Verizon marking my outgoing email as spam; thanks, thanks a lot

Is anyone else as sick as I am of Verizon's "know more than you" "big brotherish" attitude to us customers.
I'm trying to send email (not mass, just one email) to a client, and Verizon marks it as spam.
This is a critical email the customer is expecting.  Couple of links in the emai.
Fios is nice, but not THAT nice if I can't even send a freakin' email... I might as well go back to Earthlink or Cox!  In fairness, about 95% of my outgoing email goes through just fine, but 2-3 times per week, when I send an email to someone, I get the dreaded {word filter avoidance}response from Verizon which says...
and yes, i send the "offending" email off to the {word filter avoidance} genius people at [email protected], but can you contact these ivory tower {word filter avoidance}?  No.
No, the only thing we can do is hope and pray these jerko**s unblock us and let our email get through.
Verizon, if you're listening...{word filter avoidance}

This is not a personal attack, but your answer “free email solutions” doesn’t fly.
I pay for email service from Verizon. The cost of Verizon e-mail is built in to the dsl service.
Yes, e-mail from Verizon is advertised as a “free” service. However…
You can only get that “free email” if you purchase service.
And that’s not free.
http://www22.verizon.com/home/fiosinternet/
First, the good news:
I rarely get spam from the Verizon server (I have 6 accounts/sub-accounts thru Verizon, using outlook express, 1 or 2 spam a month).
The bad news:
I have enhanced dsl and have been experiencing random spam blocks.
Yes, I took the time to read the spam faqs and dozens of the postings in this forum.
Yes, I have the latest setting for outlook express http://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/Internet/fiosinternet/email/setup+and+use/questionsone/...
Yes, I know the e-mail limits, 100 names per e-mail, 500 e-mails per hour
https://my.verizon.com/central/vzc.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=vzc_help_policies&id=EmailPolicy
Yes, I have repeatedly sent the same email to [email protected]
I understand the difficulty of filtering spam, but it seems there should be means test that says if I send 1 email to 1 person, that’s probably not spam. After all, if the spam filter is really just a program, then it is using a numerical assessment, and the parameter has been set to ignore this..
Thank you for your time to help, but telling paying customers we don’t really have that good  of service  as we advertise, isn’t a solution, it’s an excuse.
Respectfully,
Norm
As a fellow paying customer (note that this is a peer-to-peer forum), I'm not making excuses. I'm stating facts. There are free email offerings that are better than ISP provided email. Period.
If you want to use Verizon's email, that's your choice. If you want to switch to another ISP and use their sub-par email product, that is also your choice.
It just doesn't make sense to me to trade excellent internet for not-as-fantastic internet just to use a "better" email product when there are actual better email products available for free that are not ISP-dependent.

  • Verizon filtering OUTGOING email as spam now

My sister sent me an email with a home listing of a house she wants to buy.
I tried to forward it onto other people that I know.
However, I get this from Verizon's mail server:
9:58:43 PM S:550 5.7.1 The message you attempted to send was determined to be spam. Please visit http://www.verizon.net/spamfaq for more information.
Seems all of a sudden Verizon has determined that they'll filter their outbound email for spam, you get NO recourse if they falsely identify something as spam, you cannot call, contact anybody about it and all verdicts are final.
This is the last straw.  In 6 months when my contract is up, I'm switching back to Road Runner.

    So I'm guessing you're using verizon.net email?
You're going to switch to RoadRunner and use their email now?
You'll have to service, sign up for new service, and equipment/etc..etc just to switch email accounts just to fix a "spam" issue,
Why not just use a better email provider?
Use gmail or something, then your email itself isn't tied on your ISP.

    Hi
I think you have encountered a problem that all of incoming mails were treated as SPAM. The information that you provided indicates that these mails were marked as SCL rating 9 which will be deleted, rejected or
quarantine . However, normal mails should be mark as SCL-1 and these mails usually  can be forwarded.
Please check the configuration with following steps:
What are the allow words or block words you defined before ?
How did you dispatch SCL rating  for different mails ?
How were the mails treated in each SCL rating

  • All Outgoing Emails Marked as SPAM

As of today, the primary PC we have used for years for our main .net account has all outgoing email marked as spam and blocked. Even single addressee, no content emails are bounced back as SPAM. I can still receive on the primary PC, and still send from other devices with the same account. I have deleted and re-added the account on the PC to make sure the server and port settings are current to no avail. Any thoughts on what might have happened?

As stated in the Spam FAQ page, you will not get any response when sending the message to [email protected] for review. You attach the message that you are unable to send, and they review it. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the filter will either be updated to allow the content that was previously blocked, or it will be determined to be a legitimate block and no changes will be made.
Some troubleshooting steps you can try:
If you have a signature, try removing one line at a time from it and attempting to send the message again. Some signatures look like "ads" to the filters, apparently.
If you are using a pop3 client (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) try sending your message from the verizon.net website. If this resolves the issue, then it is something that your client is adding to the message that is causing it to be blocked.
If the Subject line of your message has a whole bunch of "Fwd: Fwd: Re: Fwd:" try removing some of them.
Remove any links/URLs from the email one at a time to isolate if one of them is causing the block.
Some people have suggested sending the message to [email protected] for investigation. This may work for you as well.

