Unity Connection 8.6 accessing/uploading custom messages

I would like to create a custom auto attendant script / audio text application in Unity Connection but I am having difficulty understanding how I upload or add my custom pre recorded messages to unity connection so that I can access in the call handler configuration. In researching a different post, someone commented that you can upload via the "media bar" but I have yet to locate a 'media bar."

Hi Tim,
Here's the path;
Find List Call Handler > Edit > Greetings > Specified (Alternate,Standard,Closed etc.) >
Play/Record at bottom of page (this opens media Master) > Options > Open File > Browse
Cheers!

  • Unity Connection 8.5 Accessing and Purging user messages as admin

Is there a way as an admin I can purge a users saved voicemail messages in Unity Connection 8.5 without deleting their entire account and recreating it?
Also is there a way using an admin account I can access a users mailbox and export messages to individual files (.wav, etc.)for storage/playback/evidence purposes?
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
I'll just add another reference to the great info from Jonathan (+5 "J")
The best way with Unity Connection to delete VM's is with the use of this excellent tool from
    the great suite of Unity Tools (** "reset" feature);
    Unity Connection Bulk User Delete
For resetting users you have the option of emptying the mailbox,  resetting greetings, deleting voice names, resetting passwords,  removing private lists and a number of other options you may choose.   For installations where the user base “changes over” frequently such as  schools this may be a nicer option.  This option is also allowed for  CoRes installations since it does not involve the removal of user  objects from the Connection database.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.6 - Cannot Upload Greeting

Hello! I am running Unity Connection 8.6, using VMWare, in my home lab. When I try to upload a greeting to my System Call Handler, I get the following:
Unable to save recording due to SSL Certificate error. Would you like to accept the SSL certificate for this session and attempt to save the recording again?
When I choose OK I receive:
    Failed to record name
    Site: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/unity-connection-version-70/110950-unity-wav-issues.html#certerr
I visited the above site and tried importing the certificate into both Firefox and IE, but that did not seem to work. I also looked into Cisco Bug ID CSCto92753, but that also did not work. I looked at the Java Console Log and did a search for "access denied":
com.cisco.unity.mediamaster.MMApplet.stop() - Exception while saving preferences: access denied ("java.io.FilePermission" "C:\Users\Lalo\.cisco\unity\mediamaster\mm.properties" "read")
I modified my java.policy file to include the below, but I get the same error:
    grant codeBase "file:${{java.ext.dirs}}/*" {
            permission java.security.AllPermission;
            permission java.io.FilePermission "C:\Users\Lalo\.cisco\unity\mediamaster\mm.properties", "write";
At this point and I am stuck. Thanks in advance for reading my post and for your assistance.
    Cisco Unity Connection version: 8.6.2ES120.24901-120
    Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit
Browsers: Firefox 28.0 and IE 9
Java Version 7 Update 55 (Also tried Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.39)

I ran in to these same symptoms and have been fighting it for a while. I have not ultimately found a solution but I found the following workaround which allowed me to get my greetings uploaded until a better solution can be found. I am posting it here in case it might work for others in a pinch.
    Workaround:
Open the mediamaster applet on the appropriate page and choose to open file
browse to and select the greeting you want to upload
BEFORE clicking save, click the play button in the mediamaster (I have mine set to play via phone, I didn't test via computer). The file uploads and plays.
Then click save. For some reason, this seems to have properly uploaded the greeting without any errors.
I hope this is helpful to someone who is running in to this same frustrating error.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.5 Single Inbox - Unified Messaging?

For the Cisco Unity Connection 8.5, to enable Single inbox unified messaging do we need to get additional licensing for this feature?

    Hi Ali,
    LicIMAPSubscribersMax
Users with IMAP access to voice messages or with single inbox (single inbox available in Connection 8.5 and later only)
Sets the maximum number of users who can use:
•A third-party IMAP client to access voice messages.
•The  unified messaging feature "Synchronize Connection and Exchange  Mailboxes (Single Inbox)" on the Unified Messaging > Unified  Messaging Services page and on the Users > Users > Unified  Messaging Accounts page.
For single inbox, the total number of users in classes of service for  which single inbox is enabled must not exceed the licensed maximum. This  applies regardless of the number of users in those classes of service  who are configured to use single inbox. In addition, all users who are  configured for single inbox must be in a class of service for which  single inbox is enabled.

  • Unity Connections - can I save my voicemail message locally as a .wav file?

Is this possible and if so how?
I am running Unity Connections v7 on a CMBE system.
If I have IMAP setup, is the message attached, or is it a link?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steven

    Steven,
Yes, this is most definitely possible. If you have IMAP set up then you are using "Integrated Messaging" and your email client is configured as an IMAP client with Unity Connection as the IMAP server. You may or may not be using the ViewMail plugin for your email client. If you are using ViewMail, the default behavior is that the media control used to play the voicemail message provides the option to "save as" a WAV file. If you don't have the ViewMail control loaded, then the file is simply seen as a WAV file attachment and will be played using a desktop media play that the user has selected to play files with the .WAV attachment.

