VoIP system for a large corporation with distributed locations

Asterisk does all of that for free.  Those are all very basic needs.  I don't know any PBX that doesn't support that.

Depending on specific needs for secure calls you might not have a lot of choices beyond Cisco and Avaya and NEC.
Do you need always encrypted RTP and provisioning between endpoints?  Do you need this for some regulatory or government requirement?
Cisco, Avaya and NEC (ok and Mitel) combined dominate the enterprise market.  So that is a good place to focus your efforts.  If you are open to manufacturers outside of that realm then define your requirements a little more and I am sure you will get plenty of suggestions.  The only manufacturer outside of those three or four that I have experience implementing and maintaining more than 2000 seats would be Zultys.

  • Please help with TV and home theater system for very large basement room....

I'm looking to get my boyfriend either a TV or home theater system for the basement.  I know he eventually wants a 3d TV.  Right now he has a set up where he has 2 tv's so he can play video games and watch sports.
The basement that the tv and home theater system will be in is large (I'd estimate at least 15 ft x 30 ft...maybe more) so I want to make sure the home theater system will be enough for the room.  We live in a ranch so basically the basement is almost the size of the house with some of it being storage.
I've started to look at products online but there are so many and technology isn't really my thing.
If anyone could help with recommendations for the home theater system and/or the tv I'd appreciate it!
    Thanks so so sooo much!!!!

What will he be using the HT system for?  Just watching sports or skipping the movie theater and watching them at home.   If you plan to watch them at home your going to be on a tight budget with the home theater system but it is possible.   Spend good money on the sub, that is one speaker you don't want to skimp out on.  With such a big space you have a lot of room to fill and the cheap subs aren't going to cut it.   You will probably need two subs as it is.  The speakers I recommend on a tight budget Polk or Klipsch.  My list includes a Denon receiver as I am a Denon fan but Yamaha, Onkyo, or Pioneer will suffice.
Here is a Option 1 will run you about 1700 with just one sub. You could always go up a model on each speaker if you feel the one sub is enough.  I like an explosion sounding like it happened in front of me so that is why I mention 2 subs.

  • VOIP system for small company

Hi, I am planning to replace phone exchange, and thinking on something with VOIP system, my main requirements are:
    - 2 isdn lines for backup
    - 4 voip lines
    - up to 15 users
woud uc500 be a good solution or would you recommend anything else?
    Thanks

The UC540 would be perfect IMO. Find a good SIP provider and your only limited by bandwidth and the number of DID's and I guess DSP resources but at 15 users I wouldnt worry to much about that. CCA is much improved now compared to what it was a few years ago and you should be able to get it up and running pretty quickly. There are tons of resources under the technical enablement labs for the UC5xx/SBCS product line. We did a roadshow the last quarter of 2010 and used most of those labs (the ones in under the technical enablement labs page) to show partners all the ins and outs of the UC500 product line and I know during the ones I did I had a ton of Account Managers who felt confident enough to actually do the technical install of a basic system after a few days of training. Cisco is dedicated to making sure their partners and their customers have every tool possible to be successful so use them!

  • System landcape in large enterprise with solution manager

    Dear Guru,
Do you have any ideas of how to set up Solution Manager in a big national enterprise?  Let's suppose
a big company has a headquarter and serveral branches.
Every branch has its ERP, BW, etc,  do you think it is better to set up respective Solution Manager system
for each branch or just create a powerful one centrally in the headquarter. Of course the latter means
less management but more authorization seperation related actions.
Is there any recommendation for this situation? Your opinion and insight is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ray

    Dear Gugu,
I know Solution Manager support some scenarios for multiple customer .e.g VAR in service desk.
But is it possible for hide solution or project infomation, especially content of respective business blueprint
    to different customers?
I mean we want to use one single Solution Manager for multiple customers, but customers do not want their
owned document and business process information shared with other customers.
e.g.  one customer log on to SOLMAN, then he could view project or solution information of other customer,
furthermore, he could also build up his business blueprint referring to other customer's  business blueprint.
Is it possible to segregate this infomation?
    Thanks a lot.

