Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support  - link doesn't state that voicemail is part of the backup
iCloud: iCloud storage and backup overview  states that VVM is part of the icloud backup.
You can also contact your cell phone provider - as voicemail is a carrier feature.

  • Why can't we backup (with Time Machine) our Airport hosted 1TB HD from our iMac (hosting a 2TB HD)?

With an iMac (one year old), we are using Time Machine to backup the iMac and one small external HD to a 2TB HD (USB). The iMac is on a small wired network along with an Airport Extreme hosting a 1TB HD for shared iPhoto Libraries, 2 printers and a recent MacBook Pro (backed up to another 1TB HD). Time Machine is doing a fine job of backing up the iMac and its small external HD (80GB), but we cannot seem to cause it to backup the Photo Libraries HD. Why not? The Photo Libraries HD is automounted to the desktops of both the iMac and the MacBook Pro. What do we need to do?

No, sorry.  The Airport Extreme can't do backups;  only OSX on your Mac.

  • Why can't i backup with iTunes 11

I am trying to backup with my Imac 27" running Lion, but I can't find any devices to back my Itunes library to.  I want to back up using my DVD +R-DL disks.  Am I doing something wrong?  (Just in case, I'm upgrading right now to Mountain Lion and will try again.)
    Thanks,
    Bob
p.s. running with Itunes 11.0.1 on my desktop.

This update is terrible; consider yourself lucky if you can't download it. I wish I read all of the complaints before installling. Without Steve Jobs, Apple's reign is over. It's just been one crappy decision after the other. For Christmas I'm buying different devices.

  • Why can't I backup my iPod Touch?

In September, I was syncing my iPod Touch 2nd Gen with iTunes. After syncing it, a dialog box popped up saying that the backup could not be saved or the session could not be started. Then I tried to sync again but the same message appeared.
A couple weeks later, I synced my iPod Touch. Well, to be honest, it didn't even sync because iTunes said that it was starting to sync for more than an hour. So I ejected the iPod and restarted iTunes. After restarting it, everything worked out to be fine, except the backing up process.
So I then searched on Google for solutions to this problem (all of the methods I have taken are listed below), and it kinda worked. iTunes did start to backup but the progress bar was not moving at all, even after an hour so I gave up.
Every time I backup, I go to the back up folder to see if it's making any progress. It does back up, but only for a minute or so. As soon as I start syncing it, it starts to back up but then nothing else gets modified or created after 5 minutes of waiting.
Note: I don't want to restore my iPod because I don't have any back up to restore it from and I don't want to lose anything that is on there.
    What I have done:
-Deleted the backup via iTunes > Preferences > Devices
-Manually deleted the backup folder in AppData > Roaming > Apple Computer > MobileSync
    -Rebooted computer
    -Reset Warnings on iTunes

What happens when you try? Error messages? Apple says you can:

iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your iOS 5 device. Once you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage, it will run on a daily basis as long as your device:
is connected to Internet over Wi-Fi
is connected to a power source
    has the screen locked
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Nowfrom Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

  • Why can't I backup iCloud on my phone or computer?

I've tried both ways of backing up iCloud, with my phone connected to a power source, the screen locked, & connected to wifi, and I have the backup option "on" on my phone, so it should update every time the above criteria are met but it's never backed up.  I've also tried doing it manually via my settings under iCloud "storage & backup" and the tab that you would click on "backup now" is there but I can't tap on it (it's greyed out), so since I purchased the phone 2 months ago it's never been backed up, help!

  • Why can't I backup to iCloud over wifi?

    Hello,
I got my iPhone 5 shortly after release date. When I first tried to set it up, I couldn't restore from a backup over wifi, so I did it with iTunes. With my iPhone 5, I've never been able to backup to iCloud over wifi (I can only backup to iTunes with a cable). It always says the message "The last backup could not be completed." and it says "Last Backup: Never" in the backup section of settings.
I've reinstalled iOS, I've updated to iOS 6.0.1, I've turned iCloud backup on and off, I've tried doing it on 2 different wifi networks, my Apple ID and password are correct and the rest of iCloud and iMessage works perfectly. I have enough space in iCloud to complete the backup
I can backup my iPhone 4S and iPad to iCloud over the same wifi network with no issues, it's only the iPhone 5 which is affected.
Any suggestions on how I can backup to iCloud over wifi?
    Thanks.

