US purchased extreme in Europe?

Just bought Airport Extreme and while using the AirPort Utility to set it up noticed that countries listed are exclusively American ones. This got me a bit worried about the settings of these devices, is their something that will prevent use of US purchased Extreme in Europe? This did not even come to my mind when I bought it. Thanks in advance for all replies.

Base Stations designed for use in North America transmit channels 1-11. In Europe, they use channels 1-13. If you take one designed for use in North America, to Europe, you won't have a problem because all wireless computers designed for the European market will be able to "see" all channels it is capable of transmitting.

Prior to purchasing Airport Extreme had a standard modem/ wireless router from ATT for DSL. I have two macbooks both dropped connections while online with older modem.
Airport Extreme purchased to correct connection issues I need help with set up. The older modem just used telephone cord. I tried to use telephone with extreme it did not work.
How do I get extreme to work as the modem and router ?

you can't. the extreme is only a router. you need a separate modem (or disable the wireless part of your old router and use it as a modem - if that's possible).

  • Using my US purchased printer in Europe ... ?

    Hello all-
I have a HP Color Laserjet CP2025n that I bought a while back, and it works great. So much so that I elected to take it with me when I moved to Spain this past summer. Before moving, I checked on the HP website and noticed that the specs claim this model will work with both 110 and 220v power sources. (See specs here: http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/printer/LaserJet/1/storefronts/CB494A%2523ABA - Select the "Specs" tab and then scroll down the page and select "PDF Version of all Specs".)
However, I am here now trying to hook up the printer and getting nowhere. Won't even power up, and the back of the printer itself only says that it will handle 120-127v of power. Did I just get hoodwinked? Is there some kind of switch I need to flip to make this work?
    Welcome any responses...

Bumping this thread up and hoping that one of the HP Experts will take a look.
After a bunch more investigation, I discovered that HP printers like my LJ CP2025n are not 110 - 240v compatible. Instead, there is a US model that runs on the 110 - 120v range, and a seperate Europen model that runs on the 200 -240v. So for someone like myself that has just moved from the States to Europe, it's frustrating that I have to buy either a voltage converter or a new printer.
As a technologist, I would be interested to know why HP can't just make their printers 110 - 240v compatible to buffer for this problem, or at least provide a physical switch to alter the voltage handling like a lot of desktop computers (Dell) have. I mean, if Apple can make their smallest iPod adapters 110 - 240v compatible, then what is the technological barrier to making a printer work the same way?

    Yes.

So does the Apple TV. You only need a power plug adaptor.

  • US purchased Macbook in Europe not connecting to my wifi

i have a brand new macbook purchased in the usa. i live in switzerland. wireless worked fine in the states. it does not read that my wifi network exists. it sees two external wifi networks (secured) that i do not have access to.
i also have a mac mini which reads my network fine. it was purchased here.
i have read a few posts about wifi card problems between countries with this model.

    hi michael,
    thanks much. it works now.
the base was set to automatic (channel 13).
i rebooted the airport express base station. i had done that before. however this time i also unplugged my wireless landlandline phone base station. that seems to have done the job.
i think channel 13 is one of those european channels not available on a n. american wireless card.
works fine now. thanks for your help.

  • Just purchased extreme card and have problems

    Hi all,
I have two computers, one a MBP and one an old iMac (17" flatpanel), I love connecting to the net on my MBP using the built in Airport, so I decided to get one for my old iMac. I have just installed it and it doesn't seem as straightforward as on MBP, it just doesn't seem to detect a connection, I have even tried manually copying the DHCP settings from my MBP, without any joy, is there something I am missing. Do I need to first connect the iMac via ethernet to the modem?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The antenna connection to an AirPort Extreme card can trick you into thinking it is installed properly. Use the photos in KB 108039, Properly attaching the antenna on an AirPort Extreme Card to verify that the antenna wire is indeed installed correctly.

  • ITunes Store Purchases Extremely Slow

When I download a new song, or a podcast, from iTunes I have to deal with excrutiatingly slow download speeds.
What seems to be happening is that a song will start to download for close to 1/3 of a second at about 2 or 3 MB/s for that short period of time, then get completely hung up for several minutes. To keep from getting -35 errors I have to constantly pause and resume my downloads to get them to complete without timing out.
I'm using version 7.6.1 and have heard of several issues with this version, but none that really match up with my problem. I've also read about issues with Time Warner limiting bandwidth, but that can't be my problem as I live in Canada so they are not my ISP.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Why can't I buy an In-APP purchase? It says that I can not connect to the iTunes Store and that I will have to contact iTunes Store Support.