  • How do I create an archive system for a blog created with a custom app?

I had to create a blog using a custom app, because I needed an image to show up in the list view (a feature I can't believe does not exist in the blog module). Anyways, I am wondering how can I create an archive system? Do I need to create categories for each month/year and then classify the post each time we create one. Then manually create links each month to pages that filters listing by that category? This is the system I tried, but I was wondering if there was a better way.
Also, I would like to have a sidebar that shows all the authors/contributors of the blogs and have a count under their photo that shows how many blogs they have contributed to, and have this update dynamically each time they create a new post. I was wondering if a data source tag is the way to do this but I don't have enough information on how the data source tag even works, to really know how to do this.
I have searched google for hours, and even signed up for BC gurus tutorials with no real luck. I thought BC gurus was going to have the answer but it wasn't quite detailed enough. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You can use classifications but there is no auto feature to archive like that on web apps.
In terms of the blog, Like I have said to everyone that has posted about blog preview images:
    http://www.prettypollution.com.au/business-catalyst-blog
Just one example of an image at the start of the blog post rendering out, not hard at all.

  • Comparison Required for the large role with multiple profiles

    Hello,
We are small SAP team of only several people. I have created a large functional role for our functional person. Everything was fine for a while, but now whenever I need to add/remove code from the role and push it over to production I get an unusable role (in red) and some type of "Comparison Required" message.  I am not sure how to do this Comparison so I have to remove this role (and underlying profiles) from user than add it again to the user's profile.  This fixes the issue of an unusable role, but raises auditing questions.
I tried to address the issue via transaction SUC but it seems I am not using it properly.  Please, advise.
    Thanks in advance
    Galina

Yes you should schedule it at least once a day, in my systems it's running around midnight.
Use transaction PFUD or schedule a background job with one of this reports:
PFCG_TIME_DEPENDENCY (this is the old report)
RHAUTUPD_NEW (this is the new version of report) <- I'm using this in R/3 4.7 and Netweaver 7.0
    Short text
    User Master Data Reconciliation
    Description
This report runs the user master comparison for roles you have selected. For single roles you can also start the user master comparison in transaction PFCG.
You can either execute it with the single processing types in dialog mode or schedule it as a complete reconciliation in the background.
To run only specific processing types in the background, schedule a variant of program RHAUTUPD_NEW.
You can choose the following processing types:
    Profile Comparison
/>: Start the profile comparison directly after the profiles have been generated or imported. Provided you are using time-dependent role assignments, we recommend you schedule daily background jobs. The authorization profiles will then be reconciled with the user master data. Profiles no longer current will be deleted from the user master records and the current profiles will be entered.
Composite Role Comparison : Start the composite role comparison, if you want to make changes to a composite role definition  (that is, add to or delete single roles from a composite role) or if you want to import a change. Single role assignments will then be reconciled with the composite role assignments for the user. If you want to include single roles in the composite role, the single roles are assigned to those users who are assigned to the composite role. Conversely, the single roles assigned to users are deleted, if the single role is removed from the composite role.
HR Comparison : Start the HR comparison, if you want to make changes to the HR Org Model, which affect the indirect role assignment. You can only select this processing type, if HR Org is active. The switch HR_ORG_ACTIVE in table PRGN_CUST must be set to YES.
Cleanups: Carry out a cleanup, if  you want to generate or import profiles. Generated profiles that do not have any roles are deleted.
    Further options:
Issuing error messages: In dialog mode all error mesasges are displayed on the screen.
Replicating local HR assignments centrally (You can only select this option, if this client is an active child system of a CUA group and HR org. Role assignments in the child system that have arisen from links in the local HR Org model are replicated for information in the central system
    Thanks,
    Adrian

