Why does bluetooth turn itself off?

A new game that was purchased for my iPad mini requires bluetooth. But after a certain amount of time, the game cannot find the accessory. I go back to the settings, and find that bluetooth has turned itself off.

hi Apfelwurm,
why do you say it's not normal.
it always switches itself on after i update. it just did again, this time for 7.1.2.. i t also will switch on after a restore.
i never use bluetooth and make sure it's not on for any other reason.
it's been noticed by others too.

  • Why does it turn itself off!!!!

I have had my blackberry for about three weeks.  It sucks.  I have to charge it nearly everyday.  It seems the battery runs down just after some texting and some phone calls.  But the most annoying thing is, it turns itself off!  It is incredibly frustrating, I don't know what its doing.  Can anyone help?

ANY smartphone, including the BB will run down its battery with bad software running on it.  In fact, in extreme cases the battery and other circuits can overheat, the phone then shuts down to save its circuits and reboots.
Longevity of the battery is based on the phone "resting" while waiting for IO.  Literally between key strokes, the processor is powering down to conserve the battery.
Any software that doesn't enter this wait state can drain the battery in minutes.  Examples are programs with lots of constantly changing graphics, badly written programs that loop internally instead of using a timer, web pages with poorly defined java script.   So ... be conservative about the software you use.   Anything with a lot of extra animation is going to be a battery hog.   Any program that too frequently checks back with an external server also will use up a lot of battery.   Using a setting that allows for too frequent checks, bad idea.
If you have a CDMA service such as Verizon then you should also update the PRL regularly.  For Verizon this is done by calling *228 and entering option 2.  I've noticed that some Verizon stores provide the phone without actually doing this and this will very likely lead to the exact problems people are describing.    Following this process once a month or any time you make a change to another region of the country is a very good idea.
Another thing is that if you ran down your battery without first charging it up all the way (such as when you first got it) you have probably damaged the battery.  This too is true for all Lithium Ion batteries.  I might add that periodically draining the battery on purpose is a good idea for other types of batteries BUT NOT for LiOn ones such as most cell phones use.  Doing this will also shorten the batteries life.
I do these things and I have not had any reboot or battery drain problems at all.   My phone goes all day with many emails and a couple of phone calls and is not even down 1/2 of its battery.  I might add that I've had a number of other smart phone type cell phones and folks have the same complaints about them for the same reasons.

  • Why does Facetime turn itself off?

I've been having this weird issue with my VZW iPhone 4. It seems like Facetime will turn itself off arbitrarily. I've read some folks may have had this issue if they've had an iPhone 3GS, but I've bever owned that device.
It seems like a few times a week I have to go to Settings > Phone > Facetime > On to get things going again.
    Any ideas?

I accidentally turned mine off with 4.2.6 and it would not come back on until I was told to reset network settings, turn FaceTime on, power off and on and have someone send me a text. It started right up after that.

  • Why does wifi turn itself on and off since upgrading to Mavericks?

I am able to use ethernet to get online but wifi turns itself on and off. If I turn it on automatically it connects to the network (both at work and at home) and then it turns wifi off again. If I just leave it alone wifi automatically turns on, connects to the network, and then turns itself on again. This was not happening prior to upgrading to Mavericks yesterday.

    Have you tried a SMC/PRAM reset ?
Try backing up and then deleting this file:
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    from this folder:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
Now reboot and check if the issue is resolved.
If that does not work, Can you post your system.log file messages when the issue occurs and I can take a look and help.

  • Why does computer turn itself back on after i put it to sleep?

This computer ( HP Pavilion Slimline model# s5107c, Product # NP212AA-ABA, Software Build 93NAv6PrA3 )  runs on VISTA Home Premium-64.  It had a virus which required the technician to save my files and wipe everything out and then reinstall VISTA and my files.  Since then when I put the computer in sleep mode, it turns itself back on after a few minutes.
I can find the settings for having the computer put itself to sleep after so many minutes, but can't find any setting for the computer turning itself back on.
Help please.  The computer tech has not been able to help me thus far.

  • Why does iBooks switch itself off every time I try to open it?

I have a number of purchased books plus some PDF files 'Opened in IBooks' via emails, etc. However I am unable to open iBooks on my iPhone 4 as it shuts down immediately on showing the library.
Any suggestions, without losing all my purchases?

