Vi copying question

Been using vi for a few things inside terminal but there's one thing I cant figure how to do
How to you copy text from say outside of the terminal into vi.Like from a website.
I tried to do google it and i got was shift+insert
The problem is I'm using a macbook pro,how can this be done?

This may not be exactly what you looking for but it's kind of neat.
open a new file in vim, don't enter insert mode.
vim /tmp/hold
Then just type:
!!curl http://www.state.gov
Then tap the Return key.
it should read in the source for given webpage. you'll also get a couple of lines at the top
that you may not need.

  • System Copy Questions R/3 4.6c  + Oracle + Solaris

    dear gurus
goal system copy in R/3 4.6c + Oracle + Solaris
I am doing the db export using R3SETUP (quite slow, I have optimize it using split SRT files method)
    I have questions here..
    when I do export I download latest R3szchk, R3load, R3SETUP, R3check, R3LDCTL
    I download from
Support Packages and Patches - Archive - Additional Components - SAP Kernel -SAP KERNEL 64-BIT - SAP KERNEL 4.6D 64-BIT
    R3szchk, R3load, R3check, R3LDCTL using SAPEXEDB_2364-10001132.SAR (Kernel Part II for Stack Q1-2008)
    R3SETUP using R3SETUP_29-10001132.CAR
    source system : Oracle 8.1.7 - R/3 4.6C - Solaris 9
    my question is
    target system : Oracle 10.0.2 with patches - R/3 4.6C - Solaris 10
later on when i do import to target system, should I use the same kernel when I do the export, or should I use the one from
Support Packages and Patches -> Additional Components -> SAP Kernel -> SAP KERNEL 64-BIT -> SAP KERNEL 4.6D_EX2 64-BIT
    another question
how to speed up the export ? i am stucked with bottle neck in IO, CPU usage is very low, please dont recommend me something related to hardware or disk architecture, if possible recommend me something related to Oracle parameter.
disk IO  using IO stat showing 100% busy and service time 800-1500
    thanks !

Yes - use that one. It uses the Oracle instantclient instead of the old 9.2 client. Make sure you add "-loadprocedure fast" to the load options, this will enable the fastloader.
Make also sure you install all the patchsets and interim patches BEFORE you start the data load.

if you disk I/O subsystem can´t deliver more than you are lost with Oracle parameters.

  • Rapid Provisioning or SAN Copy question

    Hi VMM Community,
I'm involved in cloud (WAP) project. The customer wants to avoid VM deployment over the network, he wants to use the VMM SAN to SAN copy. AFAIK, SAN to SAN copy is the same as Rapid Provisioning, so we can't use such technique with Cluster Shared Volumes
(several VMs on the Same CSV), each VM will have its own LUN. The customer claims that it's possible with CSV. So i'm asking the question here to have a non refutable answer.
Is there a technique in VMM to avoid VM deployment via Network and that leverage SAN to SAN copy and works with CSV?
    Thanks for all.
    Regards, Samir Farhat Infrastructure Consultant

WAP talks to SPF and SPF tells VMM what to do.
If this is a WAP Gallery Item, WAP will use differencing disks.  Because WAP is really telling SCVMM what to do.
If this is from VHD, again, WAP will tell SCVMM what to do.
If this is from an SCVMM Template that has been exposed to the Tenant - then SCVMM will do whatever the SCVMM Template defines for the provisioning method.
San to San for CSV?  That is detail that I don't know.  Hopefully someone else will.

  • Scheduled automatic file copying question

    Hi,
I'm not sure that this is the right place to post this question. If not, please move the question to the proper place or let me know where I should post it.
I'm using OSX Planet (http://www.gabrielotte.com/osxplanet/main.html) which is a nice program that makes my background screen a picture of the Earth that shows the current cloud cover and light and shadow areas. The image is updated as often as you 'd like showing "live" results.
I'd like to copy the image file that the OS Planet generates to use as the background. Since the imaged changes every few minutes (the settings I use) I'd like to copy the newest image file whenever it's created. After a few days I'll have several images which I'll compile into a nice time lapse movie.
I could sit at my Mac for 48 hours and click and duplicate the image file every time a new image file is created, but I don't really want to do that. How can I set something up to duplicate the image file automatically every five minutes or so?
    Thanks.
    Jim

Unfortunately, there are probably no ways you could do this in a way that would not interrupt your minute-by-minute work without some Automator actions available from the programmer.
I emailed him for you. Maybe he'll get in touch with you.
The easiest (but most interrupting) way would be to have Automator bring the OSXplanet app to the foreground, take a screen capture of it, and dump that into some folder you designate for your desktop pictures, perhaps. You will have to automate naming these in a series as well, so they don't get overwritten.
That's at least one concept for you to go from.
    Let us know your progress.

