When Sending in an iPod for Repairs...?

I filled out the info online, and had the empty box shipped to me, but I have never received a single email or instruction sheet about it, so I am curious, when I send in my iPod, do I just send it in the box al by itself, or is there some type of documentation I am supposed to include?
My main question is how will they know who it belongs to and what the problem with it is?
Do they just go by the serial number on the back?
Do I at least need to include the case ID or repai ID?
O_o
Thanks!!

Personally, I would include as much information as possible, including name, contact info, details of problem, serial number and any case or repair ID (and keep a copy for yourself). Worst thing you could be doing is duplicating information.

  • HT1438 I just put in a request to send in my ipod for repairs, what is the actual address I send my iPod to?

Just need an address to send my ipod out too.  I filled out the online form to send in my ipod, paid the bill with my visa, now I need to know "where" to send it.  Didn't see an address

Apple should contact you for a shipping address and of how to ship. Contact Apple if the do not send you the information. Make sure you included the case/repair number if you contact them.

  • If i send in my iPod for repair, will my data be deleted?

Just Curious, since it's more expensive to fix than it is to buy a new one.

Yes. Apple exchanges your iPod for a refurbished one. Apple does not transfer any data
    Apple says:
Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No, you will receive a replacement iPod that will not contain any of your data and songs. Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPod and does not offer any data transfer service.
iPod touch customers: Before obtaining service, you can back up your data using iCloud or iTunes. Following service, your replacement iPod touch may have a newer version of the operating system (iOS) and you will need to restore your data using the method used to back it up (iCloud or iTunes). You may also need to update your App Store apps for compatibility with the newer iOS. If you experience a problem with an app purchased from the App Store, check iTunes to see if an update is available or contact the app developer directly.

  • What do I need to do when sending my iPad in for warranty repair?

What do I need to do when sending my iPad in for warranty repair? I live too far away from an apple store so they told me to send it in using UPS but that's about all they told me. I have looked on the website but have found no additional information. What all do I need to do besides backing it up and what all do I need to send? Thanks in advance.

  • TS4036 I recently had to send my iphone off for repair and when it came back they had restored it t factory settings. Is there any way I can get my music and photos back from icloud ??

I recently had to send my iphone off for repair and when I have got it back it has been reset to factory settings. Can I get my phonos, music etc back through icoulds ?

If your backup is incomplete you won't be able to use it.  Do you have any backups on your computer?  (You can check by opening iTunes and going to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Edit>Preferences>Devices on a PC).  That will list any available backups on your computer.

  • Sending iPhone 4 off for repair...

My iPhone 4 has been coming up with ''no service'' when I put in my o2 sim (it is unlocked for o2). I have decided to send off my iPhone for repair, at a fee of £126. What's next? Has anyone experienced this problem before, and were Apple able to fix the problem?

Have you tried some of the basic steps such as
reboot, restore, and restore as new?

  • How do I send my MBP in for repairs?

This is probably a really obvious answer, but for some reason I can't figure it out. I'm having the typical logic board errors (random restarts, sometimes won't boot up, and the whining noise). I just enrolled my AppleCare plan, and I'd like to send my MBP in for repairs as soon as possible (I start college in two weeks). How exactly do I do that?

If you take your machine into the store, they will not be able to repair it within 45 minutes. The best you could hope for is a 1-2 day turnaround. However, it is extremely likely that they will not be able to do a logic board repair in-store within a few days. Instead, they will send your machine into a repair center, and you can pick it up from the store when it comes back.
Alternatively, you could call Apple Care and they will send you a box to ship it in. When the repairs are done Apple Care will ship it back to you directly. This is nice because you wouldn't have to drive to the store.
The problem with either of these strategies is that it seems there is currently a shortage of MBPRO-15 logic boards. So if you send your machine in, there's no telling how long it will be before you get it back. Some users are reporting quick 3-4 day turnarounds, but many users are reporting 3-4 week turnarounds!
What I would suggest is driving to the store and having a Genius there diagnose your machine. They will likely agree that you are in need of a logic board replacement. If so, you might be able to convince them to order a logic board for an in-store repair. This way you could hold onto your machine until the logic board arrives, and when it does they should be able to install it with a 1-2 day turnaround. I realize it is a hassle to drive back and forth, but this way you don't run the risk of being without your notebook for an extended period of time.

  • HT2458 Has anyone else who uses AT&T as their carrier been told if you cannot access your voicemail through your iPhone that there is no way to check your voicemails? This is an issue since I had to send my phone in for repair. Thank you

Has anyone else who uses AT&T as their carrier been told if you cannot access your voicemail through your iPhone that there is no way to check your voicemails? This is an issue since I had to send my phone in for repair. Thank you

You received incorrect information from AT&T.  You can indeed access your voicemail without your iPhone.
Call AT&T at (800) 331-0500 (assuming you're in the U.S.).  This is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week number.  Ask them how to access your voicemail.  Normally, you would just do this by dialing your number from another phone, typing "*" once your voicemail recording starts, and entering your password.  You don't know your password, so it's probably the last four digits of your phone number or perhaps the seven - or ten-digit phone number.  Let the AT&T person tell you.