  • How can I mark an email as SPAM without "opening" it?

When I go to "the cloud" to read my email, I might see spam there.
But when I click on the email message to mark it as spam or even
delete it, I've "opened" the email.  I don't want to do that, right!!!
So how can I mark it as spam *or* delete it without "opening" the
    email in question.
    Thanks!
[and oh, by the way, since moving to the cloud, I've gotten lots of
spam -- something I almost never got with me.com.  just fyi...]

You need to have the account set up as IMAP or Exchange (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc. automatically do this if you choose that option when you create the account). POP3 accounts do not supporting synchronizing between clients and the server.

  • Chinese characters in outgoing emails become question marks

Hi, all. My AT&T Blackberry Curve 8900 loaded with the AT&T East-asian rom can read and write Chinese, in IM, email, webpages. There is only one problem with the outgoing emails. I can compose an Email in Chinese and send it. The email is displayed correctly on my phone, but when shown up in the receiving email-box, all chinese characters will become question marks.
I am using Hotmail - I don't know whether this is some problem with the server.
    Thank you in advance.

  • How do I mark outgoing emails as urgent or important with iPhone 5C?

Hi all, I'd like to know how to mark outgoing emails as urgent or important using the iPhone 5C.  I currently have iOS 7.1.1.  The only thread I saw on this was from 2012  (saying that the feature doesn't exist) so I'm hoping the status has changed.
    Thank you!

Thank you, good to know it isn't possible. The usefulness is more in terms of the interface with other email software (like Outlook), which can sort and send reminders about messages based on importance. Android phones support this so let's hope Apple can keep up!

  • None of the commands (eg attachments) on the insert bar for outgoing emails is working - what can I do? Thanks, Drummond

I suddenly cannot insert attachments to outgoing emails in Windows Live Hotmail. If I click on attachments or any other tool in the insert bar, nothing happens. My wife's hot mail account on the same computer, using the same version of Firefox, works fine; my account works fine when I use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. How can I fix this?
    Thanks for any help.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • How do I mark unwanted emails as spam

how do I block unwanted emails     Better yet!!!!  how can I mark unwanted emails as spam?
    Kathleen

    Who is the email carrier?
Gmail app has an option to mark each email as Spam.
In the desktop Yahoo, AOL, etc, there are Spam controls you can use, and emails go to the Spam folder on the phone.
If the mail app you are using doesn't have an option to mark as Spam, then go to your computer and see if you can set up Spam controls for the email there.  When the app syncs it should filter the spam according to the rules you've set up on your computer.

I would like to remove my photo from all outgoing emails on my IMac. Could someone help? Thanks.

I am guessing that you are referring to the image that Mail puts next to the headers - this is what is in your Address Book, and is just there for convenience.  Your photo is not sent with any message unless you attach it via a file or otherwise include it in the message contents.

  • Windows Live Mail 2012 - Outgoing Email Times Out due to Lost Server Connection

Using Windows Live Mail 2012 on WIN7 64-bit.
Been receiving emails seemingly without issues, but...
Haven't been able to POST any outgoing emails now since September 16th for any of my main/sub accounts.
Indicator is a Norton Internet Security popup stating:
"Email Error. Your email message was unable to be sent because the connection to your email server was interrupted. Please open your email client and resend the message from the Sent Messages folder." Then it lists the from/to/subj.
I recompose and try to resend; same results.
I've rolled WIN7 back to September 6th, but results are the same.
I thought perhaps NIS was blocking the SMTP port, but same results when I turn off NIS and Antivirus. I don't see anything of significance in NIS's logs.
Of course, Verizon's mini-app that sniffs out and corrects email problems does not know or care about Live Mail. Just Outlook and OE.

    Why don't these match?

The changes to pop/smtp from incoming/outgoing have been in the works for a while. Maybe Verizon finally go around to disabling the old servers?
Either way, you should update to the latest settings.
For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No or Normal

I've checked server, service and all seem to be functioning well. Outgoing mails worked for only the first 4 days. I hadn't changed settings, until yesterday trying to fix the problem. Mail version 5.1 is the one installed and in use. I do not have an idea of what more to do!

I use Timewarner as my internet provider. My email through them is [email protected] I have a gmail account: [email protected] Many times when I use Thunderbird to send emails they get bounced back to me with messages telling me they're spam (they're not). Sometimes they end up in the recipients junk folder but many times they simply disappear. If I go to the Timewarner website and send the exact same email from their server it gets delivered properly. Same with gmail. It's as if Thunderbird is making my emails into spam. The recipients that I'm having trouble with do not have me marked in their spam filter. Also, it's with recipients that I've had no problems in the past-it's just suddenly they can't receive my emails. Sometimes it clears up on it's own. Other times it comes and goes. I've been using Thunderbird for over 10 years and it's only had this issue for the last year or so.
Also, possibly related, sometimes when I write a long emails and send it I get a message saying "attaching" even though there's no attachment. The email won't get sent. If I copy the email text, cancel the original, and resend it quickly it goes through. I have done several virus checks and everything seems clear.
