-demand. Can I eliminate the FiOS Router and just use the Airport Extreme and still have phone and internet?

I know that it will increase my wireless coverage in my house but will it increase the speeds?
Not sure what you are asking here. The AirPort Extreme is only going to be as fast as the Internet connection that it receives.....which is 75/75. It cannot take a 75/75 connection and make it go any faster.
If you locate the AirPort Extreme in an area where you need more wireless signal coverage, the AirPort Extreme would deliver 75/75 in that area. But, keep in mind that the AirPort Extreme must connect to the FIOS router using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection.
If you are asking if the AirPort Extreme can wirelessly connect to the FIOS modem router, and extend the FIOS wireless network, the AirPort Extreme would not be compatible with a FIOS product for that purpose.

1) What file formats are typically found within these compressed containers? For example, html, xml, txt, pdf, MS Office, etc.
2) Do these compressed containers ever have other embedded compressed containers within them? For example, a zip file containing other zip files within it.
3) If the intention is to process document files, do any of the document files have other document formats embedded/nested within them? For example, a MS Word document with a spreadsheet embedded within it.

Animation in Indesign CS6 export as a HTML for widget in iBA?

For me it`s the first question. I would like to animate pictures in iBooks Author. So I know about the tool hype. But I would like to use Indesign CS6 to create Animation files. I create a simple animation in CS6, export as a swf-file. Now I receive example.swf and example.html. Create a new folder with Default.png, Info.plist and example.html. The .swf file is in a folder named SWF. Next I create the folder a .wdgt. Import in iBooks I read the main html-file is missing.
Is my way possible: CS6 animation as a widget in iBooks Author? Or is it better to use other tools in the world of Apple like hype for example?

"iOS doesn't support swf as this is the exported verison of a Flash file. Putting the swf file into a widget won't change that fact.
As sb0117 mentions, your best bet is to look at HTML5 animation."
I wouldn't use Hype to create your assets as it's really quite limited in that respect, but create the assets in Photoshop and import into HYPE to create animation.
I'd also do a couple of test files to check how the resulting animations look, full-screen on the iPad.
Alternatively, if you're more familiar with Pages, etc, you could use Keynote as the learning curve might be easier.

Spry Accordion and jQuery UI Accordion for Widget Browser

I have Dreamweaver CS5 and used the spry accordion for a left menu. I then used the widget browser and added jQuery UI accordion. But there appears to be a conflict in that the spry accordion is not displaying the white font on hover, instead using the gray font from the jQuery UI accordion.
This may be a duplicate post, I asked this question on another section of this site, if so, I do apologize. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Waiting for a constructed image

I am having great difficulty with an image constructed from others. Essentially, I create an empty image and fill it with a series of drawImage() commands on the graphics context. However, I simply cannot get execution to wait for the image to be finished before it's displayed.
There are a couple of places where I may need to wait- when the images are first loaded (they are stored so only one disk access is needed for each image) and when the images are scaled before drawing them to the main image.
However, despite packing my code to the gills with MediaTrackers, nothing seems to force it to wait. I've been using:

Publication for Deski report with multiple data providers

Hi,
Has anyone been able to get a publication working that uses a Deski report with multiple data providers as the source? I'm trying to get a publication working that uses dynamic recipients and personalization. When I try to schedule the publication, I get the error "Object not found".

That's standard.
It's useful for emulating outer joins in reports.
Say you've got a sales report where you want to display all 12 months of the year in a crosstab whatever month you run in.
We're only in May at the moment though. With one data provider (SALES), you'll get a crosstab with just up to May for your months.
If you create a separate data provider called MONTHS to return the months in the current year, you will then have a merged dimension of YearMonth in both.
In your crosstab if you just use YearMonth you'll get just the five months. If you qualify it with its data provider name (in our case MONTHS), you'll see the full twelve months shown.
