VG224 Ports - No Dial Tone

Every now and then a customer has a vg224 that the ports will just quit working. No dialtone. The workaround has been to reconfigure a new port and move the device but they will fail again eventually. Whomever set this vg224 up is using a combination og MGCP ports as well as SCCP ports. It seems the MGCP ports are the problem. But, I am running many vg224 with MGCP at many locations with no problems like this. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

When I run into that issue on a VG224 I put these commands with the port that has no dial tone and it corrects the issue. It is like if the VG224 does not hang up that port when the call is finished.
voice-port 2/0
no supervisory disconnect lcfo
disconnect-ack
no battery-reversal
Let me know if that helped.

  • Faxing - Modem Does Not Detect Dial Tone

    Hello Everyone,
I suddenly have a need to send and receive a Fax. I have a phone line plugged into the modem port on my G4 and on trying to send a text fax, not much happens. Error message to the effect that the modem is not detecting a dial tone. Same cable that works fine on the phone itself.
Can someone either help with an answer or direct me to a page with more detailed instructions than the "Help" file is providing?
    John

I have the same problem. I thought I would begin to use my several years old Powerbook to send a simple fax. As it is I have to use my old G3 to fax. Even with Faxstf pro on I still can't get it to work. Fax STF says that the modem is only set to receive and I just cannot change it in the settings. I've trashed the preferences and the program. I am at a loss after having spent a day trying to figure this out. I am on a dedicated phone line that works just fine. I would really like to just simply fax from my powerbook G4. The modem is as follows:
    Modem Model: LastDash
    Interface Type: USB
    Modulation: V.92
    SKU Name: UCJ
    Hardware Version: 4.0
    Firmware Version: APPLE VERSION 2.6.6
    Driver: InternalUSBModem.kext (v2.6.6)

  • FXO not giving the dial tone

    Hi,
We have FXO ports on the router and SIP trunk towards ITSP. People used to dial into FXO and get the dial tone to callout using the SIP trunk. But after the upgrade of the IOS, this functionality has stopped. Now if you call the FXO, you get busy tone. The IOS has been upgraded from 12.4(11) to 15.1(M4) to basically its a big leap.
I strongly believe that we need to make some configuration to make it work like before.
    Please advise.

Here is the new feature complied in 15.X release
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/15_1/release/notes/151-2TNEWF.html
    Toll Fraud Prevention
In Cisco IOS Release 15.1(2)T, the Toll Fraud Prevention feature is supported as below:
•Source  IP address authentication is enabled on incoming IPv4 H323/ or SIP  trunk calls. The source IP address of any incoming IPv4 H323 or SIP  trunk calls will be authenticated based on:
–Manually configured IP address trusted list.
–VoIP dial-peer session target (the state of a VoIP dial-peer must be in "Operation State = UP")
Incoming IPv4 H323 or SIP trunk calls will be rejected if the authentication fails and the default cause-code call-reject (21) disconnects the call.
Execute the show ip address trusted list command to  display IP address trusted data and a list of valid source IP  addresses. The default behavior can be disabled as shown in the example  below:
    voice service voip
    no ip address trusted authenticate
•Secondary  dial-tone is disabled for a call initiated from a FXO port. No  secondary dial-tone causes the outgoing call setup to fail if the called  number is NULL. The default behavior can be disabled as shown below:
    voice-port
    secondary dialtone
•Direct-inward-dial  is enabled to prevent the toll fraud for incoming ISDN calls. Two-stage  dialing is disabled for incoming ISDN calls by default. The incoming  called number will then be used for outgoing call setup. The default  behavior can be disabled as shown in the example below:
    voice service pots
    no direct-inward-dial isdn

