Verizon Makes $90 screw-up and tells us it's our fault

I have a family plan with myself, my wife, my mom and dad.  Last December my Dad got a new phone and had it activated at the verizon store.  He also opted for the 6.99 Asurion insurance. After leaving he kept getting calls from people asking for my wife.  He went back to the Verizon store and they realized they screwed up and activated his phone with the wrong number (my wife's).  They fixed this and he went on his way.
Fast forward 11 months to November and my dad's phone gets broken.  No worries, he has the fancy insurance so he goes to use it and he is told his phone has no insurance at all.  I start looking into it and realize for the past 11 months his 6.99 insurance was going on my wife's phone from when verizon screwed up.  I call verizon the first week of November and am told they will try to get Asurion to swap the plan to his phone and to call back in a few days.  A few days later I call and explain the situation all over again to a very helpful lady but it's obvious nothing was done on the previous call.  They said they will NOW submit the claim to Asurion but they didn't expect the insurance company to accept the claim  (Why should they?  Verizon is the one who screwed up).
I called today to find out Asurion had denied the claim (no surprise).  I then said the very least they could do is refund us the money we've been spending for insurance on that phone (approx $90) that was never applied to the right phone due to their screw-up.  They called later in the day to say they would only refund 3 months worth because we should have been checking our bill.  I do check my bill when there are overages but excuse me I didn't think to check for Verizon's screw-ups!  So their screw-up is now my fault! 
Are there any other avenue's I can pursue to file a complaint to get back the money Verizon took from me for a service I never asked for (insurance on my wife's phone)?

Ya. I had found my bank screwed up over 3 years ago and it ended up costing me like $150 over those years, but they only went back 3 months and refunded me like $18. When I requested to withdraw every penny they sent me over to a V.P. for customer retention that asked me what he could do to keep me. I said give me my $132 you stole. He said no. I got my money and left that bank forever and told everyone I knew. The banks still there and I still tell my story. I'm sure it's cost them thousands of dollars of those that didn't get accounts there but apparently they didn't care.

    Hi zsefbhuk9and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    To change your sounds, go to "Profiles" on your device. You will then see the available profiles from which you can select - Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone only and Off. The current profile will have Active after it
    If you wish to keep the current profile active but want to modify the sounds, scroll down to the bottom and select "Advanced"
    Click the profile you wish to modify.
    Scroll down to "SMS"
    Select out of holster to either "None" or "Vibrate". This will ensure it does play any noises when a text is received.

    Those are the instructions for your computer's iTunes (i.e. using the Store menu at the top of your computer's iTunes and selecting 'View My Account' on it). If you are doing it on your iPad then are you following the instructions for iOS devices :
    To unhide your purchases
    Depending on the content type, open the App Store, iBooks, or iTunes Store on your device.
    Scroll to the bottom of the main page.
    If you're not already signed in, tap Sign In.
    Tap your Apple ID name, then tap View Account.
    Scroll down on the Account pane, and tap Hidden Purchases.
    Locate the item you would like to unhide then tap the Unhide button.

I don't know what generation it is or what ISO what ever that is, I use. It was bought for my son many years ago and he has moved on to the newer ones,lol. I do know it is bulkly and heavy,

    It probably needs service as it's indicative of a hard drive problem.

    Yes. The whole process of registering is messed up.
    No guarantee this will work, try unistalling and reinstalling. Uninstall has to be done the Microsoft way. Go to Applications / MO 2008 / Additonal Tools / Remove Office / Remove Office.
    Then reinstall the usual way. This might work.

  • Verizon installed a month ago and my land line phone won't work

    Had Verizon installed in December. My old internet/phone/cable provider raised their rates so I shopped around and went with Verizon. Soon after, my cordless phone would stop working. No dial tone and if someone tried to phone me, they would get a busy signal.
    I've called Verizon several times for a fix. First replaced the line from the phone to the jack, then had a technician come out who said everything was fine. Had another tech come out and replace the battery pack in the garage. The phone will work, then go static and nothing.
    I bought a new cordless phone, bought a new corded phone, bought a dsl filter..Nothing is fixing the problem. I went outside, plugged the phone into the box, made sure the wires were snug and voila the phone works...OUTSIDE. So now Im told its an inside wiring problem and I can a) add the inside wiring maintenance plan but can't use it for 30 days. b) call a technician to diagnose and fix the problem at $91 for the first 30 minutes and $46 for every 30 minutes thereafter.
    Never had phone problems with Brighthouse. Not sure why now suddenly it's the house wiring when everything worked before Verizon. I don't have a cell phone so the land line phone is my only way of communicating. Does anyone have any tips or solutions? I feel like Im getting royally screwed here. This sucks, wish I never shopped around, wish I never switched providers.

