Under Warranty - Products Not as Described in Desciption When Purchases

I bought a portable cam recorder for my helmet.  After one ride, I tried to download with the USB calbe provided, however it is not a recognizable device so I feel the product was not as advertised.  I have tried to download to both a Mac and a regular Windows computer, neither recognize the device. Also I purchased extra memory described as additional memory card for the camera, however it is not the same size as the one in the camera so also not as I purchased by the advertisement.  Sent email to customer service email provided by seller.  The camera says it has a year warranty.  Doesn't seem right to have to use warranty if it is not an item as advertised both the camera and also the memory card.

It IS Verizon who is helping you out, but it ISN'T Verizon's warranty. It is Samsung's warranty. Verizon simply acts as a middle man to facilitate the warranty so you are not without a phone while obtaining warranty service.
If you are unhappy with how Verizon is "helping" you out with Samsung's warranty, simply contact Samsung about the warranty on THEIR phone. Then you would have to send the phone into Samsung, have them determine if it is a covered warranty issue and then either fix your phone OR send you a refurbished one just like the one you got from Verizon. Of course, then you would be without a phone for a couple of weeks or so while you are waiting for your phone/replacement to be returned. In the end, you would still be in the possession of a refurbished device.
No cellular provider warranties phones. It is always the phone manufacturer which provides the warranty and who is responsible for it.
If you purchase a Verizon phone from Best Buy/Amazon/etc... it is STILL the manufacturer who warranties it, not Verizon/Best Buy/Amazon/etc...
Furthermore, the warranty IS as it seems. This is ALL spelled out on the box your phone came in. There is nothing written there which would lead you to believe you will receive a NEW phone as a warranty replacement.

Buy a charger. They are under $10 US equivalent on ebay India and you can have it in a couple days.

Any thoughts about my second go around with an I pad that will not charge. This is second go around and I'm wondering if I should repalce or opt out and go different route ???? Can not imagin that Apple could give the type of support  I'm recieving and continue?? The first one was under warranty not so lucky this time.

Go to the Apple Store and try a different charger & cable.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Q430 battery dying confirmed through Samsung customer service but they want me to send the whole compute and battery and ac charger in for service a 2-3 week process at which time my daughter will be without her college computer.
Why not just replace the battery?

Do you have the Samsung with the non removable on the back battery?

  • HT4528 Can I get a screen replacement for free if i'm still under warranty?

Can I get a screen replacement for free if i'm still under warranty?

Not if it was caused by accidental damage. You can make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and see if they do screen replacement. If they do it is $149, if they can't it is $229 for an out-of-warranty replacement. If you bought AppleCare + it is a $49 deductible.

It can only be serviced in the country where it was originally sold.  Take it back to the US or send it to someone you know there to take it in for service.

  • X201s LCD issue not taken under warranty

I had posted earlier on this issue here
I purchased my x201s last year and after maybe a week or two (or maybe since new) I noticed a white spot on the left side corner of the screen (see photo). Because I use my laptop for work everyday I could not send it back (I wish I had choosen the onsite warranty).
Having some free time these days I sent it back to lenovo. There response was that it is going to cost me $700 and did not give any explanation as to why it was not cover under the warranty.
The person reluctantly escalated my issue to another service without giving me any explanation at all and the answer came back $700 dollars to fix the screen.
I am outraged at the way I have been treated on this issue. I have not been given any information, I have been without laptop for two weeks now and I don't seem to be able to talk to anyone else than my initial contact who is to say the least uncooperative.
There is no reason to be treated like this for a $500 dollars piece of equipment. But when you paid $2000 dollars this is as if Lenovo was saying we don't provide customer service anymore go to our competitors
My last ressource is this forum. If there is a way for me to get in contact with a manager who could look at my case I would greatly appreciate it.

the light spot means there is a pressure spot behind the LCD. This should be replaceable under warranty.
And particularily this one with option d exactly describing what happened to me:
    lead_org wrote:

