50 euros of Skype credit was bought on my account, i did not authorise this, i have not used this and i have not used skype for 4 years. I want a refund.
Do NOT tell me to contact your community board or live chat, i am well aware that skype customer service is non existent! I am amazed that such a large company has such terrible customer service!
I have had lengthy (and expensive) discussions with paypal and my bank and they have both said the responsibility falls with skype.
I WANT A REFUND!!!! I will keep posting this message till i get an appropriate answer

I just tested contacting Skype Customer Service and almost literally blew through the various drop-down menu items to the point I had launched an instant message chat session with an agent within a minute or two of starting the process. 
Update: Just tested contacting Skype Customer Service once again.  First attempt, "Security-Privacy" menu choice and subsequent choice ended with "We're having problems ... ."  Immediately tried again, chose Payments -> Unexpected Payments and was directed straight away to start a chat with a customer service representative.   The chat facility started immediately.

One standard comment I read is that once a fraudulent charge is reported to PayPal and to whatever payment method funds a PayPal account, when the funds are charged back, Skype will suspend or block the account as a proactive measure in order to prevent further fraudulent and unauthorized purchases.

Skype is aware of lingering and sporadic problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself once again redirected back to the Community, please try using a different web browser and - most importantly - choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
It may take a few attempts, however people are getting through.

    Most likely the case - and possily your PayPal account or whatever payment method you use to fund your PayPal account could have been where the perpetrator started, not necessarily your Skype account. 
    or Skype have illegally taken my money.
    Skype has no - zero - interest in doing this.

    Change these account passwords immediately if you have not already done so:
    Skype account
    PayPal account
    Your Skype account's registered e-mail address account
    Whatever method you use to fund purchase transactions via PayPal
    You may also consider ensuring the most recent versions of all software and patches are installed, as well as running your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware software suite using current virus signature files.
    If you have received a support ticket number, you will receive a response.  If you have not, and are experiencing difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service, try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.  Skype is aware of problems reaching their customer service unit and is working on a resolution.  People are getting through, although sometimes it takes a few attempts.

  • How do I get real help from Skype???

    Like many of you, I pay for my use of Skype.  Skype to Go is my means of remaining in contact with friends and family while I work abroad.  I am now having serious problems with Skype to Go and have been unable to get any support through posts posted on the Skype to Go area within in the community.  As a customer who is paying for a service and not getting the service, I need real help.  But I cannot seem to navigate my way to that help.  So my question is this, where is Skype technical support?  How do I access them rather than a community of people who may or may not be interested in my problem?

  • Account restricted, no help from Skype staff

    Hello,
    Recently, my account has become "restricted"- I am unable to call phones or other skype accounts, and the skype customer service inquiry responded with a cryptic message that my account had "violated the terms of service". I have emailed back and forth with them six times now, and no one has been able to explain to me how or in what way I have violated these terms of service- I'm not even sure if I am responsible or if my account has been hacked. I'd really like to be able to talk to my overseas family again! Please help!

    I've now emailed skype help three times about this issue and the responses I have received have been stock copy-and-paste emails that don't address my concerns at all - I've simply been told that I've violated the terms of service (no response on how?) and that I can make a new account. Any suggestions for how to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated!

    afaik, all users can use the email support option.  But as you said you can not use that facility, send an email to their generic email address instead - [email protected]

  • Getting help beyond Skype Customer Service

    Does anyone know how to reach someone at Skype with any billing authority?  The customer service is worse than useless because they take a lot of time and offer absolutely no help.  I am the Skype manager for a few different Skype accounts.  I use these accounts for my business and for group video.  It looks like when Skype switched group video accounts to Skype premium accounts, they switched my quarterly account payments of $29 to monthly payment of $29, which means that I've been paying tripple on each account this year all year. 
    Now, I would like to get a refund for my overpayments, switch to a cheap yearly plan for all of my accounts and update the contact address for our company.  I'm not able to to do any of these things as far as I can tell because the interface is buggy. 
    Last year, I lost many hours just trying to get help changing the credit card for billing.  At the time I asked to be switched to one of the lower cost plans that had become available and they told me that I didn't have to do anything because it would happen automatically.  When it didn't,  I didn't have the energy to spend another day chatting with customer service reps, so I left it.  Next month, I will be changing banks and anticipate another excessively long battle. 
    Does anyone know how to get actual support from these guys? 

    I have been trying to get customer support for a year and no help. I have auto renew with unlimited United States calls and a Skype number and 99% of the time I can't make a call and am told it will cost me money. I tried online support and dealt with an idiot or I think it was computerized responses because they typed the same thing over and over for 6 hours before I gave up. Seems like once they get your money you're screwed. There is no help and there should be some way to file formal complaint. Sorry I'm no help but maybe someone will read this and come up with a REAL answer. Free Skype is good between computers but don't waste your money on subscriptions because you are on your own. This company needs legal action taken against it. Seems like by referring you to faqs and cutting you off once you get some kind of automated response they hope you will give up. Well, enough is enough. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Maybe a class action lawsuit might get some response.