  • Grid Control Architecture for Very Large Sites: New Article published

A new article on Grid Control was published recently:
Grid Control Architecture for Very Large Sites
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/havewala-gridcontrol.html

    Oliver,
Thanks for the comments. The article is based on practical experience. If one was to recommend a pool of 2 management servers for a large corporate with 1000 servers, what that would mean is that if 1 server was brought down for any maintenance reason (for eg. applying an EM patch), all the EM work load would be on the remaining management server. So it is better to have 3 management servers instead of 2 when the EM system is servicing so many targets. Otherwise, the DBAs would be a tad angry since only 1 remaining managment server would not be able to service them properly during the time of the maintainance fix on the first management server.
The article ends with these words: "You can easily manage hundreds or even *thousands* of targets with such an architecture. The large corporate which had deployed this project scaled easily up to managing 600 to 700 targets with a pool of just three management servers, and the future plan is to manage *2,000 or more* targets which is quite achievable." The 2000 or more is based on the same architecture of 3 managment servers.
So as per the best practice document, 2 management servers would be fine for 1000 servers, although I would still advise 3 servers in practice.
For your case of 200 servers, it depends on the level of monitoring you are planning to do, and the type of database managment activities that
will be done by the DBAs. For eg, if the Dbas are planning on creating standby databases now and then through Grid Control, running backups daily
via Grid Control, cloning databases in Grid Control, patching databases in Grid Control and so on, I would definitely advise a pool of 2 servers
in your case. 2 is always better than 1.

  • Looking for ideas for transferring large amounts of data between systems

    Hello,
I am looking for ideas based on best practices for transferring Large Amounts of Data in and out of a Netweaver based application.
We have a new system we are developing in Netweaver that will utilize both the Java and ABAP stack, and will require integration with other SAP and 3rd Party Systems. It is a standalone product that doesn't share any form of data store with other systems.
We need to be able to support 10s of millions of records of tabular data coming in and out of our system.
Since we need to integrate with so many different systems, we are planning to use RFC for our primary interface in and out of the system. As it turns out RFC is not good at dealing with this large amount of data being pushed through a single call.
We have considered a number of possible ideas, however we are not very happy with any of them. I would like to see what the community has done in the past to solve problems like this as well as how SAP currently solves this problem in other applications like XI, BI, ERP, etc.

Primoz wrote:Do you use KDE (Dolphin) 4.6 RC or 4.5?
Also I've noticed that if i move / copy things with Dolphin they're substantially slower than if I use cp/mv. But cp/mv works fine for me...
Also run Dolphin from terminal to try and see what's the problem.
Hope that help at least a bit.
Could you explain why Dolphin should be slower? I'm not attacking you, I'm just asking.
Cause I thought that Dolphin is just a „little" wrapper around the cp/mv/cd/ls applications/commands.

  • Cost center integration with HR - logical system for CRT inconsistent

    Hi there,
we are distributing Cost centers from our SAP ERP system to another SAP HR system via ALE [COSMAS01 basic type].
The cost center created in target system contains information about source system logical system name - table CSKS, field LOGSYSTEM.
This is causing problems in Travel Managment in SAP HR system, where we get the error: Logical system for CTR inconsistent.
Cost centers created/changed in HR system does not contain any value in CSKS-LOGSYSTEM field and work fine.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?
For now to fix the issue, user needs to do a phony change in SAP HR system to get rid of original LOGSYSTEM value.
I am thinking about removing field E1CSKSM-LOGSYSTEM from COSMAS IDoc but I gues there must be simpler soloution.
    Thanks for your advices,
    Igor

    Igor :
I think this has something to do with matching logical system with controlling area in TKA01. Another option for cc's logical system to have no values when outbound ALE is to config V_TKA01_ALE (so it will be transported to the system that has cc ALE to other systems) to have field 'ALE Distribution Method' blank (No distribution to other system).
This way, when SAP is creating outbound idoc for COSMAS, field CSKS-logicalsystem will not be populated (logic is in SAP 'MASTERIDOC_CREATE_COSMAS' , around line 86).
    Rgds.