    1) can you post an image of the problem?
    2) Cracked LCD can be due to:
    a) dropping the laptop on a hard surface.
    b) the LCD have uneven pressure spot behind the LCD, which when loaded by an external force (i.e. putting a large load on the top case), causes a concentrated stress resulting in LCD cracking.
    c) closing the LCD too hard, i.e. slamming it shut
    d) a manufacturing defect or there is construction defect, if the latter usually light spots on the LCD would appear first.
cases a,b and c are the most common causes of LCD cracking.
Unless you have some sort of proof that the case d was the cause of the LCD cracking, then there is very little likelihood that Lenovo would repair the LCD damage under warranty.
All of this to say that this is what I experienced. An lcd white spot appearing a few weeks after having received the laptop (may there since the beggining..) and I then later noticed tiny cracks.
I feel this is my right as any consummer to express my concerns and receive the service associated with my product. My mistake is not to have returned the laptop right away

  • My iPhone 5 has flickeringlights apple cannot repair it or replace it even though I am under the warranty period as I bought my my phone in Ireland and now I am in Australia.how can apple offer worldwide warranty and not do anything about it ?

Why does apple cannot repair a phone or replace it is still under warranty even though it is bought from Ireland and make is of USA be coz the warranty is worldwide.what should I do ,I have talked to AppleCare in Australia as well as Ireland and they couldn't help.any hope for this question please?

You have to send it to a friend/relative in the US and have them bring tt to an Apple Store for warranty purposes.
FYI: It was purchased in Ireland.
Not looking to start a big debate over this.
    Note that under the warranty,
"IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device."
It does not state they WILL NOT service in another country.
Likewise, nowhere does it state it MUST be serviced in country of purchase.
    Also;
"Service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary according to country. You may be responsible for shipping and handling charges if the Apple Product cannot be serviced in the country it is in. If you seek service in a country that is not the original country of purchase, you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or replace Apple Products and parts with comparable Apple Product and parts that comply with local standards."
This paragraph would not be here if it was only as simple as "service is only available in the original country of purchase".
    Soniafromire,
I'd press the issue and see if they will send it to the country of purchase for service if you pay these fees.

No. You must call and make an arrangement to return yours for a replacement. They will set up the return and send you a box and shipping label. Then you send your old charger, cable, etc. back. A new one will be returned to you.

Apple's Limited Warranty http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for iPad excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications.
The warranty will apply to the country of purchase. And if there is a problem needing repair you have to return it to the country of purchase.
    Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace (Apple doesn't repair) your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below. (The replacement will most likely be a refurbished iPad in a brown box, however, it has a new screen, back and battery.)

    iPad mini

    iPad 3rd, 4th, Air
    $299
    iPad 2, iPad
    $249
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service. See http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad

  • Is it true that Apple will not replace an LCD under warranty?

I have an iPhone 4s, that I bought around a month ago. It is under warranty. I have been having issues with the phone since the day I received it in the mail. One being that I get dial tones and/or other static-y noises at the beginning of all outgoing and incoming calls, usually for about 2-3 seconds. The phone also randomly dies, even if it has 15, 20 sometimes even 30 percent battery left. The biggest issue I've ran into is the front screen of the phone popping off. Not completely, but enough to notice. The way I can tell when it happens is because the home button will feel weird, like majorly indented and then light can be seen coming out through the side of the phone. The problem is that each time this happens the screen would get little crack-looking disturbances or just discolored all over, and then tonight it popped out AGAIN while I was talking to my mom and then screen went black and the phone just started making a weird bonging sound over and over. For lack of a better term, I'm ******.
The phone itself is perfect. No scratches, no dents, nothing. It's always been in a case.
My husband is adamant that I'm wasting my time because Apple will not replace an LCD screen, but obviously the phone has had issues since I received it and it's not anything that I did! I spoke to a very nice representative who made an appointment at the Apple Store to have it checked out. Has anyone had any luck with getting something like this taken care of under warranty? Thanks!

The AppleTV update was not mandatory. It is not applied automatically, and will continue to function without an update. Others have reported successfully exchanging updated AppleTVs for models with earlier versions of the OS when there was a problem with the update.
Anybody whose equipment does not match Apple's specifications (e.g. those with TVs that do not have built-in HDMI ports, or that cannot accept a 720p signal) should be very wary of installing any updates. As these are not supported displays, Apple is unlikely to test updates on them, and it is possible that an update will cause loss of function. It would be wise to wait to hear from others with similar TVs before you decide whether to apply an update. This also means that if you own an unsupported TV, it is possible that you will not be able to get access to future updates that include features that you would like to have.
Frankly, if you have an unsupported TV and are dead-set against replacing it, you probably should consider returning or selling your AppleTV and buy a product, such as the Roku box, that supports your type of TV.
