Upon upgrading to 5.0.1, firefox asked to restart my system to finalize the upgrade. I've restarted 4 or 5 times, and when I try to launch Firefox, I am still told I need to restart my system. What is causing this issue?
Firefox has been running fine until this upgrade, but now I cannot lauch the client at all because it forces me to restart my machine.
Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
sudo nvram boot-args=""
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.

I can install the application although it will not launch. I get the firefox logo before it returns to the application screen. When I check to see if it is running it is not listed.

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"

I have an iphone 3g I tried to down load an app for netflix and it said I need to have ISO 5 but my phone has ISO 4.2.1 and when I try to update it on my computer through itunes I get message saying I have current version how or what can I do do to get an app the lets me watch netflix on my iphone 3g .Is there an sulision to my problem? I have a MacBook Pro. When surfing the web it will eventually slow to a crawl. When this occurs, there will be a small multi-colored wheel spinning until my latest command is handled. What is causing this and is there a way that I can modify or prevent this from happening? Is there a setting that will prevent this?

thnxI'm not sure about your question, it's seems somewhat unclear, but if the above command doesn't work another you can try is using the diskutil command as follows:
"diskutil list"
or
"df -h"
(without "" quotes)
find where the cd is (usually /dev/disk1 but not always depending on what else you have pluged in)
then simply use the 'diskutil' command with the 'eject' argument specifying the device found from the previous command '/dev/disk1'(or what ever your optical is labeled as).
If this isn't your question, I have a macbook unibody late 2009 model and the strangest thing happends, If I downgrade to 10.6.1 my optical drive works fine anything 10.6.8 and above ejects my disk immediately, I have also tested my optical drive out on other OS's such as various linux distro's. Therefore I have come to the conclusion its a bug. - just food for thought. Hope some of this helps -

Thank you.It's referring to another application that is running on your PC. Temporarily disable any A/V software you have running on the system and try to restore it again. Make sure you don't have any other software/programs on your PC that could be scanning or interfering with the restore process.

When I try to launch Firefox I am told it is already running
I get this error message: Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system. When I go to task manager/applications tab, nothing shows up, but when I go to task manager/processes tab, sure enough, it does look like it is running already. I went to msconfig and it does not appear that firefox is one of my startup jobs.
During shutdown, laptop has to do a forced shutdown sometimes because it says a job is still running (though I can not see one doing so). Again I go to task manager processes and there is Firefox, running invisibly again. What is up with this and how to I correct it?He's not registered with iMessage.
He either does not have an Apple device or has not signed up for the service.
iMessage only works with other apple devices.

I am trying to log into a web based system, called Mortgage Coach from my laptop, in order for me to log onto Mortgage coach a message says that I need to download Adobe flash 11.1. Adobe cannot be installed until Mozilla is closed. I do not know how to close Firefox so that I can do the Adobe download and then reopen again to have Firefox. Help!
After the file is downloaded, you begin the installation. When the installation starts, bring Firefox down with "Alt+F" (File) > Quit that is the proper way to bring Firefox down.
If Firefox is still running after a few minutes then take firefox.exe down from the Windows Task Manager, from the "Processes" Tab. Also you might want to take down the plugin-container.exe as well. -
For the past few weeks my computer will slow down when I have been on Safari for awhile, then freeze, and then just go black. I have to press the power button and then it goes to a black screen with the apple logo and a loading bar underneath when it reboots. I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but on my previous mac it would have an error message if something like this happened that I could submit. Any suggestions of where to start to solve this issue?

Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the BOOT_TIME log message that corresponds to the last boot time when you had the problem. Now clear the search box to reveal all messages. Select the ones logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Step 2
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful. -
I had purchased this app in the past and now when I try to redownload this app again it turns out they changed their name and so now itunes is asking me to pay again for downloading the app again.
Have you tried booting from the Recovery HD to reinstall Lion?
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
You will need the Apple ID and password used to purchase Lion. If you have not purchased Lion, then you will need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard then update it to 10.6.8 to access the App Store where you can purchase and download Lion under your own Apple ID. Or you can purchase the Apple USB Lion installer flash drive at any local Apple retailer or the Online Store.
