UCS manager blade memory "Delete" command

I have a question, and I cannot seem to find an answer in documentation or other questions on the support community.  In UCS Manager, if you click a blade server, click the inventory tab, click the memory subtab, you see a graphical display of the memory modules.  If you click on a moduleto select it then right-click it, the menu available includes a "Delete" command.  Does this shut down that particular module, or does it just keep UCS Manager from monitoring it?  Or is it something else more damaging or permanent?  Is it possible to "Add" the module back once that command was issued?  If possible, please provide any documentation or links that would answer this definitively.  Thanks!
Gil

Thanks for the information!  I work with a group that is performing some failure testing, and we were trying to figure a way to fail a memory module while the blade is running.  We were not sure of the purpose of the mentioned command in UCS manager and did not want to try it without knowing if it had serious consequences.

  • Monitoring Cisco UCS Manager via HP System Information Manager 7.1 (SIM)

I am working with a customer to configure HP System Information Manager 7.1 (SIM) to monitor their Cisco UCS Manager.
The customer is looking to monitor the following:
    - CPU Utilization on manager, blades, servers, etc...
    - Memory utilization
    - Network utilization
    - System inventory
Alerting is needed for the following:
    - Hardware failures: memory, power supply, drive, etc...
    - Predictive failures
    - Alert messages
I have the list of all the MIBs provided by Cisco but an having the following issues while loading them into HP SIM.
While loading MIB "CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-TC-MIB" I get the following error message:
    Line 128: Error defining object: expected a label, found reserved symbol {
    Line in MIB: SYNTAX Gauge32 {
Guage32 is imported from SNMPv2-SMI MIB
To get past this error I found a version of the MIB that removes all the textual conventions that where causing errors.  I have attached the fixed MIB file to this discussion. With the fixed version of the MIB installed in SIM everything compiles and installs except the following two MIBS. CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-NOTIFS-MIBCISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-CONFORM-MIB Questions:
    1. Is there any way to get the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-TC-MIB MIB to install correctly into HP SIM?
    2. Is my MIB load order setup correctly?
    3. Has anyone had success getting HP SIM to monitor and alert for Cisco UCS manager?

    Please post "debug ccsip messages".
Based on your debug you are getting "Cause No. 38 - network out of order."
You may want to bind SIP to an interface that the IP address is defined which Lync points to.

google found some questions, but not fittung answers.
    So far:
    - I checked the folder & users rights.
    - I found some /tmp/ files - yes I "backup" the backuped archivelogs to-delete files in /tmp - I only active archivelogmode so I can onlinebackup
    - I managed to login via rman and execute DELETE OBSOLETE manual - result above.
    - Actual I delete the set one by one to find the problem set. (delete backupset 12345 ) from the list manually.
Some a good idea what went wrong?
additional: Is there a way to let oracle delete the empy archvielog-directories after deleting the logs within?
18:00- the command "RMAN> BACKUP CURRENT CONTROLFILE" also fails.

I'm looking for a way to manage in custom application the associations between agents and skillgroups. From what I've looked there isn't any API.
I was wondering if there is a command line bulk tool for this purpose.
Could anybody give me some lights up on this?
    Thanks in advance.
    RB

There used to be bulk load config tools, but they didn't do proper error checking as the GUI tools do.
I don't think there were ever bulk "change" (i.e. skill group member), or delete command-line tools.

Use iTunes on your computer to store items that you want to save but are not needed on the iPad. Learn to sync and also learn how to do file transfers. Delete unneeded items from the iPad.
When you connect your iPad to iTunes you will see a bar describing how much of your storage space is being used on your iPad. I always suggest leaving plenty of space open for the iOS and apps to operate.

  • Windows 2008 in UCS B200 Blade NIC VLAN problem

    Hello Experts,
I've installed Windows 2008 Enterprise on Bare-metal UCS B-200 M2 server with VIC M81KR Mezannine card. UCS Manager version is 1.3(c).
The Problem that I have is that I cannot define VLANs on the NIC adapter inside Windows. is this a problem with the NIC driver ?
( Other NIC cards in other machine for example, have Advnaced Tab in the network configuration where we can define VLANs ).
( in this situation, Windows is un-aware of the VLANs so all the traffic going out will be untagged and FI sending it to the native VLAN on the network).
Attached is a screenshot of the NIC properties in Windows. Your help is highly appreciated on this.
    Regards,
    Mohammad

Thank you for your answer Padma.
I have simple requirement for this to work. I have two blades windows installed on them and NICs having IPs from the range of VLAN 100 ( IP range : 192.168.100.x). Now I need to reach these two windows machines from other subnets ( subnet VLAN 2 for example / range 192.168.2.x ).
In this scenario, I cannot reach these two windows machines until I define VLAN 100 as native ( default ) in vNIC configuration in the service profile of the balde. ( I understand that windows is sending the traffic un-tagged and because VLAN 100 is the native VLAN in UCS manager, it will forward this un-tagged traffic to VLAN 100 where it is routed to VLAN 2 in our case ).
Do you have any other suggestions for other configuration for these windows machine to be reached from different VLANs in our network ?
    Thanks,
    Mohammad

  • UCS B blade connection to terminal server

I have a UCS B200 m3. I would like to have console access from a termial server directly to the blade. Is there anything that I need to enable on the ucs manager?
I can go into the ucs manager and click on "KVM Console" and get a session, but I need to have it through the term server.
To try to accomplish this, I used the console port on the blade. It comes with a dongle that connects there. That dongle has a serial, 2 usb and a video port.
I connected the serial end to a serial cable, and with a ethernet connector (those small square ones) to one end of an octal cable on my terminal server.
I'm not getting anything on the console through the term server.
In the ucs manager I've tried going into the servers->Policies->root->BIOS defaults->Cisco UCS B200-M3->Server Management
There I've enabled console redirection and 9600BAUD
    Also tried on
servers->Policies->root->BIOS Policies->SRIOV to change the console redirection fields. I had no progress with that.
Has someone done this before that can help? Or someone that has an idea how this should work?

