Update fails to update after sub-queries
Hello,
I am trying to run a script which below which will query the product table and then update the sales_info table with the correct ca_product_con description (instead of a code). The problem is I get now rows updated. Can anyone explain whats happening?

ColdFusion 8 Fails to start after update Java for Mac OSX 10.5 Update 4
I have been using ColdFusion on a Mac for years. Now CF fails to start after I updated Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4. I usually start by typing in the terminal window sudo /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin/ColdFusion start.
There is a crash report but I don't know how to read it. See attached.
Please help, I need this working for my job.

I had moved the Java SE 6 to the top in both Plugin and Applications. The
correct version is showing in the terminal window. See below.

CF will not start. I have the activity monitor open, and when I start CF you
see it in the activity monitor for a few seconds as it starts up. When the
message process is completed in the terminal window CF disappears in the
activity monitor.
Any suggestions?

My apologies but I forgot to ask 2 questions: (1) What kind of Mac you have
(Intel or PowerPC)? (2) What version of CF are you running and what installer
did you choose (8 or 8.0.1, 32-bit, 64-bit, etc.)?
To start, try the following:
1. Normally you'd shut CF down first ... but that's not necessary for you
2. Open Java Preferences again
3. Select Java SE 6 and move it (drag) to the top spot in both section (Applet
Plugin and Applications)
4. Open Terminal
5. Type java -version (you should see 1.6.0_13 as the new version)
6. Try to start CF again
This may not work (I've had issues with it) but it's technically how it's
supposed to work. With the Java Preferences utility, you're visually setting a
default JVM (you can do it with commands in Terminal but this is much faster
and easier).
If CF still won't start, look for the jvm.config file in your CF application
folder (try /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin or
/Applications/ColdFusion8/runtime/bin -- the latter is where a jvm.config file
is on my machine for a particular version of CF that's installed similar to
yours). You can override the JVM in this file but, hopefully, that won't be
necessary!

Acrobat 8.1 fails to open after automatic update
I installed CS3 a month ago and everything worked well until last week after an automatic update to Acrobat was installed. Since then, whenever I try to open Acrobat, I get the windows error "Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close..." I tried to download and install the latest update but that didn't fix the problem.
Also, I tried to report it to Adobe online but never got a response and now I can't find where I reported it to see what the status is.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Still failing to launch after repairing permissions and restart.

Acrobat fails to open after software update (end of March 2012) in Lion
When opening a PDF in Acrobat x Pro the programme crashes, ever since I did a software update at the end of March 2012.
I have also been having problems with emailing PDFs, with emails disappearing or getting corrupted.
Seems worse if I have Firefox open at the same time.Still failing to launch after repairing permissions and restart.

All applications in iWork fail to open after installing latest apple update. iMac running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Have tried reinstalling from iWork disc but no improvement. Help!

I'm transferring the iWorks applications from my Macbook Pro 3,1 with Lion to a new MBP 10,1 running Mountain Lion. I transferred the apps over using DropCopy since the older MBP doesn't have AirPlay. Applications show up but crash upon opening. This is the first install so there are no previous plist, versions or such to delete. All three crashed upon opening every time until I just had to have Keynote and purchased again - although Apple agreed to refund that purchase since my previous version quit working. It’s version 13.1.1 It’s a trial version.
I am updating it from the Creative cloud desktop application.
I have the photography subscription with Lightroom and Photoshop with Creative Cloud.
I was interested in trying out the video software and have trials of Premiere Pro as well as others. The CC desktop app alerted me to the AF update just as it does for the others I subscribe to plus the ones I am using as trials. I have not had any problems with the other apps (trial or not), only with AF.

Microsoft Office Apps fail to work after 10.6.7 update
Has anyone else's office apps failed to open after installing the OS update?
This is a brand new iMac only 5 days old using office 2011 with current updates.

Mike.After doing some Internet research and speaking with a second-level Apple tech, together we came up with the following solution.
Shut down, then start in safe-mode (hold shift key while re-starting). This will clear the font cache and re-build it. After doing this, when I started Word 2004 it took some time, but it showed the following fonts as corrupt: APC Courier, Bastion, Chicago TU, Courier TU, Latinski - and indicated they should be removed. Word then started up even though I just clicked OK to those messages and didn't remove them. I then re-started Word and it came up normally even though those fonts are still in the font book. By the way, I have downloaded the freeware app "Fontnuke-1.17," but haven't used it yet. There is a shareware app, "Fontfinagler," which may also be useful if safe mode doesn't work for you.

My imovie 11 is now failing to start after 10.6.5 update, I reinstalled ilife and it's still failing.
Same issue for iphoto .

