Hi,
It uses HP 6520 series driver. Please download and run the following package on your Dell machine:

  • Dell Inspiron 3520 won't connect to my wifi

My Inspiron 3520 won't connect to a specific wifi connection I had been connecting to before. I can connect to other wifi connections but not this one specifically. Other devices are still able to connect to this wifi.

    Hi,
Sounds like you just need to reset that wireless profile / connection to that specific wifi network.  Here is an article from Microsoft on how to manage wireless network.
    These instructions assume Windows 7:
To delete a wireless network connection
    Start Network and Sharing Center.
In the Tasks pane, click Manage wireless networks.
Right-click the connection you want to delete, and then click Remove network.
In the Manage Wireless Networks - Warning dialog box, click OK.
Then reconnect to that wireless network and it should rebuild your profile for that network.
Let me know if this helps, or if you found some other way to resolve your problems.

  • Dell Inspiron 1525 Problems

    Hello.
I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista Home Premium preinstalled. I wanted to know if there is a way to install a fully working Arch Linux system on it. I tried with 2007.08 CD only to fail at getting the wireless card to work. Dell Inspiron 1525 comes with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini Card. I tried installing both the latest vista and xp drivers for this card via ndiswrapper. I thought all was well since I got the message that said that the driver is installed and the device was present. However, when I checked iwconfig, the normal 'wlan0' was not in the list, just 'lo'. Can someone help me with this?
Also, I used a ZenWalk liveCD to test out if I have sound support. It seems like the sound doesn't work either, but that may be because I used an old liveCD. The 1525 comes with a 'SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-MAJOR HD Audio' or also known as "High Definition Audio 2.0".
I have also learned that although Dell does offer this laptop with Ubuntu installed, they changed the wireless card on the ubuntu version. I don't know if that means anything. Also, I have heard of many who have gotten linux installed on this laptop. I have some experience with linux, but all of that is with a desktop pc. (Used Arch for the longest after trying out Gentoo ^^)
I checked the Ubuntu forums on this matter, and they seem to have a lot of documentation on it, but I am unsure if it will apply to Arch. Does Arch come with the bcm43xx drivers? If it does, then that means I have to blacklist it or something. I really need help.
    - Dennis ^^
PS: Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for all of the replies. I downloaded the newest ISO and tried to get it working again. Well, b43 did not really work as I hoped it would, so I went and used ndiswrapper. To my astonishment, it works. Apparantly, something changed from the 2.6.22 to 2.6.24 kernels that made it so that the ndiswrapper module won't be detected with a broadcom card with the 2.6.22 kernel. This is all a guess, but it kinda makes sense. Only one problem though, I did all of the usual steps to set up the wireless connection... and it can't seem to connect to the internet... I did:
    iwconfig wlan0 essid ********
    iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
    iwconfig wlan0 key restricted **********
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    dhcpcd wlan0
*I have tried this with other network cards, those on my desktop, and they worked fine.
When I do 'iwlist wlan0 scanning' , I detect all the networks that I expected to see, but it doesn't connect to any of them, which I think is really weird.
I don't really care much for vista, but I miss messing around with a decent CLI, and I will be majoring in Computer Science once I get into college, which would definately include classes on Bash scripting, so I wanted to get a linux install on my laptop since my desktop died. I have experience with Ubuntu, Gentoo (Stage 1 and Stage 3 installs.. Stage 1 was a giant pain and failed the first 4 times), ZenWalk, MEPIS, SuSE, Fedora, Arch, and some others. Of all of these, I liked Arch the best. So, I was really hoping I could get it installed.
Well, it seems I will be stuck with vista for a while... but I must say, it's not AS bad as I thought it would... still slow and all though ^^
    @anti-neutrino:
Hello. Dual-booting is tricky stuff in my opinion. I have never done it myself, so I can't really help you there. But, there are plenty of documentation out there on it. According to http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/mediadirect.htm, DellMediaDirect is installed on a hidden partition. So, I'm guessing that as long as you don't touch that partition, it would still be there. What I think you would have problem with is where to put grub (or lilo). The safest thing to do, I would think, is to place it in a floppy, if you have an external floppy drive, or place grub into a USB Flash drive which you would be able to boot from. I have no idea how to do this in Arch, but I have done it before in SuSE. And as for Vista, as long as you don't touch the vista partition, it should stay the same. The booting is the only problem I can see for you. If the boot loader (grub or lilo) is installed in a separate medium (floppy/USB) then to boot into the linux partition, all you would have to do is boot from the medium, eitherwise, it would boot into Vista (or whatever you have that boots up first) automatically.. that is unless they changed something, and knowing how fast linux is developed, there are a lot of changes, so I'm not really sure if it still works this way.
    @Warper:
I don't really mind the sound right now. If I can get internet to work, I know I can solve all the other problems later, as all I need to do is look up how to solve for it. But, yeah I know sound is muted by default in Arch. It's just that with my desktop, sound was automatically detected by other LiveCD's that I was confused when those same LiveCD's couldn't detect it. Again, this might just be that the LiveCD's use an older kernel.
    - Dennis ^^
PS: I reinstalled vista and wrote this post in it. T_T

