Web Flavour Lost !!!

Hi,
I have gone through some web frameworks struts/WebWork/Java Server Faces JSR, all these tend to produce another markup language similar to HTML.
Of course this pertains to tag libraries. If that is the case then we loose the ability to edit our jsp pages. The WYSIWYG maxim of the Web pages is lost.
As far as I know there is no editor which currently supports this kind of editing the jsp pages. May be we can look forward for some after the JSR release this december.
I am not totally against the taglibraries, Yes we need them just to handle dynamic generation of data( for MVC separation) and not the HTML content as such.
As I see it all the frameworks provide a tag library for each and every corresponding HTML tag, which I feel is unnecessary.
Why can't we build a framework wherein the HTML tags are present in the jsp pages as such and not dumped from tag libraries. This will to a great extent enable the WYSIWYG maxim, thus enabling us to exploit the powers of the HTML editors.
There are some other propriety scripting engine(velocity etc), which I am not in for. So why can' t the Java Server Faces platform turn from this approach and provide a much cleaner solution.

I think you guys are on to something here.
At the start of this forum it says
"JSP Pages let you put segments of servlet code into a static HTML page."
But most of time I use JSP as a java program with segments of HTML put into it. It just seems easier to develop that way. Making changes in a jsp file is easy. The following is an illustration.

I am using a special kind of a servlet( a JSP ) to do just that.

Web configuration lost when upgrading to advanced server admin

Hello,
after setting correctly the basic configuration,and setting the web servives, we did the upgrade to advanced option and then we focues to other apple problems like getting network connection, starting xgrid,etc), and then is when we realized that the web settings, server name, etc were lost when we moved to the advanced server admin.

I would most emphatically recommend that you get your boss to sign off on you having no liability nor culpability for any results of work he expects you to do "on the side".
People study and learn for years - and appropriately so ! - in order to accomplish this kind of work effectively and efficiently.
If you are learning and have a non-production environment to work with and potentially wipe & reinstall where need be, then by all means, go for it (start learning).
But otherwise your boss should accept that s/he is getting what they're paying for, and since it is nothing, they should be prepared for that.
It is neither technically nor professionally advisable to foist a task such as this on someone and expect the result(s) to be that of a trained professional in that field. The fundamental concern is the disconnect there, and the unacceptable risk this situation could put you in, either now or in the future.
To the matter at hand, I generally recommend strongly against an upgrade, as compared to a (verified good) backup, wipe and reinstall and configure from the outset as "Advanced."
For computer management, you will want to run your server as an Open Directory Master,
and as such, you must must must have verified working DNS lookup(s) for your server's FQDN, prior to proceeding with re-installing & reconfiguring it.

Ibooks author web links lost when preview to iPad

Created a long book with ibooks author including links to web sites. Works fine on Mac version but when I open the book on iPad ibooks, web links are lost and default to apple web site. What do I do to retain links for iPad version of ibooks?

No, catually I can't. I don't see my iPad nor my iPhone either in Image Capture, iPhoto, iTunes. They are nowhere. I even tried 3 different dock-USB cables. The cables are ok and I can charge the devices. But they won't be recognized by all the apps. This never happened before. The only thing that has changed recently is that I installed OSX Lion. Any connection ? What happened????

Web sites lost when I reinstalled sofware

I had 2 web sites that I designed using iWeb.
I had to replace my hard drive and reinstall sofware.
Now I lost my web sites, when I start iWeb the left window where my 2 web sites used to appear is empty.
I noticed that I have the files that belong to 1 of my web sites is in the folder marked Sites in a back-up, when I copied these files to the Sites folder of the newly reinstalled software, it still does not appear on the left window of iWeb. It is still as if I am using iWeb for the very first time.
How can I recover my 2 web site files? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

The file you need to use with iWeb for managing your websites is named Domain.sites or Domain.sites2 depending on the version of iWeb your using, 2 or 3. They would be located in your Home/Library/Applications Support/iWeb folder.
If you didn't have a backup of your drive before it crashed and was replaced you won't be able to recover them and will have to rebuild your sites from scratch.
If you do have to rebuild from scratch this would be the time to switch to a supported, up to date web site application as iWeb has been unsupported/dead for about 2 years now.
If you search the iWeb forum for "iWeb replacement" or "iWeb alternate" you'll find many topics discussing them. One that many have gravitated to is EverWeb which is very iWeb like in its user interface and drag and drop capabilities. However, it is much more advanced that iWeb was.