I restored my iPhone once and nothing changed, however, when I restored it a second time a few weeks later it started working fine (using iOS 6.0.1)
Backup still works fine on iOS 6.0.2

  • Why can't I backup to iCloud?

I'm currently in the process of trying to backup my stuff ready to restore to get rid of 4.5GB of 'Other'. I'm trying to backup to iCloud and all I want to move over is my contacts and my camera roll. All in all that should come to about 4GB. But it won't update because it says I need 6.9GB, though I've turned everything else off. Any idea what is taking up the remainder of the space?

The backup will include app data as well as other data and settings contained in "Other".  Back up your phone to iTunes instead (tap Back Up Now on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings), and transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (File>Devices>Transfer Purchases).  Then restore your phone, leave it connected to iTunes and when it restarts at the end you will be given the option to restore to your iTunes backup.

  • Why can't I backup my catalog in PSE6?

Every time I try to backup my catalog in PSE6 I get the message"The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location 0x78138aa0." And the programme shuts down.
There was some suggestion that deleting preferences would help but I couldn't find them! I then uninstalled and re-installed but still the same problem.
    Help please.

How long have you had PSE6? Is this new behavior? If so what’s changed recently.
Are you using C; drive or external hdd which sometimes throws up these Windows errors. The messages themselves are only of use to Microsoft developers.

  • Why can't I backup my catalog in PSE 11?

It stalls during the "Calculating Total Media Size" operation. All else seems OK. I am able to "Save Metadata to Files" and "Prepare Files". I'm running Windows 7 64bit w/ latest updates.

Thank you! This is a good thought but it didn't solve my issue, so far.
The reason for the delay in my response is because I did a clean install of Win 7 (64) & my software. I also updated the video card and installed a SSD. This greatly improved the system performance but it didn't solve my issue.
The only thing I can think of now is to move all the files and put them back incrementally. Any other suggestions?
    I'm still looking for help!
Is it possible to contact Adobe directly?

  • Why can't I backup my iPhone to my PC even after downloading the latest version of iTunes?

I tried to download the new i OS7 for my iPhone 4s, but during the sxtracting process of the download the program merely said "There was an error backing up 'my phone'." I already have the latest version of iTunes so I'm stumped on what the problem could be. Can you help?

Yes.  I just solved the problem on my PC.  Here goes...
Issue:  My Windows7 computer was producing the pop up box with the error text as you described.
The Problem: You have another application on your computer that uses the like named .DLL file... in this case a DLL supporting SQLite on your local PC.
    Solution:
    1.  You need to use the Windows File search feature to look for the name "SQLite".  This will quickly locate the offending DLL in the other application.
    2. Decide which program you like the most, in my case "Mobile Me", and uninstall the offending application.
    3.  Uninstall Mobile Me.
    4.  Restart your PC.
    5.  Reinstall Mobile Me.
    6.  Mobile Me should sync at this point, but if not, restart the PC once again.
In my case, the offending program was my Aptana Studio development application.  I had recently the SQLite3 database to my Ruby On Rails configuration...
This is where the file was located:
    C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Aptana Studio 2.0\plugins\com.aptana.radrails.sqlite3.win32_3.5.7.1278709071\vendor\SQLite3.d ll
    I hope this helps,
    Ron

  • Restarting/resetting my device did NOT resolve this problem. What is the hang up? Why can't I backup my iPad???

The original iPad cable was damaged while on vacation. Does the backup process require the proprietary cable to facilitate the connection for backup?
Note: synching works fine. This is about backups..NOT synching.

The iPad syncs fine. It's when I try to create the back up that's the problem.
I have the cable for my iPod Touch (3rd Gen) and a replacement cable bought with a 3rd party charger specifically for charging iPads.
