Unicode filename in download box

I need to upload/download files with Unicode names from a file hosting service. Every thing is going fine except one thing - internet explorer.
The problem is that IE doesn't recognize the file name i'm sending as Unicode - showing me an encoded string instead in the download box. The page displays the file name okay however the download box doesn't. The problem happens only if the unicode file name has no extension. With an ascii extension, the file displays fine. With a unicode extension, the name part appears correct but then the extension itself is garbled. Firefox works like a charm.
What I'm basically doing, is that I check for the browser. If IE, I encode the filename and set the content-disposition header and stuff. If firefox, do it the firefox way (mark the filename field in the content-disposition with a * just before the equal sign). I then send the file data into a servlet output stream.
As a temporary solution, I'm appending a .NoExtension extension to extention-less filenames. This has to do for now, unless any body here has a better idea...

Force flash to open file download box in front of the flash movie

Folks,
I'm making a dvd title using flash to auto start when people
pops the dvd disc in.
I have a button 'Click here to download the movie' and
clicking the button should pop up a file download box so people can
save the movie file(.mov) to their desktop.
Problem is that the file download box shows up behind the
flash movie so people won't be able to see the download box since
it's hidden behind the flash. This is critical since I intend the
flash to open as a full-screen mode.
Is there a way to force the flash to open the download box in
front of the flash movie?
I tried getURL and fscommand ("exec", "filename.exe") and
even fileReference commands to try different way of linking the
movie file, and they all open download box behind the flash.
Please help~~~

Please do not post the same topic in multiple forums. The
only thing I can suggest is when they click on the button to
download, you take flash out of full screen while they download the
video, you can use fileReference to control and monitor the
download. Use a listener object to monitor when download is
complete, then set flash back to full screen.
How are you scripting the full screen?

I want to use applet to call the IE' file download box which does the csv download job.
Here is my idea:
First, click the menu of applet to call the servlet
Scecond,call the IE file download box by this servlet invoked by the applet.
The following code snippets intend to show the file download dialog:

unfortunately, the box didn't show!!!:-(

it happens with the keyboard disconnected. I was surprised it booted up without going through the user screen so I didn't have to enter my password.
and on another note, I'm sure it's obvious, but how do I boot up from my external drive with my imac? the other day when I was having serious issues while trying to fix this problem, I was unable to boot from my install disc

TS4357 i just bought an album off of itunes and it says processing 100% in the downloading box but a few of the songs still are not downloaded what do i do?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

A Video Site I've Gone To For Years (Liveleak), Never With Firefox, When I Click To Play The Video, Downloads Box Pops Up And Says I'm Downloading The Video.

So I Click The Play Button To Play The Video And The "Downloads" Box For Firefox Pops Up And Shows That I'm Downloading The Video. That's Great If I Want To Download The Video, But I Don't, I Just Want To Watch It There On The Site. I Just Now Downloaded Firefox Because I've Heard So Many Great Things About It. This Site (Liveleak) Was The First Site I Went To After Downloading, So It's Of To A Bad Start With Me For Firefox. This Site Works Fine In Internet Explorer No Problems Whatsoever, So Its Not The Site.

Sounds that you are missing the plugin that is used to play those videos embedded in Firefox. 
Your system details list doesn't show any media player plugin, so you will either have to check if the plugin(s) are installed, but disabled or install missing plugins.

You may need the new WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll) because Flash always uses a dedicated player to play the videos and would never offer to save videos directly unless an extension is used.

I used to be able to close the browser and still have the download box open and still download stuff but now I can't...what happened???!!!

I was in the process of downloading something tonight and decided to close my browser. Unfortunately, the download window also closed and that meant my download was gone and I would have to start over again.
I went back and started the download again and the download box showed the file picked up where it left off but when I closed the browser the same thing happened again; the download box closed when I closed the browser.
The reason I close the browser is because my downloads download faster when the browser is closed and now that option is closed to me.
Is this a new feature if so I don't like it as a matter of fact I would say I'm very pissed off with this new development. Please go back to fixing it so I can close the browser and still download.

I went to about:config like you suggest and changed the the thing you said. There is no improvement. Instead of my browser and the download box closing when I click on exit button/link now a box pops up with the message "If you exit now, 1 download will be canceled. Are you sure you want to exit?
I don't need a box to warn me that if I exit that the downloads manager would close as well...I already know that and that's the problem. I want a way to stop the download manager box from closing when I exit the browser like it used to.

Report Print & Export Issue (File Download Box appears)

We send a URL to Crystal Enterprise which runs a script, logs on, finds folder, finds report and displays in the Crystal report viewer. All that works fine....
However, when you select the print icon or the export icon a Windows Internet Explorer box to select page range etc. and then when you say OK, you recieve a File Download Box asking to Open/Save/Cancel one of the following:
Print - Name: CrystalViewer.pdf, and Type of pdf_auto_file
Export - Name: CrystalViewer.rpt, and Type of CrystalReports
I have no IDEA what he is trying to do but he sure ain't printing. I can only assume that I have a missing part that he is trying to download at the time of print/export. Or that there is something set in the script that is killing me...

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

Unicode filename problems in linux

I'm running into a problem in linux (Ubuntu). The following test code will throw an exception at the "FileInputStream fis... " line with the file has a unicode filename. However, Windows passes this without problems.

But the characters are actually chinese. And since
it's on Ubuntu, it would be in UTF-8 encoding

The characters display fine in ubuntu but when I try
to read them in using FileInputStream, it fails for
some filenames with strange characters.
I just don't understand why some characters make it
fail and others are fine. It seems that it should

Hi Mike,
Smart Folders aren't really folders at all, but really just pointers to Mails that meet certain criteria, if they're empty now there's a setting elsewhere that is likely deleting or removing those Mail after a certain time.
Right click or Control+click on one of those Smart boxes & choose Edit Smart Mailbox, check the criteria out, it may contain something Like If... Last viewed was 30 days or less, in which case they would disappear after not being viewed for 30 days even though you did nothing, the eMails would still be where they were originally though.

I downloaded a program and it never shiowed up in the download box. I can't find it anywhere on my computer. I tried it a few different times and from different sites but still nothing. What can I try next?

I suppose there is a possibility that you have security software than may be blocking quarantining or even deleting the downloaded file.
Normally if Firefox says in the download manager that the file is downloaded then it is on your computer, and if you right click you should get the option to open the folder the er the downloaded file is in.

Whenever I download a file nothing shows up in the Download box so I can't click on the downloaded file and load it. I'm using XP with Firefox ver 5.0 but the download box was always empty in previous versions too.

I can't "clear list" in the download box with the latest Firefox browser on any of my computers.

When I download a PDF or any file with firefox, the download box will appear like normal tracking the download until it's finished. Usually when the download is complete, you can click on "clear list" in the bottom left of the box to clear your download history, but with the latest version of Firefox none of my computers (I have two computers with Windows 7) can't click on "Clear List" as it is always greyed-out. Any help would be deeply appreciated, thank you.

See if you can update the driver with the local media, then re-boot and see if it will download again. I have seen updates break drivers, once a new driver is installed the systems returns to a normal state.
Quickbooks 2015 should not be effecting this section of the Server.
Click Here for the Microsoft Windows Update Trouble Shooter, it might help you out also.
Another one people run into is, "with large hard drives (1TB) and "Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST)"
drivers needed to be updated. Once the drivers updated windows update started working fine."
This might help you out also, "Windows Update Cannot Check for Updates."
