The IP defined in RFC 791 was the first widely-used version of the Internet Protocol. Interestingly, however, it is not version 1 of IP but version 4! This would of course imply that there were earlier versions of the protocol at one point. Interestingly, however, there really weren't. As I mentioned above, IP was created when its functions were split out from an early version of TCP that combined both TCP and IP functions. TCP evolved through three earlier versions, and was split into TCP and IP for version 4. That version number was applied to both TCP and IP for consistency.

USRP USB version with TCP connection
Hi all
I have the USRP USB based version. I tried to download the LabView driver but it doesn't work for this USRP model. (I have the old and cheap black one). Well, then I realized that I could make up something to make it work.
If we design a gnuradio piece of code that takes the sampled signal and puts it in an UDP or TCP port in order to be obtained by a Labview program then we will have the chance to process the signal using Labview.
Well, that's exactly what I did, but nevertheless it doesn't work. I've tried to solve it by changing the server and client roles in both pieces of code but It doesn't work. It seems like they start to make the "conversation" but then everything goes bad. Gnuradio piece of code says this: "Connection reset by peer"
So communication never starts but they can reach each other.
I think that maybe the issue could be related to the "bytes to read" option in the "TCPread" feature in the labview code.
Does anyone tried this?
Does anyone have an idea?
Why NI doesn't give me a new USRP as a present?
More info: This two pieces of code are running in the same computer and "talk" using the loopback direction (127.0.0.1).Hi!

Well, this two pieces of code are quite simple but if you want I'll upload them.
Right now we have this scenario:
1. Labview is working as a server, listening at 28801 port.
2. Python GNU radio code works as a client that connects itself to 28801 of 127.0.0.1
The source of the signal is an AWGN source (It isn't the USRP right now because it doesn't make any difference for this purpose).

How to re-flash a bricked WRT310N back to the correct firmware version
I accidently flashed my WRT310N version 1.0 with version 2.0 firmware. After which the router was dead as a doornail.
After a frustrating 3 hours of reading forums, following over 11 tutorials, and being 1 second away from throwing my WRT310N at the wall, I finally fixed it.
I performed this fix on a Windows 7 32-bit PC. My provider is Comcast.
STEP 1:
Visit http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT310N and click on the DOWNLOADS tab.
Select Version 1.0 firmware from the drop-down menu.
Download the appropriate firmware. At this time this was posted, the version is 1.0.10 build 2.
SAVE the firmware to your desktop.
Download TFTP2.exe and SAVE it to your desktop.

STEP 2:
Open up a command prompt by going to the start menu, type "cmd" and hit enter.
You should see C:\Users\abc> (where "abc" is your username).
Type in ping -t 192.168.1.1 -w 10 but DON'T HIT ENTER yet. Just have it ready so you can press enter later.
STEP 3:
Launch TFTP2.exe located on your desktop.
In the "server" field type: 192.168.1.1
Leave the "password" field blank.
In the "file" field, browse to the firmware file you previously saved to your desktop.
Set the "program retry" to 10 times. (any number above 10 is fine)
DON'T HIT UPGRADE YET. Just have it ready so you can press upgrade later.
STEP 4:
Go to your Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections.
Right-click on your active "Local Area Connection" and go to "Properties"
Highlight the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" item and then click "Properties"
Change the automatic settings and set a static IP of 192.168.1.2. Hit OK and back out of the network settings.
STEP 5:
If your router is farther away from your computer, try to pull it within reach of the mouse and keyboard. You will need to multi-task once pinging/flashing begins.
Make sure you only have one ethernet cable connected from your PC to the router. The cable should be connected to any one of the 4 blue ports. I connected mine to port 1. DO NOT CONNECT IT TO THE YELLOW INTERNET PORT on the router.
With the router in your hand, hold down the reset button for 30 seconds until the port 1 light goes out then immediately disconnect the power while still holding down the reset button. DO NOT LET GO OF THE RESET BUTTON!
WAIT 30 more seconds with the power disconnected. (Do not let go of the reset button)
PLUG the power back in and WAIT another 30 seconds. After that, let go of the reset button. You should have held the reset button for a total of 90 seconds. This will wipe the router's nvram.
STEP 6:
PREPARE FOR FLASHING!
Bring up the command prompt window that you prepared earlier. You should still see the ping command that you entered in Step 2. Now, hit ENTER to start pinging the router continuously. You will probably see a bunch of "request timed out" responses.
Bring up the TFT2.exe window that you prepared in step 2. Press UPGRADE so it can begin communicating with the router. Make sure you set at least 10 retries.
As quickly as possible, go back to your router and HOLD the reset button and disconnect the power. You don't need to wait 30 seconds...5 seconds is enough. While stil holding the reset button down, plug the power back into the router and keep an eye on the command prompt and TFT2.exe windows.
If the command prompt has successfully pinged the router, TFT2.exe will begin to flash it and very soon it will show a success message below the progress bar. If you still can't successfully ping the router, close and restart TFT2.exe using the same settings and try disconnecting/reconnecting the router's power again as mentioned in the paragraph above. You may want to try holding the reset button down longer than 5 seconds. I was able to get this to work on the FIRST TRY. Hopefully it works for you.
WHAT TO DO AFTER SUCCESSFULLY RE-FLASHING YOUR ROUTER
Now that your router is has the proper firmware, go back to your adapter's settings (mentioned in step 4), delete the static IP and set it back to the default automatic settings.
Plug your cables back in and don't forget to plug the ethernet cable from your modem to the yellow internet port on your WRT310N.
Just to be safe, you should probably do these three things:
"Recycle" the power to your cable modem by holding down the reset for 60 seconds or disconnect it from the power outlet for 60 seconds.
Reset your router by holding the reset button for 30 seconds. (No need to disconnect the power while holding it.)
Restart your computer.