    Hey everyone
With my iPhone 4S I purchased the NAVIGON Europe App, downloaded needed files and maps within the App and all worked fine. But when I try to buy certain add-ons via In-App purchase I get a window telling me that it can'T connect to the iTunes store and that I have to contact iTunes store support.
This is what I have already tried to make it work:
Reset my iphone via iTunes (set it up as new iPhone)
Changed itunes store payment option from Click&Buy to credit card
    restarted iPhone several times
    scratched my head
checked restrictions under settings in iPhone: all is correct; in-App purchases allowed
    chewed my lip
finally sent a message to the itunes store support.. waiting for their answer
no changes so far. I still get the same error message.
    Any ideas?

  • Currency on Purchase order

    Hi friends
My Vendor currency is in USD and Purchase info record was mantained in EUR due to Europe plant. When I am creating Purchase order in Europe plant againt US Vendor, it is picking USD as currency from Vendor master and not from Purchase info record.
Is there any standard way to pick the currency from PIR and not from Vendor?
We didn't want to have user interference to change the currency at PO level in the header.
Please suggest of you know User exits or BAPI' to handle this issue.
    Regards
    Prasad

    Dear Prasad
At inof record level we will maintain the condition records for the material .We can maintian the different currency otehr than vendor currency. Based on the exchange rate , system will convert the same into the Vendor order cuurenny in PO.
In vendor master , you can change the currency to EURO since the Vendor order currency data is maintained at Purchase organization level. Even the vendor belonging to US, you can maintain different currency. When we create PO, Based on Purchase org, the vendor order currency is picked in PO.
    Hope this clarify your doubt.
    warm regards

  • Using your mini Mac in Europe at 220 V?

I am about to purchase the mini Mac from a Mac Store and have noticed in the specification for power input they have listed 110 V (US, Japan, South America). I spend my time between Europe and the US and would like to be able to take my mini Mac with me. I have gone to the European Apple sites and they have it listed there 110-240 V. Does that mean that if I purchase a mini Mac here in the States, I won't be able to use it in Europe because of the voltage difference, but if I purchase it in Europe I can use it both here and there? Has anyone ever used the mini Mac they purchased in the US in Europe?
    Do tell, oh wise one....

There is some confusion as to whether the mini sold in the Americas and Japan is really only 110 volt.
One person reported in this forum a few months ago that they took a new Mac mini to the UK and the power pack burned out immediately when he plugged it directly into the local electric current with just a plug adapter.
However, a number of folks reported just last week in another thread in this forum that they have taken Mac minis bought in North America and used them successfully in various European locations with just a plug adapter without any harm.
Here is an example of a universal adapter that is usable in 150 nations. It will convert any plug to fit any electrical outlet. Plus it has a USB port to charge USB devices in any of the 150 countries. (perhaps overkill, but you never know when you may get a chance trip to Italy!)

  • If I go in store will I still get an extended warranty (without AppleCare) for my Macbook Pro as a student?

I am buying the 15" Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display (2.3GHz Quad-Core Intel i7, 16GB, 512GB flash storage...) which is £2,199. I'm going to University and so therefore I am apparently entitled to a 15% discount which makes the price £1869.60.
I went into the store today and double checked this, and the man confirmed it and told me about AppleCare and how it can be purchased for around £40 which extends the warranty to 3 years. As far as I'm aware, without AppleCare, the standard macbook comes with a complimentary 1 year for service and repairs, and 90 days telephone support. I have heard that, if you buy it as a student, the 1 year for service and repairs is automatically extended to 3 years, but the phone support stays the same - is this the case if you purchase it in-store? I know there is the 'Education Store' on the Apple website, but can I still be within the 'Education Store' contract if I purchase the MBP from the store?
I basically want to know if I will get the exact same offer from the 'Education Store' if I go into the store, or if I'll end up with a better offer if I go and use my university's network/call the store and purchase it that way?

Students get the same warranty as any other purchaser.  In Europe, some jurisdictions mandate that the warranty be for two years.  Check to see if that applies in your country.  If you want Apple care, that will be an extra cost option.

It should not make any difference.
    Ciao.