    Total lack of support and no meaningful response from Skype.com forum.
    2 months without being able to use Skype and hours nearly days lost for uninstall reinstall or initialize the phone all that only due to a faulty sensor problem. SKYPE MUST ADD a  setting to disable the proximity sensor (like the existing audio for calls from the phone) . IT IS A MINIMUM!

  • Port number from Skype to At&t?? Prior Success but...

    I do not understand and am frustrated. I recently acquired/purchased a second landline number since the process of porting out a number from skype to AT&T was completed at a prior time successfully (a year or two ago).
    I now am hindered in this process due to ATT saying they recently received a memo which disables them to proceed. Something about Skype's telecom partner no longer allowing international ports or something.
    I called Verizon and they said this was possible for them and they would go ahead with the process.. I do not want to switch providers for a number but would like clarity. Anyone knowledgeable with this process and current/new policy?? I purchased the number for this specific reason.

    Alright ... well, you may have lost your former number. You should have simply submitted your information to activate your iPhone and that act alone would have closed your Verizon account and transferred your number. So if you somehow believed you had to close your Verizon account before activating your iPhone then, in essence, you gave your phone number back to Verizon to release to a new Verizon customer.
    Which is probably why your getting the message that there is no number to transfer. My advice: Accept your fate, re-activate and take a new number.
    I say this because I transferred over from T-Mobile. In fact, I bought six iPhones all together (one for each of my employees) and they had accounts with different service providers (Sprint, Verizon, Metro, etc.). Two employees did as you did and we lost the numbers.
    For those we didn't lose - the only trouble we ran into was failing to insert the the account information exactly as it appeared on our billing statements. If it was all in caps and we went back and put re-input all in caps then the activation and number transferred. If we let off our suite number or if it was shown as # or STE then when we provided that just as it appeared on the statement, the transfer went through.

  • Firefox won't open links from Skype?

    Windows 8.1 Pro (x64), Skype is the latest version for desktop 6.10.0.104, Firefox is the latest version (of writing this question) - 25 Stable.
    When I click on link in Skype nothing happens! Firefox is set as default browser for all the supported file types. If I change the default browser to IE 11 and click on Skype link, the link opens in IE without a problem.
    Setting back defaults for Firefox doesn't help. I tried reinstalling both Firefox and Skype without success.
    Any ideas? It's very unpractical to copy every link and paste it.

    Or is the issue that there is no activity when you click on a link from Skype. Do other links (say in Outlook / Word) open Firefox when you click them? We want to narrow this down to see if this is a Skype specific issue.

    I carefully followed the directions for installing Thunderbird. I am running WinXP pro. Thunderbird is there but not functioning. I am 78 years old and I need help from you re: install. I am not going to pay $$$$$to get a computer tech to come to my home and install Thunderbird. I had no trouble installing Firefox, but Thunderbird is an absolute drongo.   • Spam email from Skype?

    I am a long-time Skype user. Yesterday I started receiving email from what appears to be Skype from its [email protected] address. The email is fishy for several reasons: It is a welcome email addressed to Skype user "abdullah434771" but that is not my Skype username. The email is a welcome email despite the fact that I have been on Skype for ages. The email is in German (titled "Sagen Sie Hallo zur wundervoll​en Welt von Skype") but I do not speak German and have never listed it in any preferences. Lastly, it is coming to a legitmate gmail address of mine that is not the main email address linked to my Skype account. I have recevied this message twice now.
    I am posting this here because there is clearly something wrong, even though the message visually appears to be a genuine Skype email. I do not want to keep hitting spam in my gmail settings as I did the first time as I do not want my gmail to start treating emails from Skype as spam. Has someone erroneously put my email as their own? What should I do?

    Any person can create a Skype account and register any email address (valid or not) in it.  I think this is one weakness of the Skype registration system.  Moreover, you may need to report this to Skype Support and request to unlink that unknown account from your email address.

    Hello there, I had an account which is blocked with no a clear reason from skype, they told me that it had some suspicious activites and all i did is adding my friends' accounts simultaneously and skype support told me to create another account and there is noway to get the old account back which had about 100 important contacts on it and I lost them all and I can not retrieve them now even I asked the support to just backup my contacts and send them to me and they refused, after this I can not sign into skype from my PC. The next step i did was to create another account to start over from the beginning again, I signed into it from my Android device. I Added some of my friends who were on the old account - just about 5 - 7 friends -without being confirmed the request and this account also got blocked and I can not sign into skype with any other account from my android device. Now there is noway to use skype from my side and I dunno what the wrong i did and how can I solve this problem before I think of another alternative better than skype. Thanks in advance.
