Which multifunction printer

I need a new mult-function printer (print/scan/copy - faxing is not required).
I'm considering the Canon PIXMA MP460, Canon PIXMA MP530, Canon PIXMA MP600, and the HP PhotoSmart C4180.
Can't find any of them listed on the iFelix list of printers (www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1013.html). ARE any of them compatible with Airport Extreme networks?
Any insight? We have a G5 PowerMac (with an Airport card), a G4 Powerbook (sometimes 2), and our Airport Extreme Base Station is linked directly into the house cable line (we're on broadband cable for internet access).

I can recommend the Canon MF8380C. It has a document feeder that supports duplex scanning to Lion, either via Image Capture or Preview or 3rd party application like Acrobat Pro. You can also push scan documents from the machine by first configuring the scan settings using the Canon MF Toolbox that gets installed on the Mac.
The print quality is good for office documents, but not that accurate for colour proofing. It uses Canon's proprietary UFR2 v2.30 driver of which the Lion version of this driver is available from the Canon web.
As for the monthly volume, 1500 pages per month is the maximum recommended volume, so not sure if this would suit your business needs. It's recommended monthly volume is 800 colour pages.

I think you will find that the problems reported about the MP620 connecting to wireless are often due to the person configuring the device, not the device itself. I would still recommend the MP620, or if your budget can stretch, then the MP980 is a very good AIO. I use this model as my personal printer/scanner in the office and so far it was worked very well on wireless.

Can't scan from Lexmark multifunction printer - firewall issue?

I got a Lexmark printer/scanner combo which used to work fine on my arch install. However, its mobo died, so now I'm back at another install which refuses to scan. Scanning is done through the browser via a java applet residing on the printer's webserver. The applet does start (so it's not a java issue), but refuses to receive data from the scanner. Within the printer's web interface, it reads
If using Windows XP, the Windows XP personal firewall must be disabled before using Scan to PC profiles.
, so I'm assuming it might be a firewall issue. Lexmark's website provides the following advice:
The following two command lines will open the port 5353 for incoming and outgoing connections:
iptables -I INPUT -p udp -m udp --sport 5353 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I OUTPUT -p udp -m udp --dport 5353 -j ACCEPT
NOTE: These steps will work on most distributions configured with IPTABLES. There is no common command to make these rules persistent.
As I don't know anything about IP tables, I've simply copied these commands (as root, obviously). Still, I can't scan.
So, my questions are:
1. Has anybody else ever come across an issue like this?
2. I don't even know for sure, whether this is a firewall issue - What iptabled magic would I need to temporarily disable the firewall to check?
3. I tried checking my rules by "iptables -L". How can I tell "iptables -L" to specify the ports it is working on (as I did in the commands copied from lexmark's website)?

I believe so. We put the install disc into this mac back when we bought it to set up the printer. I'm assuming the scanning drivers were there as well since it's a multifunctional printer/scanner/fax wireless printer.
We've tried it both ways. If I press the button scan on the printer, it reads can't find computer (or something like that). When we go thru the HP icon on my computer screen and choose scan to computer, it does nothing.
We don't scan that often. So the few times when we ran into this problem, we just did something else (like take a pic from our iPhone and email the pic...kinda stupid but did the trick.
But I want to have the function of the scanner available. So that's why I'm here asking...thought others had this issue and had a solution.

I would like to assist you today with resolving this install issue. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps that you have completed prior to reaching out for support. At this time I am going to walk you through some additional software and driver troubleshooting steps. Please follow all of the steps below. If you're using your HP Laserjet through a USB Cable connection, please disconnect that cable now. Step one: Remove Driver: 1. Click on your Start menu 2. Select Control Panel 3. Select Programs and Features 4. When Programs and Features opens a list of programs installed on your computer will populate. Click on the 'Installed ON' tab at the top to change the date so the recently installed items show at the top. This will make it easier to manually locate the three HP Laserjet items you need to uninstall. 5. Next, look for the HP LJ M1530 MFP Series HP Scan, HPLaserJetHelp_LearnCenter, and HP LaserJet Professional M1530 MFP Series. If you see any 3 of these, or all 3 of these items, please click on them and select Uninstall. Once you have confirmed that those three items have been uninstalled, please close Programs and Features and proceed to the next step. I have a canon MX7600 multifunction printer. My security setting allow connection with the printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine. If the firewall is running I get a dialog box every time I print asking for permission. How do I fix this?

