-useLegacyAOT=no big drops in performance

Here is the bugbase ticked https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3695884
There you will get sources and precompiled IPA that can be executed on any iOS device (I use my Enterprise license).
The same code with -useLegacyAOT=no on iPad4 iOS7.0.4 show >400ms testst. The same but without -useLegacyAOT=no show ~310ms
Also small notice. It's can be no true but may be issue also.
Try to compile this test for Air 3.6 and Air 4.0. I see small different. Looks like VM Math was updated And it's increase latency between Runtime and CPU

Hi Anton,
Issue is fixed in latest AIR 15 beta build Download Adobe AIR 15 Beta - Adobe Labs.  Please let us know if you still face the issues.

I spilled a little bit of soda on my keyboard ( more like big drops) and my computer won't turn on but it will still charge.  After i spilled it it kept trying to turn on and off by itself until i finally just shut it down.  Today i tried to turn it back on ( i spilled it last night) and now it won't turn on but when i plug it in the orange light comes on so it still charges.

TBF: You may have been lucky enough not to cripple your MBP immediately with your spill, but a spill such as you describe will have left obvious traces if you ever need to take your machine in for a repair of any kind. And as soon as evidence of the spill is found, any chance of the necessary repairs being performed under warranty will be gone.
Taking the machine in now to be cleaned and have the greasy parts replaced will be expensive, but doing so may save whatever remains of your warranty. For a price, Apple will restore the machine to like-new condition, and at the very least, you will then have a 90-day repair warranty on it. If you have significantly more time than that remaining on your original one-year warranty, and especially if you've bought the extended AppleCare Protection Plan, it would probably be worth taking the machine in to a Genius Bar for a look-over. Ask whether, if you have Apple clean and repair the machine now, your new-computer warranty and AppleCare plan will be reinstated afterward or whether all you'll have is the short repair warranty from now on. If the spill will negate your warranty and AppleCare even if you have Apple clean it, then the cleaning probably isn't worth paying for. But if paying for the cleaning will get your warranty and AppleCare reinstated, it may be worth doing.

I wonder if some one can help, about 10 days ago i had a big drop in downstream sync speed from 5000-6000 to 288
BT have tested the line twice, and the second engineer has rebalanced the line, but i'm still stuck at the same sync speed

Well after 3 days, still no change
Download speedachieved during the test was - 156 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 50-250 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :288 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1056 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 250 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 10.26:26.92:62.82 (SBE:NBEBE)

It sounds like the drop damage more then just the lightning adapter.

  • Big Library:Slow Performance?

I have about 10,000 photos (.jpg ~3MB each) in my Aperture Library. I want to add many more photos but I'm worried about slow performance. My questions:
    1. How big is your library or how big do you think the libraries can get?
    2. Have you noticed slower performance with larger libraries?
    3. Any opinion on breaking up into multiple smaller libraries vs. 1 larger library?

    I am running two libraries,
one for all of my work related imagery, 15,000+ images 50/50 raw & jpegs and
the other for all of my stuff I shoot of sporting clubs, the bit I give back to the community, 18,000+ predominantly jpeg's
both run smoothly, one on the MacPro and the other on the G4 laptop.
Issue starts to be the backing up, if you are thinking it will get BIG, try a library for each client. Could be a good selling point as well, "your imagery is isolated from other clients and has its own dedicated backup".

