View SQL generated in DB Control

How can I see the sql that is executed from a db control?
Thanks,
Howard

Hi Howard,
maybe there is a simpler way, but you can check the log files of the
database server after a short test.

  • How to View sql generated by WLS CMP?

    Hi,
I am using WLS 8.1 SP4, how can I view the SQL that is generated by the EJB CMP container for my Entity beans. Is there any setting that I need to enable?
    Thanks
    Rama

If you pre-compile the EJB using weblogic.ejbc or weblogic.appc, you can use
the '-keepgenerated' option which will keep the source files of the
generated RDBMS .java file of the entity bean. You can find the SQLs in this
    source file.
At run time, if you want to see the SQL that are being fired, you can add
the following option in the java command line:
    -Dweblogic.ejb20.cmp.rdbms.verbose=true
    --Sathish

  • Printing/viewing sql generated data under 9ias

    Thanks for your quick response.
a quick example of what i am trying to do.
    Under forms45
Run sqlplus from a .sql file containing
    spool report.lst
    select pat_sur,pat_DOb form patient where
    pat_key &gt;= &start and
    pat_key &lt;= &end;
    spool off;
    exit
This is called under forms45 and loads sql with the operator entering start and end patient
Sql is executed and results placed in report.lst
I thing use a host command, typically
    host 'start winword report.lst'
User can then view and print report from Word.
This stills works fine under oracle9ias when i am running
    on the server PC.
However, when i am logged on via antoher pc in the network, all the interaction i.e. entering start and end patient keys , the calling of word and the subsequent loading on the report details are all actioned on the
file server. All that happens to me on the "client pc" is
the Hour-glass appearing, which disappears when i have finished processing on the file server.
How can a run the sql on the "client Pc" to allow entering
on parameters, calling of word and subsequently see the details of the report.
I hope thus clarifies what my problem is.
Look forward to hearing from you.

  • View log not showing physical SQL generated in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7

    Hi,
I am currently using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7 version. In this version I am unable to view the physical SQL generated by OBIEE under Administration --> Manage Marketing Jobs --> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL OR Administration --> Manage Sessions--> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL. It is not showing the physical SQL generated by OBIEE for a report or segment which I have executed.
It was available in previous version i.e. OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2.
I have searched in metalink and it has been suggested to use the following <Filters> section into instanceconfig.xml file. I have added the following details into existing instanceconfig.xml file and then restarted the BI services. Still the problem persist.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
We used to view the log details (physical SQL) using Manage Marketing Jobs in OBIEE10g.
In OBIEE11g we can see the job details and when selecting a job (under Action column Details link) there is an option in left pane as 'View Log'. If I click on 'View Log' it is showing as 'No Logs Found'.
Just wanted to confirm if this is an issue in OBIEE11g.
Also, I believe there is a limitation in 'Manage Session' to view the number of job details whereas in 'Manage Marketing Jobs' section we can increase the number of jobs to be displayed.
    Thanks,

  • HELP : customize SQL generated

    Hi,
I've followed the Tutorial 'Generating a Struts-based JSP Application for an
Application Module', where I'm working with only one table.
When I run the 'main.html', on the left side ( navigator ), there are 'Browse' and 'Query' options.
Every time I click on 'Browse', I always have this error :
Error Message: JBO-26044: Error while getting estimated row count for view object TimesheetView1, statement
    SELECT count(1) FROM (SELECT Timesheet.ts_id, Timesheet.ts_user, Timesheet.ts_code, Timesheet.ts_date, Timesheet.ts_hour
    FROM timesheet Timesheet) ESTCOUNT
    My config are :
    * Win2K
    * JAVA_HOME set to j2sdk1.4.1_01
    * mySQL 3.23.49 with JDBC driver mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar
    * I use ultraDevHack=true as parameter within the URL
    * JDev 9.0.3 prod release
Even with 'ultraDevHack=true' parameter, the subselect still not working.
I've seen in the forum that JDev Team have tried with that parameter, and it worked,
but it didn't mention with which version of mySQL and which JDBC driver.
I would like to modify the above SQL into a simpler one 'SELECT COUNT(*) FROM timesheet'.
    Anybody know how ?
The View Object Wizard didn't help me at all for the above SQL.
In fact I would like to fully controled, modified, or cuztomised all SQL generated.
Back to main.html, the header contains two buttons 'BC4J Admin' and 'Help'.