Handle 2 different versions of proxy in Sproxy
Hi,
We have two different releases going on and in XI we have mapped 2 different versions of proxy to 2 different SWVC. But when I generate the proxy in R/3 the proxy-interface name and Implementing class name are same in both the versions, so when I make changes to the newer version it is getting copied into the older version as well which we don't want to happen. Any idea how we should be handling 2 different versions for the same proxy?

For TCP*Extend there is a bit more leniency in the system, there are different protocol versions for TCP*Extend and some TCP*Extend protocol versions allow backward compatibility for a client running on the previous protocol version.
In short, you should always ask for confirmation from Oracle for specific version combinations.

SAP Netweaver trial version installation problem
Dear friends
I tried to install SAP netwaever tial version on my labtop. I followed the instruction excatly as shown in the website www.sdn.sap.com. the first confusing thing I faced that during installation of MS loopback adapter I found that the network adapter I cfreated dose not contain (internet protocol TCP/IP instead I had internet protocol version 4 TCP/IPv4. however I used it and do IP address as specified. then I continue installation and when I finished I didnt find the following in my start up menu Programs u2013> SAP NW 7.01 ABAP Trial Version u2013> NSP. only a SAP Management Console was installed. Now I tried to uninstall SAP netweaver from my system in order to reinstall again, but I couldn't uninstall completely and each time I tried to reinstall the system keep give me waring massage that SAP already installed. even I used the registery clean tool but still facing the problem.
Please help me to completely uninstall all the SAP component from my system in order to installed it again.

Uninstall first." I need a way to remove the remaining SAP . I uninstall every folder I saw in my harddrive related to SAP and also I used registry clean tool bt still I face the problem

I originally posted this question to the community section and was advised to post it here. Please bear with me as this will be a long post. I'm including the scenarios involving this reoccurring issue, the trouble shooting steps I've already
taken and the results of several diagnostic tools and logs.
I have a Sony VAIOS VPCEBB33FM lap top since 2011. I have had this issue on an off for a long time. I'm at my wit's end. Any new insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Scenario Details
1) Some times it's on and off through out the day, sometimes it won't work all day, and once in a while it will work fine for the entire day.
2) I've had this issue across several wireless services, Clear Network accessed with WiMax, Library Wi-fi, Comcast cable internet using wireless router and Wi-fi, and Comcast Xfinity Wi-Fi, to name a few examples.
3) Other devices in the household or library will work with no problems such as my smart phone or my roommates' laptops or desktop computers.
4) Once in a while, the built-in wireless adapter is not found and I have to reinstall the driver. Also the diagnostic tool has had to reset my adapter on an increasing basis.
5) I had my hard drive replaced in December 2014 and my system restored from the System Restore disks that came with it when I bought the laptop. Even though I've been online on an infrequent basis it worked just fine for a while. Now that
I've been online a bit more I'm having the same issues again.
Below are my attempts at trouble shooting so far but I still have not been able to consistently resolve my DNS issues
1) Restarting my adapter
2) Turning off my laptop and removing the power supply for 5-10 minutes before turning it back on.
3) Using the IP Config in Command Prompt

