Upgrade causes constant reboot

Has anyone else had their iPhone go into a constant reboot cycle after the OS upgrade? I've been watching the Apple logo flash on/off for the past hour. Hard reset doesn't work. Any ideas of how to get it to boot?

Mate it might be because the software hasnt actually become live yet, :/, You might have got a version that slipped through the server, Sometimes happens, It should fix when the full software is released, If not Go to your apple store

  • Constant reboot after IOS4 upgrade Solved!

I too was having the dreaded error 29 code and stuck in recovery mode along with the 5 minute constant reboot since upgrading to IOS4 two days ago. I had to use Blackra1n to get it out of recovery. Blackra1n will NOT jailbreak IOS4 but will fix the stuck recovery mode problem. I also had previously replaced the battery with a higher capacity mAh. the upgrade to v3.1.3 went perfect. Only when I upgraded to IOS4 did things change. It would constantly reboot and the battery was slowly draining and would not recharge. I poured through countless forum posts and tried most all of them. Then this evening I found a post somewhere in this forum about possibly the battery was causing the problem. So I got out my tools and put the original battery back in and booted up. It got to the front screen and immediately a bunch of old calendar events started popping up which was different than before. I cleared them all and I have now had my iphone on steady for over an hour and not one reboot. Battery is also now recharging off my laptop.
So long story short, if you've replaced your battery at some point, put it back in or hopefully an OEM with same APN: 616-0434 (#for my iPhone). Everything is now working in IOS4!
Good battery replacement guide here: http://www.rapidrepair.com/guides/iphone-3g-s-repair/iphone-3g-s-dissasembly-rep air-guide.html

    Booted into Faunos Live system.
As root, ran Fsck on the HDD with inode problem.  Answered yes to all system repair queries.
Rebooted into archlinux HDD with no problems.

  • HELP!!! MBA will not boot. It's in a constant "reboot loop!"

Hi! I was having issues with my MBA and it's well known problem with getting a bit hot and shutting down the core etc. One post mentioned coolbook. Several peole gave it the thumbs up so I decided to give it a try. Installed it and was asked to restart. Now my MBA is in a constant reboot loop and will not start-up. it gets as far as the gray screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel. Then about a minute or so later it reboots. And this goes on and on forever. The MBA is now insanely hot and I have turned the MBA off not to cause any damage.
I can not boot in safe mode.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!!

thanks for the views, but seems nobody wanted to help. cheers for that!
i managed to reboot using the OS X DVD and reinstalling. Now I have an eject symbol in my system bar top right corner and my superdrive will not "eject". this means I can not use the USB for anything else. meanwhile I ejected the OS X DVD from the drive and tried to reinsert it. NADA.
Getting to the point where I am fed up with the MBA. It gets so hot I could fry an egg on it. The system must be running something in the background, becasue even with a new install it still is slow and stutters (and no, I did not start you tube!) either this is from a real crappy batch, or I looked at it the wrong way.
Looks like I am heading back to the MBpro.

  • Constant reboots on my iMac (early 2009) with Mountain Lion. Why?

I know there are a number of threads here speaking of similar problems, I've tried the steps mentioned there...to no avail.
I have an early 2009 iMac with a 24" display, 3.06 Ghz Core2 Duo. Memory has been upgraded to 8 GB.
The problem is: Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I get constant reboots, sometimes I can't even have the machine running for more than 30 minutes without it starting again. This is making it impossible for me to work. I've posted the last panic report at the end of this message. What I've noticed so far in all the panic messages is that the last loaded or unloaded extensions are always the same ones, no matter if my machine is restarting after 30 seconds or 4 hours. Could that be something helpful?

So it's ALWAYS either a file system extension or the USBCDC one. Always. Is that useless info or can I do some further testing in a specific direction here?
I've done the Apple Hardware Test in a loop for more than 8 hours without any problems, I've done a memtest in terminal without any problems. I've bootet in safe mode and still got a reboot. I've disconnected all external stuff (only using a Cintiq, a DAC with speakers and keyboard/mouse anyway)
Can anybody give me any more tips? Oh, and I've reinstalled Mountain Lion (clean install from recovery partition) a few times already. No change in behavior.