CR4E and the Crystal Report Designer both has access to the SQL Command Object that you're trying to work with.
However, CR4E uses the Eclipse functionality - the SQL Command Scratchpad - that has more limitations than the Command Object editor in Crystal Report Designer.

  • Viewing reports generated by BOXI in local Java application?

    Hi,
I am developing a Java client that will act as a front-end to a BOXI R2 server and am having some problems finding a suitable way to display the generated reports in an integrated manner.
I have been using the Web Services component to interact with the server as this seems like the easiest (only) way to run reports on demand, including setting parameters. The ReportViewerBean java applet seems like the only tool available to integrate in a client java application but I have some problems with it. The only way I have been able to get it to display a report is by getting an IReportSource from the page server. It also doesn't let me set parameters programatically and so what my app has to do at the moment is set parameters and retrieve a view using the web service, put the retrieved view back on the server in a temporary location and then retrieve the temporary view on the server using the IReportSourceFactory and feed that to the ReportViewerBean.
This solution is no good and I need some help getting this to work.
I have used an ActiveX CR viewer component in a separate project written in VB6 which allowed me to set parameters, data sources, ect. and run the report. It was very flexible, but unfortunately tied to windows. Is there any similar component available in java that isn't as crippled as the ReportViewerBean and allows me to just view the report I retrieved from the server?
    Thanks,
    Elliot.

The Crystal Report Viewer looks good, but it seem that it's only available for Windows and Mac platforms. The reason why I am using Java is because the company I am working for has clients using both Windows and Solaris workstations.
The reporting component I am investigating needs to be integrated with our current software solution.
There are a few requirements that restrict this to an integrated solution:
We will be managing cascading and custom dynamic prompts and feeding formatted strings from that to the report parameters
Solution has to be cross platform, including Unix platforms
Interface has to be restricted so that viewing, printing, exporting can be controlled and audited by us.
An interface that I can catch hyperlink events from to trigger extra functionality in the parent program.
Thanks for the suggestion, but are there any other thick client java options for viewing a generated report?

  • Viewing SQL Audit Logs

I am new at the SQL auditing feature. I have played around with it, and I have one problem that I hope someone can help me with. When I first turn on the SQL audit and the audit file is small I can view the log on my local machine with the log viewer in
SSMS. However, as the log files continue to be created and grow, the log file viewer no longer works. It sits there for several minutes saying "initializing log file #1", then just comes back 0 records processed. Sometimes it comes back with an OutOfMemoryException.
I have the SQL audit set to go to files, and the files are set to be 250 MB each.
Is there some better way to look at the SQL audit log files generated, or is there some way to make the log file viewer actually work once the log files begin to grow? I know I can use Transact-SQL statements, but I was hoping to use the log file viewer
or some other GUI viewer. Another issue I'm concerned about is being able to archive the log files to another location and having the ability to look at them.
    Thank you.

    Its looks like bug.

  • Can we change physical SQL generated by BI Server?

    Hello gurus:
I have a doubt. How can we change the physical SQL generated by OBIEE?
is there any way we can modify the SQL Cost?
    Let me know.
    Thanks.
    Vinay R.

So If I have a View and a physical table, so View will have lower cost compared to Table?
Can you explain a bit more about this? There is absolutely no way we can estimate the cost of a view or a table we don't know. There are too many variables so your question is too wide and unprecise. Generally speaking views that select from only one table do not add any extra cost to the execution plan, Oracle will convert them to the underlaying table. Having said the usual reason to have a view is to join different tables and apply some data filtering conditions so it will depend a lot on what kind of query you are running.

Directly within Discoverer for OLAP (or Viewer)? No - because there is no way to change the behaviour of the generated SQL, you cannot add hints or create any MVs to change the SQL generated. You can trace the SQL generated during a Disco for OLAP query though by switching on some of the OLAP tuning and diagnostic features. There is more information contained in the Discoverer for OLAP Best Practices Guide:

  • Different sql generated in CR4E compared to standalone CR?