  • What is the exact address I send my phone to for repairs?

what is the exact address I send my phone to for repairs?

That is not how it works.
In the U.S. for example, if an exchange under warranty is approved over the phone, AppleCare ships the replacement iPhone and the box the replacement iPhone is shipped with is used to send AppleCare the iPhone being exchanged under warranty.
No one arbitrarily ships their iPhone to Apple for repair. They won't accept the shipment for starters and an iPhone will be exchanged under warranty if needed, not repaired.

  • I brought iphone 5s to local i centre in Armenia, they opened the phone and said that they can't solve the problem, is it possible to send it to US for repair ?

I brought iphone 5s to local i centre in Armenia, they opened the phone and said that they can't solve the problem, is it possible to send it to US for repair ?

If some unauthorized shop opened the iPhone and attempted a repair, then Apple will no longer touch the iPhone. If they didn't attempt repairs, then Apple might be willing to service it, but only in the country in which the iPhone was originally sold. If that was in the US, then you will need to take the iPhone there yourself, or you will need to send the iPhone to someone you know in the US who can take or send it to Apple for service and then send it back to you. Apple will not accept shipments from outside the country.
    Regards.

  • Will I still be able to send my iPhone 5S for repair even if I don't have its proof of purchase?

Yesterday, I got a problem with my iPhone 5S. When I updated it to iOS 8.1, it restarted along with the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). When it rebooted, it stuck in recovery mode, and when I want to restore it, it won't. It will display the status bar that it's restoring the firmware and when it reached halfway, it will turn blue screen then reboot and back again to the recovery mode. I contacted apple for this and they suggested to have my device for repair because it's a hardware problem.
So the real problem is, I've forgotten my receipt where did I put it. So now I don't have the proof of purchase for my iPhone. Can I present the original iPhone Box as a proof of purchase instead of the receipt? Please help me for this, I really need to fix my phone ASAP and I don't know if I would be able to send to apple knowing that I don't have its proof of purchase.
P.S. How long will it take for Apple to fix my device?
    Thank you!

Apple doesn't repair iPhones, other than some stores being able to replace the screen for a fee. They replace it with another of the same capacity, color, etc, as the one you have.
You should be able to get an Out of Warranty replacement for $269 USD. Bring it to an Apple store and they can tell you for sure.

  • Why won't apple let me send my phone in for repair?

My phone is unfortunately water damaged so I want to send it to get repaired.
After filling in the online form on the Apple support page a few days ago I realised I didn't have the £185 it quoted for the repair so I thought I'd leave it until I'd got paid to send for repair.
Now 3 days later, when I fill in the form online to send my phone for repair, once I get to the 'detailed quote and payment' tab, it redirects me to a page that says 'We're unable to complete the repair. Please try again or choose another solution.'
Does anyone have any idea why it seemed to be working fine a few days ago but now just displays this message? I've filled the form in so many times that I feel like I'm going crazy.
I would take it into an Apple Store but there isn't one locally.
    Any advice?

If, as you said in your first post, there isn't an Apple Store you can get to, call Apple support and talk to them. As Tim suggested, it may be due to your having a repair order open already. If you call Apple, they should be able to get you set up.
    Regards.

  • I was given the wrong macbook when I gave mine in for repair.  I want to complain.  Also, they wiped ALL my data off the hard drive.  I want to complain to someone in authority.  How?

I am extremely disappointed and angry with Apple service.  I am a writer and booked three weeks in Spain so that I could finish my book.  On the second day my laptop cut out on me asI was working on it, so I took it to Goldenmack in Cadiz.  Not only was I given someone else's macbook when I went back to collect it, but then when I returned to the UK, the Apple shop in Brighton managed to delete ALL my data from the hard drive because I was unlucky enough to get a trainee on her first day.  I have since learned she should not have deleted my data without even running a diagnostic.  She told me she was going to 'restore' the drive.  I took this to mean she was going to restore my work.  But no!  She erased the lot.
I complained and eventually was put in touch with a supervisor, who I was told  had authority to resolve the issue. She said she would get the shop to phone me.  That was ten days ago and I'm still waiting.
Ok so there's nothing I can do now to get back the three chapters of my book that I have lost and didn't back up, but the  hard drive on this laptop is still faulty.  I try to back up my work every time I use the machine but as soon as I attach an external drive, the whole thing shuts down. I can't use it any more as I can't risk losing any more work.    This laptop is only just over a year old and this is just not acceptable, especially since I have really looked after it.
This is an appalling service I have encountered from Apple, and I am not going to ignore it.  I have contacted the young chap whose laptop I was erroneously given, and the repair of which I paid for! (although I did eventually get a refund),  to ask him if he had been given mine as well.  He said he had been completely unaware that his laptop had been given to me and he is furious as he had loads of "sensitive material" on it."  I have no idea in whose hands my laptop has been either, or indeed what damage it sustained while it was supposed to be in for repair.