  • Big Content Access Performance Challenge

    Partitioning solution: GPT
+ Window 8.1 is capable to process 64-bit GPT partitions - even those created by parted-program under Linux OS
+ big disks available with full capacity
Formatting solution (at the time being):
    1) Window 8.1: NTFS
+ works also under Linux with ntfs-3g installed
       - missing ext4 features such as journaling missing
    2) Linux: EXT4 with mkfs.ext4
+ ext4 features such as journaling
Challenge: big data performance is zero with Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation at the moment
Problem 1: big partitions (>2TB): not available!
    Problem 2: big files (> 2TB): no access !
Problem 3: big hard disks ( > 2TB): no access!
    Notes:
    a) 64-bit Linux OS was able to a) create b) access c) operate with ok performance big (>2TB) content/data/files in >4TB disks
    b)  " ** not accessible **"  message to be considered because content IS accessible once a 64-bit software is installed
    c)  " ** the volume does not contain a recognized file system ** message should rather be something like
"sorry, system can not recognize file system, please install/get .... solution"
    d) 32-bit system should NOT offer format as an option for with 64-bit big data !
    e) NTFS- format should not be offered for big > 2TB data by 32-bit software!
    f) it's hard for user to know whether problems are due to 32-bit programs when 32-bit programs itself don't
recognize the fact that they are processing big data - this challenge is the same to other 32/64-bit hybrid OS systems
Question: what is the add-on software and where to download to get access to EXT4 disks used by 64-bit OS ?

    Thanks for your advice!
    More detailed info:
    - file size example 3.3TB <=> is 64-bit
    - partition size example: 4TB <=> is 64-bit
    - hard disk example: 4 TB hd used for enterpise big data apps <=> is 64-bit
    - partioned by 64-bit parted software in enterpise Linux
    - formatted by 64-bit mkfs.ext4 in enterpise Linux
      where
      - ext4 is fourth extended filesystem is a journaling file system for Linux
      - can support volumes with sizes up to 1 exbibyte (EiB) and files with sizes up to 16 tebibytes (TiB).[
Goal: to explore Windows 8.1 Enteprise Evaluation performance with big data using big data content created by other 64-bit Linux
    Questions:
    1) do I need to install something to make Windows 8.1 Enteprise Evaluation handle properly big data ?
    2) what software does Microsoft recommends for Ext4 ?
    3) will the final Windows 8.1 Enteprise Evaluation embed Ext4 ?
    4) which tools and apps does Microsoft recommend
       a) to read ext4 format big data for writing it to different hard disk created by Win 8.1 with GPT ?
          - goal is to use 64-bit Linux big data in Windows 8.1 Enteprise Evaluation
       b) to read from hard disk created by Win 8.1 with GPT and to write to ext4 format disk ?
          - goal is to use Windows 8.1 Enteprise Evaluation big data in 64-bit Linux
    5) why did Microsoft diskpart give NTFS as only formatting option for big volumes:
    > diskpart <-- in command mode
    DISKPART > LIST VOLUME
SELECT VOLUME 17 <-- one of volumes
    FILESYSTEMS --> Current File System
Type: RAW <-- in Linux system this is EXT4
File Systems supported for formatting: NTFS <--- *** only NTFS where max file size < 2TB***

  • Mac Book Pro 2010: dramatically dropped in performance.

    Hi,
I purchased my Mac book pro about 6 months ago and recently it has dropped dramatically in performance.
Here is a list of issues I’m having:
    - Takes ages to start up
    - Lags when typing
    - Lags when watching videos
    - programmes keep crashing: Photoshop, After Effects, word
    - When screen saver is on the screen flickers
    - When video clip is playing the screen flickers
    - Mouse sticks and freezes
    - Brightness dimmer randomly changes
    - Screen turns back on when brightness is turned off
    - Windows through boot camp runs even slower.
And recently I have discovered in my activity monitor that quite a lot of my processes randomly jumps from 0.4 CPU usage to about 20.0. This happens to several processes like dashboard even though I have nothing on there.
    My laptop stats are:
    2.53 GHz Intel Core i5
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    500GB hard drive
Any help will be extremely appreciated, Thank you!

I would start by repairing disk permissions in Disk Utility. If you still have bad performance after that, do a PRAM reset (hold down CMD-OPT-P-R while Mac boots up). If you still have trouble after that, download a free program called Onyx and use it to rebuild your system caches. There's a very good chance this will fix your issues.

  • Ok has anybody else seen a big drop in their synch...

