You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

Seems like the downloaded file was corrupt that could be because of either network restriction or the anti virus might have blocked it. My suggestion would be to try and download the product either by turning off the Antivirus or try a different network.

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.

Just in case the component being referenced is not part of iTunes but is rather part of one of the other related programs, it might be worth trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related componentry, as per the following troubleshooting document:

If you're able to connect to your email server and are able send email to other email addresses and if the failures are specific to one email recipient address, then please contact the intended recipient of the failing email, and confirm their address is valid. If you are unable to send any email to any other email addresses and this is specific to your email address, then try the web mail client interface (if one is available) to verify your login user and password, and check with your email ISP for assistance. You'll need to get the specs for these videos and set up your Premiere Elements project accordingly. (MOV is just the package for the files. It tells you nothing of the video specs.)

Exact same thing is happening to me. Couldn't find where to view the Itunes version number after a quick look. I hate the "simplified" interface by the way. On windows 8.1. Really starting to hate itunes, very buggy, and apple device locked down content (I'm looking at you TV shows and Movies) make it a pain to use.

To everyone that is having this problem:
I just ended a 2 hour session with Apple Tech Support. We had to take it to a level 2 support person, but finally got it running. Here's what she had me do. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall ALL Apple products on the Computer. This inccluded Apple Mobile Device Itunes, Bonjour and Quicktime. I doubt if we would have had to but she had me download a fresh copy of iTunessetup.exe and run it. iTunes came up and ran on version 11.1.4. Then I reinstalled Quicktime.
It is my personal opinion that there is a flaw in version 11.1.4. You shouldn't have to go through all of these hoops just to update a single application that was working fine proir to the update attempt.
