Vanishing Point VPE size control

I've looked. Is there a way to control the size of the vpe pngs?
I have a massive file, and would assume that the closer grid objects would at least be a decent size, but everything is getting crushed into a tiny PNG. Is there a preference setting somewhere?
I've tried to change the "save for devices" PNG setting to 1500K, but it hasn't had an effect on the quality of the VPE pngs.

I rendered the measurements to Photoshop but when you do it brings them in so small
you can't read any of the measurements.  Anyway to increase this font so you can read it?

  • Vanishing point export to .vpe

Vanishing point export to .vpe and opening in After effect is not possible any longer. Since Photoshop CC 2014 the PNG files are not right. I cannot open them in Photoshop as well. I tried it on 3 different computers. Is this a bug?

    Hi,
We just released an update that fixes this issue. You can find more information on the update here: Photoshop CC 2014.1 update now available

  • Vanishing Point filter, export for After Effects (.vpe) is disabled

I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended (ver 13.0). I can apply the Vanishing Point filter to a jpeg still and set/apply the planes but the Export For After Effects (.vpe) command in the drop-down menu within the VP window is greyed out. I understood this filter is a feature of the Extended version. Can anyone help explain why this is disabled? Much appreciate any advice.
    OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Hi, I'm having the same problem...all I want is to create perspective on this chinese temple I've masked out of a background. There are only two planes. Is the VP effect possible on this? Both planes are blue but the export button is still grayed out.

  • Why is Vanishing Point filter in the latest Photoshop CC creating PNGs that do not match the planes?

    Hi Everyone,
I've scoured the forums, as well as external sites, but not finding a solution.
Tried tech support, their ideas didn't pan out. Would greatly appreciate some guidance.
Every time I try to use VPE, the resulting mesh is fine (the dxf), but the PNGs
do not match the drawn planes at all.
For example, I'll use a file from wikimedia. (all images re-compressed for the forum)
I draw the right wall, make sure it is blue, then pull the floor.
Pull the floor and the left wall.
Pull the back ground (hard to see in the compressed image, but it is there).
    Pull the ceiling.
The completed planes.  Right wall was drawn, remaining were each
pulled out the of the previous plane.  All blue.  Entire image is covered.
Importing the VPE into After Effects CC.  Note the wonky textures.
Here are the actual textures (original PNGs compressed into JPEG for posting).
This is the background piece, note how the section of the image doesn't align at
all with the plane I drew.
Hope this issue is clear to all.  The mesh looks fine to me, just the PNGs are off.
I've successfully used the Vanishing Point filter extensively in previous versions of Photoshop.
I'm currently using Photoshop CC on OSX 10.8.4 running on a 15" PowerBook Retina.
I've tried the following to no avail:
    differing JPEGs
    drawing the floor first
drawing the first surface counter-clockwise and clockwise : )
    ensured all planes are blue
    disabled graphics acceleration under prefererences
completed uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled with clean performance/preference settings (did not import any previous settings).removed the "Adobe Photoshop CC Settings" folder as well.
Tried exporting a DXF, again mesh looks great, textures are wrong.
Ideas are appreciated because right now, I'm stuck : )

    GOT IT!!!!
After we eliminated Adobe settings, and the software, I started wondering what's outside that could be affecting VPE.
It's the resolution of the screen!  I have a MBP Retina.
Using SetResX, I cranked the resolution of my screen from the default retina 1440 x 900 to the hardware's native res of 2880 x 1800.
    THIS FIXED IT.
The resulting PNGs from the export perfectly match the planes (DXF Mesh).
So, I'm asserting that there may be a bug in the current release of PS CC where it is not compatible with the default retina resolution on the MacBook Pro.

  • Can't Move Text Into Vanishing Point Plane

For some reason, when I select text and attempt to paste it into a vanishing point plane, the selection ends up 200% longer than what it should be, and I can't move the text layer into the plane. Screenshot attached.

After you paste the text, (or anything previously copied to the clipboard before entering Vanishing Point) into Vanishing Point, there is no reason why you can't use Free Transform to scale it back to your required size, and aspect ratio.  If the text or object is too big, and the FT handles are outside the VP Plane, just drag it down so you can see the upper handles, scale it down, and drag it back into position.
Note: that when using FT Perspective on any object (I am talking about outside of VP) it tends to exaggerate the 'length' because that's how we would probably see the object in real life.  Perspective I just about the only time I actually right click and chose an option from within FT, because it is so easy and quick to Ctrl (Cmd) drag a corner or center handle.
Unfortunately you only get the basic FT options of size and aspect ratio from within VP, which is a pity because you can't distort your object to apparently wrap onto a curved surface.  I added some FT warp to this text before applying it from within VP.  I suspect I am missing a trick or two with VP as I don't use it very often, so I'd love to hear from someone who really has it under control?

  • Vanishing Point Exchange Reference

    Hi everyone.
I'm a total noob at After Effects, but I have been playing with it to manipulate some VPE files I created in Photoshop.
Does anyone know if there are any reference documents that describe what's under the hood in VPE? I can see that Photoshop exports a number of images and a .vpe file that is essentially an XML file containing all of the coordinate data. However, trying to figure out how the VPE works from the data is really tough, and I'd love to find some docs that explain what's going on.
    Thanks
    Phil

A visit to AE's Online Help, then typing in the two words vanishing point, yields the following:
    http://community.adobe.com/help/search.html?q=vanishing%20point&hl=en_US&lr=en_US&l=aftere ffects_product_adobelr&site=aftereffects_cs5_all&self=1&filter=0
You will find Help to be very searchable.  It's a fine reference work.  It stinks as a training tool, but it's great for reference.

  • Vanishing Point Help!!