Benoithelp help help. imovie 11 works fine until i populate iphoto with any photos what so ever then it just fails to kick off after looking for new video from iphoto. works fine again when i delete the iphoto libary but i don,t want to do this each time i want to use imovie.....very disapointed

Photoshop fails to launch after software update
Photoshop fails to launch after the most recent software update. I am running 10.5.5 on a black macbook. It fails to launch every time. I have activated it with the key code, but never registered. What do I need to do to fix this?

Adobe position on PS CS2 is that it is not compatible with Leopard. They say they have no plans to fix it either. According to them the only versions that are compatible with Leopard are CS3 and CS4.
I some people say they don't have any problems using PS CS2 with Leopard but it doesn't appear this is true for everyone.

JWS Desktop shortcut fails to update after JNLP change in 1.6.0 update 18
Has anyone else noticed the desktop shortcut fail to update after a change to the JNLP with the latest Java 1.6.0 update 18 release?
Here are the steps we've found to replicate the issue on Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 using both IE and Firefox:
1) Download a JWS application and allow the desktop link to be created
2) Inspect the desktop shortcut and notice the path to the JNLP cache entry
3) Modify the JNLP at the server
4) Run the application via the desktop link - at this point the application will download updates and execute without issues.
5) Close the application - upon close, JWS will remove the old JNLP cache entry if the JNLP contained the security/all-permissions directive
6) Inspect the desktop shortcut again - notice that the path to the JNLP cache entry will remain unchanged
7) Launch the application again using the desktop link - JWS will fail with a cache exception if the JNLP contained the security/all-permissions element or will just run from the old JNLP
I've submitted a bug but just wanted to confirm that others are encountering the same issue.

This issue seems to continually creep into the Java releases. In the 1.6.0 releases, the issue is resolved in update 7 through update 11. Update 12, 13, and 14 all had various JNLP issues but I did find this specific issue with update 14. It was fixed again in update 15 and remained fixed through update 17.
I submitted two bugs and provided a simple sample application on our production site to use for testing with a url to update the last modified time. If bug is accepted, I'll post it here for others to vote for a fix. -
Updating Adobe Community Help files fails every time after starting
Hello,
I e.g. go to «Support Center for Photoshop» from the menu within the app. Adobe Community Help starts up and tells me theres new content, do I want to download that. It seems to start the dl just fine, then reports an error «16882» (if I'm remembering it right).
Why? We have very fast very broadband internet connection and I use a 2011 27" iMac with max Gig RAM installed.
Any hints there would be appreciated.

Seems Adobe Air or Cummunity help has gone cprrupt. Lets follow the below suggestions:
Step 1: Uninstall adobe air from Utilities and re-install the latest adobe AIR from "http://get.adobe.com/air/otherversions/"
Step 2: Follow "http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/842/cpsid_84215.html" and re-install the Community Help Air application.
Step 3: Restart the machine and launch adobe Community Help and try to install all the updates and check if it works fine.

Update after 2 months breaks my squirrelmail / imap authentication
Ok, updated after 2 months, normally expecting some issues, but nothing this bad.
Squirrelmail is used for remote hosts to access my server mail over internet.
This update broke authdaemon I think.
Here's output of authtest:

Which is the same output as in my errors.log when a client tries to access imap.
How do I turn verbosity up to get more useful output?

Forced REINSTALL of courier-authlib fixed it. WHY WOULD IT DO THAT?
That was part of the update I believe, but why would it bork the install on a basic update?

I hacked the script a bit, now it's working properly:
At the top, insert a line
AUTO_AUTHDAEMON="false"
Change the first if-clause to read:

and do the same for the second if-clause containing $AUTO_AUTHDAEMON.
That's it.

Will they ever give me an update after 24 hours
I put my order 24th July, they gave me an estimate date on 12th, Aug for activation. but nothing happened on 12th, Aug. So I phoned BT customer service, they helped to have a check and said there was some issue with Exchange and they would work on it, then they asked me to call back after 24hours.
I called them today, a not very friendly customer service staff asked me to explain all the story, and she said, I will have a check, just after one minute, she told me, sorry, we have some problem with the system and we couldn't give you any update unitl Monday, it's just the date they will give me an update.
My doubt is whether they can give me an update then, they don't even send out an email to tell you what happend, everything you need to find out yourself and wait for 10 to 20 mins to get the perfect anwser. "we will give you an update after 24 hours"

Cannot update After Effects CC
Hello Comunity,
I have a problem updating After Effects CC.
The system show me
"You can’t use this version of the application “Adobe After Effects CC” with this version of OS X
You have “Adobe After Effects CC” 12.0"
I've tried to download and install the updated software - AfterEffectsTrial-12.0.1-mul-AdobeUpdate.dmg
but the system show me:
"Update Failed
Updates could not be applied
Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator.
If the problem persist, contact customer support for further assistance."

Whoever distributed your software (your company, your school,...) chose to disable updates for this software package. You need to take this issue up with them and get them to enable updates. There's nothing that any of us can do to override that decison made by whoever in your organization chose to disable updates.
