Using cuepoints to navigate timeline

Hello,
I have a movie with several navigational cuepoints embedded.
When the movie gets to these cuepoints, I want to navigate to other
frames in the timeline (the movie has its own layer and has a
single keyframe for the whole timeline, but other parts of the
stage have things happening on different keyframes). Below is my
code, where my cuepoints are named 5.1 and 5.2 the instance name
for my FLVplayback is vid. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How would I play an intro video and then when the video ends, advance to frame 2? I know to use cuepoints, but my code seems to be more than broken. Here is what I have:

Using AIC in ProRes timeline

I currently edit a lot of videos - mixing high quality original footage with found low quality clips from the web. I edit in ProRes, but for the sake of storage space, would it hurt much to convert the low quality web clips to AIC instead of ProRes and use them in the timeline? Even when I use ProRes, I encode at the resolution of the source clip, so it has to be rendered in FCP anyway. Just curious what your thoughts are about this. Thanks!

I think they are basically the same sort of idea.
AIC was the original and ProRes is the "new improved" version though I've never noticed any difference in quality.
Of course, that doesn't mean that others with more specialised eyes and requirements can't see vast improvements.

Legacy FCP has Revert Project to return to the last saved version, and it has Restore Project to go back to one of the autosaved versions. The maximum number of undo's can be set in user preferences. A lot different than X.

I have multiple Automobile dashboards,suppose says dashboard names are AUX auto Dashboard,Baolong Motors Dashboard,Beiqi Foton motors Dashboard,chery auto Dashboard,fujian motors,fudi,geely Motors Dashboard.
Each dashboard is linked with comform dimension in rpd.
My Question is if we open a report suppose AUX dashbaord in that if i click customer column it should hit other baolong motors dashboard customer column and show the results.
what i did is in answers i selected customer column in column propeties column format used value interaction navigate, But these one only work column heading,i need for values some one said me i need to pass parameters,
I really dont know how to pass these parameter
can any one help me out ?

Let's say you have 2 reports, EMP and Account. Let's say you want to be able to navigate from emp to account once user click on emp id or emp name, it will take you account report showing the emp's account. In that case, you are passing values from emp to account..
If you click on "John smith" from emp, it will navigate to account report that has only john smith's account information. In this case, on your account report, you will need to have emp name column, and you will need to put a filter on it as "is prompt", therefore when "john smith" from emp report is passed to account report, emp column of account report will be able to receive "john smith" and filter account report base on it.

Navigate Timeline with keyboard

Curious if anyone knows how to navigate through clips in the timeline?
I know "v" will select the nearest edit, then I can hit enter and open that clip in the viewer. But I'd like to be able to establish a focus on a clip and jump forward or back or down. Is there anything like that?

basic timeline navigation is handled through industry standard NLE transport controls ...
J = play backwards, double tap it and you will play backward at 2x speed, triple tap and faster still etc
K = pause
L = play forward, double tap it and you will play forward at 2x speed, triple tap and faster still etc
press J and K together and you will play slowmo backward
press L and K together and you will play slowmo forward
press K whilst tapping J will jog backward one frame ... same as tapping the back arrow key
press K whilst tapping L will jog forward one frame ... same as tapping the forward arrow key
press the up arrow key will move the playhead to the previous edit point
press the down arrow key will move the playhead to the next edit point
there are loads more of these basic transport controls, look under the Mark menu > Previous and Next for more examples
if your goal is to have the clip load into the viewer then consider using the Playhead Sync mode to Open (View menu > Playhead Sync > Open) as that mode automatically opens in the Viewer window whichever clip is currently under the timeline playhead

Use Slider to control timeline of tweened animation

I have 3 pictures and animated it using motion tween as
usual.
Now, I want to create a slider so that user can drag along
forward and backward so that the tweened animation moves
accordingly. Eg the whole motion ends in 10 sec
If user drag slider to far right it goes to 10 sec frame and
if it position to middle the movie go to 5th sec. etc.
How to do this to associate the slider to frames ? The adobe
official site does not have document on this. Please help.

You have to make your own slider.
Sliders are based on the idea to find the percentage of the
position of scroller to it's maximum position as a ratio 0-1 (0
left, 1 right) and multiplying that ratio with a value (in your
case the number of frames). As least that way I can think of them
and create them.

it with a preferred width and set the number of frames it will

Safari tab freezes when using gestures to navigate

Hi guys, I am really hoping someone can help me out here before I explode! Here is the issue. When I use the gestures (2 finger swipes) inside of Safari, occasionally the tab I am in will stop responding. The tab no longer will allow me to go back or forwards, if i enter an address in the bar it will not go to the address it just stays on the broken page i am on. If I open a new tab I can navigate to a new address, however the gestures do not work at all, no back or scrolling inside of safari. Gestures work outside of safari for example I can scroll in word or in notepad. To reset the issue if i quit Safari and relaunch it will work again for some time, before presenting again. It is also worth mentioning that if i "reset" safari from the menu the application will die and require a forcequit. This issue is only happening in Safari.
Here is what i have tried:
PRAM reset
Verify disk permissions
Update Java
Delete local content in flash player
Reboot
This issue does not appear to happen in other user accounts, though it is intermittent so Just may not have occurred while testing.
There is nothing notable logged in the console when the issue occurs.
Something strange I noticed is that the apple update window/appstore show the same behavior.
I am getting seriously frustrated that I can't fix this and have spent a good amount of time on it.
Any assistance would be helpful!

A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.