4) Using the NetSh reset in Command Prompt and restarting my laptop

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click Properties.
I have used the following settings:
a) Obtain an DNS server address automatically

c) Google DNS

8 8 4 4
6) Updating the driver for my Intel Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN and Intel Centrino(R) WIMAX 6250 from the Intel website previous having my laptop wiped clean in 2014. It still did not resolve the issue. My laptop
manufacturer as not come up with an driver update for my adapter since 2010. I haven't tried to update the adapter driver from Intel's website since having my laptop repaired due to the fact that Intel strongly recommending using the manufacturer's updates
instead and frankly it didn't make much of a difference when I did it the first time.
7) The last one I've tried as of today is going into Services and changing the start up type to automatic for the following:
Computer Browser [changed from manual to automatic]
DHCP Client [already set to automatic]
DNS Client [already set to automatic]
Network Connections [already set to automatic]
Network Location Awareness [changed from manual to automatic]
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) [already set to automatic]
Server [already set to automatic]
TCP/IP Netbios helper [already set to automatic]
Workstation [already set to automatic]
...and I'm still having DNS issues.
My only guessing are that my laptop came with a lemon adapter that needs to be replaced, some advanced setting(s) that I'm not aware off, or my firewall/anti-virus is interfering. I've used Symmantic Anti-virus and Firewall in the past and currently
Avast Anti-Virus with Microsoft Network Firewall. I've had DNS issues with both anti-virus/firewall set ups.

How to connect wi-fi connected laptop to the ethernet connected PC??
Hi,
System 1 - PC, connected to the router+modem with ethernet cable, mostly has static IP
System 2 - Laptop, connected to the router+modem with wi-fi, mostly uses DHCP
I want to connect these 2 systems in order to access the shared data & printer of PC in Laptop.
I tried to do this by doing the following on my laptop.
start -> run -> \\<ip address of PC>
But I got the error that "Windows cannot connect to the \\<ip address of PC>". When I diagnosed it, it showed that "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (<ip address of PC>) is not
responding".
How to connect now two systems?Hi,
Please take a try with the following steps:
1. Restart the router;
2. Reconfigure TCP/IP settings, Navigate to :
Start/
Control Panel/ View network status and tasks/
Networking and Internet/Change adapter settings/Local
Area Connection/Properties./Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)/Properties
set both IPv6 and IPv4 to Obtain an IP address automatically, select Obtain DNS servers address automatically, and then click
OK.
3. Run the below command in command prompt with admin rights:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Then try to connect the two machines again.

Open port issues with Direct Print functionality
Hi, I have been fighting with HP call support about the Photosmart 7525 printer.
Originally I setup and had performed all the functions to enable both web support and WIFI.
Within an hour the printer would not respond to wireless communication, though it had its wireless indecator showing it was connected.
I was told by HP support that the issue will be resolved in March, as there will be a firmware update to fix the issue.
Now that I had the printer install the new firmware I still get the issue.
Though I found through some sniffing, that there are a number of ports enabled and open that are over and beyond print requirements.
Funny thing I can send my printer into instant lockup with all lights flashing with a simple UDP ping sniff. I would think I can do this with other new HP printers using Eprint functions. I will find HP web based printers that are open for public printing and test my theory that HP Eprinters are open to hacking and denyal of service attempts. My Hp print app on andriod list three in my area, and one is at my local Walmart. This would be cool to find this, as I am usually not the first to point such matters out.
I assume some are for Apple devices to print.

I found that having the printer connect to a router that has been setup to use channel 5, 6 or 7 will cause port scanning issues with the printer.
It is obvious that there are 18 ports that are seen as open, whether they are used or not. Two of which are active but have no service connected to them. Some are just dead like port 25, but over half are active enough to recieve data and lock network connectivity within the printer.
As the firmware states some other laser jets may be affected depending on how the configuration can be set.
I moved my routers channel to channel 1 as it is the only other option I have in a highly congested location. It is not as good as channel 6, but the printer seems to have channel 6 locked in for direct printing.
Here is the latest full scan with UDP enabled, it is the furthest and most complete scan I am able to complete, with UDP ports enabled. The TCP port scan has a bit more and I have placed a simple list below the information given here:

Can't connect to my home network
Ever since I switched to BT I've never been able to access my home network via wifi but I can connect to btwifi with fon on my laptop.
It's never been much of an issue before but now I've started using my laptop more I would prefer to use my home network which is secure rather than a public one.
Windows will recognise there is a problem with my network but it's not been able to fix the error and it will only grant me local access to the network.
I have a 802.11g PCI adaptar in the laptop so that shouldn't be the problem. I have tried a 802.11g USB adaptar that I have for the PC on the laptop and funnily enough that will connect no problem. I don't like using the USB adaptar on the laptop too much for obvious reasons and I'm hesitant to spend more money on a new adaptar without knowing the reason my current one won't connect.