  • Unity Connection 8.5 message aging

In Unity connection 8.5, if message aging policy "Permanently Delete Messages in the Deleted Items Folder in" is set to N days, does it permanently delete the messages individually exactly N x 24 hours after the message was deleted or does Unity Connection run a purge of all messages past due to be deleted at a specific hour once a day (for example, at midnight).
In other words, if I have it set to 1 day and a message was "deleted" by a user at 1pm today, will Unity Connection purge such message at (1) 1pm tomorrow or (2) some scheduled time tomorrow after 1pm.
Thank you.  An answer will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
The Task agent runs every 30 minutes
Hence the message will be deleted  as soon as  task agent runs after 1 pm Next day.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.5 PIMG integration.

    Hello Experts
My customer has PIMG integration with Cisco Unity Connection, users can access their mailboxes after creating a direct routing rule with the search scope where this users are located to send the call to "attemp sing in" conversation this part is working fine. Now subscribers do not get the user's mailbox when reaching FNA,Busy or RNA they are going to the "welcome to Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System from a...  default greeting. Using Remote port status monitor I can not see the call coming in,but I am sure the call is getting to that server. I will like to know what traces I can enable to get the extension that is being sent by PIMG or what else I can check on the Unity connection server to resolve this issue?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Rob
I  configured the Direct Routing to send the calls to conversation "sing in" because the customer has multiple integrations and duplicated users with same extesion,  he was getting "invalid username and password" everytime they try to log in, meaning that the user was in different CSS and the existing Direct Routing Rule did not have this CSS in the Search Scope.Maybe in you case you the users were not sorted out by CSS.
I am pritty sure they are using Nortel phones, but not sure what exact version.
Thank you for your response.I will try to configure a Forward Routing rule to send the calls to and specific user'extension base on the calling number to see what happens.

  • Unity Connection 8.x and Novell GroupWise IMAP client.

    Hi,
Unity Connection 8.x clusters, the customer is using Novell Groupwise for email message store. We would like to setup GroupWise IMAP for them.
However one of the customer's restrictions is that they locked down the end-users computers so that Unity Connection message can not be downloaded into end-user's local PC.
I understand that on Unity Connection COS we can setup the option end-user can only access message header, but they have to dial-in the main-pilot number to retrieve message or use web-inbox tool.
    (1) Is there any way for us to setup the IMAP, so that end-user retrieve message while the message is still in centralized Unity Connection server?
    (2) If option (1) is not possible, can we setup the message folder of IMAP client to a network shared drive such as H, M drive instead of default local drive?
    (3) Any other solution or workaround?
    Thanks,
    JJ

  • Unity Connection 8.5(x), single inbox, and smartphones

If the customer sets up the following environment:
Unity Connection 8.5(x) WITH SECURE MESSAGING
    Single Inbox with Exchange 2010
    Customer has smartphones (blackberry, etc).
We're trying to figure out if this is set up, will the smart phones be able to play the voicemail message or not?  Based on what I see, I'm thinking they may not, but would love to hear from someone with eyes and ears back in the BU.
    Cliff

They would not be able to play the message. From the Unified Messaging Guide:
To play secure Connection voice messages in the Exchange mailbox, users must use Microsoft Outlook and Cisco Unity Connection ViewMail for Microsoft Outlook. Without ViewMail for Outlook installed, users accessing secure voice messages see only text in the body of a decoy message; the text briefly explains secure messages.
In other words, the Blackberry phones don't have ViewMail and can only see the decoy message.

  • Unity Express General Mailbox feature in Unity Connection??

                     Hello All,
Am moving a customer from CME/CUE to BE6K.
I've just run into a feature in CUE that I can't duplicate in Unity Connection.
In CUE; the customer can login (TUI) to her personal voice mailbox where she is prompted with the standard "to send a message; press 2.  You have no old messages.  for setup options 4.    to exit *.  for Help press 0."  But along with that she also hears; "to Check General mailboxes press 9"
If she presses 9; the system prompts her with the General Mailboxes she can access / check messages on.  There may be 6 General Mailboxes on the CUE; but she is only prompted with the ones she is associated with.
Pretty cool feature because she can check all of the other voicemail boxes she is responsible for from within your own personal voicemail box.
She doesn't need to remember the passwords for all of the General Mailboxes.
Is there some way to duplicate this on Unity Connection??
    thanks.