How to use cuepoint in audio files

Into a file .fla I have a file audio with cuepoints. I need
to read these cuepoints in flash (I use the MX 2004 version) to
manage some little animations into the stage.
It is possible to make this?
I have found solutions only for the .flv file but not for wav
or mp3 or others audio file... Why?

I'm trying to do this exact same thing and am coming to the conclusion that it is not possible given my setup. I have a MacBook Pro 2.2 Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM and a NIVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Graphics Card. I'm running FCS 3 and all media is read from a 1TB Seagate 7200 SATA drive read through a SeriTek 2SM2 PCI card in the Express Slot.
You can easily arrange your monitors to do what you're asking (as outlined above), but the problem is the Graphics Card is not powerful enough to run both monitors and you will experience dropped frames with any HD codecs. I've tried XDCAM, DVCPROHD and ProRes 422 -- all dropped frames immediately. In fact, even if I use the "closed clamshell" mode, so the graphics card is powering ONLY the external monitor, I still get the same dropped frames issue. The only way I can edit or play back without dropped frames is by using NO external monitor whatsoever.
Is this a unique problem for me? Is there a solution to this? Would the new 17 inch i5's with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (512MB) be able to power an external monitor?
EDIT: And the External Monitor is a Dell 2408WFP connected through the DVI port.

Using Numbers as a timeline program?

I am writing stories as a hobby and have so many characters and events now with my 3th book that I start to forget what happened when and who was born at what date. I looked for a timeline program on the web but could not find anything that is special made for writers. I was wondering if Numbers could be used for something like this. Does someone has a good template or could tell me how to make this kind of project?

Numbers might be helpful.
List the characters in columns across the top and time in rows down the left (on the theory that there are more time segments than characters). It's easier to scroll down than across, IMHO.

Navigate timeline with timecode question

Hello all...
I'm an Avid user looking at Premiere for certain projects. Last night as I was watching a tutorial the tutorialist selected the timeline panel (clicked inside of it) and then entered a timecode, which automatically selected the timecode display in that panel, he then hit enter and the CTI jumped to the time code.
He said that it was not necessary to select the timecode display. He also did this several times. He was using CS5...I have CS5.5.
It does not work for me. It would be very good if it did. I like to use the mouse as little as possible.
Does anyone have any further information on this feature? Does it actually work? Was it only CS5?

Are you saying that you highlight the timecode or just the timeline panel? Sounds to me like you're saying the tc itself. Because if I click on the tc itself, I can type timecode in there as well. What I'm talking about is:
Say you're working in the timeline panel (therefore it is selected - just the panel), and you just start typing numbers (ie, timecode that you'd like to jump to)...does that do it for you? In this tutorial, he said that it wasn't necessary to highlight the tc istelf. Just as long as the panel is selected. And he did it several times. Though it may have been through the magic of editing. It's a Lynda.com video titled "0203 Understanding timecode"...at 2:13 of the video he does it for the first time...for anyone who might have that tutorial series.
I actually think that I should upload the video to youtube to demo that I'm not crazy.

Button to Navigate Timeline

I am using Flash CS3 making use of AS3.
I have 10 buttons, every button will play the next 10 frames
on the current timeline then "jump" to its intended frame which is
also in a different scene. The goal is to have the beginning of
every scene a basic template so that no matter where you jump from
everything is consistent.
While I have learned quite a bit in the last 2 weeks, this is
my second Flash Document ever (my first was done a couple weeks ago
and had no AS to worry about). I have no problem reading or
researching as long as I can find the material to do so, so a point
in the right direction would be great.

Oh hey... my next hurdle will be to learn how to make a
button to display my presentation in fullscreen format... but all
things in time :)

Based on your suggestion I started reading up on Arrays and I
can build an indexed Array, however I have no clue how to use it,
nor am I convinced that the Array I built is usable for the task at
hand. I am finding that I can find help for individual components
but I don't know enough to put them together.
When I say I have no clue how to use the Array I mean I don't
know where to put the code, I don't know how to write code for a
button to call an element from within the Array to do anything.
At this stage I think the best "help" would be to have an FLA
file that does what I am looking for. Then I can take that and
learn how it works. Someone had done that for me earlier but they
used Flash 8 which utilizes AS2 and I do not see how to transfer
that knowledge for use in AS3.
Their example had 4 buttons. By clicking on a button the
timeline would play to a given point then jump to the frame
intended. The Code for those buttons looked like this:

At first glance I would have thought this to be an easy task

Can I create a Flash button and use it to navigate to the next slide of a PowerPoint Presentation?

Hello all,
I've been having a bit of a hard time understanding how to get a button which I have created in Flash to navigate to the next slide of the PowerPoint presentation which it has been added into. I'm fairly new to Flash, so I believe that this is slightly out of my natural skill range, so hopefully someone will be able to help.
I understand that I somehow need to make use of fscommand in ActionScript, but I'm not sure how I can get Flash and PowerPoint to communicate between themselves. If anyone could write a walkthrough on how to do this, I would be bery grateful.
I'm using Flash MX 2004 7.0 and Powerpoint 2003.

Hi. Why not to make the whole presentation in FLASH? What you have to do is to import all the slides inside FLASH. Then place one by one in the stills and then create the code to make the stills advance and show the slides by means of the button. The code for the button goes as follows:
on (release) {
nextFrame();
to introduce this code make sure you press the button and no the frame.
Then in order to make the presentation open and cover the screen, no matter how big it is, you need to enter the following code in the first frame:
stop();
fscommand ("showmenu",false);
fscommand ("fullscreen", true);
You will need also a button to quit the aplication. This is the code:
on (release) {
stop();
fscommand ("quit");
Now write all of this in your application and let me know your experience. MamenFLASH$