It could be that your computer has IPv6 selected. Try disconnecting it as follows:
Select Start
In the search field type.ncpa.cpl and press enter.
In the new window right click on your wireless network connection and select properties
In “This connection uses the following items” section remove the tick beside Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) then press OK
Left click on Internet Protocol IPv4, click properties . Check the options to obtain IP addres and DNS server address automatically.
Once done try and connect to internet. -
The last time I tried to use both the Airport Express and the Remote App was probably about 6 or 7 weeks ago, and they worked fine. However, with the current version, none of it is working. I've tried restarting, and reinstalling iTunes from scratch. I've rebooted the wireless router. Both devices are connecting to the network, getting DHCP leases, and can communicate over the network just fine for other means. The Airport Utility can talk to the Airport Express over the wireless, and the iPhone can reach everything else as well.
If I plug the Airport Express into ethernet, iTunes still can't see it. But I can still talk to it with the Utility.
Everything seems to indicate proper networking, and yet neither of them can talk to iTunes anymore. What changed in the software? Everything is the same with my network.Hi guys! I have just found a solution in a different thread - huge thanks to Toploader21120:
1) open control panel.
2)Choose Network and internet
3)Select the VIEW NETWORK STATUS TASKS under NETWORK and SHARING CENTER section
4) Choose the active network connection. It is usually name " wireless Network Connection 1" or something similiar.
5) Click the properties button
6) If the Internet PROTOCOL VERSION 6(TCP/IPv6) is checked, uncheck it, then click OK.
7) Click CLOSE
8) Restart iTunes and try to use the Home Sharing feature again.

I've spent days trying to resolve this issue on this laptop. I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my son, only to find that it's got a problem with wifi connectivity. What's crazy though is that it connects perfectly to my home router, and will connect perfectly at two different coffee shops/bakeries I've used for testing yesterday. But at a local Starbucks and at my sons work location (which is also a public hotspot) it only shows a 'limited' connection, and you get no Internet access. I was also told that it could see and connect to his iPhone in 'hotspot' mode or whatever, but couldn't get to the Internet thru that either.
Basics: Inspiron 15 (3421), Windows 8 x64 clean install, and all current Dell drivers installed (from the Dell site.)
Fwiw, I have a long tech background with computers and laptops, so I have no problem getting into and checking or resetting things. As I said, it has all the latest Dell drivers for everything on it, including the most current (as of today) wireless 1704 driver. Also, I've read numerous forum posts by others with similar problems, so I've seen many of the things suggested to try to fix wifi connectivity issues (i.e. set it to maximum performance, don't let the system turn it off, etc.) I'm still checking various posts for others ideas, but it's frustrating to have it working here at home and have to run up to a Starbuck to see if it's fixed or still flaky.
Even so, it seems to me that the evidence that it connects perfectly to some hotspot routers and my AT&T wifi router at home makes it pretty clear the hardware is fine. It does see all the hotspot routers and lists their names and it can/does connect and get an IP (verified via 'ipconfig /all'). So I think the laptop/wlan hardware is functional, but there's something wrong with the drivers or some setting that is enabled or disabled, or set wrong, that just doesn't communicate properly with some of the generic hotspot routers or configurations...like the 'Google Starbucks' hotspot down the street.
I think by now Dell must have a very good idea what the problem is, even if they aren't widely publicizing it for whatever reason. But I'd like to know what could make this thing not connect to some very public hotspot routers, and be just fine connecting to others. It has to be something set in the laptop that's making it overly strict or specific, such that maybe older routers won't work.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks...I can certainly understand the frustration. It's clear to me, after a week of trying to figure this out that not everyone's connection problem was the same as mine, but I do think that what I found was something that should have been near the top of the list in troubleshooting steps. It was hands-down one thing that would stop all internet connectivity under some circumstances..but would work in others...and would never be obvious to most people--especially considering the info below:
Tonight I went back to a different Starbuck's to double-check that it was now working at all of them. At this Starbuck's---which I'd been to before---I still got the 'limited' connectivity. Lo and behold, the network IP4 setting still had the faulty 192.168.1.254 DNS entry, with the check box to "use the following DNS server address", though I know I'd deleted it since things were now working at the other Starbuck's. I removed it, but when I went back and reconnected it still wouldn't connect...and the DNS entry seemed to have reappeared. I tried connecting and reconnecting, but it wouldn't get past limited connectivity. Then it hit me...
What I suspect now might be a problem is that if you ever tried to connect to the router at a location, and either remembered it or choose to "connect automatically", it must be storing the settings for that particular network/wi-fi connection. It seems logical in hindsight, but it had not occurred to me that each wi-fi connection you connect to (Starbucks..the book store..etc.) may save whatever network attributes you had set in there at the start, and if they're wrong, you're, well, dazed and confused to put it mildly. I think that's why my faulty DNS entry was still in there for this location.
So, I finally completely deleted the connection for this Starbucks (i.e. choose 'forget this network' from the wi-fi list) and let it be re-detected cleanly. Now when I chose to connect...bingo! Got through to the Starbuck's T&C page and could finally authenticate and go on.
To restate my experience: I'd tried all the 'advanced' settings changes that so many Dell 'Rockstars' kept telling everyone to change--I changed power settings, strict H, 802.11b, 2300, MAIN, AUX, aggressive, broader compatibility, blah, blah..changed the back, the back again. I reinstalled drivers, borrowed drivers from old Win 7 batches, and even tried some odd Broadcom drivers. Not one of those things made any difference, but not one rockstar every suggested being sure you don't have a bad DNS server IP in there.
(Fwiw...I did finally settle on the WLAN 1708 driver, which worked and is running in there now, though I think the original 1704 driver probably was working all along.)
The steps:
1) Connect to the router showing 'Limited' connectivity...then..
2) Right-click the wi-fi icon in the Windows tray (next to the battery icon) and choose "Open Network and Sharing Center.
3) Double-click the name of wi-fi connection on the right (in blue, next to the little green wi-fi bars.)
4) Click 'Properties'..
4) Scroll down and double-click on "Internet Connection Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
5) At the bottom, select ""Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically"....click "OK" and you're done.
You'll likely have been disconnected anyway, but best to just "Forget this Network" for this connection and let it be re-detected, and reconnect from scratch. Worked for me and I can now connect everywhere.