  • System copy questions

Let's assume we have two CRM systems CRD(dev&qas system) & CRP(prd system), and corresponding R/3 systems R3D & R3P, As I read some documents concenring system copy within CRM, I still have doubt on the transport strategy.
on CRD, After making the manual customizing and finish test replication of customizing/master data/transaction data from R3D, we would like to transport the customzing to CRP, and corresponding customizing from R3D to R3P. But I am not sure:
    1. Only manual customizing in CRD will be transported to CRP? how about the customizing object download from R3D(e.g. condition customizing), are they also transported to CRP or need replication again from R3P?
    2. the organizational model transported or need replication again?
    3. internet user transported or need replciation again?
    4. RFC destination transported or need cusotomizing again in CRP?
    5. If I use the same logical system name in CRD & CRP, is there anything I should pay attention to?
    6. number range transported or need cusotomizing again in CRP?
    7. how about the java applications, like ISA web shop xcm settings?
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
1 - You must do an initial download of the R/3 adapter objects such as customising and business data in each system.
2 - Manually set it up in each system.  If it is large then there is a transport program RHMOVE30.
3 - Users must be created in each system.
4 - RFC destination created in each system and all initial set up done (table CRMRFCPAR for example in R/3 prd)
5 - Create a new logical system name, don't use the same as dev.
6 - Transport the number range (this should have been done when creating it).  If this hasn't been done already then best to do it start in production due to the current number will not be at the start in dev
7 - should be on different server so would require new xcm settings to point to the different production server
    Cheers

  • The copy question between the same business transaction type

    Hi all,
I book a opportunity order 1000000002 by copying a same type existence opportunity order 1000000001.The transaction type is OPFS.
But i can't search the relationship between 1000000001 and 1000000002.
    Where is their DOC flow?
Which way can help me to find their relationship?
    Thanks for your attention.
    Best wishes.
    Simon Fan.

    Hi
There is no relationship between documents 1000000001 and 1000000002 as the second document has been made as a copy of the first document and not as a follow up transaction.
Relationship shall only appear when you make one document as a followup document from another.. eg: like you can make a opportunity as a followup document from lead. If you do this then you can see the relationship in the document flow.
I hope I have cleared your doubt.
    Regards
Note: Pls reward points if my explanation helps you.

  • Client copy question - Overwrite an existent client...?

    Hi gurus,
I want to know if there is a problem to do a client copy over on a existent client, this is, now I have to do a client copy from 300 to 400 but the client 400 exists in the system, and I want to know if it´s possible and is any problem to do this or before this I must delete the client 400 and only after that I can do a copy from 300 to 400...?!
    Best regards,
    João Dimas - Portugal

    Hello,
Everything depends on the size of your target client 400.
If this client contains a lot of data I recommend that you first perform a client delete via SCC5.
Otherwise you risk that your client copy will fail (extend problems, undo problems, ...) or will take too long (because data in 400 also needs to be deleted).
Advantage of deleting the client first is that the actual client copy will go much faster (because nothing needs to be deleted anymore).
Deletes during client copy or client delete often take most of the time, because this is done via non optimized SQL statements like (delete from table where mandt = '400').
There are a lot of SAP Notes to optimize client copies and especially client deletes !

  • PC to iMac File Copy Question

Last night I copied a directory of photo images over from my Windows 7 laptop to the iMac. It's a very large directory -- approaching 21 GB. In doing a quick compare I noticed the folder sizes and number of files were different. Does anyone know if there is any logical explanation as to why they would be different. The file copy was done over my home wireless network and due to the size of the directory I let it run overnight. There were no errors when I checked in the morning. Is there any way to confirm that everything got copied other than check the file count on a per directory basis.
    Thanks.

did you enable windows file sharing under system preferences/sharing?

  • Photoshop CS6 Layer via Copy Question

    Hi,
I've noticed that when a selection is Layer via Copyed in Photoshop CS6, it appears brighter and slightly more saturated in color than the original selection it came from. Currently I manually make lighting and color adjustments to match it back to the original, but is there a way to prevent this altogether? There are no masks or adjustment layers or any other tools being used when this happens -- just a simple Layer via Copy.
I'm not sure if there is a setting that will help cut out that time consuming manual step of retouching to match the original selection, but any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

There shouldn't be any difference if it's just layer via copy in the same document.
What operating system are you using?
Is photoshop cs6 up to date?
    (Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6)
Could you post a screenshot(s) showing the difference and your layers panel?

