TV Message Center Wont turn off!!!

The most useless and frustrating app in the entire thinkvantage package has got to be the Message Center.
With the latest updated version, it seems to have developed a mind of it's own. Removed from the startup menus for all users, and the preferences set to NOT run on startup, it STILL runs on startup, and the preferences window is RESET to default.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? The obvious solution is to simply delete it...

My phone didnt want to sync, I was getting a message that Itunes was unable to sync data, so restarted the computer and I got same massage. Then I tried to to restart the phone but it has been 15minutes and still wont turn off. Please help!!!!!

Just had this similiar issue with my iPod. Simple steps found through the Apple Support Website. Follow this link:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320, or follow instructions listed below to reset a frozen iPod nano/classic/color display/click-wheel, etc.:
1) Toggle the Hold switch on and then off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again)
2) Press and hold the Menu and center buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. This step may need to be repeated. (*sidenote...I also found that the iPod would not respond/reset when it was connected to my computer. It just continued to state that it was connected and needed to be ejected before disconnecting. I pulled the link cable out of the frozen iPod and followed the above steps and it reset normally.)

Satellite L555-10N display wont turn off after 10min on non-usage

Hi,
I've recently acquired a Satellite L555-10N notebook, which until now turned out to be a good choice.
I have a little problem, though:
In my Energy preferences, I set the time at which the display should turn off to 10 minutes, if the notebook is not in use.
Although this worked fine for the last days and weeks, the display now won't shut down at all.
I have not made any changes to drivers or BIOS or whatsoever.
I remember changing some preferences at the ecoUtility-Setup to enable it.
At that point, I got a message that some preferences would have to be changed in order to enable the feature and I agreed.
I could not notice any changes that were made, but from that point on, the display wont turn off any more.
I would very much appreciate your help!

Which OS you are using?
For Vista and Windows 7 I have founded a good article about the settings in Windows Power Management:

Furthermore you can change the settings for every profile. That means you have to choose the Turn off the display function for this power profile that you use or every profile if I use all of them.

It wont turn off!!!

I have a 30gb iPod video, it was working perfectly yesterday,but later that night it wouldn't turn off. I tried holding play down for a very long time and it wont work. I reset the settings and it still wont turn off. My friend was using it last, I was around when he was using it the most that happend was it fell on the floor about a foot but it was ok it didn't stop playing or anything I dropped it on a weight back in July and it worked perfectly until last night. Please Help!

In addition, here's a couple of other possibilities:
--Try toggling your hold switch on/off. The "hold" switch is located on the top of your iPod. Switch back and forth, on and off several times. After that (be sure that your hold switch is OFF [grey-colored]), try turning off your iPod.
--Also, your iPod's actual play/pause button may be faulty in some way. Try entering Diagnostic Mode:
1 - Reset your iPod; hold the "Menu" and center buttons together for 5 seconds.
2 - Right after those five seconds (when your iPod's screen goes dim), let off the buttons, and immediately begin to press and hold the center and "<<" buttons for a few seconds. A digital-sounding chirp will indicte that you're in Diagnostic Mode.
(If you're unable to enter this mode, it may take a few attempts at coordination to make it work).
Once in DM, use your iPod's "<<" and ">>" buttons to navigate through the tests. click the ">>" button a few times, to select the test called: "KeyTest".
Run this test, clicking the specific buttons when it tells you.
If your "play/pause" button works or not, post back what happened with this KeyTest.
If the button works fine, then we've cleared the physical-button-damage possibility.
If it doesn't work, then you may want to carefuly take apart the iPod to inspect it yourself, or send it in to Apple.
Again, post back what happens.

It just wont turn off!

Basically my Ipod is less then a year old. Its run fine up until now. Its had the usual bugs freezing every once in a while but on the whole its worked.
However, since the other day it will not turn off! I pushed down the play button on the click wheel held it and nothing! I checked that the hold button wasnt on then did it again, still nothing so I reset it...still it wont turn off. I clicked the sleep button, no responce. I let the battery run dry then charged it again nothing so I repeated the process then plugged it into the computer and still it will not turn off!
I'm at my witts end. I don't want to restore the thing but I fear I may have to. Can anyone help me?

Rob. I had this happen and it drove me nuts. Try this. Turn the "hold" button on top of your IPOD to "hold". Then turn the hold button back on. HOLD DOWN the "menu" button and the "ON" button, (that's the center of the wheel) at the same time and in a few seconds the Apple logo should come on the screen. That resets the entire IPOD but it won't lose your songs or anything.

Just share with you guys, i having the same issue on iPhone 5. Using the iTunes to turn off the VoiceOver had fixed the issue for me.

Ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont turn off

my ipod shuffle wont turn off! it is 2nd gen i think it is silver with clip on on the back. when i pause it it will pause but when i turn switch to off green light still flashing and will still play if press play button any ideas? or do i buy another one . it is about 9 months old.

thanks for your reply. in the end i took it to an apple service centre and coz it only 8months old got it replaced for free in two days, seeing as im in darwin i was quite impressed!!. i agree it is made cheap but i use it for the gym and no other portable music player is equipped with the clip on the back which is the most simple design feature and no-one is catching on. have seen the new one , which looks brilliant, if my replacement craps itself after its 1 year warranty then i will just get the new one. thanks again for the reply.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
-When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use this program instead of the buttons.
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Have exactly the same problem with my wife's MacBook Air. After restaring in Restore mode and trying to repair the disk (Disk Utility showed errors in the verification), the system tells me to backup as much data as possible (how?), re-format the disk and restore backed-up files. Error comes up when "updating boot support partitions for the volume as required".
Original restart action was done due to software update requesting it, if I remember correctly, iTunes was updated.
I don't want to start a painful back-up procedure (although I do regular back-ups): how should I know, where iPhoto stores it's data or where my mails are (yes, still using local mail)? How can I access the data if I can't boot?
My iMac's disk crashed also a couple of months ago and I'm still recovering. I have four Apple devices, two of them have failed. Can Apple afford such a ratio?

Took my iPad to the Apple store today and they were able to unfreeze it with a simple forced reset. This is done by pressing the Off button at the same time as you press the button on the front and hold for about 20 seconds. The new software had successfully installed and the iPad had frozen when it was starting up again after install. Not sure why this simple process can't be part of a FAQ page on the Apple site.