Hi, I'm using Photoshop CS2 and have a really annoying problem with the vanishing point filter.
I am using vanishing point to add different carpet tile patterns onto the floor of a room set image. To do this I am creating the pattern in a seperate document as a birds eye view (this is quite a large file). I then copy this, open vanishing point and paste.
The annoying thing is after opening photoshop this method will work for the first 2 maybe 3 patterns but on the fouth the vanishing point filter just wont open. If i try to copy just half the pattern it will open and as i go on it then wont even open with half the pattern copied so i have to copy a quater of the pattern until it gets to a point where i have to restart photoshop and 'hey presto' it will now copy the full pattern over into vanishing point!
After each pattern I complete i make sure to purge the history and clipboard and i have no other programs open at the same time.
So my question is why will it work for the first three but not anymore?!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jeremiah,
Please mention the exact version of Photoshop that was used to create the VPE and also the version of After Effects that you are using with the details of Operating system.

    Vinay

  • Photoshop CS3 vanishing point help

i'm having a bit of trouble with the vanishing point filter.  this is the first time i've ever really used it to any extent so i must be overlooking something trivial or maybe it's just a program error...
anyway, whats happening is i'm trying to apply art to a box using the vanishing point filter, there is no problem with creating or editing the planes but as soon as i paste the artwork from the clipboard and try to position it to the front of the box it only wraps around two of the planes correctly and the third plane is cut off in an odd location and doesn't match up with the rest of the "box" i can't figure this out and i'm rather unsure what i should do about it seeing as how i've been unable tgo find support for this problem.  any help is greatly appriciated.  thanks.
    -Greg

I think it's how it calcualtes the plane area in relation to the original layer size vs. the "texture" resolution. What if you simply try to do this in multiple steps? I mean, some touchup is inevitable, so why not make it easy on you? The plane setup will remain active during a session, so it should be easy to make the required adjustments...

  • VANISHING POINT HELP - PHOTOSHOP / AFTER-EFFECTS

I've followed along with the Vanishing Point tutorials and can't get them to work, Ill create my image in Photoshop and apply the Vanishing Point filter, create 4 walls and a background, all blue grids, export the .vpe and load into AFX and I get distorted images that don't look like my scene, it appears that Photoshop is incorrectly slicing the images and so when loaded onto the geometry it doesn't look at all correct, HELP what am I doing wrong?
EXAMPLES OF HOW IT LOOKS IN AFX:

    Hi Jeremiah,

  • CS3: Vanishing Point won't work

I have a fairly large PSD (130MB) that I need to run the Vanishing Point filter on. I did it once, no problem. Now when I try I get an error:
Tried on two different machines, each with CS3 and 10 GB RAM.
What gives? Is there a less helpful error message in Photoshop?

I have had similar issues and this has worked for me. Copy the background layer, then create a new document, you will not need to do anything to the size because PS will use the size of the file you just copied. After it opens paste your image. If you need any other layers you can drag those over as well, but if you don't need them before you go into vanishing point I would wait until after you have run vanishing point just to be safe. For some reason creating this new document seems to do the trick, but I have found that sometimes, after I have worked on a file a while, the same thing will happen again. So you have to do the whole copy, new document thing again.
    Steve
PS: I have this issue on all three of my computers, Dual 2ghz GD, Quad 2.5ghz G5, and 8 Core 3ghz Mac Pro. I have 18 gb ram on my 8 Core and my scratch drive is a raid 0 and consists of 6 15k drives striped over 2 channels. So it's not an issue with scratch or not enough ram.

  • After Effects Vanishing Point Error

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavillion with 4 gigs of RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2.13 GigaHertz per core. When I try to import a .VPE (Vanishing Point) file I did in Photoshop, After Effects, gives me this error:
"Unable to execute script at line 280. Uncaught Java expression:
SyntaxError: XML error in line 46.
    - Not well-formed (invalid token)"
What does this mean and how can I fix it?

This should not come up at all. It looks like Internet Explorer is having a hold over your XML files and tries to generate a preview of them whenever they are accessed. As a temporary measure I would chnage the file handler association to another program such as the Editor or Wordpad. Also look into updating your Java. With these complex interdependencies everywhere, it's hard to nail down the culprit. If the error persists, have a look at the VPE fiel and tell us what actually is the content of that ominous line 280 and the successive lines in your VPE file. Simply copy&paste the text here (open it in Editor or Wordpad).

  • Vanishing point problems?

I am using CS3 on a 8 core Mac Pro with 16gb ram and a 6 drive RAID for scratch. Right now I am running Leopard but I had the same problem with Tiger. I am having issues with vanishing point, 90% of the time after I will get this message "The operation could not be completed". This happens a couple of seconds after I select this plugin. I know that it can be sensitive with large files, but usually my files are only around 500mb. I tried flattening the files and I still got the same message. If I copy this flattened file and paste it into a new document vanishing point will usually work, but if I continue to work on the file I will end up getting that message again. This is with only 5 layers and a file size of roughly 13"x16" @ 240dpi. If I open the same file in CS2 vanishing point works. I also have two other macs, a 2.5 Quad G5 and a dual 2.0 G5. I have this same problem on these computers as well. Of course I tried all of the usual fixes, repair permissions, trash prefs, etc., and still have the same issue.

I had Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 unexpectedly quit on me about an hour ago while working with Vanishing Point on a fairly simple file--2 layers, one layer with the art I was using Vanishing Point on. I had just created one plane and was pulling out a new plane from it and ZAP! This is on a Mac Pro 3 Ghz running Tiger 10.4.11, with 4GBs of RAM. My post from yesterday was from a similar Mac Pro running Leopard 10.5.2, 5 GBs of RAM.