    Verizon installed FIOS last Thursday (Jan 30).  Friday and thru the weekend I had no dial tone.  Since Verizon makes it impossible to talk with a human being, I had to email customer service.  Even telling them I'm disabled with no cell phone, never heard back until today (Monday),  Eventually went through "wifi" customer service, had on-line chat & upon informing him of my disability he said he'd immediately transfer me to get the issue fixed on Friday.  Nothing.  I called the 888 number this morning to ask for assistance.  They sent a technician out.  First tech installed to incorrect outlet (when I turn off laundry light, it turns off the back-up box, so it continually beeps).  Current tech told me to go to Radio Shack and purchase "a thing that will allow me to split the power; Radio Shack will know what I'm talking about."  Also, only one of my phones (circa 1980 model) works.   Even the cordless phones I had to purchase for Vonage no longer work.  Current tech said, "COSTCO has a great set of Vtec cordless phones that will work fine."
    When I made the request to return to Verizon I was told I could return to copper.  I specifically requested that & after research the Customer Service person told me it was still available in my neighborhood.  Yet, when 1st tech showed up, told me that was not true & I "had to go to FIOS."
    So, Verizon installed a FIOS network I did not want, REQUIRING me to purchase phones I don't need.  In fact, all of my corded phones worked just fine previous to FIOS!
    As much as I detested Vonage I'm already to leave Verizon.  Next step, Virginia Utilities Commission.

    This is one organization that I will never do business with agan. You live and learn these days!!  They are insisting on charging me the early termination fee of $110.00 even though Verizon DOES NOT offer service in the area I am moving to this August.  My conversation with them today started like this:........ I asked if they had service at my new residential address. They indicating they did not and then I was immediately transferred  to their "disconnect" department.   In this "disconnect" department.....  I was told I would have to pay that termination fee anyway regardless of the fact that Verizon does not offer service in that area.  This was stated per someone named "Jay" representing Verizon....  This Jay  would NOT even consider waiving the termination fee at all...  so I asked to speak with his supervisor and got some complete jackass named Freddy who also  tells me I must take the HD Set Top boxes to a "corporate" UPS location and that they will not waive my termination fee just because??   So I asked for his last name... which he did not give me... but did give what he said was his employee ID number.  ( who really knows if that was a legitimate ID number anyway)  So why is it that  they would not  be willing to waive the fee??  For me ...it  is simple to explain..... Because I complained about  it.... that is why!!   Verizon is very wrong here and this "Freddy" character should be immediately fired.  The company's customer service  does need an immediate overhaul....  and this Freddy  guy is playing with the good name of what once was a very reputable company.   However... now.... because Verizon  have no legimate process for immediate or quick complaint resolutions,  they are  quickly becoming a company that many people do not want to do business with anymore.  I had a similar experience with  Verizon Wireless as well;  when I cancelled their service earlier this year..... It is not that the fee that bugs me so much.... even though it makes little sense......It is Verizon's lack of professional customer service and the questionable ethics of many of this company's representatives that has left such a distaste that I will never do business with them anymore.  Just my 2 cents... for what it might be worth.

    I have also had horrible service with Verizon customer service and their ETF.  I moved to a new area that Verizon fios does not cover.  When I moved into the new house a few weeks ago, I attempted to cancel their service, but I was told I had to keep it until my phone number was ported to Charter.  I called Verizon to cancel my internet/Fios TV only and they said it would be taken care of.  
    Charter sent a request to them on 11/24/14 to port my phone number and Verizon denied the request a week later.  I initially thought it was Charter messing up the port but come to find out, it was Verizon.  I called Verizon on 12/08/14 and I was told they denied the port due to an "outstanding" bill.  Well that bill was for the month in advance, which doesn't make sense because I had already canceled the service.  So they were charging me for the phone, internet, and TV at an empty house.  Verizon made me pay the bill so I could get my phone number ported. I paid the fee and they said the the number  was ready to be ported.  On 12/10/14 I received a call from Charter saying Verizon denied the port AGAIN!!!.  So I called Verizon and according to them, Charter never requested the number.  That doesn't make sense because I’m sure Charter is doing everything they can because they aren't being paid until that number gets ported over.
    I asked the Verizon agents to give me something in writing so I could put it back on Charter but they refused to do so.  (Charter gave me written proof documenting Verizon denying the port, so I know Verizon was lying.)  So after dealing with Verizon and their laziness I canceled my phone number, which will cause me a lot of heartache in the future.  The agent then asked if I was canceling the FIOS TV and Internet.  I told him it should have already been canceled, but it wasn't.  So they said it will cancel today after they already took my money for the month.  
    I asked to speak to a supervisor and they agent said, "Why, she wont be able to do anything."  I asked him again and he finally agreed to transfer me over.  After a 10 minute wait a lady named Karyn I believe, answered the phone.  I explained to her how my phone number was not being ported and she said "We don’t block a port, Charter must have messed it up.”  I asked her for written documentation and she refused to provide me with anything.  I explained to her the reason why I had to move into a new house, due to work and my safety and she said, “Well if your military I could help you but I’m sorry I cant.”  She said the only way to get out of paying for the ETF, is if I was deployed over seas fighting a war.  Then she said if someone were to die, she could waive the fee...thats ridiculous.  
    I asked her if I was going to have to pay for the past few weeks of my service, even though I tried to cancel it and they held up my order and she said, “Ill credit you $11.00.”  Thats nothing when my bill is $150.00 a month.  She did nothing to help even though Verizon dropped the ball on this.  Over all I am very disgusted with the employees and supervision with Verizon and I will most likely never to business with them again, unless they admit their mistakes and make it right.  I have given them thousands of dollars and hours of my time and this is how they repay you.  Oh and by the way, they want me to drive down to the UPS store and return their boxes for them.  So they can inconvenience me further.

