I have an Apple Ipad Air. I'm trying to use two bluetooth earphones at one time. Only one works at a time.  Can two be used at the same time?  If so how do I get them to work?

The likely reason no one can connect to the mini when it is connected to your work VPN has more to do with your work than your home set up. The administrator at work would have to decide to allow for "split-tunneling", thereby allowing your mac to be connected to work and the outside world simultaneously.

  • Two Bluetooth Adapters on Mac Mini

Is it possible to use two bluetooth adapters with the Mac Mini?
If not, is it possible to disable the internal adapter and use an external USB bluetooth adapter?
If you're curious, here is what I'm trying to set up.
upstairs: Mac Mini with keyboard, mouse, monitor, a dual SATA dock and one end of a USB over cat 5e system
cables running downstairs: VGA, speaker wire, cat 5e
downstairs: VGA projector, amp & speakers, USB dock, USB bluetooth adapter, bluetooth controls (probably the ProMini wireless keyboard with trackpad)

It is possible to use multiple Bluetooth adapters on a single Mac. I have a d-Link USB Bluetooth adapter on my Mini.
If not, is it possible to disable the internal adapter and use an external USB bluetooth adapter?
I don't know if it's possible to disable the internal Bluetooth, but why bother? Bluetooth has a range of 33ft, so anything downstairs is likely out of range of the Mini's internal Bluetooth, and the materials in the building is further reducing the signal strength of Bluetooth. 33ft is an optimistic number and I've found that I often have trouble going to the next room, depending on the device.

Otherwise, since you already have USB heading downstairs, then a USB keyboard and mouse would obviously work. Or a wireless keyboard/mouse, but non-Bluetooth. (i.e.: a wireless keyboard/mouse that comes with it's own USB dongle.)

  • Bluetooth dongle conflicts with internal BT ??

    Hi all,
First question here, and seems not to be an easy one...
I use an iMac (2.8 GHz, intel i5) with OS 10.6.7.
To read out bluetooth data from solar panels I run a program called Sunny Explorer.
As this program runs on Windows only I installed Parallels with Win XP. Program
    runs fine.
As the bluetooth data cannot be read by the internal bluetooth device I use a
bluetooth dongle (stick). Here comes the problem; when I use it my mouse and keyboards
drop out. After re-connecting a few times I mostly get them back, but when I close
down or start the iMac again mouse and keyboard drop dead again. Seems to be some kind of
conflict in between internal BT an d dongle????
Does anyone has a solution for this?
    thanks,
    Gert Ouderits
    Belgium.

Some thoughts: both BT radios would be transmitting on the same 2.4GHz frequency, so could be interfering with each other.  And you have the two BT radios relatively close to each other.  Perhaps use a USB extension cable to move the external BT dongle farther away from your mouse & keyboard.  And closer to your solar panel data device.  I think that most BT radio "crank up the power" in weak signal conditions so if the solar device is far away, then the BT dongle may occasionally be "louder" than the iMac's BT radio.  Thus the idea of moving the BT dongle away from the iMac and closer to the solar.
I do something simiar to you with a Mac Mini and a BT dongle on the USB port of my monitor.  I used to have the dongle plugged directly into the Mini, but after a bunch of troubleshooting I moved the dongle to the monitor.  This appears to put the BT dongle far enough away from the Mini to not cause interference.
...but when I close down or start the iMac again mouse and keyboard drop dead again...
The other possibility I'm thinking of is that the mouse and keyboard are trying to connect to the BT dongle instead of the internal BT radio.  This could be more likely if the dongle is Class 1, which has a stronger radio.  BT has a range of 10 meters for Class 2, which is what is in the iMac, and 100 meters for Class 1.  You won't find a 100 meter USB extension cable, but hopefully moving the dongle just a few meters will work.
Otherwise, USB mouse and keyboard will obviously not have Bluetooth issues.

  • How can I tell whether my Mac Pro is using the bluetooth dongle or not?

I got myself a bluetooth dongle to get around the terrible internal BT signal. When it's in use, it alleviates all my troubles and I can actually stroll halfway down the hall and still type accurately.
However, it seems that every time I reboot, it must stop using the dongle and use the internal, because I then get the terrible signal of the internal antenna. The only way to convince my computer to use the dongle, is to unplug and plug it back in. Then I have to delete all my bluetooth devices and pair them again!
So yes, I am seeking a two-part solution.
Firstly, I'd like to know if there's anywhere in System Profiler, BT Preferences, Terminal, etc that will just inform me of WHICH bluetooth my computer is using.
Secondly, I'd ideally want to set it to default to the dongle. If this isn't possible, at least the first part would let me know when I need to arduously re-do my settings.
Thank you very, very much. Usually this isn't that big an issue, as I only rarely need to move my peripherals off my desk, but I got a Magic Mouse earlier this week and its extremely clear it doesn't have as strong an antenna or whatever as the Mighty Mouse, and it starts going erratic if I move it so much as a foot from the Mac Pro tower.

I have the same problem and I cannot find any way to turn off the internal bluetooth without killing all bluetooth including the dongle. If someone has a way to turn off the internal bluetooth I want to see it.
    Thanks

  • Problem with Usb Bluetooth dongle (Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd.) on 10.5.8

    Hello,
I tried until two day to configure a usb bluetooth dongle than I buy on ebay. This dongle work on my macbook osx 10.6 in System Profiler than y see this and tried many times to modifed the IOBluetoothfamily.kext
    Can you help me?
    Bluetooth HCI:
    Product ID: 0x0001
Vendor ID: 0x0a12 (Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd.)
    Version: 19.15
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Location ID: 0x4b430000
    Current Available (mA): 100
Current Required (mA): Unknown (Device has not been configured)

No configuration or modification of system files is required. If the USB Bluetooth dongle is Mac compatible, just plug it in and open the Bluetooth system preferences pane.
Not all USB Bluetooth dongles are fully Mac compatible.

  • Using two bluetooth adapters (not devices) together in OSX?

I was wondering if its possible to allow OSX to use two bluetooth adapters at the same time? In windows, when you plug in two adapters, it places two bluetooth icons in the system tray. It seems when I try this with OSX, the main adapter is used, and the secondary adapter gets listed as a keyboard im guessing, as a window pops up saying it doesnt recognise my keyboard (even though i own no bluetooth keyboards), and it shows up with an improper mac address with the main bluetooth adapter, but not as its own. Is there any way to make OSX notice the second adapter?
EDIT: I guess I should specify my reasoning for this. on windows, because of the way bluetooth works, ps3 controllers need to isolate the bluetooth adapter, rendering a bluetooth adapter solely for the ps3 controller. obviously this works in osx without isolation, but I noticed that since the ps3 controller pairs by mac address, using the same adapter results in only having to pair the controller to osx and windows once, rather than having to pair each time i switched between systems. Also, I would still like to use the second adapter as its own for pairing other devices.

    Hi,
Thank for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum.
Based on my research, two Bluetooth adaptors can work at same time.
In your case, the major problem is the dongle can’t start. I suggest you could test if the new Bluetooth adapter could work in another computer?
Meanwhile, the Code 10 error pertains mainly to hardware and device driver issues or to compatibility issues between hardware drivers and additional software
that is installed in Windows. Therefore, we recommend that you troubleshoot these issues by focusing on device drivers, on device configuration issues, and on hardware compatibility issues.
I recommend you could refer to:
Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers
    Hope it helps.

  • MSI Bluetooth Dongle Chipsets?

Hi, I'm looking for a bluetooth dongle which works with skype on my bluetooth headset.
I went through a bunch of cheap ones (ISSC based), and now I'm consdering one from MSI (Btoes 2.0). Can anyone tell me what chipset is in this device? I have had good experience with CSR chipsets, but I can't tell what's inside the Btoes 2.0. The older Btoes appears to have a CSR chipset.
Also, if anyone has experience using either the starkey or the btoes with a Nokia BH-200 successfully I'd appreciate the feedback.
    Thanks!

I have the Motorola v80 which has 5megabyte memory.
So the memory front is not the problem.
edit: I read something about getting some security code or anything like that. I have not been asked to register/type in any code/serial of any kind, not during the installation nor durning sessions when using the dongle. I just find this very odd not working. Isnt there any support I could call for this matter. Im located in Sweden, couldnt find any support or telephone number to MSI in Sweden.
I've just bought a product that doesnt work. Thats not fair

  • Two Mini Mac and One Monitor

    Hey everyone,
Whats the best one to do? I have two mini mac and one monitor with a WIRELESS (Bluetooth) keyboard and mouse...
    Should I get a KVM or Network,etc?
Or what is the best advice for me to get?
Im using one Mini Mac for work just as Photoshop and Lightroom ONLY,
Other mini mac for play around, download, internet search, etc
both 10.4.11 BUT will get Snow Leopard soon...
    1.66 Ghz Inter Core Duo
    and
cant remember the other Ghz as its shut down at the moment but higher then 1.66Ghz, Inter Core Duo
    Johnny

...with a WIRELESS (Bluetooth) keyboard and mouse...
Do you have a separate keyboard & mouse for the other Mac? Bluetooth keyboards and mice normally can only be paired to one device and since the Bluetooth receiver is built-in to the Macs, you normally can't attach your Bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse to a KVM. (If you have a non-Bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse with it's own dedicated receiver, then it's possible to use that with a USB KVM. But those are mostly PC keyboards/mice so most Mac people don't have such.)
So that basically eliminates KVM as a sharing device for you. Leaving just something like screen sharing to remote control one of the Macs. You probably will not like the way Photoshop and Lightroom work over screen sharing, so remote control just the "internet only" Mac, not the Photoshop Mac.