  • Internal modem not detecting dial tone

I have an iMac G3 CRT 333MHz (Lime) which is having trouble connecting to my dial-up internet connection. I am fearing that my internal modem is 'burnt out', and am wondering if anyone out there has any additional troubleshooting tips, or any advice on purchasing a new external modem.
The trouble started after a lightning storm, which also disrupted internet connections for my roommate's PC (I don't know exactly how he fixed his, but he is connected via a DSL modem and says he simply restored some modem drivers). I have noticed, however, that he removed his 56k modem...
When I attempt to dial-up from my Mac, I get a message stating "Modem did not detect a dial-tone or the line is currently in use..." I have checked and double checked that the phone line does indeed have a dial tone, and tried connecting through through various outlets throughout the house. I've disconnected all other phone hardware (except the DSL filters) and reached the same result.
I am currently running OSX (10.3.9), and also attempted to dial out after restarting in 9.2.2. (Same result). After that, I dug out my install CD and reinstalled 10.3 (same result)
From each OS, I've run system profiler and recieved no unusual information about the internal modem. The computer definitely senses that I HAVE a modem (Apple Vsn 0007-1,9/2/1998 v.90) That modem simply can't seem to detect the dial tone.
I have also confirmed my modem settings, tried checking and unchecking the 'sound' and 'wait for dial tone' boxes. My internet provider is NetZero, so I have attempted to dial in using their software, as well as directly through Internet Connect. All attempts return the same message. (and the NetZero account is still active, I have accessed it from two separate computers).
Any thoughts out there if there are any further settings or or software/OS variations I should try? Or are my suspicions valid that the storm somehow fried the modem (there were no power interruptions during the storm... only modem troubles)
My next step might be to find an external modem. I've not seen any Mac-compatible 56k modems in stores. There is a Apple USB Modem in the Apple store, but it requires OS 10.4.3 and a computer 'without a built-in modem', so I don't think that will help me. I've also considered using Airport to share my roommate's DSL connection, but I believe that my model of iMac is not airport compatible...
I also have a dead iMac in the closet (DV model) with a blown ethernet port, broken fan, and damaged hard drive. I'm not above cannibalizing either machine to get the other working until I can afford a new G5...
Any thoughts, suggestions, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!!

The only thing I can think of is to go in to the modem settings and choose ignore dial-tone. That way even if it's not getting a good tone the iMac will continue to try to connect. This is also important if you have a voice mail system that varies the dialling tone whne you have a message as I know that stops my father's Win98 box connecting to the Internet unless the equivalent option is checked.
You can update your email address to a current one here. If the Apple ID (i.e. the one you login with) is old don't worry that's pretty irrelevant.

  • How do i turn off the dial tone?

    Hi all,
Whenever I start a new text chat, I get a dial tone that bogs down my computer. How do I hang up the phone and just do a regular text chat?
    Thanks,

    HI Jesse,
IN System Preferences > Network go to the Second drop down and bring up the Network Port Configurations.
If you deselect to Internal Modem can you still get on line and does the Dial tone disappear ?

  • An incoming call from VoIP. The SPA122 generate Dial Tone after the far end hung up rather busy tone.

    Hi All!
I have a problem with the SPA122 telephony adapter, uncorrectly process the subscriber signaling at the end of the call.
    1) Outbound call from FXS port SPA122 . When a remote caller hangs up first , the subscriber SPA122 Reorder Tone played with a delay specified in the Reorder Delay. This circuit is working properly.
2 ) Incoming call from VoIP to the SPA122. When a remote caller hangs up first , subscriber on the FXS port of the SPA122 hears silence ~ 3-4 seconds , then SPA122 plays Dial Tone, as if he had just picked up the phone and he 's going to call . No signal lights out (Busy Tone or Reorder Tone) will not play .
    Config is attached.
    Model: SPA122, LAN, 2 FXS
    Hardware Version: 1.0.0 Boot Version: 1.0.1 (Oct 6 2011 - 20:04:00)
    Firmware Version: 1.3.2-XU (014) Jul 2 2013

    Host Name: SPA122
    Domain Name: (none)
    Serial Number: CCQ16450LG3
However, other VoIP terminals registered to Huawei, including older versions of the Linksys SPA2102 work in these scenarios correctly.

