User-Role reporting  at Portal

Hi,
I know that one can use Roles under User Config, to learn which user is assigned to which roles and vise versa. But, is there a more flexible mechanism that we can query DB tables , to make custom reports about users and roles ? I've searched for PCD tables but couldn't find anything useful. Is there a table that holds user-role information ?
Regards
Ahmet

Hi Ahmet,
no, sorry, I do not have. Once again, I would strongly disencourage you to go this way. Accessing the DB directly is not supported and in very, very rare cases useful in the sense of having the possibility to catch some data you won't get via Java API. The scenario you gave is not such a case.
Keep in mind that SAP can change the DB structure whenever they want to (and they do!).
I would estimate that the things you want to know can be done by a 50-liner in Java. And you can add everything you want - display what you want within the portal, export csv files, mail info to people interested in - just whatever you want.
Hope it helps

  • Type of users needed to view reports in portal

    HI gurus,
I am planning to grant acces to bw reports to some portal users.
The portal users only would visualize iviews based on reports and or querys and will nbot interact with the bw backend system.
I am trying to avoid to create a user in the bw system for each portal user who need to consult the reports because of the sap license cost, but I do not have any idea how to map several portal users to one bw user?
Any idea or help will be welcome.
    thanx in advance.

Only by creating roles are you able to assign different pieces of content
    to different groups of users.
First Create a  User Group and put your Content in that group, the create a role and assign this group to that perticular Role.
A role is a container for applications and
information that can be assigned to a
    particular group of users.
1 The content of a role enables users to perform
the tasks in their respective job description.
2 The content of a role is based on the company
structure and on the information needs of the
    portal users in the company.
3 The portal navigation structure is defined by
the sum of the roles assigned to the user.
4 Technically, a role is a hierarchy of folders
    containing other portal content objects.
5 Roles can be assigned to users or groups of
users, i.e. the portal role connects users (or
groups of users) to the portal content.
    What are Worksets?
1 A role usually consists of one or more
    worksets that bundle applications and
    information.
2 A workset is a collection of applications
and information that belong together from
a semantic point of view because they are
part of the same activity area (e.g.
controlling or budgeting) of a user.
3 Whereas a role is based on global
company structures, a workset is based on
    user-specific tasks or activities (for
    example, u201CMy Budgetu201D or u201CMy Staffu201D are
    worksets in the u201CManageru201D role).
3 Worksets are building blocks for roles:
One workset can be used within several
roles, and one role can consist of several
    worksets.
5 Technically, a workset is a hierarchy of
folders that contains other portal content
    objects.
6 Worksets cannot be assigned to users
(only roles can be assigned to users).
Relationship Between Roles and Worksets: Example
    Role          :                               Sales Manager
    Workset     :                               Budget
    Activities   :                            Monitoring
                                                 Planning
                                                Approving
                                                 Forecasting
    Role          :                                Sales Manager
    Workset     :                               Team Leader
    Activities    :                                  Activity assignment
                                                          Hiring
                                                   Communication
so... Role will contain the Worksets and Work sets Contain the Activities...
    Order is like this...
    In Portal Content(Portal ContentDirectory)
    -Roles
    -Pages
    -Worksets
    -iViews
hope its clear how to create roles concept in EP.
    Thank you ,
    Kalyan.

  • Procedure to Publish BI Web Reports in Portal Roles

    Hi,
I've created close to 20 Web Reports and need to make those available for Users through Portal. There are different sets of Users, such that one set can access only half, rest can access remaining. I know this can be achieved by creating separate Reporting User Roles, but need help with below points:
    1. Our basis team are not familiar with BI7 Role maintenance, thus would anyone share the Reporting User Roles design (i.e. which authorization objects to assign).
    2. When I open a Web Template in WAD, the menu Publish -> "in Role" is disabled. Should this be enabled to publish a web report in role or is there any other way?
    Please let me know.
    Regards,
    Vikrant.

    User Administartion Role in Portals.
only Identity management, Import, Activity reports are showned.

