VMware Fusion Update, now PC side no longer sees network

I had installed VMware Fusion V 1.1.2 on my MB Pro and had set set up network printing and file sharing. Then a couple of days ago I updated to 1.1.3, and now I can no longer see my work network, and my printer is nolonger there. I can still connect to the Internet on both the PC screen and on the Mac OS X screen. Any ideas what could have changed to cause this to happen?

Sounds like a question for the VMware folks.

  • VMware Fusion update issue

I cant seem to upgrade to Fusion 2.0.6. I download the dmg file and when I click on install VMware Fusion.app disk utility appears. I then select the dmg icon and get a window that says Install VMware Fusion.pkg.dmg. This is as far as I can get.
When I originally installed VM I just clicked and it was installed.
    Thanks

Below is a screen a shot of the point I get to but I'm not sure what to do from here. The Install VMware Fusion.mpkg is not selectable.

  • After the Airport update today, Airport Utility no longer sees my new Extreme or my 2 new Airport Express relay stations (same network); however, my internet is working and all Airports are green?

After the Airport update today, Airport Utility 6.0 no longer sees my new Extreme or my 2 new Airport Express relay stations (same network); however, my internet is working and all Airports are green?  I'm running Lion on my iMac and updated when Airport Utility prompted me to do so a few hours ago.  After applying the updates is when Airport Utility stopped seeing my routers.  But they are working?  Thoughts?

Did you remember to completely power cycle the entire network?
You would want to do this after any update or change to the network.
If you did not do this yet......things are out of sequence.
Power off everything on the network.....all devices.....power down order is not important
    Wait a few minutes
Start the modem first and let it run a minute or two by itself
Start the next device connected to the modem the same way
Work your way out on the network starting each device about a minute apart
    Check the network

  • IMac no longer sees network or gets very weak connection

    Here's the deal:
I have an iMac that was purchased in 2010. I have used it in an office connecting through a network router using the iMac's airport capabilities. The connection had been good for over a year. Airport would show four full bars every day, day in and day out.  Connection speed was high, and everything was rosy.
About two weeks ago, I noticed my download speed was decreasing. The airport status would show only three or two bars.  Sometimes it would disconnect and say that the network was not available. Then, I could reconnect, but I would only have two bars. Even then, it wouldn't stay connected long. The situation then deteriorated rapidly. Now, I can only see the network half of the time, and when I do, it shows as only one bar.
First, let me say nothing changed. Nothing on the computer changed, nothing on the router changed. It just came out of no where.
Here's what I did in troubleshooting:
Reset the router and made it an unsecure network to make sure it was not a security problem (which I didn't really think it was to begin with because the problem was not seeing the router, not an inability to get on the network).
I sat the iMac right next to the router. Then, it connected fine at full strength. But if I move it from the router too far (but still within the operating range it had for over a year), it drops dramatically.
Reinstalled the operating system on the Mac.  None of these things worked.
Here is the real kicker. There are three other Macs that operate in this office, and all show full strength and connection to the network. I can set my MacBook right in front of the iMac and connect full strength.
We also put a router in the same room with the iMac.  Even when it is sitting just 6 feet or so from the iMac, it only shows as 2 bars of strength.
So what is the deal? I cannot set this iMac right next to the router. It used to work just fine where it sits, now it can hardly see anything via airport while all other computers can just fine.

    HI,
Go to /Library/Preferences. Move all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash, restart the iMac.
That doesn't alter your settings, just resets Airport.

  • Help - iOS7 update & now iPad can no longer send PDFs!

Please help - ever since we updated our iPads to iOS7, we can no longer send PDFs to a non-Apple device (it looks like its sending, but when you check your email, nothing is attached).  The email comes up with a red X where the attachment should be.  Has anyone else encountered this problem and/or, more importantly, found a way to bypass this issue?

For anyone who's read this and encountered the same problem....I've figured out a work around for those of us dependent on the email feature until a fix is released. While viewing your PDF, select Edit and Zip the file(s) you need to email, then send that instead (by hitting Edit again, selecting the Zip file and then Mail). Its quick, easy and gets the job done. Hope this helps!!

  • Did update - now my default is another wireless network?

Did the update and now whenever I re-boot, the default wireless network is someone else's in my building.
How can I change this to recognize my own trusted network as a default????
    Somewhat related question -
Also, when someone is at my place (before and after update), whay can't they sign on and pick my wireless network. I give them the password and they stille can't get on...is this normal??? Am I missing something simple?

You can tell it to join your own network via Network Prefs>Airport. In the "By default, join" option, insert your network instead of the "automatic" option.
The second problem sounds security related. What security do you have in place?