I had to reformat my computer. I lost my file from my web muse. Can I download my website published to muse?

It is unfortunately not able to import a published site into Muse. Muse is able to open only the native .muse files.

All WEB links lost in an iOS 6 numbers sheet

Hi,
I work with Numbers '09 on an iMac. Lately I bought an iPad and installed the iOS Numbers application to be able to work with my Number sheets in iCloud.
So 1 sheet in iCloud and updating it with Numbers on iMac and Numbers on iOS.
From the moment on I open the sheet on my iOS device it warns me that it will lose all hyperlinks ( WEBlinks ). And that is what it does and leaves my sheet useless on iOS and iMac !
Is there a solution ?
Secondly, there is no way to access the files in iCloud using Finder, which should be an obvious posibility. Accessing via the WEB interface is quite bothering.
I though to use iMac and iOS devices using the same files in an easy and simple way, but it does not work and it is not easy.
Are there solutions ??

Hi,
I sorted it out by myself by reading the internet and doing some tests. Here goes my idea about iOS numbers and the iCloud.
iMac MAC OS Numbers 09 is NOT compatible with iOS numbers
And that is it. The iOS version is made for people using iPhone and iPad, the Numbers 09 running on iMac is made for MAC OS.
Trying to share a numbers sheet via iCloud between iMac, iPhone and iPad means that you will LOSE all hyperlinks saved in a sheet, which could be Web portals and Email addresses. iOS Numbers asks you to make copies of the sheet to be edited, but that is a 10 years back in time practice. iOS numbers is useless for my purposes.
iMac integration of iCloud
First, in iCloud you can only share Apple related files by compatible applications. There is NO integration with Finder, the Apple file explorer! Access is only possible via WEB or compatible applications, like Numbers.
iCloud is an iOS inspired product. The uif is identical. In fact, it is not straight forward to be used from iMac as there is no special MAC OS application, either Filer integration. DropBox is preferable to be used, because it is accessible from Filer, Web, applications, iPhone, iPad. It is compatible with all OS's and integrated in Filer !
iCloud is wonderful for synchronization between Apple products like Contacts, Calendar, Safari, iMessage, but not for documents and files ( until today )

Atomic Web Browser - Lost Bookmarks

I've been using this browser for a while now and I've more or less fallen in love with it. The tabs are much more Chrome-ish than in Safari (making them 100 000 times better in my book) and it really seems designed around the touch-screen interface. I did notice some slight bugs and even a few crashes, but this was only when I would try and open 15+ Tabs supimultaneously.
Just today though, I don't know what I did, the browser went and deleted all the bookmarks I had put on it. I couldn't find anyway to transfer my desktop bookmarks from Chrome, so I had to do it the old fashioned way, one at a time... I hadn't assembled my entire collection, but I had a working set of resources going. And then this happens! It's very frustrating because I don't know if he might go and do it again.
I was playing with the privacy and password settings. I gave it a try, thinking it would be cool, but I decided to remove it after a while. Imputing a code every time I open the app was getting annoying. And right after I did, all my bookmarks were gone. The strangest this is that I tried to reproduce the effect (to make sure it was the password or privacy settings that did this) but the bookmarks stay fine this time! I have no idea what caused it.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Safari web windows lost in IOS5

IOS5 has replaced the background mini-window views of open web pages with tabs at the top of the screen. I may be the only user who prefers a color visual of the page to a grey tab truncated to about three unrecognizable letters, but I really would like to restore the old feature. Any idea how this might be done without reverting to the entire older operating system?

Safari on iOS 5 uses tabbed browsing, and downgrading to a previous version that had thumbnail/page browsing is not supported. You can try leaving feedback and maybe in a future release we'll get the option of tabs or thumbnails : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Third-party browsers might support thumbnails/pages - I think I've seen somebody say that iCab does

Latest Verizon Messages web update lost contact names?

I use Verizon Messages all the time on my phone and the web. Last night's update for the web client has removed the capability of assigning a contact name to the people in a conversation. When you click on the down arrow next to the phone number, there is no longer the capability of adding this number as a contact.
Help?!?! Who remembers phone numbers anymore. I need to be able to assign at least a first name to my conversations. The sync'ing of all my contact info doesn't work with backup assistant because I keep my contacts in Google Contacts, not on my phone directly.
Can we please get manual contact name assignments back?

