Quick question, I'm thinking of upgrading my cpu (2.7 GHz AMD Dual-Core A6-4400M APU with Radeon HD 7520G/7670M Dual Graphics).
What processors can I upgrade to?

MacBook Pro Model A1261 Osx v10.5.8 -- which OS can I upgrade to?
A friend of mine has asked me to upgrade her MacBook Pro A1261 which still has the original OSX 10.5.8 on it. What is my best bet for upgrading? Which OSX can I upgrade to and everything still work as expected? She'd like to put on the latest and greatest, but I'm not certain this model will work w/ the latest.

Best to upgrade to SL and stick with that OS for a while until she upgrades her apps to the current version...
If she's not worried about her apps, then by all means, go ahead with the Lion upgrade.....But you need SL to get to Lion

View Solution.Hi, I have a HP Pavilion tx2500 Notebook PC with AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80 processor and a updated 6.0 RAM. I read on the manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03182899.pdf (on page 70) about all the types of processors that I can use.
Since then, the ZM - 87 and ZM - 88 came out. So can I upgrade to 87 or 88?
Also, am I limited to only AMD Turion processors? Can I upgrade to the new AMD Phenom™ II Processors ?
Can I also change from duel-core to quad? or even X6?
Lastly can i upgrade from 32-bit and 64-bit Window?
Overall, I just want to upgrade to the highest cpu processor as possible. -

The notebook was equipped with the Intel Core Duo (Yonah) CPU T2400 1.83GHz
So I presume these CPUs could be compatible:
Intel Core Duo
T2300(1.66GHz)
T2400(1.83GHz),
T2500 (2GHz),
T2600(2.16Gz) ,
T2700(2.33Gz)
Theoretically you could insert an T2700 (2.33Gz) but nobody can say if the notebook will run stable and properly after such upgrade. The stronger CPU produces more heat and the notebook could overheat after the upgrade. So its really not advisable to upgrade the CPU!!!

CAN'T UPGRADE BECAUSE CAN'T AFFORD FC STUDIO, SO OTHER PROBS ARISE!
This is a problem which is building one step at a time, and it begins with OSX upgrades. I had to stop at 10.4.8 because - as a long-time user (professionally) of Final Cut Pro, upgrading beyond that renders many aspects of my version (4.5 HD) useless along with DVD Studio Pro, Compressor, etc. (those bundled with it). I found out the hard way, and had to downgrade back to 10.4.8.
However, now items such as my Address Book, iCal and Mail - which I use because of the compatability issues we all used to love about Macs, are not sync-able on .mac. The systems says I must have the 'latest version' - which is part of the new operating system (which I can not upgrade to!)
Therefore my .mac account, my ability to access the info I need when at a remote location, all are stuck in the water because Mac will not 'support' Final Cut Pro 4.5HD... I appreciate how good Final Cut Studio is: I have purchased it for school's I work with and used it myself at work locations, but personally, the $699.00 upgrade to FC Studio is not feasible for me at this time. The $199.00 upgrade was offered only until March of this year - and it was not brought to my attention until it was too late and unaffordable.
Does anybody have any ideas? I am looking for solutions.. and appreciate your input.

I have used it, purchased it for some schools and kick myself every day i didn't get the 199 update info in time. i know they offered it for a while, but I was changing residences and missed out. I begged Apple to make an exception, but they refused. It's business. Truthfully, i need to just suck it up and get the FCS and yes - more gigs, Gig!
For now, live with my woes...most of work currently is done through a day job in the business, so my side businesses are not the priority any way. As you said G, I am sure I could make it back fairly quickly...
So quit whining, BH Weber!

My iPad mini iOS version is 6.0.2 which I can't upgrade to iOS 7. Message displayed during verifying upgrade is "Can't verify upgrade because you are no longer connected to the internet". This happens again and again though I am connected to the internet through wifi. What should I do?
Reset the iPad and try again. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Reset your router and try again. Unplug your router from power for about 30 seconds then plug it in again.
Try another WiFi Network. Go to a friend's house, a library, anywhere else that you can use a trusted WiFi network.
Try updating using iTunes on your computer. -

i didn`t try to upper the vcore because of my cpu cooler of xp 1700+...it`s copper/alu with a 60x60 fan and keeps my mobile @ max 55° under full load,but anyway i am afraid to go any higher!
as this is my second rig,i don`t want to spent much money on it ...
i keep my eyes open for a zalman 7000cu which i also have on my p4!or u suggest any better cooler for this price??