  • Sorting files for distributed systems for Documaker

    Hello,
I've been asked to research tools that will assist with fast sorting of files for the distributed systems for Documaker. Unfortunately, I have not had any exposure to Documaker so I'm starting from scratch. Anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

    Easy enough!
BCH files can be sorted by any number of means depending on what you would like to do and when you want to do it, and the complexity of your sorting requirements. Documaker includes some rudimentary sorting capabilities, but since there are so many other options available this is not something we have focused on as a desired feature. You can browse the system doc for more details on that. Otherwise... if you're running in multistep mode then you have access to the BCH file, in which case you can sort it using whatever is appropriate to your OS: MVS folks have syncsort, Linux folks have just about anything from perl to sort, Windows folks have a sort command as well. It so happens that those items I've mentioned are all solutions I've used for customers. If you're running single-step, then you won't likely have the BCH file available to use, and will have to write a custom rule in your CUSLIB for Documaker to sort. In this case, you would have to have access to a sorting application that provides an API. I've used Opt-Tech Sort for customers in the past, and it's definitely both affordable and powerful (and multiplatform).
NA and POL files generally do not require sorting and I would highly recommend that you steer clear of messing with those files unless you have a darn good reason to do so. Primarily you don't need to sort them because the print output is controlled by the BCH file so if you reorder the BCH, the print reflects that order. The NA file contains the variable data, and the POL file contains the forms and sections and recipients for the transactions.
Printstream sorting is an entirely different animal. I haven't been too involved with printstream sorting because it is both 3rd party and happens outside the Documaker realm, but I can tell you that most customers use facilities provided by their print controller (depending on the type of printer) or they use tools like StreamWeaver (in fact that's probably the best one IMO).
    Hope this helps!

  • What is the best soft wear update for a mac desktop with   System Version:     Mac OS X 10.5.8

What is the best soft wear update for a mac desktop with   System Version:
    Mac OS X 10.5.8

It will depend on the actual model you have.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99 while Mavericks is free. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

Anybody have any experiance with providing Overhead Paging with a Hosted VOIP system using Linksys SPA942 phones?  I currently use a hosted service called Vocalocity and need to  now provide overhead paging to one of our sites.

I don’t think this is possible since usually this paging opting is used with accordance with the registration from the SPA9000. I am not quite certain if this will be able to work with certain VoIP providers but if it does they should have paging capability and the paging code might also change. I suggest contacting your VoIP provider and Cisco Tech support to further look into your concern. I believe this unit belongs to the business series devices that Cisco is now supporting. I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extreme (2 TB drive plugged into the USB port).  I see the drive on my laptop and I can add and delete files no problem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptop's hard drive?  I don't have enough space to do that.

How did you move the music to the external drive?  What exactly is on the drive?  The entire iTunes folder or only music?  If it is the entire iTunes folder you can do the option+start suggestion earlier.  If you copied only music and did so by dragging it there then you need to delete it again and consolidate/organize it there instead so iTunes tracks the move.  iTunes 12 for Mac: Change where your iTunes files are stored - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507

I need to reinstall my operating system for 10.5 after seeing a file folder and question mark flashing on my start up screen. Can anyone help me with this?

    Hello,
That means it can find the Hard Drive, or can't find the things needed for booting.
See if DU even sees it.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

    I agree.
It was very useful to reduce everything to small and quickly scan down looking for missing artwork.
Particularly useful when I only connect to the machine with iTunes via screen sharing, so everything can be a bit slower to scroll through at times.
In fact, itunes 11 when used purely as a server for Apple TV etc is a downgrade in usability IMO, as they've got rid of some of the useful views that helped me manage my library remotely.