    Thanks & Regards

    Hi All,
    Hi All,
    I got the solution.
In the User Administration --> Identity Management, search the user or group or role then click on the result list item then you will get the details.
There you can find the following TABs for user/group/role.
    1. General Information
    2. Account Information
    3. Contact Information
    4. Additional Information
    5. Assigned Roles
    6. Assigned Groups
    7. User Mapping for System Access
User Mapping is one of the TAB(7th). Click on that User Mapping TAB

  • Abap+java stack, users not mapping to portal role.

We have the ABAP+java add-on install.
The UME is by default ABAP engine.
    From Portal:
1 I create a portal user, it ALWAYS creates ABAP user in ABAP stack of WAS.
    2. I create a portal role, it creates a role in the Portal.
    3. When I assign the user this portal role,
    having worksets and pages,
I get no pages or worksets shown in the portal page as soon
    user logs in.
Can you help configure this so that I could see the pages and iviews inside this workset when user logs in.
    Thanks  a lot.
PS:  posted this in webdynpro-ABAP.  no reply came.  Sorry to double post.

  • Problem assigning internet user Role through portal

    Hi All,
Please could someone help me with the following:
I am creating a registration process that creates a new CRM Business partner with contact person and internet user roles. When i run the Bapi from with in CRM everything works fine however when i run my jsp dynpage application and call the same bapi, the internet user that i create does not have any of the logon details or roles. Does anyone know why this is? i am using the same user when running in crm and the portal.
    Many thanks in advance
    Calvin

    Hi Sunil,
Thanks for your reply. answers to your questions:
    1. Yes, all portal users are maintained and have the same roles as CUA users. Portal authenticates against CUA.
    2. Yes the user is created correctly on the backend. i have created a BAPI that creates users, BP's and assigns roles. This Bapi works perfectly when run in CRM but as soon as it is accessed via the portal the internet user role does not have all the required information.
    Many thanks

  • New Request/Service Offerings not displaying on Portal via Catalog Group/ User Role

I have created some new service offerings and request offerings which I have published and are visible on the portal when logged in as an administrator.
I have then added these new items into a catalog group which is tied to a pre-existing user role to target our IT department ( this user role is currently working fine and shows all the other IT related offerings)
The new published items do are not showing up on the portal.
AD sync completed with no errors.
I have done the following to troubleshoot to no avail:
    -  created a new catalog group and user role to target the new SO RO's to
    - targeted directly to a test user rather than the AD group
Some other weird things that I  believe to be  related to this is that the contents of catalog groups appear empty on local console but when logging on to the SM server to launch console all catalog group items are visible.
we are seeing a lot of  error and warning event logs 26319 & 3333
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Customize portal "Help" link based on user roles

Is there a chance to customize the Help link URL in Masthead iView based on user roles? The use case we have is that the "Help" should be different for users of the purchasing company from those of the supplying company.
    Thanks.

    Hello Jay.
This is a multi step process.
Step 1 : Create 2 desktops with everything as same but different mastheads.
    - Copy your existing desktop and paste it in your working folder in PCD (Not select Delta link)
    - Now download masthead par file.
    - Modify your masthead par file where you will disable help link. Rename you masthead file (newMasthead.par) and export it from NWDS. Now import it in portal.
    - open your framework page in desktop2. Just add your new masthead in it. Enable the new one and disable the existing one.
Step 2 : Create 2 groups of users. (First one belong to users who wish to see help link . i.e existing desktop) (Second of thoese users who do not have to see help link i.e. newDesktop)
    - Assign users to appropriate groups.
    - Assign same roles to both groups.
Step 3 : Modify main rule section in PCD.
    - If group = HelpLinkUsers Then Desktop1
If group = NoHelpLinkUsers Then Desktop2.
You may find above process bit tedious and lengthy.
But if you wish to further customize your portal then this will be needed one day.
If you find problems in implementing any step then please search in google or SDN.
Please revert back on any specific question on above approach you may face while implementing.
    Thanks

  • Content delivery in portal based on user roles ?