  • 10.5.7 & VMWare Fusion

    Hi,
I've been using a Mac for only a year now. So I'm no expert. But I development casual video games and so I have to run VMWare Fusion to compile Windows versions and use certain tools.
I upgraded to 10.5.7 and the latest VMWare Fusion and now my 3D accelerator is crippled. I understand that this is a bug in the ATI driver for the Mac and I was wondering when this would get fixed. As is, I can't work in the Windows environment. That would be fine, if I had all Mac only tools. But, as you know, there aren't a lot of Mac game dev software out there. My Level and particle editors are both toast.
Is there any ETA for 10.5.8 or a driver fix? Thanks.
    James

With Bootcamp, you can't flip between OSX and Windows in realtime. Photoshop and my rendering software is on the Mac while the level editor is in Windows. Not a pleasant combination but it works when VMWare and OSX want to play nice together.
I only use Windows to compile the final Windows product -- not to actually code. I develop/code and compile in OSX.
You can file a bug report here:
    https://bugreport.apple.com/
if you have not already done so.
You need to sign up with ADC, but it's quick, free and I am sure you would find it very useful, if you are not already a member.

  • DHCP Vmware fusion issue

I have some clients connected to our cisco Wireless LAN controller (4402) and they are running vmware fusion 2. When connected to the wireless network their host machines do not aquire a IP when using DHCP. If you type in the IP manually it all works. If they connect by wire it works fine. If i put the host in NAT mode it works but i want it to work in bridge mode.

We did that as well. Here is what I found out from an internal Cisco resource.
The WLC software does not support multiple DHCP client instances running on a wireless client. There is no workaround for this, as only wireless clients registered with WLC (not bringing WGB into the picture) will have a MSCB entry and be able to get an IP address.
When a wireless client has a virtual machine running on it (e.g. in VMware, VirtualPC or Parallels), and when that virtual machine is running in bridged mode rather than in NAT ("shared networking") mode, then the WLC DHCP relay will drop the DHCP packets from the VM client, with a "dhcpProxy: Dropping packet (no mscb)" message.
It does not appear that the WLC's DHCP proxy functionality supports multiple DHCP clients behind the wireless client.
    Workarounds:
    1. Configure the virtual machine software for NAT ("shared networking") mode, not bridged mode.
    2. If using 4.1 WLC software, configure the virtual machine to use static IP addressing, not DHCP.

  • Update VMware Fusion 3.x before or after OS X Lion?

Should I update to VMware Fusion 4 before or after updating to OS X Lion?

Fusion 3 will not work with Lion. The current version, however, works. If it makes you feel more secure then update before you update to Lion.
This is confirmation from someone who has done it successfully.
As in all upgrades be sure you make a bootable backup of your current system in case a problem arises.
How to Install Lion Successfully - You must have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 Installed
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.3.) if DW cannot fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the backup volume. Source means the internal startup volume.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade to Lion:
Purchase the Lion Installer from the Mac App Store. The download will start quickly. Lion is nearly 4 GBs so a fast internet connection is essential. Download time could run upwards of 4 hours depending upon network conditions and server demands at the time.
Boot From The Lion Installer which is located in your Applications folder.
    Follow instructions for installation.

  • I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this?

I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this? I allways found that handy. Now I have to click on an icon on the top, This is a backward step if that is now the only way to see the number of items. Am I missing something obvious?

    Parrotcat wrote:

In the good old days of Snow Leopard, an open Finder folder had a border along the bottom of the window which could show the number of items in that window and the total available space on the hard disk or partition that folder resides on. That bottom border is gone in Lion and those two bits of information are gone with it. Is that what you're talking about? If so, I'd like to learn how to get it back too and "Show Item Info" is not the way.

I have been using the new version of ACR with PS6 and have been able to open the D750 files, now I'm stuck.
    Thanks,

You were probably using the Release Candidate version of camera raw 8.7, which one gets from Adobe Labs.

Look in your Applications folder.  If your system behaved as expected, you should have an iMovie 9.0 folder in your Applications folder.  Apple moved the old version there as even they suspected the new versions was a train wreck.

Have you tried with a different cable?
Have you tested all the ports with other devices to see that they are functioning?

Well, that didn't work since I am already using my appleID for both FaceTime and iMessage but i did see the option to send as SMS when iMessage not available.  so I am now able to send to him  but I don't know if he can send to me.  It's a start.  It is only with his phone.  His wife has a Galaxy and they are both on AT&T and she can send and receive.  I am on sprint.  If that info helps

If you look at the preferences for Flashblock (access from the extensions window of the add-ons manager) and choose Whitelist, you can add a site to that window, and that site will not be blocked by Flashblock at all. You will not even see the Flashblock icon.