  • 3rd week without a merged account, 5 days without dial tone

On Sept 26th, i added TV and PHONE to my internet account that i already had for two years
Verizon created the order and provisioned me with a temporary number until my phone number port from vonage came through.
ONT Line 1 was activated with the temporary number.
Weeks later i call and Verizon said that they needed to re-create the number port order from vonage, this time the rep said that i needed to create a type of order called a WINBACK phone number order. I explicitly said that they needed to make sure that the services need to come under ONE account for the triple play discounts, and for the additional features.
3 days later, number port came through from vonage, activated on ONT Line 2. The line had a whole new account number, and couldnt be seen on My Verizon, and also couldnt be seen on my TVs
I subsequently cancelled Line 1 so i wont be double billed
I called in to verizon to have them merge accounts, and this is where the whole saga began
Call verizon to merge accounts, they create ROC ticket
3 days later no change, call verizon again, they claim ROC ticket wasnt created originally. Will create new one.
3 days later no change, call verizon again, they claim that the ROC ticket was completed..
Techs escalated me to "Sales and orders" and got a lady in the 636 area code. Rep said that Digital Voice lines could NOT be merged in with TV and Internet accounts, and that  in order to "fix" the problem, she said that i needed to "cancel" the ported Line 2 number for a "day" while it purged through the system, and can be added to my primary account number. All the while she was saying that the original rep doing the WINBACK did it completely wrong and f-ed everything up. All the while she was trying to upsell me on the internet and service bundle, and trying to give me HBO and SHOWTIME on a trail basis. **bleep**. I dont need stinking channels. I just wnat my accounts merged.
As promised, she cancled my Line 2 account, and when dialing that number, for a day, i got a "number was disconnected" message. Also as promised, a day later, i got straight to voicemail on that number. So i knew that number was activated.
I STILL DONT HAVE DIALTONE, AND PHONE GOES TO VOICEMAIL ON 1 RING.Swaped lines 1 / lines 2 on the ONT. No change. SOmething is wrong with verizon's end. This was 10/21/2011
10/24 (yesterday) a tech shows up and leaves, telling me that the order was  "stuck in IVAPP" and i needed to call sales. Around the same time he was here, i got an email on my phone saying "service ticket has been closed" and the dreaded email  FiOS Revised Installation Appointment
10/31 is the revised date. At this point i am
What do i need to do to get a working dial tone on my line? This is becomming a safety issue as i do not have good (verizon) mobile coverage here, and also a big business liability for me as i use that number on my business cards for clients to call.
So far i have spoken to
    Fios Solutions Center
    Fios Elite
    Fios Order Support Group
    Fios Sales
    Fios Sales Manager
I need this order expedited and escalated immediately or else i have no choice but to call the PUC to complain about this. Seems like one hand doesent know what the other limbs are doing.

I'm sorry you are having difficulty. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue.
    ephatcow wrote:
Called Fios Elite, spoke to Jessica. After Jessica talked to her WINBACK department, she came back saying the system would not allow them to do anything with the order since it was pending. The reason why im calling is clearly BECAUSE the order was pending! grrrrrrrr
I aksed her about a credit to my account due to these problems, and again, she said that the "system that issues credits is down"
Why am i being held hostage to VZ's "system". THis is BEYOND frustrating.
    6th day, no dialtone.

