UCS direct KVM access - CIMC ip address - DNS name

Hello community,
I have a little problem. We are using UCS 2.2(3d) and 32 B200 M3. Now I want to use KVM direct access.
For all 32 Blade Server, we have created DNS entries for their CIMC IP addresses.
example: ESXserver1.rc (servername + ".rc") <-- --> 192.168.0.1 (CIMC IP address)
If I enter the CIMC IP address in browser, KVM direct access works fine.
If I enter the DNS name in Browser, KVM direct access page loads, I log in and get the following error message:
GetKVMLaunchUrl: Invalid or zero CIMC IP Address passed
Can someone help me? Do I have to configure something?

User will get portal server access if it has portal desktop service. The only way to enable ip address conditions in Access Manager is using AM Policy Service, i. e. via policy agents.
If Portal server is installed in the same appserver domain than Access manager you won't be able to install a policy agent, that's a known issue.
If Portal server is installed in another appserver domain, perhaps you can use a policy agent, however, I'm not completely sure about it because Portal server needs AM SDK installed and Policy Agent also configure some AM clientSDK stuff... probably you will find some compatibility issues regarding such override of libraries.
Indeed, the Access manager issue that don't permit use a policy agent in the same domain where Am is installed is because some libraries are overriden and classpath loader do nasty things.
So what I could suggest you is search a bit about compatibilities and if you don't find any issue, you could test.
I don't see other way to enforce such a rule :(.

How To Disable UCS Direct KVM

We are having an issue with our IPs of our Direct KVM being flagged with an Apache web server vulnerabilities. We do not even use the IP KVM and wanted to know if there is a way to disable the IP KVM all together. Is this possible? If so how can i do this? TAC has been zero help on this matter and our management is getting impatient.

Only way I can think of is by deleting the "ext-mgmt" pool or the "Inband" pool in case you are using inband management, but I am not sure of all the consequences of leaving CIMC without an IP but one important consequence I want to warn you about is that if you lose remote access, KVM is just best friend for troubleshooting, otherwise you need to go to the lab and console directly... if that is not a concern, I hope deleting the pool helps you accomplish your goal.

IP Address = DNS Name

I have a MacOS X Server with DHCP. In the client list, most of my Macs pickup and IP address fine. What I find interesting is the the DNS Name is being set to that IP address. Is that normal?

Typically that means you don't have working reverse DNS for those IP addresses. If there's no reverse IP address there's no way for the server to map the IP to a name, hence it displays the IP.

Adding direct server access to CSM in bridge mode

I have a CSM that I have set up in bridge mode and want to allow direct management access to the real servers.
It looks like this. MSFC 10.1.100.1
CSM 10.1.100.3
Reals 10.1.100.10
10.1.100.20
10.1.100.25
Virtual 10.1.100.130
10.1.100.140
I tried to use the same method that I found for routed mode on CCO.
Serverfarm SERVER-SUBNET
No nat server
Predictor forward
Vserver DIRECT-ACCESS
Virtual 10.1.100.0 255.255.255.0 tcp any
Serverfarm SERVER-SUBNET
Inservice
The next step in the documentation says to add a static route to the CSM
Ip route 10.1.100.0 255.255.255.0 10.1.100.3
But this does not make since since the MSFC 10.1.100.1 address is already the default gateway.
So is there another way to configure bridge mode and enable direct management access?

After I thought about bridge mode again and took out the direct-access and server-subnet commands. I tested again and I can now directly access the servers.

Accessing an IP address trouble shooting

I am trying access an IP address for my security camera system at my work. I am able to enter the IP address on any Windows based computer and have it work, but for some reason on my Mac it won't open the site. I use Safari as my browser. Does anyone know if I need to change any specific settings on my Mac or Safari? Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I have tried this on my MacBook and on my big Mac at home and neither will open the site. Thanks

What actually happens when you try? Specifically, what error message do you get.
The error message will eliminate a lot of red herring answers.
For example, does Safari say it 'can't find server...' (which could be a DNS problem), or does it say 'cannot connect to the server' (which indicates a different class of network problem).
Or maybe you connect fine but you don't get a video image? That could be because the camera uses ActiveX for display rather than something that works cross-platform.
So, please re-post with more detail of what you're experiencing.

I recently started receiving the following pop up window (access violation at address 00000000. Read of address 00000000) every time I restart my machine.
Sometimes I have one pop up, other times I have to shut down because it continues to give me continuous pop ups.

Disconnect the Router from the computer & connect the computer directly to the Modem ...check if you are getting the same kind of Pop-ups ....

Probl with primary address, DNS, LDAP

Hi,
my Mac OS Server runs as a gataway, LDAP Sever, and as a DNS Server. I have some interesting effects.
1. DNS Configuration in Server Admin some times is visible, some times not. All Changes I make are lost, next Time i see the configuration.
I think this happends since Upgrading from 10.4 to 10.5.1
2. The user blabla, also migrated from 10.4 to 10.5.1, runs well, is visible in the List of the Directory Admin, but the Data in the Basic View is not shown. For all other users, every thing is well.
3. changeip -checkhostname shows me the address of the interface connected to the Internet. My DNS zone is for the other interface. Both interfaces are in different are in different networks. If i change the primary address by changing the service order of the interfaces in the network preferences. changeip -checkhostname says all fine an DNS name is ok, but i am not more connected to the Internet.