To review server status for the cluster, go to the Tools > Cluster  Management page of Cisco  Unity Connection Serviceability.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.6 problem with greeting upload

    Hello at all,
i have a realy strange Problem.
I want to upload a Greeting (*.wav-file) to a Call Handler, everything looks fine after uploading and i can also hear (Playback) the massage on the Computer and on my Phone. So i save the Config. After that i want to hear the massage after calling the Call Handler but i hear only "sorry, "CallHandlerName" is not Awailable".
If i make some checks everything looks ok, i have 2 User with sysadmin-role - both can Playback the massage via the Webpage.
But if i take the Phone and call the "Greetings Administrator" - there is no personal Greeting on this Call Handler - and thats my Problem.
If i Record a new massage with the Phone (in the Greeting Admin) it is working - after Uploading a new File (Codec is ok) i can Playback the new file but after Calling the CH, i hear the Massage which i have recordet with the Phone - not the Uploadet. But on the Webpage i hear the Uploadet file.....
    Whats wrong????
And yes, i have set this 2 Users as Call Handler Owner.
    What should i do??
Please can anyone help me in this case.....
    kind regards
    Markus
EDIT: I have also the Problem, that i can´t upload a File for a User - only the User self can Upload a Greeting, if do this with one of the 2 Admin-Accounts i hear also the System-Massage "sorry, -USERNAME- is not awailaible" and not the uploadet file - at the Webpage i hear the uploadet Massage - it seems to be the same Prob as with the CallHandler. Is it a JAVA-Problem mabye? I have Java JRE Version7 update7 installed and IE8 as Browser....
Certificate is installed, and the CUC is a trusted site......

    Hi Markus,
    It could be this bug;
CSCto92753 - Unable to upload wav files and save as greeting or send as message
    Description
    Symptom:
Unable to upload an  existing wav file, or create a new recording using the PC microphone and  save as greeting, voice name, or send as message. In the case of trying  to send as a message, the user receives a "Failed to Send Message"  error.
You might see Failed to Record Name if attempting to overwrite a Call Handler with a file.
You might also see Unable to save recording due to SSL certificate error.
    Conditions:
    Cisco Unity Connection versions 7.1(5)ES45, 8.0(3)ES27, 8.5(1)ES37
When  using either the Cisco Unity Connection Administration (CUCA) or the  Cisco Unity Connection Personal Communications Assistant (PCA) web  applications to upload an existing wav file, or create a new recording  using the PC microphone and save as a voice name, greeting, or send as a  message.
In the client side Java Console logs, you see the following exception:
Exception  in thread "Timeout guard" java.security.AccessControlException: access  denied (java.net.SocketPermission 10.93.231.234:8443 connect, resolve)
    Workaround:
In  your client side JRE security profile file....commonly named:   java.policy...add the below entry.  Will need to use the ipaddress of  the Connection server (for a cluster, put an entry for each of publisher  and subscriber).
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "10.93.237.101:8443", "connect,resolve";
If  get a permission error when trying to modify java.policy, then you may  need to set the permissions of the file to not inhearent permissions  from it's parent and not be read-only.  (aka by default the entire JRE  folder is read-only but you need to modify a file within it).

  • Unity Connections 8.5 - Mailbox Access Rights

        Hello,
Is it possible in Unity Connections 8.5 to have a mailbox setup where anyone who has the ID and PIN can access and listen to the messages but cannot delete the voicemail messages. There would be only 1-2 to users have the capability to delete the messages.  I have a request to setup an attendance dial in mailbox where it can be checked by multiple users but only a select few would have the ability to delete the messages.
    Thank You

    Hi Troy,
My friend Tony is most correct here (+5 ) The best you can
do is trick most of the users into thinking "delete" is not available.
These settings are only exposed when using the Custom Keymapping Tool
in CUC, so you won't see them on your default conversation. Let's say
you are using the Classic Conversation for your users. You can go to the
Custom Keymapping Tool from cucadmin and say select Custom Keymapping #3
when it comes up you would, first off, reset the mapping on all tabs to Classic Conversation
this would then replicate your existing setup. Then go to the After Message menu page and map
some key # to "message delete" I used 17 in my tests here. Then you would also uncheck the
"option is voiced in menu" checkbox so the users that you apply this keymapping to would not
be offered the delete message option.
The next step is to assign the new Custom Keymapping #3 conversation to the
    required Mailbox via user>xxxx>Phone menu>Conversation>Custom Keymapping #3
    and apply.
You would also set Phone menu>Conversation>Custom Keymapping #3 in the User template
area so special "restricted" mailboxes that are created can use this conversation as well
In my tests here the only thing different than this example is that we use the Optional Conversation 1
so I reset the mapping on all tabs to Optional Conversation 1 when going through the steps above.
    This worked like a charm.
    Cheers!