Iam Benji from Germany and ive got a question about my new Sattelite U400-15G.
Installed is a DualCore T3200, now ive fugured out, that the Notebook runs on a G45 Express Chipset
that supports much better Core2Duo CPUs with lower energy.
But i dont know exactly, which Cpu Port ive Got, and which FSB the maximum of my Notebook is...
800 / 1066 is what i find about the chipset G45 in the interhnet...but its quite better to ask here

I read here in the forum that the CPU upgrade is not supported by Toshiba
This means that even you will be able to upgrade the CPU, nobody will be able to say if your notebook would run stable or not furthermore the BIOS has not been designed for other CPUs and there is a high risk that there could be a compatibility issue.
Regarding the chipset:
Luke is right. The notebook has been equipped with Mobile Intel GL40 Express Chipset and with the Pentium Dual Core T3200 (2.00GHZ) 667MHZ CPU

PS: I dont understand why a CPU upgrade is so important for you; to be honest you will not notice any strong performance boosts after CPU upgrade and in my opinion the risks are too high that the notebook would not run stable -

I have a older ipod mini which needed a battery, so i also upgraded the drive to a 32 GB flash drive. When i did the upgrade, it saw the itunes fine, but it never loaded anything. When i unplug it it shows the folder with "!" icon, and i can't get my itunes to see it. I have a powerbook 667 mhz g4 with itunes 10.4.11, so i can't upgrade to leopard. All i wanted was a better battery and a bit more song volume. This older 4 GB will fit back in and works fine, but i'm upset i spent $37 to only fail. What am i doing wrong? itunes is 4.7.1 How can i over come this?In Disk Utility, select the iPod (the device) in the sidebar. So, if you see the iPod in the sidbar with a "volume" indented below the iPod, select the "device" (not the volume).
Go to the Erase tab to the right. The choice for Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Name does not matter, because iTunes will rename it during the Restore. Click Erase.

That may be an issue with the USB connection. As a test, shut down (power off) the Mac. Disconnect other USB devices including USB hub, except for standard USB keyboard and mouse (if normally used). SInce this is a laptop, connect it to its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.
Connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac. Note if there is any difference regarding the iPod not maintaining a connection. -

Hi Mary, the other so called "Features" of iClound will not work for like Syncing, but eMail will.
MobileMe & dot Mac will still work last I heard.

Don't delete your old account yet. Just setup a new one in Mail>Preferences>Accounts, little plus icon. Choose IMAP as account type, not ,mac or MobileMe.

Help! I want to upgrade to the new Mountain Lion OS but first need to upgrade rto 10.6.8. I'm currenty running 10.5.8. When i try the Software update from my desktop apple menu, it says i already have the most redent software. I tried downloading 10.6.8 but when i tried to run it said i first need 10.6, which i can't seem to find anywhere on the Apple site or internet. Any suggestions? Can i somehow not upgrade form 10.5.8 to 10.6 or higher?

I am using a Palm Pilot still for several purposes, and the desktop version can run om my Mac OS X 10.6.8, but I cannot find a version thjat runs on OS X Mavericks, which prevents me from upgrading as my PalmPilot is storage for vital info. Any solution?
Thank for for your suggestions. Unfortunately they are of little help. I am running on Snow Leopard and the PalmDesktop works fine. However, I do not want to quit my PalmTungsten unit as it is my backup for all my important access information. If it cannot run on Mavericks and no other solution is at hand, I simply will not update my OS X, but work on my Snow Leopard as it is.
I do not know how on earth I can migrate the information from my Palm into another system, and then quit the PalmPilot. If you have any intelligent solutions to this I would appreciate an input. A manual copy and paste solution is not acceptable. I may however run it on Windows via Parallel Desktop, but it is a lousy solution, and demonstrates (again) the weakness of Apple's OS and lack of compatibility. I am not impressed by the OS X performance.

No. I've given you your answer. Buy from an un-official source, and you take your chances. And yes, if your phone was hacked to unlock it(common from un-official sources), it will be locked back to the carrier it was originally locked to if you update software or restore the phone. -
I am contemplating purchasing an iPad, and then possibly a Macbook pro. Currently, I have an iMac G5, and a Powerbook G4. Neither which can be upgraded past Leopard. My question is do I need to have Snow Leopard in order to be able to update an iPad? Do I need to reverse my thought on which to buy first?
I plan on keeping the iMac and PB until they cease to work ( have replaced HD's on both already). I mostly use the PB-- lots of writing, surfing, email, etc.