  • Printing Issues with HP PSC 750 on Dell Inspiron 3647 using Windows 8.1

Recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 3647 desktop which has Windows 8.1 unable to get my HP PSC 750 to print correctly.
I have downloaded all applicable Win 8.0 drivers and even tried using the HP print & Scan Doctor application.  I get partial test pages printed, but the emails, documents, etc. are not complete.
I had one error pop up stating that the USB 2.0 may not work with the 3.0 on the computer, but never how to 'work around that issue'.
I tried calling HP support and they wanted to 'remote' into my computer as that was the only way they said the issue could be fixed...never done that before and was not comfortable with it...
Any other ideas - before I go out and buy a brand new printer (this one by the way still works great!)
    Thanks in advance!

Hi there and welcome to the forums
I saw your post about trying to install and use your PSC 750 on your new Windows 8.1 system. After checking the drivers out for this printer, I have discovered that there is no driver available for Windows 8.1. Perhaps try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor to see if that will help with printing. If not, I would then suggest looking into an upgraded printer which will have more up to date software and would most likely function with 8.1.

  • Installing Windows 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 3451 with SSD (Crucial BX100 256GB)

    Hey,
I have a problem with the clean installation of Windows 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 3451 laptop with SSD (256GB Crucial BX100).
The problem is that the installer does not see the disk, prompts you to install the driver. Secure boot disabled.
The disk is recognized in the BIOS. I can also change AHCI to IDE mode, because the BIOS does not have this option.
How do I solve this problem?

This is usually because the Windows installation does not come with a suitable driver for your disk interface. The disk interface concerned is often SATA. Go to your motherboard/laptop manufacturer's web site and download the appropriate driver. Place it on a floppy disk, USB stick or CD (uncompressed, if it is provided as a ZIP file or an EXE installer originally). Then, when the Windows install routine asks for it, you can provide it. Please note that switching to IDE mode is for testing purposes only and is not a way you want to run things. Neither do you want to choose RAID, as if you know enough to be messing with RAID you don't need my advice. You want to choose AHCI and you want SATA drivers on hand before starting to install Windows.

  • Solaris 8 on Dell Inspiron 3500 ?

    Hi!
Is there anyone who successfully installed Solaris 8 on a Dell Inspiron 3500 laptop? The problem is with the video card (NeoMagic) which is not automaticaly recognized by Solaris installer.
    Thanks for any advices,
    Claudiu

I am trying to install on a Dell Latitude laptop. I cant get very far though. Please see below:
I'm quite familiar with Solaris 8 and have done numerous installs
including dual boot on x86, and jumpstarts on Ultras.
I am trying to install x86 on a Dell laptop. No problems with setting up
the bios, and telling it to boot into the Solaris install menu. (from 1
    of 2 cd)
    My problem is this:
When I get to the language preference question, my keyboard mapping is
shot. I've tried numlock off and on, and used 3 different keyboards.
Laptop keyboard out of docking station, and two different keyboards
    while the Dell is docked.
Funny thing is, the mapping is fine until the point where the install
program wants language preferences entered. I tried various keys and the
whole mapping of the keys on the board is off.
As I mentioned, in the earlier phase of the install program, when it
asks if you want Jumpstart, the mapping is fine. I did not have this
problem on my x86 install on my tower, (same keyboard tested as bad on
the Dell) and used the exact same cd's (1 of 2) that sun sent.
So I tried to configure Jumpstart to get around the mapping. Booted the
Dell bios to boot from the network using BOOTP, which is the core
protocol that Jumpstart uses. No go. Used the procedure from the Sun
Admin 2 class, it is proven to work on an Ultra environment. No go on
    x86 though.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks much,
    Sam

  • Dell Inspiron Mini

I have a Dell Inspiron Mini computer and I want to do a manufacture reset, but it keeps wanting me to do a system restore which I have picked the earliest date, but still run into the same issues. I have tried to talk to Dell numerous times, but

  • Dell Inspiron 7000 - Dragon Assistant 3.0 Software Missing?

