UDF value addition at runtime

Hello Experts,
As there are lots of UDFs are being used in the system. But problem we are facing is that whenever request comes to add a new value in UDF. I need to shutdown the system rather close all the screens and all the users are required to stop working.
Is there any way that we can add value without interupting the users.

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to add new UDF to B1, right?
It is very important to ensure nobody else in the system. Because you are making change to your database, not just add a value like normal data entry.
You can ignore the warning to add or edit UDF even with someone else logged in. However, that should be avoid since you are taking chance to be lucky that those user are not lock up any tables.
It is not convient for you. But those restriction will ensure your database integrity.
My recommendation is: plan ahead for UDF, add them in a batch and restrict adding UDF only when there is no other choice

This statement declares a general instance method meth. Use additions ABSTRACT and FINAL to make the method abstract or final.
The additions IMPORTING, EXPORTING and CHANGING define the parameter interface of the method. After every addition, the corresponding formal parameters are defined by a specification of the list parameters.
The other additions determine which exceptions the method can propagate or trigger and determine whether the method is abstract or final.
Note
Within a method, you can use the logical expression IS SUPPLIED to check whether an actual parameter was assigned to an optional formal parameter at the call.
Addition 1

Effect
IMPORTING defines input parameters. When calling the method, you need not specify an appropriate actual parameter for every non-optional input parameter. During the call, the content of the actual parameter is passed to the input parameter. Use PREFERRED PARAMETER to identify an input parameter p1 p2 ... of list parameters after IMPORTING as a preferred parameter. This specification makes sense only if all input parameters are optional. When calling the method with the syntax

the actual parameter a is assigned to the preferred parameter if you have appropriate use of a functional method at an operand position.

Effect
EXPORTING defines output parameters. When calling the method, you can specify an appropriate actual parameter for every output parameter. The content of the output parameter - which is defined for value transfer - is passed to the actual parameter at the call after the method has been completed successfully.
Note
An output parameter that is defined for the reference transfer is not initialized when the method is called. Therefore, no read access to it should take place before the first write access.

CHANGING defines input/output parameters. When calling the method, you must specify an appropriate actual parameter for every non-optional input/output parameter. The method read_spfli_into_table of this example has an input and an output parameter, which are typed fully by reference to the ABAP Dictionary.

For exc1 exc2 ..., you can specify all exception classes that are visible at this position and are subclasses of CX_STATIC_CHECK or CX_DYNAMIC_CHECK. You must specify the exception classes in ascending order corresponding to their inheritance hierarchy.
Exceptions of the categories CX_STATIC_CHECK and CX_DYNAMIC_CHECK must be declared explicitly, otherwise a propagation results in a violation of the interface. An interface violation results in a treatable exception CX_SY_NO_HANDLER. Exceptions of category CX_NO_CHECK are always implicitly declared.
Notes
The declaration of exceptions of category CX_STATIC_CHECK is checked statically at the syntax check. For exceptions of category CX_DYNAMIC_CHECK, the check is executed at runtime.
In a method in which class-based exceptions are declared with the addition RAISING, you cannot use the statement CATCH SYSTEM-EXCEPTIONS. Instead, handle the relevant treatable exceptions in a TRY control structure.
Example
In class math, you can propagate all exceptions represented by class CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_ERROR and its subclasses from within method divide_1_by. If, for example, the input parameter operand is filled at the call with the value 0, then the exception CX_SY_ZERODIVIDE is triggered, propagated, and can, as shown in the example, be handled by the caller in a TRY control structure.

Exceptions defined in this way are bound to the method - similar to formal parameters - and cannot be propagated.
If such an exception is triggered in a method and no return value has been assigned to it in the addition EXCEPTIONS of the CALL METHOD statement in the method call, then a runtime error occurs.
Note
The additions RAISING and EXCEPTIONS cannot be used simultaneously. For new developments starting at release 6.10, we recommend to use class-based exceptions, which are independent of the respective method.

In the class math, for method divide_1_by an exception arith_error is defined, which is triggered in the method with the RAISE statement if an arithmetic error occurs. If, for example, the input parameter operand is filled with value 0 at the call, the exception arith_error is triggered in the method-internal handling of exception CX_SY_ZERODIVIDE and handled after the call of the method by evaluating sy-subrc.

UDF Value is not coming in the query report

Hi all,
i have designed query report based on AR Invoice which has some UDF .
all udf have FMS applied and all these udf has values.
when i run report some times udf values are coming in the report and somtimes not even if udf contains values.
if i open perticular invoice and again update that udf and again run report now udf value will come in the report.
every time i need to manualy update the udf even if that udf contain value.
how to avoide this problem.
Pls suggest solution.

Try this,
-> Open the require document(module).
Assign this procedure and then ADD the document
and Run the Query Report.
1. Goto the UDF and Click (ShiftAltF2).
2. Select the SEARCH BY SAVED QUERY.
3. Assign the FMS Query in UDF.
4. Select the AUTO REFRESH WHEN FIELD CHENGES.
5. Select the Auto Refresh Field (for example CardCode (or) Remarks).
6. Check the Display Saved Values.
OR
-> Open the require document(module).
1. Goto the UDF and Click (ShiftAltF2).
2. When will you add the document at that time
you can Click the SHIFT + F2 and than ADD the document.
and than Run the Query Report.