<p>Hi,</p><p>We are currently working with CR4E and have found that a report generates different results in CR4E previewer than the standalone Crystal reports previewer - and upon closer inspection the sql statements are different.</p><p>We are running oracle (with thin client driver) and the problem seems to stem from join types - we cannot specify a join type in CR4E, but this can be specified in standalone CR - resulting in incorrect results in CR4E (we frquently need to use left outer joins). • Need information in SQL generated after

    Hi Experts,
SQL generated after executing the query always includes Data Package Dimension table & Unit Dimensional table .Can any help me in knowing why it is like that Or what is the concept behind.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sameer Khan

    Hi Sameer,
Whenever a query is run, a SQL statement is triggered to fetch data from the BW server. In this process, the selections are passed to BW for fetching data for the Characetristics and keyfigures present in Initial query view. The DataPackage, Time and Units are the once to be filled first as these are the characteristics in default dimensions.
For free characetristics, as and when they are drilled again a Sub-SQL query is generated to fetch data corresponding to the free characteristic in the query. In case of attributes, SID's are used to fetch the attribute values from master data tables.
Also note the places where the SQL query looks for data in order:
BI Accelerator (If Implemented) -> Query Cache -> Aggregates (If any) -> DataTargets -> Master data tables.
Please let me know if you need any more information.

  • Unable to view SQL Server Agent while logged in as user

    Hello Everyone,
I have granted SQLAgentUserRole permission to one of the user and using enterprise edition of SSMS. still user is not able to view SQL Server Agent. Any help will be greatly appriciated.

There is no Enterprise Edition of SSMS. There is SSMS Basic and SSMS Complete. Prior to 2012 sp1, only SSMS Basic were available with Express Edition - but as of 2012 sp1 Expredd also offers SSMS Complete. SSMS Complete is selected bu default when you install
SSMS (unless you are prior to 2012 sp1 and are using Express, of course).
However, even SSMS Basic *should* show Agent assuming you have permissions for that. This is hearsay, but from trusted sources. Here is what to do:
Check what is installed for the machine from where you are running SSMS. You can do that using SQL Server Installation Center - see this blog post: http://sqlblog.com/blogs/tibor_karaszi/archive/2011/02/10/what-does-this-express-edition-look-like-anyhow.aspx
     (towards the end).
On that machine try both this problematic account as well as an account which is sysadmin. Does the sysadmin account see Agent? If so, you know permissions aren't granted properly. If not, then you know the tool is the problme.
Also try the problematic account from a machine where you know you see Agent normally. Again, this will help you assess whether the problem is the tool (SSMS) or permissions for the account.

  • How to view SQL for a materialized view in SQL Developer (Oracle 11g R2)

    Good Morning,
I am new to SQL Developer 3.1.07 and just installed it on a Windows 7 PC yesterday.
There's a materialized view for which I need to view (and eventually update) the SQL. The mat'lized view is in another schema, but my Oracle user does have access to the schema and to this particular mat'lized view. My user also has SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, DEBUG, and ALTER permissions. When I select (click on) the matl'ized view in the object tree on the left, a multi-tab window opens with information in the Columns, Indexes, Grants, Dependencies and Details tabs, but the SQL pane is blank. I don't know if there's some other GRANT that I need in Oracle, or if there's something else I need to do in SQL Developer to see the matl'ized view SQL.
    Thanks

I'm not sure what privileges you might need besides the one you listed except RESOURCE on the MV, or maybe CREATE ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW.
Can you use DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL to get the data you want (may/may not work due to privileges)?

  • Viewing PC-generated pdfs in Preview for Mac

I have a pdf that I generated on a PC (Windows 7, using Acrobat 9). The front cover includes an image that was previously pdf'd then inserted as a cover graphic. When viewed using Acrobat Reader, everything looks fine both on a PC and a Mac. However, when viewed on a Mac using Preview for Mac, there are lines through the cover graphic.
Has anyone else come across problems viewing PC-generated pdfs in Preview for Mac?

I always find that Preview can garble certain graphic elements or even slightly alter the over-all color of the PDF. However, I also find it is a lot quicker to deal with PDFs, especially when it comes to printing. Sometimes I get a PDF that I send to print on our Canon copier and I end up canceling the print job after 10-15 minutes because it's still processing. I open that same PDF in Preview and it prints in less than a minute. The same can be said of InDesign so on certain jobs I end up exporting as a PDF and printing from Preview. This might say a lot about Adobe's Printing Engine... (sorry, off-topic)