I purchased a 15.6" Dell Inspiron 7000 Laptop on 1-10-15 and it was supposed to come wiht Dragon Assistant, Voice Recognition Software pre-installed.  It is NOT, however anywhere on this machine.  It is advertised as being on the Laptop - both in the store, and on bestbuy.com.  The following is the Laptop information:
    Model: I7547-3020SLV
    SKU: 8733845
I do NOT wish to return this system because I have already spent hours setting it up and tranferring files from my old system.  Is there some download or a CD that you can send me?  Thank you!

    Hi danbon94,
I’m sorry to hear that your Dell laptop doesn’t have the Dragon Assistant installed as it should have. We entrust the manufacturers to deliver their devices to us with all of the appropriate pre-installed software. I greatly appreciate you sharing this information with me in regards to your Dell laptop, as it is concerning if devices are not arriving with all of the software advertised.
While the easiest way for us to correct this would be to process an exchange in hopes the new laptop would come with the software, I completely understand why you wouldn’t want to do that. In my experience, it can take some time to set up a new computer to your exact specifications and transfer any existing files from a previous computer.  Please know I’m sending you a private message to gather further information in regards to your purchase and to see what options we may have for you. • Dell Inspiron 7000 Windows 8 Dual Monitor Setup

    Dell Inspiron 7000 Windows 8
    DVI and HDMI video outputs.
I want to connect two monitors. The Best Buy rep says use and DVI to VGA cable with splitter. However, I spoke to tech support reps here at work who set up and support computers and they said that may not work and if it does the displays may not extended but be mirrors of each other.. At work I use a higher end dell with the traditional docking station. The Dell Inspiron does not have that option. Using a cable is easier that purchasing what amounts to a usb hub that is called a USB 3.0 dual video docking station.

    Hi,
I have the same issue here... I tried the adapter either for VGA or HDMI, but it still didn't work....Could you please let me know how to fix it? I used Dell before and everything was fine but only for this series... really waste me a lot of time to find an answer to fix it but didn't work....sigh..Thanks

  • Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop wont connect to router anymore

Eveything was great untl I had to change the encryption code on the router, now I cant get the laptop to connect to the router anymore. Nothing was changed on the computer and the only thing that was changed on the router was the encryption code. The Dell laptop has a 1370 mini wireless card in it running windows XP, and I updated it last night to the latest driver. My Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop has no problem connecting to it. The wireless router is a WRT54GS. I have also started wireless zero configuration and checked the box to let windows control my wireless. And the box in properties that says "Enable IEEE 802.1authentication for this network" is not checked.
Sometimes when I try to connect it, it will say connected when it isnt connected to anything. Other times when I try to connect it will connect to another wireless internet in the neighborhood that doesnt have any encryption. And then other times I get the message that says "windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network". I got it to connect when I took the the encryption off the router but for some reason it doesnt want to connect with encryption on it. I am using WEP 64bit. I checked all the settings on both the laptops and the wireless settings are exactly the same. I dont understand why mine will connect and the other one wont.  Any ideas?

You can try manually adding the network on your computer, Also change the SSID on the router if it is linksys(default).
To add the network manually try the below mentioned settings.......
Click on Start and go to the Control Panel and double click on Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection disable it and then Re-enable it .
Right click on Wireless Network Connection and click on Properties,Now on this window, click on the second tab Wireless Network and give a check mark on "Use windows to configure my wireless" and then remove all the network names present in the Preferred Networks Window. Then click on OK...
Right click on the Wireless Network Connection again and click on View Available Wireless Networks and try to re-connect to your network...
Now it will give you the opportunity to put the network/security key, make sure you enter the correct network key and confirm it...
    It will connect...
That should resolve the issue for you.