Update: It just happened again, this time while doing a backup with Time Machine. Could it be my Keyboard?
I'm not using a Bluetooth keyboard, but one with a USB connection. Sometimes I'm connecting my backup drive to it, but reboots also happen without anything connected to the keyboard.
This time there's even backtrace info:

  • Clean XP SP3, Boot Camp 2.1, Everquest II causes spontaneous reboot

    Hello all,
I have a small Boot Camp partition that has XP and Everquest II on it with an October 2006 MacBook Pro C2D (FW800, ATI graphics). That's its sole purpose for existing. Unfortunately, the computer spontaneously reboots a short time after starting the EQ2 client.
I just did a completely clean Windows XP SP3 install (using MSDN XP SP3 32-bit Professional), installed Boot Camp 2.0 and Apple Updated to 2.1, and Windows Updated about a dozen items. I ran the EQ2 client and again, after about 3-4 minutes, the computer reboots.
I would love to get this thing to run reliably. I only use it a few times a year (when traveling overnight, etc.) but it is a great way to while away the time. I would welcome any suggestions, please.
(I tried a Vista 64-bit install but that didn't seem to have many Boot Camp drivers, and I couldn't get the wireless or several other things running.)
    Cheers!

I have the same exact model MBP as you, and from research on the internet all others with the same problem have the same aswell. I honestly believe there is an issue with the ATI graphics on the MBP C2D Merom laptops and EverQuest. I doubt a hardware issue but most likely a driver issue. At one point I used to run EQ2 fine. But, for the past year or so I have had constant reboots when I enter the game.
My most recent attempt actually was ok for the first few minutes but the moment I began to cast a spell it locked and rebooted. I thought it was just EQ2 and the drivers but I also tested EQ1 and I can play that game fine all day long with only one problem. When it starts to rain in the game that results in an automatic lock and reboot otherwise fine. Since you cant turn off the rain that result is not good either. I have not had issues with any other game...LOTRO, EVE, QuakeWars....etc...
A friend who has had several nvidia based mbp's has yet to have one reboot.
I have tried every single driver version I can find and none seem to work. I hope to one day play EQ2 again but, not going to go out of upgrade cycle and buy a new MBP with Nvidia graphics just for that...
Sorry to say I dont have a fix for you but letting you know you are not alone...I and others have the same issue with the same model as you but no fix in sight

  • Constant rebooting, help please!

    Constant rebooting, help please!
Since suddenly yesterday, my computer reboots itself always
during the Windows XP start-up, right before it should
display "Welcome" (Choose user profile) screen. This started
yesterday when I was just surfing the net and listening to
some mp3s, I hadn't installed anything new for a while.
Now I can't get the system running even in safe mode, nor does
System restore help. After the progress bar of Windows XP
Home Edition, the machine just beeps and reboots.
There seems to be no heat problem (specs below), because I
can get to the bios settings by pressing Del, and I can
browse them as long as I want.
I am pretty sure that there are no viruses, my McAfee
updates itself very often. I have a ZoneAlarm firewall to
    protect agains hacking.
I've had some reboots earlier, maybe twice a week. This
began after I changed my processor to AMD Athlon XP 3000+.
But now something made my setup completely unstable.
I know I don't have the latest bios drivers, the old ones
did not work (had to use System Restore to get the PC
running after installing them, but I didn't have a chance to
install the latest ones before this catastrophe happened).
Should I do a repair install of WinXP using the install cd?
What should I do, and what might be causing the problem? Any
help is greatly appreciated. Specs are below:

    Hello.
You motherboard does not support an XP3000+ unless you have BIOS 1.8.
Do you have any BIOS updates? I recommend the latest one.

You mean CHIPSET drivers, VIA 4in1? BIOS is not part of OS
The AMD XP3000+ CPU that you have, is it the 333Mhz FSB version or the 400Mhz FSB version?
You board does not support the 400Mhz FSB version.
You RAM, are they the same make and model
Are they both PC2700 or PC3200?
Have you tried 1 stick at a time?

    See this tip --> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
If this doesn't resolve it you most likely have a hardware failure. Fortunately, your phone is in warranty, so if you take it to an Apple store they will replace it.

  • My iPad 2 is in a state of constant reboot! Help!