  • ITunes And Digital Copy Question

sorry if this has been asked before but
is there a way to register all my digital copy blu rays onto my itunes and delete them so they dont take space away from my macbook pro?
i copied Juno onto the computer then deleted it, and they let me know that even if i delete the movie, it will stay in my itunes. But it doesnt, how do i/ can i redownload these movies anytime?
PS- reason why im doing this is because i notice Digital Copys expire, and i figured that if i load them up, i would be safe from them not expiring
    Message was edited by: Avalanche™

As I understand what you are trying to accomplish - copy the Bluray to iTunes so you can avoid an expiration date - then delete the items from iTunes to the trash.
If this is what you intend to do then the items are removed from iTune database and deleted from the HD when you empty the Trash.
A possible work around is when you want to d/l the Bluray after the expiration date is to reset your computers current date and time to an earlier date and time - then copy the items.

  • Dynamic Context Node Copying question

I am trying to dynamically copy some context nodes from my component controller to the view controller.  In the source context, I have a node whose "Multiple" property is set to true.
I use the function addMappedChild to copy the attribute info, but the copied node always has "Multiple" set to false!! In the definition of addMappedChild there is no paramter for "Multiple".  How do I do this?
    Thanks
    Walter
    public IWDNodeInfo addMappedChild(java.lang.String name,
                                      java.lang.Class elementClass,
                                      boolean singleton,
                                      boolean mandatorySelection,

                                      java.lang.String mappedPath,
                                      boolean selectionMapped,

  • The ever popular digital movie copy question

I purchased a dvd with the digital copy. It's a Warner Bros movie and I downloaded their player & movie. I can't get it to load in iTunes. I have found the file, tried the drag and drop method, but I can't get it into iTunes. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Is it an iTunes compatible digital copy? Doesn't sound like it since you donwloaded it without iTunes.
If so, you go to the iTunes store and click on Redeem then enter the code for the digital download.
You don't download it then add it to iTunes.

  • CSS copying question.

    Rightio,
I'm fairly new to the coding/css game but I'm learning quite fast and recently I got hold of a template to mess around with. It came with a main page and two subpages, I opened the subpage and then created a new page in order to try something different, copying and pasting the subpages html and css.
What my problem is now, is that when I edit something in one of the subpages, it automatically changes the coding in the page in which I copied it to originally. I don't want to do this and I'm presuming there maybe some form of html or css code that's doing this?
could anyone shed some light, thanks in advance.

    Cheers again.
Although, I still havn't managed to sort it out. I also have no .dwt file.
The CSS is actually the only thing copying, as the HTML on either pages sticks to whatever I change it to.
I'm going to take the risk and post the entire css coding I have and maybe have one last crack at seeing if it can be figured out. (Although, If anyone can tell me another way to post it all, I'll delete and replace!)
Sorry for dragging this out but it's the only problem I have and the only one I really can't work out.

  • Digital Copy Question

I was wondering for the Digital Copy you get from itunes if your given a portable version of the movie for your iPod and a regular copy of the movie to watch on the PC.

if your given a portable version of the movie for your iPod
    Yes.
and a regular copy of the movie to watch on the PC.
You already purchased the regular copy. It's the DVD.
You can watch the digital copy on your computer (or iPod) or you can watch the DVD on your computer.

  • Calcscript Clear and Copy question

    Hi there,
I am thinking of copying a scenario to another using a calcscript but I wonder whether I need to clear it first in case there's residual data but then I am not sure if it's really needed? I will use the sample.basic to illustrate.
    FIX("Cola")
    "Budget" = "Actual";
    ENDFIX
Logically, if there's some residual data in "Budget" that's there, shouldn't it be overwritten by what is there in "Actual"? And in case where "Actual" has a #missing value, would #missing be copied over too? I am trying not to have to do this:
    FIX("Cola")
    FIX("Budget")
    CLEARBLOCK ALL;
    ENDFIX
    "Budget" = "Actual";
    ENDFIX
Any thoughts whether I could save a few minutes not to have to clearblock?

doing it the way you plan, if you don't clar first you could have residual data. If you instead use the datacopy command, I believe it will copy over everything including missing