  • Dell Inspiron 7000 series dual monitor issue

Today tried to connect Dell Inspiron 7437 to external monitor using HDMI cord; it did not work. I changed setting to external monitor only and now cannot get an image on laptop screen or external monitor when HDMI cord is connected. Tried to restart computer; still goes to blank screen as soon as I plug in HDMI.
    1. How to a return to default setting for laptop display so it's only set to laptop?
    2. Is it possible to connect inspiron 7000 to external monitor with hdmi?
    Thank you

    Hello,
Yes, it is possible to connect the Inspiron 7000 series to an external monitor using an HDMI cable.  Normally you can control how the video is displayed by using the <FN>+<F8> key combination.  Normally your options are LCD only, duplicate display on the LCD & the external monitor, or just display on the external monitor (projector mode).  Try that key combination to see if you can toggle between the available displays.
One thing you also might want to check to see is if that monitor is set to a resolution that your system cannot handle.  Here is a link to the product support pages for the Inspiron 7437, and you will find user manuals on the page that will help explain which resolutions your video card can handle.  You may need to set your monitor back to default settings (see your user manual for that monitor for details) and that should enable your system to send video to it.
Let me know if any of this helps or if you have additional questions.

  • HP ELite L2201x and Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop?

Hi, I bought an HP Elite L2201x Monitor, and I want to connect it to my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop.
I got a display port to HDMI port cable but my laptop doesn't recognize at all the HP monitor, it is like if it were not there!
Any advice? I thought about using the port I use to conect to a proyector, but idk if that makes sense at all!
    Thanks for your help!!!

    >I got a display port to HDMI port cable but my laptop doesn't recognize at all the HP monitor, it is like if it were not there!
display port and HDMI are two completely different solutions.
Also a display port source can deliver hdmi signals (so this way the cable will work), a hdmi source often (always?) can't support dp signals.
This is how I understand this FAQ:
    From http://www.displayport.org/faq/;
Q: I am the owner of a new 27″ iMac, which I was planning to use as a high- resolution display for an HDMI equipped Blu-Ray player. I have purchased the DP-to-HDMI adaptor after being advised by Apple technical that it would function as an input, but having tried it, discovered that the device will only OUTPUT. My question is, why won’t the adaptor pass signal the other way, and what is the adaptor doing if it’s not powered, and it’s tiny, that it can’t do backwards?
A: DisplayPort-to-HDMI adaptors and DisplayPort-to-DVI adapters are very simple and only operate one way. For instance, when a DP-to-HDMI adaptor is connected to a PC that supports DP++ (multimode) capability, the PC senses the presence of the adaptor and sends HDMI signals over the DisplayPort connector rather than DisplayPort signals. No signal conversion is performed by the HDM adaptor. HDMI signals are merely passed through. The unique DisplayPort adaptor capability enables the PC to connect to a variety of displays via the DisplayPort connector including HDMI, DVI, and VGA. VGA adaptors are more complex and perform active signal conversion from DisplayPort to VGA. These adaptors also operate only one way. Unfortunately, HDMI does not support conversion to other display formats as does DisplayPort.

  • Dell Inspiron 1525

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 (laptop) dual booting Vista and Solaris with GRUB. Yes, I read that Vista won't boot with GRUB. But when the machine rebooted so I could fix the MBR, it just worked. So, I didn't need to use BCDEDIT (and such).
All is well (in Solaris) except:
    1) Audio
    2) Wireless Net
    3) Net
    4) WebCam
1,2,4 are nice-to-have(s) for me. But, #3 is a need. I've read thru docs and installed the SKGEsol driver for the Marvell device. However, the device will not show-up in ifconfig. see...

Any advice is appreciated. And any info on #1,#2, and #4 is appreciated as well.
    The device break-down is..
    o Audio [SIGMATEL STAC 92XX]
o Cam [Creative Labs Laptop.. Web Cam]
o Wireless Net [Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN]
    o Net [Marvell 88E80XX]
I've mostly searched around for networking; just 'cause it will lead to other things being easier - so I don't have to reboot and such.
    Anyway, thanks in advance.
    Other stuff..
    - Solaris boots much faster than Vista and the drive light even goes off after the login screen shows for a few seconds. In Vista, the booting is slower and even after the login comes-up, the disk light stays on for several minutes (???).
