When I shut my iphone 4 off and then turned it back on it said it need restored. But when I tried to restore it on itunes it said it couldn't go through with the task. What do I do?
What do I do?
Has the phone ever been jailbroken or hacked in any way? Has the computer you are using ever been used to hack any iPhone, or downgrade one with a utility such as tinyumbrella? If so the hosts file on your computer is corrupted, and you will have to fix that.
This problem has also been reported by people who tried to install a bootleg copy of iOS 5. Could this be your problem?
If none of these apply your security software may be blocking access to Apple's activation servers. Try disabling it or using a different computer. And you can always take it to an Apple store if convenient and they will restore it for you or fix it if it's broken.

My iphone will shut off and then turn itself back on
I plugged my Iphone in( at60%) and then made a facetime call during the call I noticed my phone was still stuck on 60% after the call I unplugged the phone, plugged it back in nothing happend. So then I hard reset it and it said I had 97% then I decied to turn it off and back off and it went down to 92% now it keeps randomly shutting itself off and turning itself back on every 5-10 minutes. I tried restoring it but Itunes says it cant connect to the update server and to try again. What do I do?
You should try backing up the data, restoring the device as new and try if that solves the problem. NB: set up as NEW device, don't restore with backup, because a software issue will also be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, the device needs service.

My HP Photosmart will not print anything until I turn it off and then turn it back on.
I have a HP Photosmart Model C-309a Product Number CC335A
All of a sudden, my printer stopped working and refused to print anything sent to it unless I actually press the power button to turn the printer off. Then if I press the power button again to turn it on, it prints the document from the print spooler. I have no idea what caused this or how to fix it. You suggestions are very much appreciated.
Thank you.
Marky Marcmarkymarc99,
Lets start with checking out our software/drivers to eliminate them as a possibility. Download and run the print and scan doctor located here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
Best of Luck!

My iTunes remote app on my ipad mini will work fine for a while and then it will lose the library. I then have to turn off sharing on the computer and then turn it back on. This will work for a while and then I will have to repeat the process. Help!
I have just found the problem to be windows firewall on my library PC
I can only presume there has been an update to windows firewall or iTunes
all the relevant programs were on the allowed list
I'm now currently running with firewall turned off on my library PC.
I'll update when i have found the rogue setting. -

Have Officejet j5780. Replaced #74 black ink. Did cartridge alignment. Pressed OK button. Hear cartridges aligning. j5780 begins to print. Then suddenly, the words, "turn off and then turn on" are on and power button is flashing on j5780's screen. Rebooted a couple times. Unplugged power cord from j5780 and from wall outlet. Then plugged power cord to outlet then to j5780. Power button is on. Then it begins with same problem. At this moment j5780 power cord is unplugged. When I plug power cord to j5780 and outlet power button is off. When press power button problem is still there.
The document here may help resolve the "turn off then on" message on your Officejet J5780.
You mentioned turning on the power outlet switch. Using an external switch with an inkjet printer may cause issues, the printer outlet the printer is plugged into should always be live. Using an external switch can allow the printheads to be left uncapped, which will cause them to dry out. It will also cause extra ink usage as more ink will be used for startup when power is applied. This is not likely related to your current issue, but for the future please leave the outlet switch "on" for any outlet with an inkjet printer.

when i go to my music and play a song it sounds like my headphones are blown but when i play songs on youtube they sound fine, can anyone explain this to me? please and thank you
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
I keep getting the spinning ball and have to turn off and then turn on again
Hello,
I keep getting the spinning ball and however long I leave it it still continues. The only way to continue is to turn off, wait and then turn on again.
I am by no means an expert so would appreciate any help.
Many thanks
SueSue,
I would recommend carefully reading this article to trouble shoot your problem.

Hubby's phone has switched itself off and won't switch back on. As far as we know it's fully charged, can't check as got a blank screen but does buzz when charger is plugged in. Has been left on charge for quite some time. As you will gather, I am sending this on his behalf.
A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.

Basically, I don't know any better way to turn it off than to try closing the program or rebooting the computer. Rebooting usually works, as in the following instance which happens occasionally: I close Firefox, move on to another task, and then try to open Firefox again and am told that Firefox is still running and that I must try to close it again or reboot. Trying to close it again is impossible because for all I can see, it is closed. So, I reboot and can then successfully start Firefox. That is a nuisance that I would like to remedy. I was hoping that the update of the program might resolve the problem, but I can't get the update to work, as explained above.
Hello,
I would like to strongly recommend that you update your version of Flash Player to our currently released version (17.0.0.169) and enable auto updates. The version you are using is insecure and opening your computer (and all of your data) to being easily exploited by bad guys.
As for the error you are receiving, this is most likely a restriction from the website. Each developer is able to specify what the required minimum version of Flash and require their users to have at least that version installed. The detection that is occuring and the message that you are seeing on the website isn't part of Flash Player, but instead part of the website's code.
If you go to this page and click the "Check Now" button, what is displayed (OS, browser and version number)? Do you see the "tree" animation playing below?

I turned it off manual then restarted it only to get the beach ball of doom. I tried all the different reboots suggested in the manual without success. I'm not tech savvy so would appreciate very clear instructions if you have a suggestion that doesn't show up in Apple's as to how to get rid of the beach ball. Many thanks. Jude
Jude,
You can do a couple of things. The first thing I'd try is restarting in Safe Mode. To do that when you hear the startup tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar appear. Let it fully boot, while you're in Safe Mode open Disk Utility(Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility) and Repair Disk Permissions. While you're in Disk Utility also run Repair Disk. After completing the 2 DU actions then restart normally to test the machine. -
More explanation:
I was listening to music today in class and was asked to put it away. So naturally I locked it and left the head phones in. Later on in the day icame back to it to listen to some music and I unlocked it ( it still had the head phones in it ) an was going to listen to some music but it started to play through the external speaker and the headphones were still plugged in so I unplugged and repluggedthem on and it worked! But it just keeps doing this and I keep having to unplugg and replug them in and that is really inconvenient! So I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and maybe you could tell me how to fix it? Btw I have a forth gen iPod just invade that helps.
Thanks, Matt. The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup... Restore as New...
Try this First...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first.. -
can any one tell me what i'm doing wrong I've gone to support and it tells me nothing, my icloud does not send what I download to all my devices, I also can't seem to delete the photo's I have on my phone, I do what it says to do then when I turn photo stream back on it re downloads the same pic's to my phone. what am I doing wrong?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you got Photostream enabled on the same account on the other devices.
turning Photostream off on a device just stops it syncing with that device it doesn't reset photo stream, you have to do that by resetting from iCloud.com (click on your account name) -
The volume icon stucks on my screen making it hard to read emails, games, etc....also advertisements freeze on my screen so I have to turn the phone off then back on to move to a different screen....any suggestions??
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup
