Two-step authentication too small

Apple, would you please make two-step authentication larger on the iPhone screen?

  • Do any of the location and two-step authentication services work without IPOD WiFi?

    IPOD Touch 4g, IOS 6.01
I signed up for two-step authentication but I now realize that all the necessary location services only work through WiFi.
I don't use WiFi at home and only connect my IPOD directly to the PC whenever I want to use Itunes or manage it.
Is there any process to setup location services and two-step authenticate through a PC internet connection?
    Thanks

I think you are going to find the WiFi saps that good life right out of it -- it will also run hotter with WiFi on.
I did some informal testing on this myself... the best battery life I get is with WiFi turned off and only turned back on when needed to surf the net. I use EDGE for e-mail.
Today was my first "real use" day... It charged last night and was fully charged this morning. I texted quite a bit. I sent a bunch of e-mails. I called my husband via bluetooth. My daughter called several times to check in. I called a few work contacts for brief convos. I browsed the internet for about 15 minutes. Made an appointment in the calendar. Showed google maps, weather, stocks, and safari to a friend (using EDGE). Now tonight, safely back at home, I still have about 70% battery remaining.
Any day I had WiFi on all day I barely got through 12 hours before it needed to be charged. Last night when I was intentionally running my battery down I turned on WiFi. Starting with a battery charged about 50% I browsed with WiFi for 3-4 hours and the phone died.
I do keep bluetooth off too unless I'm in the car, but honestly, I think it's really the WiFi that is the biggest battery draw.

I just added Google's two step authentication and can't get Mail on my new IPad to recognize my gmail account.  Password is entered, but I don't see a way to insert code from Google

  • Apple ID two step authentication - SMS option not available to receive verification code

    Hi apple community,
First time poster, so be nice and let me know if this is the wrong forum
When signing on to my apple ID account, with two step authentication enabled, I am prompted to send a verification code to my device.
Now, my device was actually replaced under warranty so when attempting to send the verification code, I do not receive anything.
I have checked Find My Phone is enabled and working.
As I understand it now, the verification code is sent as a device message so if you replace your device, you have to re-register your new trusted device for apple ID two step authentication.
When signing in, I do not have the option to send a text message (i.e. an SMS) to my mobile number.
Has anyone experience this and resolved it? (and yes, Apple Support have tried to help me with no success)
    FB

Ditto.  For whatever reason, my cell cannot receive the SMS code from Apple. I'm located in Mexico - but I've done 2-step authentication in the past without problem.  Phone number triple-checked and accurate.
And of course, y iPad won't connect to our office WiFi for some reason (stupid D-link routers, apparently)....
A real pain when I can't log-in to my office iMac to access iCloud mail....

  • Does iMessage imperil two-step authentication?

It seems that the new iMessage service is a complete lack of security for anyone relying on their iPhone as part of a two-step authentication process.
I was just re-logging into some secure sites, such as Google, that require two-step authentication, and the authentication number pops up on the screen of the iMac or iPad I'm using, apparently destroying any value in having the information supplied separately to my iPhone.
I have had to turn off the whole iMessage service now so that my access to secure sites is not so easily breached. Apparently anyone with access to my computer or iPad easily bypasses the security process.
I don't understand how this update doesn't leave everyone who relies on two-step authentication with an iPhone using SMS messages with validation codes from being completely compromised.

  • Enforce two step authentication on IOS?

    Hello,
I would like to know if you can restrict access to Settings > iCloud on IOS by forcing two step authentication or by adding a pass code?
    Phill

I forgot to mention.. I would like to prevent my IOS device being removed from the iCloud without two level authentication or pass code. Is this possible?

  • Enable two step authentication?

How would I go about enabling two step authentication? I need to do this as I believe my account may have been compromised, I have already changed my password but I want extra security from this happening again.

You can unjoin your Skype account from your Microsoft account but that won't disable your Skype account.  Not having an account joined or TV/Phone account enabled is the only way to eliminate the single authentication of a Skype account from a Microsoft account.   You can abandon your old account and clear out personal info from a severed account but you can't add a second form of authentication to a legacy Skype account.

  • HT5570 Enabling two-step authentication broken? stuck in a loop

I'm trying to enable two-step authentication. I go to the My Apple ID webpage. Log in. Click on Security and Privacy. Answer my security questions. Click on "get started" under two-step authentication.
The first time I did this, I got a message saying that there was a 3-day waiting period in order to enable 2-step. Weird, but okay. I come back 3 days later, and now I log in, get started with two-step auth, and I immediately get looped back to the log-in screen with an error message that says "We're sorry, but your Apple ID account information can not be modified using the My Apple ID website."
umm, how else would I modify my Apple ID account if not through the "MY APPLE ID WEBSITE"?
Is anyone else encountering this? is it just a bug?
thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi Jennifer,
I just figured my problem out - and maybe it might relate to yours also. I had two email addresses linked to my Apple ID account. I could log into my Apple ID account using either of these two email addresses. The first time the 2 Step Verification failed I logged into my Apple ID using email #1. So I logged into "Manage My Apple ID"  using my email #2 and selected "Password and Security" then "2 Step Verification" and went through the whole process again (it didn't make me wait three days) and it worked!  It could be that the 2 Step Verification process has to be done using all the email addresses associated with your Apple ID. Of course if you only have one email address associated with your Apple ID.... then ignore all my posts :-)
    Regards,

  • Hello, How can i configure facebook chat if i have two-step authentication ?

I've been trying to configure fb chat in thunderbird. I'm unable to connect and connection error is shown in thunderbird. Meanwhile in facebook, a notification came as i tried to access from a unknown device. But there is no option to add that. Can you suggest me an option ?
    Thanks in advance,

I'd expect Facebook has instructions for how to do this.

  • Can't activate iPhone because Apple ID is locked 'for security reasons', can't reset Apple ID because need iPhone to receive two-step activate code!

    So here's an interesting one...
I have just updated iOS on my iPhone and it came up with the activation prompt. I entered my iCloud email and password and it told me that my account was disabled for security purposes.
This happens quite regularly as my iCloud account and I constantly get the account locked out as other people mistake it for their account.
The procedure to unlock my account is to visit iforgot.apple.com and select the 'Reset your password' option, enter my iCloud email address, two-step recovery key and then nominate my iPhone to receive a two-step authentication code.
The problem is my phone won't receive the authentication code because it needs activation! My iPad is also listed but also won't receive the authentication code, I expect because my Apple ID is disabled!
Having read the support article regarding what to do when you can't receive the two-step authentication code it says login to your apple id account and manage the list of devices! You what!? I can't login because my account is disabled.
It seems there is a complete design flaw here in that I can't activate my phone without unlocking my Apple ID and I can't unlock my Apple ID without activating my iPhone first!
I've spoken to Apple in the past about this and their response was to login and manage my devices and I pointed out that I could not login in because my account is disabled. They then basically said there is nothing I can do! Really? They won't unlock my Apple ID because they don't have the ability to do so.
If I'm not mistaken my iPhone is no longer fit for propose and if I can't sort this I will be visiting the Apple store and asking for a replacement as basically my device is bricked. I guess I will have to create a new Apple ID and will no longer be able to get to my email on the old account!?
Any folks on here has similar issues or any suggestions?
    <Email Edited by Host>

I have something similar going on, but not exact.  I basically have a useless phone here because I restored the phone but supposedly when my son's father redid the phone years ago for our son he added the phone to HIS apple id (on find my phoen supposedly) which he no longer has nor uses.  I need said apple id and pass to finish restoring the phone.  Maybe we should all get together and pile all our bricks in front of apple headquarters so no one can get out of the building and they have to stay there until they fix this.  :-P

  • ASA5510 - VPN AnyConnect - Two Part Authentication

Currently, we have the AnyConnect client authenticating our users to our AD environment.  All is working as desired.  Now our Controll Agency is requiring a two step authentication for VPN access.  Is it possible (and if so how do you do it) to also configure the AnyConnect client login to send a PIN to the AD usres registered Cell Phone and then require that PIN to be input to make complete the VPN login process?
This is basically the sequence that I forsee:
    1. The AnyConnect client requests and then validates the User's AD credentials
    2. The ASA 5510 generates and sends a one-time 4 to 6 digit PIN to the AD user's cell phone.
    3. The AnyConnect client presents a dialog box awaiting the PIN to be entered.
    4. The user enters the PIN and completes the login once the ASA validates the PIN.

    Hi,
    You can use secondary authentication:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/command/reference/s1.html#wp1452151
Do you have any external server/vendor for that PIN (one time password) authentication ?
How user in step 3 should know which PIN to type (if it's one-time generated) ?
With RSA one time password you could configure it as radius and use secondary authentication feature.
You could also use ACS as a proxy between ASA and RSA.

  • Unable to set up two-step verification in Nepal

Why apple did not include Nepal in their list of two-step verification available countries? All other does provide two-step verification but why not Apple?

I have an SMS-capable iPhone number, but I'm outside the US (in Costa Rica, Central America).
I had been able to receive international SMS messages with validation codes for WhatsApp, Viber and Wickr, but I'm not receiving the SMS validation code from Apple when I try to activate the two-step authentication on my AppleID, though the website says it's available in Costa Rica AND on my specific carrier as well.
I also checked with my carrier and they confirm there is no restriction on my service for receiving or sending SMS messages; I even have USA-roaming active!
I suspect it's an Apple issue, but how do I escalate it?

  • Where do I enter Apple ID two-step verification SMS code?

I'm trying to setup two-step authentication but cannot get past Step 1, sending the SMS code to my phone. I get the code on my phone but where do I enter it? The screen where I pressed the button to send it to my number does not change after the code is sent. It still shows the popup window with Add Phone Number, and my number I sent to is still shown, with Cancel and Next. If I press next again it says the phone is already verified. If I press Cancel then the whole process is aborted.
Also I do not see a list of verified devices at the start of this process, I already have my phone and other devices enabled for find my iphone and they all show in iCloud. I am only using one Apple ID.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm already using current Safari. But perhaps I will try in Firefox.