Just got off the phone with support for this very same problem. DNS Proxy is definitely dying in the TC, looks like a firmware issue to me.
This is the 3rd TC I'm on. First was a 500GB, had this problem, replaced it under warranty at Apple's direction, replacement did the same, just upgraded this weekend to 1GB, and same issue still. All on 7.3.2 firmware.
TC 1TB, PPPoE to my ISP, ISP's DNS Servers listed in the PPPoE config in the TC.
When a host gets DHCP from the TC the only DNS returned is the TC itself, since it proxies the ISP DNS servers.
Once every day or two, the DNS proxy dies. local network works, and I can add my ISP's DNS addresses in my host config and I have DNS again, but this is definitely something dying in the DNS proxy in the TC.
Just for kicks trying to switch from my ISP's DNS servers to OpenDNS now since someone said that worked for them, but I am not hopeful... I don't see this as a host DNS issues at all.
The dead proxy is very clear:

I replaced a linksys router with the TC and am kind of unhappy that a $500 router dies every couple of days. My cheapo Linksys router never needed to be restarted, it only ever got rebooted once every year or so when the house lost power long enough for the UPS to run out of battery.
Help us out here Apple, I replaced a $50 router with a $500 because I like the flavor of your kool aid, and this thing dies every day or two. Even if you can't fix why the proxy is dying every couple of days, can you please at least update the firmware to maybe restart the proxy if it quits working?

Unity Express Backup: Can we use DNS name of FTP server instead of IP address?

In the Unity Express system, can we use DNS name of FTP server (Microsoft FTP Server) instead of IP address in the General configuartion for Backup Server?
e.g. FTP://FTP_Server_Name/Directory
Additionally we need to configure/add DNS server name in the Domain Name settings under system menu. Is there any additional configuration would require for setting up FTP server with DNS entry & above config?

Once you have created a policy with the settings you require you can apply it to a user (or multiple users) by using either the ECP or using the shell:
In ECP there are 2 ways:
1. Select the mailbox (or mailboxes) then select "View Details" under "Email Connectivity". This will open a dialog allowing you to apply the relavant owa policy.
2. Edit the mailbox and navigate to "Mailbox Features". Then select "View Details" under "Email Connectivity". This will open a dialog allowing you to apply the relavant owa policy.
In Shell:
Set-CASMailbox -Identity <email address> -OwaMailboxPolicy:<owa policy name>
If you need to do multiple mailboxes using the shell you can pipe it through a Get-CASMailbox command.

We would like to request Microsoft Remote Desktop (MRD) to behave the same as the open source CoRD.app on OS X with respect URL resolution.
Example:MRD will resolve from Terminal rdp://full%20address=s:<IP or DNS Name>, but not rdp://<IP or DNS Name>
As the OS will respect any of the following protocols in Terminal or browser:

From your description it appears that you want to modify the pattern for assigning the rdp full address but this doesn’t support as per your requirement. That is the default string which we need to have for passing full address.

We are having an issue running Diadem 8.1 on a new HP XW 9400 with Windows XP SP2. 3 errors have been occuring with frequent crashes, they are:
1) "1Exception EAccessViolation in module ntdll.dll at 000111DE. Access violation at address 7C9111DE in module 'ntdll.dll". Read address 37363430.
2) The instruction at "0x7c9111de" referenced memory at "0x352e302d". The memory could not be "read".
3) ---Error--- DIAdem
Error in Autosequence - processing in line: 74 (IARV_VAR_GET)
Runtime Error while executing command "Iarv2Txt$ := FR(T9,L1)"
Error type: ACCESS VIOLATION
Error address: 000101DE
Module name:ntdll.dll
We are using the same scripts and version 8.1 on a variety of Dell desktop computers (W2K and XP SP2) without any issue, looking for suggestions as this affects no other software on the HP XW 9400 other than DIAdem. Appreciate any suggestions.

Unfortunately, The reported access violation in the central Windows ntdll.dll is very unspecific.
May be the following questions will help you to provide me more info.
1. You mentioned that the aut's and - I think - also the accessed text file reside on a server.
Is there a stable network connection?
The server can sometimes be a little slow but the connection is good. This computer is using the same connection that the prior computer utilized without issue.
Are the files accessed by multiple clients simultaneously?
It is possible that more than one computer can be accessing the same file, but again, this has never been an issue. We are reading the files only, not writing to them.
The processing routines we are running have used for over 5 years without any issues until adding this computer.
Is the text file read by one client while another client is writing the same file?
No, files are "read only"
2. Have you already tested opening the file with the FileOpen command before calling FR?
Yes
Do you see any chance to convert the aut to a vbs file? This gives you more alternatives in accessing text files.
3. What do you mean with "processing ATD's with 30 or more channels of data"? Where is the relation between ATD files and data channels?
Processing Crash Dummy data with file sets low in channel count (15 channels) result in successful processing without any crashes or access errors. When processing dummies with more than 20 channels we sometimes encounter these issues. The higher channel count may be the only common factor I can find in these faults.

I have reprot A with link to report B, report B is created using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS. so it is just a table, but i need to filter out 2 columns.
here is the query in REPORT B:

I didnt tested using url, but the same works with using presentation variables.
To your direct sql add where clause for those two columns like WHERE col='@{col1}' and col ='@{col2}'
and try to run from url.

What does this error mean? Error: Access violation at address 0053DD46

I am trying to run diff reports using batch scripts, and its very puzzling that some of the diff report scripts within the batch script are running and some are not, there is no consistency to what is getting errored out.
I then tried running them manually in foreground on the client and I get the same issue. Has anyone encountered this issue? What do I make of it?,

This is issue is coherent in DRM version 11.1.1.2
Whenever a property is deleted, the references to that property would still exists/stored in tables. The next version of DRM is made to address this issue, where in it takes care of removing all references whenever we delete the property.
Cause: Properties was deleted from DRM client but the value was still stored in the compare table for Difference export and causing export to fail.
Solution: Need to recreate the deleted properties and remove the properties in the exports and delete the properties.
Going Forward: Instead of deleting the properties we need to remove the property from the export and hide the property.
