Upgrading my extra site license to Logic 7?

I have 2 licenses for Logic 6 Plat that I'd like to upgrade to 7 Pro. I seem to recall previous upgrades to my additional license being lower cost through eMagic as it was considered a site license. I called the Apple Store sales line and they were pretty sure I had to pay $299 per system, but advised that I post the question here because they couldn't be certain.
Anybody had any experience with upgrading their additional license?

    I am a professor at a college of music in Chiang Mai, Thailand teaching an audio recording class. We have a Mac lab of 13 computers and want to load Logic Studio on these computers. I cannot find anywhere in Thailand (even the Apple Store in Chiang Mai) how to get the software with site licenses for the 13 computers. Can anyone help me with this? It is very clear in the USA but the lines are very, very gray here in Thailand.

    I've been told that "daisy-chaining" firewire is the way to go. Could I use some kind of a fire wire-hub instead?
    I need to have both connected simultaneously since I'm recording onto the external drive.
    I will unplug the WD and give it a try, but really, that's just solving a problem by creating another one...

  • Office or Creative Suite with site licensing on Lion Server

    Can Office or Creative Suite with site licensing reside on a mac mini server for the network to use or do the applications need to be on each computer in the network?

    The big software makers constantly winge about customers must ensure they are legal regarding software licensing. However they not only don't make this easy, they actually go out of their way to make it hard in terms of purchasing, license management and auditing. We will ignore the separate issue of some of them actively ripping customers off over pricing (I am looking at you Adobe).
    I can say that it was technically possible with Office 2004 for Mac to install a single volume-license version of Office on a server and run it sumultaneously on multiple client logins. I have not had the opportunity to try this with Office 2012 for Mac.
    Note: I had more than enough individual Office 2004 licenses to cover the number of clients when I did this.
    Another approach to investigate is the use of KeyServer from Sassafras Software. This can take a standard version of an application and wrap it with extra license management code. The KeyServer software then controls how many simultaneous copies can be run, you can even book copies out for use on a laptop you are taking out of the office. The booking would be for a fixed time limit after which it is released and no longer works until you contact the license server again.

    I believe in the past and maybe still now, that Sassafras worked with the major software developers to enable this. I don't know whether Adobe, Microsoft, etc. are still enabling this or whether they have continued to show their stupidity by stopping this and making license management even harder. I suggest you contact Sassafras to discuss this.
    Note: Even though FileMaker has serial numbers and user licenses, it is possible to easily manage things using a single serial key as FileMaker let you buy a volume license key and you are simply allowed to run up to a that specific number of simultaneous copies, there is none of the stupid hassle of product activation etc. linked to individual hardware devices.

    What version of Crystal Enterprise do you have? Most are now past their end of life. CE is labelled as Business Objects Enterprise now. CE would be version 8, 9 or 10.
    To develop using RAS you can upgrade to Crystal Reports XI R2 SP2 Developer Edition and then you will be able to use inProc RAS. Developer is the only version you would be licensed to use RAS and have the runtime packages to develop in. Or you can move to Crystal Reports 2008 which is the lastest version and also be able to use Inproc RAS. If you plan on use Enterprise then you should discuss this with a sales consultant to purchase and set up an account, it's required for support.
    If you don't have the CD any more it's likely you don't have the Developer version or they would be on your PC so you would not be licensed to develop using RAS.
    I suggest you talk to Sales again and purchase an upgrade package if it's available.

    how large are your site collections and content databases?
    sounds to me like you're WELL past the recommendations, which could certainly cause such an impact.

    How much does it cost for a site license for Final Cut Pro X and Mac Caption?  I need to have one computer going for production and one for training someone.  Is there 501C-3 pricing available?

    FCP X can be used on as many Macs as you own.  Be sure each is logged in to your iTunes/App Store account.  So for two Macs that you own, you can download to both, only pay for one.
    There is a bulk license deal for it, but you'd need to be running 10+ Macs before you'd get any discount or anything.
    Mac Caption is an issue you'll have to take up with them.

    My website URL is, http://mysite.verizon.net/eboggess. My site is "eboggess." When I publish my "site" to my ftp server at Verizon, I get the following directory structure, which includes an extra "site" directory (eboggess): http://mysite.verizon.net/eboggess/eboggess/Welcome.html. I want to get rid of the extra eboggess directory. Is there a way to publish just the contents of my "site" directory to the Verizon ftp server, so that I have a sensible web root? Thanks.

    The url he gives people for his site should just be domain.tld/username, right?
    As for what appears in the browser address bar, I always wonder why that matters to anyone, but the way iWeb works, complete iWeb sites always show the site name. iWeb's ftp does not have an option to upload incomplete sites. If you want to get rid of the site name, you must manually change the site structure either before or after uploading. If you do that, any RSS subscribe links will not work. Another option may be to forward www.domain.com to www.domain.com/sitename.

  • CS6, Adobe ID, and Site License

    I searched everywhere for the answer but nobody seemed to have a solution. We just downloaded CS6 Master Collection and getting the instructions together. It looks like you need to now put a Adobe ID in for part of the activation process. We have a site license of 500 and we install the software on every computer in the building. We put the software on a image and copy the image to the computers. Most of these computers have multiple users during the day since they are used by students. Is there a way to get around the Adobe ID for a site license? We do not want students having access to that adobe account and there is a chance they will spam the email address used. Any thoughts on what we can do about the Adobe ID part?

    Is it possible to upgrade a single user license for iWork 09 to a family pack? Sorry for posting here, there is no forum under iWork it seems. Thanks for any help.

    Check your licence agreement. If it doesn't prohibit transferring the (single user) licence, then it would seem reasonable to assume you can do so. Being neither a lawyer nor an Apple representative, my advice remains the same as before: This might be a question best answered at an Apple Store or another authorized reseller.

    Apple's online HPC deployment guide (for MacOSX 10.4+) assumes the use of a single MacOSX Server site license for the configuration of all of the machines in a computational cluster. In the event that one is using a fixed number of individual Server licenses to configure the machines in the cluster, how should one go about setting up the LDAP records for the computing nodes (as described on p. 47 of said guide)? The guide indicates that the LDAP record should have a record name set to "generic"; if one must create uniquely named separate records for each license, will the server autoconfiguration mechanism work properly? (I have tried the latter without success and am attempting to determine whether the failure is due to the record name or some other configuration problem on the head node.)

    Can someone who has gone the site license route or an Adobe employee help me please.
    I run a computer lab at a K-12 with under 20 employees and only 17-26 computers. I am looking into CC for volume licensing but am SOOOOO confused with the pricing. I was on the phone with an education reseller and received a quote but my school tech is saying it is wrong and they won't buy the service! I was told it goes by employees not computers and the tech is saying it goes by students. The difference in cost is several thousand dollars so I want to be sure I have it right. I was quoted for a year 1400 for a school with 20 FTE employee for use on unlimited computers. My tech is telling me we would have to order 130 units where as the sales rep at the reseller told me only 20.