I am having exactly the same problem with my iPhone 4 (running 6.0.1 (10A523)). I have rebooted several times since this started occurring but it doesn't change the behavior. It was also reporting a "storage almost full" error quite often when I still have 1GB - 3GB of free space. As a troubleshooting exercise I removed all my music so there is now 20.1GB free. The storage warning no longer appears but the same issue still persists with reminders. Help, please!

  • IPad bluetooth with iOS7 turns itself off randomly

I have an iPad 2. I recently downloaded iOS7. I use a Logitech bluetooth keyboard. I want my bluetooth to stay on constantly. Twice now the bluetooth turned itself off for no apparent reason. Each time I've turned it back on. As of right now, it is still on.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know a fix?

    Hi Ann5408!
I have an article here for you that I believe will help you troubleshoot this issue with your Bluetooth connections:

  • Samba turning itself off

I can't figure out why Samba is turning itself off. It happened once or twice last month but now it's weekly when the pc client id logged in or not. There nothing obvious in the log files. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the latest OS updates?
Is anyone else seeing this problem and do you have a fixed!
    I'm running OS 10.5.8 on a 2 X 3 GHz Quad xserve with 16gb memory.
    Thanks,

Still, go to the Apple store when you get back. They are very responsive to issues (they might be very hush hush about telling you what it is, but they will do somehting about it).
If there's one great thing about Apple is how they treat their customers. Go to the store and if they don't respond contact Customer Care (search Customer Care on the Apple website to get their number). I had issues with my iPod and they exchanged it two weeks after my warranty was over and then two moths later (that was the third time they had to fix my iPod). After the last time, the guy at the store gave me the number for Customer Care and they gave me a new iPod Video.
The moral of the story is, don't worry if you 90 days are over, they will do something for you (maybe call customer care right way, rather than their help line).
I am expiriencing the same issue with my MacBook. I am also abroad, so I'll have to wait until I get back to the States in two weeks. I do have the three year AppleCare program, so that's not an issue for me and I'll wait until I get back to the US, but I'd encourage you to contact them through other sources. Also, depending on where you are there might be a local store that will cover the warranty. I am in Venezuela and I know of one place that will honor my warranty here (I don't know if they are listed in the Apple website, but you might ask around and see if there are stores that carry apple, call them and see if they support the warranty or if they know who will).

  • Why does my 1st gen iPad always turns itself off and goes back to the screen. Whether I'm reading news, iBooks, etc, suddenly it goes off.

Why does my 1st gen iPad always turns itself off and goes back to the screen. Whether I'm reading news, iBooks, etc, suddenly it goes off.

If that doesn't help, the battery may be dying and need replacement. See here (tap on Battery Replacement): http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad
Alternately, might consider start saving for a new iPad. The newest iPad 6 should come out in the next few months. When it does, sellers will want to get rid of old inventory with good deals.

  • Why does the EQ (equalizer) function in the iPod settings (in my iPhone 4) keep turning itself off??

I'll notice my music sounds flat, too much treble, etc... go into iPod settings and sure enough the equalizer is set of OFF again.  I reset it to rock or bass boost or whatever.  And it then it might be another hour or 3 days later but it turns itself off again.  There doesnt seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason as to when it does this or why.  Annoying.   Any ideas?

  • HT201401 During a FaceTime call to my friend, my iPhone 4S decides to turn itself off.. Anyone got an idea on why it is doing this?

My iPhone 4S randomly turns itself off during a call on FaceTime. I have no idea why..?

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
    - Press the red (-) to delete all apps from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • Why does my iPhone 4 turn itself off and is very difficult to restart

My iPhone 4 is less than a year old but has developed the habit of turning itself off after a few hours of un-use and is extremely difficult to turn on again. It seems the only way to restart it is to hold the on/off and sleep/awaken buttons on simultaneously for many seconds. Very frustrating AND I sometimes miss important calls - help please!

Do you have a case on it that might be pressing your power on button or might press your power on button inadvertently when you touch it.

  • When I turn my ipod on why does the screen stay blank and then turn itself off?

When I turn my ipod on the normal start up screen appears with the apple logo in the middle, but then after a few seconds the screen goes blank and it turns itself off. It was working fine the other day. I even charged it overnight to make sure that it wasnt because it was out of battery. I dont know what to do, it has over 600 songs on it and around 300 photos, I know that the memory isnt full because I checked the other day and it said I had around 1GB left. I cant do anything on at all because the screen just goes blank and then turns itself off. Please help, thank you

Well, I strongly suspect that a gig isn't quite enough "extra" storage to allow operation.
However, first, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