  • I only got dial tone but can't dial local number

    Hi All,
We are upgrading our existing Cisco 3640 router with two nm-2v's with three e&m voice cards) to Cisco 3725 router from the central site( running configuration attached). The remote site uses the same 3640 router.
Before the migration, our VoIP connection from two sites works fine. Both sites used Cisco 3640(two nm-2v's and three e&m voice cards).
After we migrated the central site to Cisco 3725 router( one nm-2v installed with two e&m voice cards) using the same parameters on the Cisco 3640 router, we can only get a dial tone to the remote site but can't connect to the local number. We are using IOS Voice on the Cisco 3725 router(central site) version 12.3(8)T3.
Attached are the running configuration for the Cisco3640 and Cisco3725 router.
During the migration we have verified that the Analog E&M Hardware is recognized by the Router using the IOS Voice software by issuing the show version command .
We have also verified that all voice ports are active and verified the E&M signaling type, Audio implementation, Start dial supervision and dial method by issuing the show voice port command. The show voice port command was issued after configuring all the parameters mentioned. This parameters are based on the current config of the Cisco 3640 router to communicate to the PBX.
We have assumed the wiring arrangement between the PBX and the voice gateway(Cisco router) to be OK, since it is already running using the Cisco 3640 router.
We have also verified that the Cisco 3725 router is communicating with the PBX. By issuing the "debug vpm signal command", the supervision signaling or the on-hook/off-hook signals are being transmitted between the PBX and the router by lifting the phone handset and dialing the extension number of the remote site. But we only got a dial tone but could not dial the local number.
We have checked if the Cisco 3725 router is sending and receiving digits to and from the PBX or if the address information (DTMF digits or Pulse Dial) is being passed between both ends by issuing the "debug vtsp dsp command". But unfortunately the router debugging output shows no signs of digits being send and received between the two devices.
With this, are there any issues that we need to consider on the cisco 3725 before migration? Our data connection and dial-up for remote users works fine. Only the VoIP link to the remote site.
Hope you can provide inputs on this problem.
    Thanks,
    udimpas

Ok thanks. I did try the online help. Initially got a very helpful young women who then transfered me to a thoroughly unhelpful man who just said i should wait for the engineer and there was nothing they could do.
Well the engineers turned up mid morning on friday. Turns out the dial tone i was getting was the previous owner's line that had been blocked when they left. the engineers attached a new bt box, then had to go to the exchange to connect my number, then back to my flat to test. all sorted but seems totally unneccesary. shouldn't this have all happened as part of the activation process and not involved me taking a half days holiday..oh well

  • Panasonic PBX Dial Tone with SPA3102

I have successfully configured two SPA3102 to deliver remote dial tone.
    (CO Line)----[SPA3102]===={IP Network}====[SPA3102]----Telephone
Works fine calls in or out using dial tone from a Rhino Channelbank.
This does not work so well
(Panasonic PBX Analog Extension Port)----[SPA3102}===={IP Network}====[SPA3102]----(CO Line)---->>PBX CO Port
I can call from another ext. in the PBX to the analog phone and it work, but it will not grab the line to make the call from the Remote ATA, or the local ATA. Has anyone dealt with this or a similar issue?
    Thanks, Damon

    Damon:
The problem lies on the voltage.  Go to Voice/Info and check at PSTN Line Status the Line Voltage on hook, then off hook.  (In my case with a 308 it was -26 and -6) and then put the number between those (in my case, -16) in Voice/PSTN Line at International Control, Line-In-Use Voltage

  • Satellite A30: Software modem - no dial tone

I have reinstalled English XP on a machine purchases in SPain.
The modem has no connection as all - no dial tone can be heard.
I have installed the latest drivers, cables all OK. Telephone line works
The modem looks for COM3 but there are no COM ports in device manager.

    Hi
I dont think that this issue has something to do with the com ports. The com port is a virtual port.
You should be sure that you have installed a modem driver for Spain form the Toshiba website driver.
Secondly please go to the modem properties, select the modem tab and disable the option wait for dial tone before dialing

  • FXS analog phone can't break dial tone when pressing some number keys.

    Hi All,
May I know how to break the dial tone when pressing any keys? I've tried to set the input gain to 0 dB, -1dB, -4dB and 4dB but same results.
Voice-port also configured  in "timeouts interdigit 3". In other sites, same configured but it is working.
Is it defective or need to be configured?
    Highly appreciated for your response.
    Thank you
    Regards,

    Thanks for the reply Paolo.
    VIC3-2FXS/DID, and RJ-11 for phone.
    config:
            voice-port 0/1/0

I also tried to add input gain like I said on my post. But its not works.

  • PAP2T is Droppiing DIal Tone after around 1 hour when connected to D-Link DSL-504G

I have recently changed my router to a D-Link DSL-504G and now my PAP2T looses dial tone randomly but usually after 15 -60 mins of use.  It never comes back on unless I reset the router and PAP2T.  Then it does the same.
I have an external static IP address (ISP) I have a static IP address for my router. I have made a internal static IP address for the PAP2T. I have port forwarded as per my SIP providers instructions (maybe have made an error here?).
I have called D-Link and they don't have a clue. I have upgraded the D-Link to the latest firmware. I have NOT upgraded the PAP2T as it used to work wit h my other router. (Not available anymore)
Is this a configuration problem on the D-Link or is it just incompatible?