Computers can no longer see eachother & share resources
I have the wireless WRT54G2 router. I connect using my laptop wirelessly through the router. My desktop computer is connected through the router wired.
Laptop is Vista, desktop is XP. This is nothing new, and everything worked fine up until a few weeks ago. I was having connectivity issues and so I was trying all kinds of things to see if it would fix it, including power cycling my cable modem and (possibly my router as well.. this being a few weeks ago I don't remember). Finally I got my connection back up and running, and I remember noticing a message had popped up on the laptop (I think it was above the system tray in the same style with which the messages saying you're connected to the internet pop up) that said something about my ip address. I think this is the key to the problem. I wish I could remember exactly what it said. But it went away by itself, and I was able to access the internet just fine from both computers, so I thought nothing of it. (I should have known better.)
Today for the first time since that incident, I was trying to print something from the laptop using the printer that's connected to the desktop and is shared over the network, and realized I couldn't. Upon investigation I realized that now, I can't see my desktop at all under view computers and devices (keep in mind, I was always able to prior to the earlier incident). Being Vista, I figured there was some setting that got switched without my knowledge or something... and it wasn't that either. My network is still set as a private network with network discovery turned on. No firewalls got turned on. Checked my desktop's settings, nothing changed there that I can find, either.
I have been trying unsuccessfully to find a solution. My router's SSID matches the connection my laptop is connected to. The two computers have unique names with the same workgroup. They just cannot see eachother anymore.
I also noticed when i'm looking at the settings for my router under "Wi-Fi Protected Setup", it says it can't find my client device. After reaching 99% it says "Connection Failure! Your client device failed to connect to the network. Refer back to your client device for further instructions." I have noticed that the light over the button is sometimes steady green and sometimes is steady amber. I don't recall seeing it amber ever in the past. I don't know if this is relevant or not, just trying to include all the information I can. Can anyone else give me some clues? Thanks.I finally found the solution to my problem, if the ping works of course, then it is probably the same NetBIOS problem I was having. Here is the solution:
On the VISTA Machine:
1. Right click your adapter in the task bar at the bottom left
2. Select "Network and Sharing Center"
3. On the left side, click "Manage Network Connections"
4. Right click on the adapter you are using to connect to the network.
5. Select "Properties"
6. Highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
7. Click the button "Properties"
8. Click the "Advanced" button
9. Click on the "WINS" tab
10. Under the section "NetBIOS Settings", select "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
11. Click "Ok" on all configuration boxes to save settings.
On the XP Machine:
1. Open Control Panel
2. Double click Network connections
3. Follow steps 4-11 from above

Hi, My i photo events in the library have updated themselves with a key photo. I really do not want this picture as a key photo on every event. I backed up and deleted my entire library. After importing a fresh event, the key photo still remained the