I have a canon MX 7600 multifunction printer. Each time I print I get a dialog box asking for permission to allow connections to the printer. This box stays on my screen for a few seconds, if I don't click allow I get a communication error which then requires me to delete the job and start over. I contacted Canon and proceeded with their suggestions to no avail. They now say it is an Apple issue. My security settings are set to allow connection to the canon printer. If I disable the firewall it works fine, once I enable the firewall the problem returns. This issue is a royal pain. Any suggestions on how to fix it short of buying a new printer?

MacBook running OSX 10.9.2 - Canon MX860 multifunction printer won't connect to wireless network

At the same time I upgraded to OSX 10.9.2, my wireless modem/router died and I had to replace it. Don't know which (or both) caused the problem, but I can't get my Canon MX860 multifunction printer back on the wifi network. Has anyone solved this problem?

I thought I would let you all know how I ended up fixing the issue on my system.
I noticed that after some time the 'ping' would stop responding and I would have to reset the printer in order to get the ping responses again. This seemed more like a network strangness than an actual printer issue.
So I connected to my AirPort Extreme to see if it was missing any software updates (it was not) and in the process I ended up making a couple of changes that I don't believe could be the cause of my issue, but any change made requires the device to reboot. After this, I was then able to add my printer.
Everyone should also note that after you click on the + to Add a printer, it will take some time before the printer shows up in the Default section. So make sure you wait at least a couple of minutes for it to show up.
So even though you may think the printer is actually on the network like I did (I could even put the IP address into Safari and access the printer configuration), it may still be a wireless network issue and not an actual issue with the printer or OSX 10.9.2 or the printer drivers.
Hope that helps others having this same issue.

Sharing a Multifunction Printer with Mac & PC

I have a Canon MP780 Multifunction printer that I want to share the printing and scanning between my Mac Mini and my Windows PC. I was going to buy a print server to use on my network but they do not support multifunction printers. I was hoping to share without having to have both computers on which would be required if I share the printer on my network.
Anyone have a suggestion for a solution?

The Canon MP780, like most "budget" all-in-one printers, is a "personal use only" device designed to connect directly to a Mac or PC USB port. This device is not designed to be shared on a network - and if you do connect it to a network (via either a print server device, or connected to a Mac or PC and then shared) the best you will be able to do is print to it.
If you want to share all functions of a multifunction printer between a PC and a Mac on a network, buy a device designed for this job like the HP PSC Photosmart 2610.

OWNED: Over 2 years with no problems
LOCATION/SET-UP: At my personal residence. All-in-one wireless router through cable company.
ISSUE: All of a sudden, printer cannot find any wireless networks. Nothing has recently changed in my service provider or equipment. I know that the router and internet is not the problem because our 2 smart phones and three laptops still connect. Hello,
I'm able to print to my printer - HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer - over my local network and the printer is connected to the router via wireless connection. No connectivity issues as far as the local network goes..
The problem I'm having is that for the past week (perhaps longer but I only noticed it a week ago) I'm unable to download the web forms or web apps from the printer's screen menu. I keep getting the message: Unable to connect to the network, please check your network connection etc etc etc.
I successfully printed to my hpeprint email address, so at least the printer is connected to the eprint network, but still can't access/download any of the web forms or web apps.
Has anyone experiencd this? I'm really stuck, can't figure out what the issue could be seeing as how the printer seems to be working over the local network and am able to print documents that I send to me hp e-print email address. Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance... Robert

You're lucky to have SOME ePrint functionality left! I got a new m177fw from HP and the printer simply won't enable ePrint. I get a constant connecting screen or connection error screen. There aren't any problems with my network and I spoke with a HP customer service representative over the phone and it seems they are clueless that ePrint is currently broken on HP's end.

I have an issue making the scan to network function to work between HP LaserJet m1120n multifunction printer and Snow Leopard.
Printing is working fine and it was added via IP.
I checked the HP site for the instruction, but it does not work.

my setup is different.
the printer is connected via ethernet to an airport extreme and printing is fine.HP Director/Scan is not detecting the printer over the network.
i saw this one hp site(i forgot yhe link and i couldn't find it again) telling us to include network devices in preview and the scanner does not show on the options.

I see that you are having issues with the drivers and you would like the proper ones installed. I would like to help.
The only drivers available from HP are the Hostbased Plug and Play Drivers. Did you download and install those drivers or are you using the Windows preinstalled drivers? HP LaserJet Hostbased Print/Scan Plug and Play Drivers.
If you are using the downloaded drivers, check the Devices and Printers window to see if the printer name is listed correctly and not showing the Windows Classic Driver.