    Two of our lines are out of contract next week.  We've been with VZW since the Airtouch days in the mid 90s.  Our current plan for 3 users (700 minutes, 2 text messaging bundles of 250 each and 1 phone on unlimited data) runs about $110 a month.  That's with corporate discounts.  We want to add another smart phone (2 GB $30 a month) but we've discovered doing so will raise our bill to $140+ per month.  The total cost over two years would be $3410 (including phone costs of about $50 in taxes by getting something like a Moto X).
    After doing some comparison shopping we've ordered two Nexus 5 phones.  On t-mobile with a corporate discount we'll get unlimited talk/text, 2.5 GB on two smartphones (5 GB) and .5 GB on a dumbphone (or smartphone) for less than $100 a month.  Year one we'll be paying more considering the upfront costs of the Nexus phones ($750)  But early in the second year we'll be saving money.  And of course we'll have far more minutes and texts than we currently enjoy.  By the end we'll have saved over $300 next year. 
    We've done the math on VZW with the same features (unlimited talk/text,5.5 GB) and even with discounts we'd be looking at $170 a month!  When I've addressed this with VZW customer support they tell us the network is better (I tested a t-mobile phone for 2 weeks and it performed perfectly for my day to day routine) and that we must buy our phones.  Yep, figured that into the equation already.  So far, nobody on the VZW side has mentioned a monthly credit to make up for the large price discrepancy.
    Comparing like to like we see a gap of ~900 over two years. 
    In years past VZW would give loyal customers $100 extra toward a phone and made other overtures to retain us. Am I wasting my time by calling into VZW and asking them to match t-mobile's offer?  Guessing the answer is yes.

    So you got a quote for 3 lines from T-Mobile but your whole goal in the first place was to add a 4th line correct? And even so, DirecTV and home internet providers do offer loyalty discounts. But that's because they offer subsidized plans in the first place. VzW and most cell carriers do not offer subsidized plans, they offer subsidized phones. With that said, they 99% of the time will not add discounts to a plan that never had discounts in the first place (Minus your company discounts).
    Why did you get a 3 line quote when you wanted 4 lines? I feel like with a 4th line on T-Mobile it won't be much cheaper that $140+ but I'm not familiar with their plans so I don't know for sure. And you do get what you pay for. Verizon has the best Nationwide coverage. If T-Mobile offers good coverage where you need it and does have a cheaper price, just switch. It would be a lot easier than trying to convice VzW to offer an extra discount.

  • An Open Letter to Verizon about Android 2.2 and Fascinate

    Dear Verizon,
    I purchased my Samsung Fascinate phone from one of your stores last September.  I distinctly recall the sales rep saying that Android 2.2 would be available within the next 2 months.  As everyone knows, Android 2.2 is much anticipated, particularly due to its support of Adobe Flash.  We are now into the second week of March 2011, and there is still no Android 2.2 available.  It is particularly frustrating that Android 2.2 has been pushed to other Samsung Galaxy S phones, but not to the Fascinate.  I believe that Verizon has really dropped the ball on its customers.  Another source of frustration is the fact that Verizon has steadfastly refused to provide any sort of information on when, or if, Android 2.2 will ever be available for the Fascinate in an official, supported form.
    I would like Verizon to do the following:
    1)      Give us an estimated release time (not necessarily date) for Android 2.2
    2)      Inform Fascinate customers on what the technical hurdles are and when and how they should be addressed
    3)      Or, be frank with your customers and tell us you don’t want to be bothered anymore with the Fascinate
    If you want an idea of how badly this whole Android 2.2 non-availability issue has damaged your relationship with your customers, I suggest you log onto your online Forum for Fascinate Users.

    I installed the verizon leaked 2.2. Everything works perfect, including flash. Same UI as we have now. Phone is better in every way. I will include the link so you can do the same. Very easy, don't be scared. Enjoy