My iPad 2 is currently in a state of constant reboot - cycling continually between the Apple icon and the "waiting" icon (wheel of death, as I've seen it referred to).  It cannot be interrupted, and keeps going for hours until it runs out of battery.
I've tried the hardware reset a few times, which interrupts the cycle, and brings up the Apple icon, but then it just immediately retuns to it's previous state of constant reboot.
I've tried connecting it to iTunes. iTunes recognises it but says I have to unlock it with my unlock key. I cannot do this because it is not possible to interrupt the reboot sequence to get the input panel.
It is not jailbroken, and I'm happy to have it restored from scratch.
I am in China temporarily, and my iPad has become quite a lifeline for me, and am devastated that it's stopped working.
I can take it to the Apple Store here, but would prefer to fix this from home.  However, I also don't want to mess this up such that the Apple store folks think I've tried to Jailbreak the iPad, because that definitely is not my intention!
    Any thoughts/hints/tips?
    Thanks.

Restore seems to be the best option. Have you tried a hard reset ?

  • Startup Reboot or the constant reboot of Death!

If you have upgraded to IOS7 and find that your device, iPhone, iPad, etc randomly goes into a reboot cycle you may have more than one i device on the same account.
I've been struggling with this for the past two months starting with iOS7.0 and then with 7.03.  I have an iPhone 5 and iPad 3.  Origionally I had updated my iPhone to iOS7 when it came out and things seemed to work fine for about four days.  Then one night the phone started rebooting over and over. I called apple support.  Reinstalled, cleanly installed, low level installed everything on my phone 6 times but the reboot issue kept occuring.  I had the phone replaced at an Apple store.  The tech at the store could not get anything from the crash logs because the reboot was a crash of the OS itself with no other app related information.  The phone was replaced with an iOS6 model and I left it that way figuring that iOS7.0 was not ready for prime time so I would wait.
I waited until 7.03 came out to try again.  I should mention that I had no issues at all while on 6.  Four and half days after the update the reboots started again.  I called apple again and went through the same process as before.  keep in mind when you phone is replaced you only get a 90 day warranty.  I was 7 months into a new phone so I was lucky the first time but by now I needed to pay for an apple care plan just because we could not find the problem and I was pretty sure I would be calling them again.
After about a week of stability I decided to upgrade my iPad.  Guess what, four days later the same thing started happening.  BUT it turns out that the reboot happens to both devices at the same time when it happens.  While the iPad was on iOS6 it would not reboot but when I upgraded it the reboot cycle takes place at the same time as the iPhone.  You can't stop the cycle without getting both devices shut down.  I called apple support and we disabled iCloud and AirDrop thinking it might be some kind of conflict.  That did not solve the problem.  I called Apple care again and now this has been pushed up to development.
The one thing I did get out of this is that you can break the cycle without having to reload your phone.  Both devices have to be powered off by holding the power and home keys at the same time.  Once the screen goes fully black release the home key and then the power.  Leave the devices off for 20 minutes and then start it up by plugging in the sync cable to the computer you normally sync on.  The device will load slowly and then work normally again.  As long as one of the devices remains off the problem does not reoccure.
I have not tried to create a new apple account for the iPad becasuue I don't want to buy all the software again and I have yet to hear back from Apple about this case.  If I don't get a response before the end of the year then I will probably try to get both devices replaced with iOS6 devices.  I find it hard to believe that Apple released this OS.

Restore again in DFU Mode, write down the Error Code if any so you can look it up.
DFU Mode means iPhone in Recovery Mode with Black Screen (no iTunes Logo).

  • Macbook constant reboot cycle

I own a 2ghz Macbook with 2gb ram and am running Mac OS X 10.5.2.
I have performed all the latest software updates but now my Macbook is stuck in a cycle of booting, getting to the grey screen with the apple, churning for a few minutes then rebooting. It continues to do this and never reaches the OS.
I've found if I boot from the Leopard DVD, cancel the install and reboot from the menu it boots properly and as long as I sleep it, it will work correctly. But if I reboot or shutdown and start again I get stuck in the constant reboot cycle again.
    Any ideas?

A.E.S.'s suggestion is definitely the first thing to try. If Disk Utility does not resolve your issue and reports no underlying disk errors or is able to repair whatever disk errors it finds, try an Archive and Install. If Disk Utility reports underlying disk errors that it's unable to repair, you'll probably have to do an Erase and Install. Also, be sure to back up all important information before doing the Erase and Install.