How to get a Header UDF value in a FMS ?

Hi !
How is it possible to get a Header UDF value from a Formatted Search in a header ? If we don't want to create as many FMS as there are marketing documents in the system, how is it possible ? Can we have a syntax like the following ?

How to change UDF value in system form if its invisible or inactive?

Hi all,
I need to compute some document total values and save them on UDFs defined on Sales Order Header document, when the user adds a new order line.
However I must not allow the user to change them (or see them). Also, there are other UDFs on the Sales Order Header that the user must be allowed to change...
Is there any way to control this? If I set a UDF as not 'Active', I cannot change its value with programming.
I'm using the following command to change a UDF value on the Sales Order form:
                    Form form = B1Connections.theAppl.Forms.GetForm("-139", pVal.FormTypeCount);
                    EditText et = (EditText)form2.Items.Item("U_TotalTax1").Specific;

UDF Value not showing in SQL

Dear Experts...
Here is a strange situation in my DB. I have some UDF on A/P Invoice for TAX details print preview.
UDF Values are properly showing in SAP but not in SQL in same table, Same document they are blank in SQL.
I can't understand why SQL does not showing me Value of UDF.

Not copying UDFs values from Payment voucher to JE UDF value

FMS to Display Item group UDF value

I have created Title level udf named U_WP in the item group table. Each group wise i have entered diferent values in this field.
I have created one more title level UDF in item master by same name U_WP.
I want FMS to select the UDF value from U_WP in OITB to be displayed in U_WP in OITM when when ever user select the
respective item group in item master while adding new code.

I've tested the query below and it should give you what you need:
SELECT T0.\[U_WP\] FROM OITB T0 WHERE T0.\[ItmsGrpCod\] = $\[$-39.0\]
A couple of things, make sure both the Item Group UDF and Item UDF are setup as the same structure (type and length).
Set the formatted search on the Item UDF so that it refreshes when the Item Group changes.
That should give you what you need.

I need urgently to find a way for passing a value to formula runtime using cr 4 eclipse.

Error 5398 Duplicate value addition in attribute ...

I'm seeing the following error messages in my error log and am not sure what to do about it since the reference guide does not list it. Solaris 8, DS 5.2.

Here are some historical events that may help shed light on things:
The errors are occuring on Searay. I have another LDAP server called Mantaray. Here is some historical data that ay help shed light on the matter:
I wanted the DNS domain the LDAP was using changed on Searay so I configured searay:o=vpn for Master replication and created o=vpn on Mantaray and configured it as a consumer.
After the suffix was replicated I broke the replication and unconfigured Searay and then configured it. I then did the reverse and made Mantaray:o=vpn the master and Searay:o=vpn the consumer. I then broke the replication again and tried to get Multi-Master replication to work between the two servers. It took a few tries before things seemed to start working right.

I did look at the des.ldif for each server and both looked okay.

Getting value type at runtime

I am using Scanner to get tokens from a buffer. I need to know the type (class) of the value returned. Instead of using "if" statement and hasNext?() for each possible type, is there a method that just return the type. Something like:
Class c = get(String s);So, if s is "Address", c would be set to String.class. If s is "true", c would be set to Boolean.class... etc

How to change UDF value in created A/R Invoice or A/P Good Receipt PO?

I have created my UDFs in Marketing Document Rows.
After I've added some documents such as A/R Invoice or Good Receipt PO , I want to change my UDFs value for sometime. But B1 don't let me do that. I know and understand the reason why we can't change this rows data. But I want to change my UDFs only , so it don't effect any other things.
How can I do this? or Can SDK help me?

Batch details window cannot save UDF value

Hi experts!
Did anybody else experience that if you want to update a user defined field of a batch in 'Batch details' window, it pretends as everything was saved successfully, but UDF values are not saved in fact. I tried it with 8.81 PL05 (and earlier versions as well)
I found a note (1431365) of a similar problem but it is about the General update button of "Batch management" window, and this note suggests to use "Batch details" instead. Quite weird that updating (normal update, not global) a UDF value in "Batch management" window seems to work fine for me, the modified value can be seen on "Batch details" window.

Well, originally our customer recorded this behavior on 8.8 PL20 (8.80.238)
I tried it on almost the same database, in our developer environment, that has slightly different patch level: PL21.
Then i tried with a 8.81 PL05 database too. There are some addon installed, but none of them was running, and i could not find any formatted search on this window.
But i suppose i figured out what happened.
For updating UDF i always switch on the user defined fields window (Ctrl-shift-U), and use this window. I did so in this case as well. (and our customer did so)
But now i realized that in this case UDF-s appears on the native window as well. We have to scroll down to see them, that's why i hadn't realized them before. Those fields work fine. I guess you used those fields too. Can you confirm it?