  • Bluetooth Dongle Stopped Working - Now Keyboard Won't Pair With New Dongles

    Hi All,
If anyone can shed some light on this I would be massively grateful.
I've been using an old dlink usb bluetooth adapter with my 2007 8 core Mac Pro running OS X 10.6.2. This had been working with my old style bluetooth mac keyboard (the white one with the number panel).
Recently the dongle stopped working (the lights went out and it wouldn't come back to life). I've bought 2 new dongles (HK-760 USB 2.0 & Belkin Mini Bluetooth Adapter) and neither of these seem to connect to the keyboard in Bluetooth Setup Assistant. I get this message: 'The pairing attempt was unsuccesful. This configuraton of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported.'
I took the keyboard to the Mac Store and it connected to an iMac there, so figure it's not the keyboard.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Update: I tried to link the keyboard to my old G3 which it used to work with no problems an it took ages to link up and then on restart wouldn't link up. I'm thinking it might be a faulty old keyboard that died of a broken heart when the bluetooth dongle passed away. Poor thing

  • What kind of bluetooth dongle(usb) should I get to use my Magic Mouse properly?

My Mac Pro doesn't have bluetooth. What kind of bluetooth dongle(usb) should I get to use my Magic Mouse properly? I already have one, but it makes the mouse seriously lacking.

I keep the dongle plugged into the back of my apple 27" monitor so that means it is only 1 to 2 feet away from the mouse.  Don't plug it into the mac pro itself if that is at any distance from the mouse.  The closer you can keep the dongle to the mouse the better.
Do a smc and pram reset.
If all is lost, and you have xcode installed then you can do a bluetooth factory reset.
Note that if you should sleep your machine, power is off the usb's, so the dongle is off.  This means you cannot wake the machine with any BT devices like the mouse (I use a wired keyboard).  Also sometimes upon waking the machine the mouse does not immediately re-pair (maybe 20% of the time).  So you have to flip its switch to get the system's attention.
While I do have internal BT, using the dongle disables the internal (at least for 2010 mac pro's).
And of course BT would go inactive if you pulled the dongle out!

  • Bluetooth dongle license that needs the device address

    PLEASE HELP ME
I have just bought the MSI BToes Bluetooth Dongle and when i tried to install it, it kept saying that the device cannot be found, i downloaded the latest driver and software and that installed it fine. But it asked for the serial number on the dongle but i do not have one. I went to the WIDCOMM website and it asked for the device address, but i cannot gather mine because the software that i need is not installed because it needs the serial number, and the serial number needs the device address
Can you please help me get out of the never ending circle, PLEASE

  • Two Bluetooth Serial Ports - lots of RFCOMM errors

Ok... So I'm sure I'm a unique case here, but I'll throw it out anyway, just in case anyone else might be experiencing the same problem, or might know of a fix...
I'm trying to use two Bluetooth serial ports, a Bluetooth GPS and a ham radio TNC (think of it as an RF modem), simultaneously. I was able to do it twice, so I know it can work, but in getting to those two times, I encountered numerous RFCOMM errors mentioning authentication, other failed or hung up connection attempts (The Powerbook seemed to connect to the device, but no data flowed to the application), and even a few "You need to restart your computer. Hold the power button down for a few seconds..." (I guess you could call it the black screen error?) screens. Many times, I could get one device to connect and pass data, but the second one would cause errors. Sometimes I couldn't even get one device to connect.
The devices I'm connecting to are a Pharos iGPS-BT and a Socket Cordless Serial Adapter. The GPS comm settings are 4800-7-E-1 and the serial adapter is at 9600-8-N-1.
Like I said, I actually accomplished it twice, so I know it can be done, but it seems to be a LOT harder getting there than it really should be. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Well, it seems like I've figured it out. I deleted the pairings (and thus the related serial ports), re-paired (probably not necessary; I probably could've just deleted the serial ports and re-added them), and I haven't had problems since.
It seems that the problems were related to the fact that I renamed the ports to considerably shorter names (i.e. bt-gps instead of PharosiGPS-BT-GPSRFcom-1). I've left both ports with their original names and have had no problems since.

  • Two Bluetooth Headsets?

Is there any way to connect two Bluetooth headsets to a single iphone 3GS so that they can be used in an intercom format. As in with helmets on or sitting 20 ft away both people can talk to each other via the headsets just using the one iphone as a wireless (bluetooth) connector/intercom/base? Any such apps? I can't find any way to do it.

That's the trick, I don't want to have to keep one off. I want to be able to decide when the phone rings which headset to answer.