Ok since the really bad rain on Thursday night my noise ratio had dropped from 16 dB down to 5dB and although I was still at 40/10 my max attainable had dropped to just over that.
A quick reboot of the modem this morning improved that with the noise margin going back up to 10dB and the max attainable going up to 45 meg/sec and I was wondering if anybody else has seen such a big change in their stats in the last couple of days?
And by the way my VDSL2 profile stayed stuck at 8c.

Ok an up date came down this morning and found the router had reset itself in the night and now my stats are are
    Basic Status
    Upstream
    Downstream
    Unit
    Actual Data Rate
    9994
    39904
    Kb/s
    SNR
    219
    62
    0.1dB
So now I last lost 10 decibels of noise margin which corresponds to about 12 meg of attainable.
I am on 40/10 just but I am wondering why is it happening on just the download as the upload is untouched.
Oh well the BT checker with it's 33 meg/sec estimate may be correct after all.

  • GTX 760 OC 2GB Fps drops and performance drops when reach 2GB

Hey after this problems with the GTX970, I decided to test my graphic card which I received from the RMA because the last one just gone, and when reach almost 2GB of ram used the performance drops a lot like in the 970, In games like Assetto Corsa I'm feeling this problem, sometimes I have drops from 60 fps to 20 fps ..
My model is the GTX 760 OC GAMING 2GB but the last which gone had the difference in the memory chip, using hynix memories instead of this new one which have Elpida.
    Any idea?

  • Sudden drop of performance

    Hi All.
I have had BT BB for well over a year with zero proat all, until recently
for the last week or so my connection to the net will just drop out, the router stays connected but pages will time out and then all of a sudden it will work fine again for a few minutes.
these are my stats just now after a reboot of the router and connection to the master socket.
CRC's are probably the problem, but I have not touched the connection etc, so the problame has to be with either my line or at BT's end.
any ideas on how to solve the problem's?

sorry but does your internet connection remain ok but you have problems getting pages to load - you are not dropping internet connection?  with the manual reset <10min ago it is a very short time to see if there is an error problem
your noise margin is set at the new 'norm' of 3db which is normally used for good lines but sometimes it does couse problems especilly at night as the noise margin erodes and errors increase.  do you find problem mainly at night?

  • Gpu for iphone 4s air 3.4 drop in performance

Hello, im building an air 3.4 actionscript mobile app in flash builder 4.7 for iphone. this is my first app.
the core function of this app is to play movieclips exported from flash in 1 swc.
the clips after added on stage are being scaled 4 times bigger, and played.
so the problem is that i found out you can change render mode in yourappname-app.xml
i changed it from auto - with auto on i have 60/60 fps - when i switched to gpu i get 20/60 fps and app starts to lagg.
i tested it on exported ipa's installed via itunes, test whas made on iphone 4s
what may be the cause of this? at what point is the gpu power for air mobile apps?
any advice? should i switch to air 3.5?

    Hi,
if you have vector graphics changing into GPU can, as you say, make it slower.
If you want to improve performance with GPU mode you should try to change all the vector graphics into bitmaps. Also, change render mode to low helps.
I recommend you to google for adobe air performances. There is a LOT of information out there and you'll need to face every different case one by one depending your code and SWC.

  • Photoshop CS6 drop in performance

Appearntly Photoshop CS6 is horrible with large files.
I don't really have the weakes gear, and I do extremely heavy designs, but even opening an avarage file (90MB PDF file) and trying to pan/zoom around is impossible. Not talking about selecting an object and move it around - takes decades to do so.
    My gears is:
    CPU - i7 3930K 3.2Ghz
    MOBO - ASUS P9X79 Deluxe LGA2011
    RAM - G.Skill 32GB DDR3 1600Mhz Ripjaws Z Edition Quad Channel CL10-10-10-30
    GPU - PNY Quadro 4000 2GB GDDR5
    SSD - OCZ Vertex 3 120GB
    OS - Windows 7 Pro 64bit SP1
Asus BIOS is updated and all setting or OK.
    All drivers are updated.
    Windows is updated.
    Temperture is good.
    With CS5 everything was smooth.
As soon as I installed CS6 trial everything went to hell.
    Help?