    Hello,
if you have forwarded SIP ports (5060 and 5061 by default) make sure you also forward the RTP port range (16384-16482). The loss of the dialtone appears to be tight to loss of the registration - which can be related to dead/wrong conntrack entry somewhere on the way between you and your VoIP provider.
Next time you loose the tone try to change "SIP Port" on the line in trouble from 5060 (5061) to something (exotix) else, like 6050 (6051).
You may also consider to completely cancel the port forwarding and use the NAT keeplive ( $INFO or $NOTIFY) every 5 or so minutes (300s) to keep the NAT alive between the $REGISTER requests (which are every 3600s by default AFAIK)

  • I have a wireless home phone connect device. Can call out on it when dial tone present, but most times cannot receive calls since purchase. Anyone else having a  problem with their home connect device?

Have had Wireless Home Phone connect device refreshed and updated three times since I purchased it in September 2014. Last tech I worked with on it initialized an NRB to check the network. I checked the location of the tower, which is less than one mile up the hill with clear line of site. The device always has two antennas on it. The device is great when it does work, but most of the time it rings three times and then jumps to an automated message saying the person I am calling is not available. I've actually gone up there several times to try an fix the device, but always end up calling a Verizon tech who has me unplug it, pull the battery, and they do some network stuff and then we turn it back on and it works. After the last time on 10/02/14, I called it and got the message. I drove up there, 100 miles one way, and called it while standing in the room. Got the same message. I picked up the phone, heard a dial tone and dialed my phone and it range through. I hung that phone connected to the device and call it using my cell phone. It rang through. I went home and tried to call it the next day. Again it did not ring through and I got the message after three rings. I call another phone at the facility and had them call me on my mom's phone and it is fixed it again. The fix last for a day or two and then it's broken again, like it is today. If it's a network problem then it must be fairly close to the area because no matter what we do it fails again. So much for the 99.98% reliable. This thing is a piece of junk!
I purchased this device and put it on my plan so that my mother who we placed in a home at 96 years old would have a phone connection that she could use and wouldn't flip her out. My family and her family has not been able to faithfully connect with her at this critical time in her life. I am giving Verizon 10 more days to figure this out and then I am going to ask for a total refund not to mention how much time and travel I have put into this piece of junk. Either the home connect transceiver is broken or the network is broken. Why should I pay close to $70 for a service that has not worked more than several days out of 35 days? Also I have spent close to three hours on the phone with decent technical people, but it's my time. I should send Verizon a bill for every time I have gone up there to fix this device as well.
What perplexes me is that a regular cell phone would have sufficed, but because Verizon has to have a data connection that is not available on a regular phone and it was going to cost me $30/month, I decided to go with the home connect. Seemed like a nice solution for an older person who would have a hard time using a cell phone and keeping it charged. Plus after all the fees for getting it connected, it only cost $20/month. That would be a pretty good thing, IF IT WORKED....... The other thing that irks me is, why do I have to pay for a data connection when the cell phone Verizon originally provided can't even access the network. What ever happened to adding a phone line for $10 bucks\ month? All I wanted was a simple phone. She would not be able to use anything more complex and all she needs is a phone line period.
I have no problem paying for something that works and does what it should, but this is ridiculousness. The MTF on this device is somewhere around 1 to 2 days. Out of 365 days that's about a 96.5% failure rate....... Want my advice? Get ride of this device. It sucks and it's bad marketing.

        jsavage9621,
It pains me to hear about your experience with the Home Phone Connect.  This device usually works seamlessly and is a great alternative to a landline phone.  It sounds like we've done our fair share of work on your account here.  I'm going to go ahead and send you a Private Message so that we can access your account and review any open tickets for you.  I look forward to speaking with you.