    Portal Server new bee...
Please can anyone point me to guides/url where i can look to enable content delivery in a portal based on user roles and how to establish SSO.
I have installed Portal Server6.0 and iplanet Directory Server Management Edition installed.
I did go through PS Development guide and got some sample containers up and running in the portal.
    Thanks.

For the role-based delivery, Comment 1 sends you in the right direction. Here are a couple things to keep in mind as you read through the customization guide.
The basic gist of what you need is to define your organization profiles with all the services defined at the org level. Then you can define simple profiles at the role level. These will probably focus around the selected and available attributes on the table containers.
Then you might want to pay particular attention to the merge, lock, and propogate attributes. These will allow you to define how the role affects the availability of channels (does the role add, remove, or force the channel?). The easiest thing to do is probably to start with a core group of channels, and then have each role define additional channels that are of interest and should be added to the selected/available lists.
Having roles remove channels will make matters a little more confusing and harder to maintain.

  • SOD User Violation report by Business Role

    All,
Is there a current method for generating a User violation report that shows all SOD's via the technical role and which Business role that, the Technical role is associated to in GRC?
Currently the reports that I am seeing do provide the transaction, authorization, and technical role level of any violation and what business process triggered it but does not show which business role(s) that these conflicting SOD's reside in.  (especially if a user is assigned to 2 or more business roles)
Audit is pulling reports of users with SOD's and asking to re-mediate the SOD but currently we have to do dumps of all of the business roles a user is assigned to and then compare the role listed in the violation with the technical roles listed in the assigned business roles of the user.
is this available at all?  or maybe in 10.1?

    Dear Michael,
yes exactly - the new feature comes with the note. It is also possible to implement this note in 10.0 (it's included in SP17 but can be implemented earlier).
See the following screenshot how it looks like in an productive environment after implementing this note:
    [BR] stands for Business Role.
    Hope this answer the question.

  • Howto add user role in OID for PORTAL use from wihtin SSO SERVER plugin

    Hi all,
Can someone help me with this issue:
I'm developing a custom authentication module for SSO Server. From this plugin I would like to set the roles/groups to which that user belongs, before the redirect to the Portal is done.
I'm adding the user attributes to the OID via the DirContext.modifyAttributes(..) method from within the plugin. However I don't know how to add the roles/group definition to the user entry in the OID so that Oracle Portal can show a personalized desktop when the user logs on.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Chris

    Chris ,
Do you know how to get user role in OID? Did you fix this issue. i have same job in this point.

  • Display interactive report rows based on user role.

    Hello,
Can anyone please help me out with this issue. i have an interactive report and now i want to make this report as conditional based on user role. Like i want to dispaly all the report rows for an Admin user role and for a developer I want the report to display only his/her rows. Can anyone please help me how can I resolve this issue.
Do I need to have two separate reports for each role or can we make achieve this with only one report.
    thanks,
    Orton

Here is a possible answer.. Build your Interactive report off of a collection. And when you build the collection you can build an if statement to either build your select with or without the filtering of user_id..
See this blog entry for how to build a interactive report from a collection: http://www.oracleapplicationexpress.com/tutorials/71-oracle-apex-interactive-report-based-on-plsql-function

  • How to assign a Bex report to the user role

    Hi Expert
in the Excel, when you open a query, the system will display history, faviourate, infoarea, role button on the left side of the popup screen. if you click the role button, you can see the user authorized Bex report. now I have created a Bex report and I want to assign it to the user role.
    how to do that?
does anyboday know which transcation or setting can solve this problem?
    thank you in advance!

    Hi,
You need to add the object S_RS_COMP:
S_RS_COMP: Authorizations for using different components for the query definition. This authorization object is very important for reporting
The authorization object S_RS_COMP restricts query component activities. For example, it restricts if someone can create queries, change queries, or execute queries. You can restrict query creation, change, and execution by the InfoArea and InfoCube. If your company has one InfoCube for sales information and another for financial data, you can restrict a user to only those queries written for the sales InfoCube or the financial InfoCube.
You could also use S_RS_COMP if you want to protect by query name. For example, you have an InfoCube for sales data. Every sales manager needs access to this InfoCube. However, sales managers in different lines of business are not allowed to execute the same query.