  • UCS Manager Update from 2.1(1a) / 2.1(1b) to full 2.1(3b) cause Policy Reference Error on iSCSI

    Hello,
I actualy did a UCS firmware upgrade from a mixed 2.1(1a) and 2.1(1b) to a full 2.1(3a) version.
Chassis are 2208XP, Fabrics are 6248UP and blades are all B200-M3.
I use firmware policy to update the firmware on the blades.
Here are the current version of the different componments:
    - CIMC, Adapterers and BIOS Server: 2.1(3b)
    - UCS Software: 2.1(3b)
    - IO Modules:  2.1(1b)
    - Fabric Kernel / System : 2.1(1b)
After UCS Software update when I connect on UCS Manager I got several warning referencing the error "Policy reference autProfileName does not resolve to named policy" on different parts.
I have follow some post to resolve some of them:
    - iSCSI nic is created without Authentication profile issues:
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCui43905
    - Default SOL policy issue:
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtl88314
This resolve a lot of error but I'm still having errors like this on all my iscsi NIC:
    Causing this:
Right now the update of the IOMs and FIs are on standby until I resolve this.
Can I have some help please.

It looks like you are hitting:
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCui43905
    Symptom:
Warning with the text "Policy reference  authProfileName  does not resolve to named policy" is seen when creating  an iSCSI nic on a service profile.
    Conditions:
Issue happens only when iSCSI nic is created without an Authentication profile
    Workaround:
    Use Authentication profile
    Create a Default Authentication Profile
Existing  warnings from the previous version would still exist even after the  upgrade and that can be isolated only using the above work around. If  new service profiles are created on the 2.2.1b version will not  experience this issue.
Here is how to create an authentication profile:

  • Renaming existing VLANs in UCS Manager

    Hi guys
I would like to find out the possibility of renaming existing VLANs in UCS Manager 2.1.3b or a link where I can get the info or how to do doc best practices.
    Thanks a million,
    Ziccho_Virt

    Hello,
This feature is not available any of the UCS releases at this time. A workaround if you
need to make the name change to your existing VLAN, would be to create a new VLAN with the
name you would prefer and with the same VLAN ID. Then apply this VLAN (with the new name)
to the interfaces as needed (vNICs and Ethernet uplinks). Once you are certain that you
have added the "new" VLAN to all interfaces as needed, you may remove the original VLAN
from each interface. Once the original VLAN is removed from the interfaces, you can then
delete it from the LAN tab altogether.
Please note that the above is an unofficial workaround.
There is an enhancement logged for this behavior. You can follow it's status using this link:
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCui83127

  • Skip the DELETE command on logical standby

    Hi All,
I want to skip the DELETE command on logical standby.
    DB Version - 10.2
    OS - Linux
Primary DB and logical standby DB .
In our DB schema some transaction tables. We delete data from those tables by delete commands.
Delete command, also delete data from logical standby DB. But we want to skip on logical standby DB .
I use following for that and get error.
    ALTER DATABASE STOP LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY;
    EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.SKIP (stmt =>'DELETE TABLE', schema_name =>'TEST',object_name =>'TRANS',proc_name => null);
    ALTER DATABASE START LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY IMMEDIATE;
    But I got error
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'SKIP'
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
When I change stmt =>'DELETE TABLE' to stmt =>'DML', no error happen
Please help me to solve this issue . This is urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Dear aditi2,
Actually it is so simple to understand the problem. Please read the following documentation and try to understand the SKIP procedure.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/appdev.101/b10802/d_lsbydb.htm#997290
    *SKIP Procedure*
Use the SKIP procedure to define filters that prevent the application of SQL statements on the logical standby database.
By default, all SQL statements executed on a primary database are applied to a logical standby database.
If only a subset of activity on a primary database is of interest for application to the standby database,
you can use the SKIP procedure to define filters that prevent the application of SQL statements on the logical standby database.
While skipping (ignoring) SQL statements is the primary goal of filters,
it is also possible to associate a stored procedure with a DDL filter so that runtime determinations can be made whether to skip the statement,
execute this statement, or execute a replacement statement.
    Syntax
    DBMS_LOGSTDBY.SKIP (
         stmt                      IN VARCHAR2,
         schema_name               IN VARCHAR2,
         object_name               IN VARCHAR2,
         proc_name                 IN VARCHAR2,
         use_like                  IN BOOLEAN,
         esc                       IN CHAR1);Hope That Helps.

  • Delete Command in Internal table

    Hi Friends,
Currently i am using  DELETE command in internal table. My main requirement is delete the records in internal table based on the select -options given in Selection screen.
    Synatx is given below.
DELETE i_list WHERElifsk NOT in S_lifsk[].
It is working fine if we give positive values  ie EQ 24 etc.
if we give negetive values if NE 23(in select options) here
    sy-subrc is failing.
    Can any one kindly suggest.
    Regards,
    DVNS.

    Hi DV
Its so simple... u r requirement is to delete all the entries which are not in the select options.
Ur sintax is working correct.  Because, even if u hit a database table with select querry using this select option,  it will fetch all the positive entries and excludes all negative entries....
if still u feel problem is persisting...  then fetch the lifsk from db table using this select option into an internal table and then filter how ever u want.