Web.de lost all my emails can I merge an old global-messages-db.sqlite with my current one?

When I check my old global-messages-db.sqlite file from my windows backup the emails still semm to be in there, can I somehow merger/ extract these mails into my current account?

global-messages-db.sqlite is a search index. It doesn't contain entire messages.
Restore a recent backup of your profile folder instead.

Downloaded firefox 4 and what a mess, wont let me use some web pages lost many bookmarks, what is happening

i downloaded firefox 4, what a mess cant get to some websites, made a mess of bookmarks and cant add new bookmarks. what has happened.

WebI report lost Universe Objects

Hi Guys,
I need some help urgently.
We have a report that was connected to 3 Universe.
I changed the universe on one of the queries to a new universe.
When I added a new universe and built new reports, it seems to have removed the objects in the other queries that belong to the other queries. Now when I am trying to attach the old universes to the old queries, it cannot find a match for objects in the new query.
I am very confused as to why changing universe in one query has changed the other universe and removed the objects.
I am also not able to find why when I try to add the old universe, it tries to attach that to the new query.
How do I get my old objects and universes back to my other queries?
Please help.

Hello, do you have a backup of the report, or another similar version that works?
Not sure exactly what you did, but you never want to remove or change a universe in a report, unless you know what parts of the report depend upon it. When you changed the universe, did you re-map all of the objects to the ones in the new universe? It should have forced you to, unless the old one had been deleted.
Also, the other queries may have been connected to the original universe, meaning they had merged dimensions or other possible connections.
Do you have any sort of backup of the original universe/report that you can revert to that would tell you what depended on this other universe?

External Web Service setting for Supplier Registration ROS to EBP

We are working on Supplier registration scenario where potential supplier are accepted in ROS client and then transferred to EBP via Suppliers Directory.
For this we have defined External Web Service in both clients ROS and EBP
Can anyone tell me what are the Parameters and setting required to define External Web Service?
We have created New Web Service with following parameters in both the clients ROS and EBP.

With this setting system does display the Suppliers Directory option in Supplier Screening (Suppliers Directory in ROS Client), however after selecting suppliers directory instead of listing the accepted supplier to transfer to EBP, system displays the same suppliers Prescreen again with no option to transfer accepted supplier to EBP client.
I think I have not set the External Web services setting properly ..
So can anyone send me the correct web service parameter setting?

Where can we debug the error message?

WebI losing Mapping after BW Query element addition

We are on 4.1 SP1. We have this WebI on top of BW Query via BICS. After creating simple report, we added one element in BW Query and then changed data source and picked same query, NOW WebI has lost its mapping and there is no report.. Please see attached document and advise ,, Thanks a lot

You should not have to use ChangeSource feature at all in this case, ChangeSource is intended for switching from UNV to UNX/BICS source or when you want to change Universe/BEx Query ...
Here you just want to have a refreshed Universe on top of same BEx Query, which should work fine already if you edit query in WebIntelligence. In background there is a transient Universe generated each time so it takes into account modifications brought to your Query. (this is similar to what a refresh structure and then publish to Platform would do)
Did you close your session before adding object and loading QueryPanel ? There could be some cache bringing same old Universe without leveraging your changes ...
To make it safe I would save WebI document, close BILaunchpad session, re-logon and edit document and finally load QueryPanel : this would make sure no previous resources are being used when editing document.
If you still have problems at this point then please create a ticket to Support to have it investigated.

Migrating workspace from 9.2 to 10.2 issues

We migrated a Workhop 9.2 portal project to Workshop 10.2 portal project with 9.2 runtime
Here are the issues during migration
1) Portal Web project lost all references to the utlity projects during migration. We added it mnaually
2) We had lot of jsp's in the portal web project. App X RAY is really slowing down the build process validating the jsp's. Tuning off the App Xray validations for the web project did not help
3)Publishing the project failing with the Null Pointer in ejbc. It was gone when -Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0 was added to the workshop ini file
4) Our run time is 9.2. But the publish is still deploying the libraries for 10.x ( p13n-web-lib(10.0.0,10.0.1) and lot of these libraries). Why it is doing this?
5) Publishing is failing with java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.beehive.netui.pageflow.PageFlowCont
extListener error