Whatever causes it, it's not something that's systemic; on my Windows 7 x64 system I saw a small increase in responsiveness between Photoshop CS5 and CS6.
Have you updated Photoshop to 13.0.1?  The trial installer is still 13.0.0.  It seems to me I recall Adobe did some things to improve this issue with the update, and I know they've promised to do even more for the next release.
There have also been some workarounds proposed, including going into the Layers panel options dialog and disabling display of layer thumbnails.  It might be interesting if you'd try that and see if it helps.
Also, make sure your Performance preferences have Cache Levels set to a number larger than 1.  I think the default is 4.
Make sure to close and restart Photoshop after any settings change and before testing.
    -Noel
By the way, I use and love OCZ Vertex 3 drives (I have 4 of them in an array).  OCZ makes good hardware.

  • Gaming App dont work. very big drop with core speed and fps.

hello. I recently bought MSI R9 290X 4GB gaming and when i install MSI Gaming app and try to run it it shows me "The platform does not support this application.
second when i play or test it 1080p the fps stick to 60 and more but when in game loads of people go in to one place and start fight with boss the framrate drops to 10-18 fps and GPU core speed drops from 1030MHz to 500-600Mhz. How its posible with graphic card allmost from top end in 1080p ???

The CPU stick at max temp 64 its watercooled with 2xnoctua coolers at radiator btw it sits in fractal ARC XL so Airflow its masive in this case 2X140 Fans front 1x 140 bottom 1x 140 exh in the back at top is that rad with noctuas. with all other games is no problem Tomb Raider at full detiles 60+fps midle earth shadow of mordor the same full detiles and its smooth with high fps and gpu core speed stick to max only in GW2 it shows only when its many ppl in the same place during fight with boss the fps drops so low to 10 and gpu core speed drops too like i say before. The fight looks like in link, during normal play fps 30-80 its strange too.not with graphic card like this.i didnt try this from cd cose i dont have and dont use cd-dvdrom.i will try to get them from cd and check.

  • Drop in performance after installing kb3020114

Hi, few days ago all my programs and apps started working slower for no particular reason. Web browser needs more time to load websites(especially those that are using flash), weather app takes a long time to load and the game I've been playing(LoL) has
sudden drops of FPS. Does anyone else noticed anything wrong? I'm not sure if this is this update but after restoring system before it was installed everything went back to normal, until it has installed again.

  • DROP TABLE performance

    Hello,
could someone share any tips on improving execution times for dropping tables?
I have a blank table with over 200 columns and it takes 23-25s to drop. Smaller tables take something around 0.1s of course. Problem is I need to drop thousands of such tables and then recreate them. The recreate itself takes no more than a second.
What's the origin of a longer time? Is it because of an implicit commit in the drop table command?
I've tried this in noarchivelog mode with almost identical times. I've also tried different optimizer_mode settings and commit_logging, none have shown any usable results, but I'm still experimenting. The goal is to minimize execution time once I need to run the whole batch, maybe running multiple sessions can work out to be faster (while individual times are maybe longer), not sure yet.
    Here is a sample output:

Then I hope this is an academic question (and I understand wanting to answer a question from a purely academic standpoint).
Because ... dropping tables and recreating them -- especially with different structures should be a one-time operation. It would be very easy to spend more time trying to reduce the run time than the non-optimal run time takes. From a business standpoint, it costs more to find a solution than the problem itself is costing. And I'd bet you've already crossed that threshold.
But again, even without a real business problem, it is sometimes worth while to pursue an answer just so you'll have a better understanding of the processes involved.

Yes, it is only meant to be run once in a prod environment, eventually. At this point, I'm trying to reduce the execution time to give me options in case I only get a limited maintenance window. Granted, I could have it run for a longer period of time, but it's nice to know of workarounds. After all, this particular script is one of many.
But in a test enviornment? I can run this as many times as I like without affecting anyone. So yes, it is at least 50% curiosity to see if it is possible, but if it provides me with a solution I decide is worth the saved time, then I'll be a happy camper.
